Just finished this last night! What an excellent debut novel! TC does a great job of making her characters so realistic and believable. I liked being in Sam's head and knowing what she was thinking, even though I disagreed with her a couple times. I mean, I SO would've boned the dude right on the boardroom table, but whatever ;)

TC also knows how to build suspense. I was questioning everyone and their damn dog, wondering who in the hell was sending the messages to Sam.

And then there's Tanner. Oh, my. Hot man in a business suit who's sweet and humble and sexy and, did I say hot? Uh, hell yeah.

This is an altogether great read containing humor, suspense & hot sexin' ;) What more could you ask for?

Oh! I heard she's writing a sequel! Can't wait to see what else is in store for Sam & Tanner!

I was gifted an ARC by TC to leave an honest review... ( I hope I do this book justice)

Wow!!! For being her breakout debut novel, she has done an amazing job.. I see N.Y. Times Best Seller in TC's future.. Want to read a book with a strong hero as well as a strong heroine, but also holds tragic real life events? Then this is the book for you..

Sam has had a horrific childhood, so immediately you would assume she is some whiney tragic ( train wreck) heroine, but she's actually not one that you would like to jump into the story and throat punch..

Jenn, Sams best friend helps her get a job for a company she works with, Sam immediately loves her position and proves to do very well with all the demands her boss places in her, but soon after her job that she loves, thing start going down hill for her, then she soars and then tragedy strikes her, just when she thinks everything will be okay...

The one thing I absolutely loved about this book, is the real life like situations, there is no knight in shinning armor to save the day, there is no magical feeling someone gets and know immediately your in danger, not here... TC absolutely nailed these moments.. If your looking for some kind of Fairytale type knight in shining armor to save the day, this is not the book for you, is there a knight in shining armor? Maybe there is, but I can't tell you that.. Sorry, can't ruin it ;)

TC did an amazing job pushing the limits in this story, she gives real life situations yet she has your head spinning wondering what's next, or who is it.. I thought I knew, boy was I surprised.. So I won't give anything away, I'm shutting up here and telling/ stressing to you, that you have to buy this book... It's just that good, it will suck you in, when you put it down you will be anxious to get back to it.. AMAZING JOB TC!!!!!

Mistaken Identity Review

What a wonderful first novel by T. C. Matson! The characters are likeable and well written.

Samantha lands a great job thanks to her best friend Jess. She has not had a relationship since her long term boyfriend was found cheating on her. Although, she is not really looking but her friend is also trying to get her back out in the world. She is on an elevator and she sees a beautiful man, he knows she is new and welcomes her to the company. Who is he? (First mystery). The second mystery starts a bit later when she starts getting cryptic notes left on her car and at her front door. I don’t want to go into details as to spoil the plot. But it’s an awesome ride.

The bit of intrigue makes this story even better. Will Sam meet the man of her dreams; will her stalker get to her? I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Matson.

Favorite Line: “It’s fascinating to watch a man of his stature be so domesticated. It’s downright erotic." (I agree).

This novel is garnering a lot of four and five star ratings and that's great, but it just wasn't working for me. I kept reading until I got to chapter 15 when I finally gave in and chucked it. Talk about a novel that just couldn't hold my interest. Not to mention a heroine that that just irritated the crap out of me. Am I the only one who found her immature? Overall tone of the novel was boring and predictable.

Matson - Mistaken Idenity I went into Mistaken Identity with a bit of hesitation. The author, TC Matson has become a good friend. She is genuinely one of the nicest people I know. So why was I worried about her book? Well, what if it sucked? I didn’t want to have to tell my friend that I didn’t like it.
Thank God it was good. It isn’t perfect. It’s her first book, so it would have been odd if it had been, but for a first book, it was really good. It’s a romantic suspense and I really felt both of the elements. I read it cover-to-cover in one night. Stayed up way too late and was so very tired the next day. But I was really sucked in and just could not put it down.

Overall Rating: 4 stars- Kept telling myself “just one more chapter.”

In Mistaken Identity we meet Samantha. She’s an every-girl looking for a career and maybe even love.
When Samantha meets Logan, he seems like a great guy. They date for a while but then don’t feel quite right. Through this, TC did a great job of building the suspense. As the reader, I felt my warning bells going off right along with Sam’s.

In the meantime, Sam’s career is blossoming. Her interactions both at work and with her roommate at home do a great job of making us genuinely like and care about her. She has a bit of a crush on an unnamed hottie at work (who hasn’t been there?!) and it adds a great light feel to the book.
Tanner's fatal dimples develop and that pull is there again -- the one in my chest that makes no sense to me, yeah that one.

Once Sam finally lands a date with the now-named-hottie Tanner, you know that Logan is not a good guy and Tanner is. Just how good or bad they most might be remains to be seen.
He's money walking, and here I am, pocket change.

Enter the most suspenseful part of this romantic suspense. I really didn’t know who had done what for a while. I THOUGHT I knew, but then thought TC was giving us a red herring. Was it Logan? Was it the creepy-weird dude at work? What about her difficult but seemingly-nice boss. Were we being led astray?
"He studies me for a minute, probably deciding whether he wants to take a bit of my neck or not, but finally lowers his eyes back to his work. Creep."

Of course, I’m not going to tell you who it was. I am going to warn you that this is a book that could be a trigger for those with a sensitive spot. TC knows that I have trouble with explicit rape scenes in a book, which this one does contain. She made sure to tell me what to skip if I needed to. As it happened, I read the whole thing, including those parts and I did okay. They’re well-done. Just consider yourselves warned as well.

The conclusion to the book is heartbreaking. Watching Sam work through what happened, with whom and how was hard. But it was also very well done. Sam and I have some similar backgrounds and I found her reactions to things very authentic.

Overall, Mistaken Identity is an awesome first novel from a new author. There are some very minor punctuation issues, and would benefit from a professional editor, but for a self-published first-time author, she did an great job.
"There's something about you, Samantha," he whispers. "I haven't found it out yet, but I'm content to venture until I do."

Smut Factor: 3 stars- Not Bad
Character likability: 4 stars- I wish we were friends.
Storytelling: 4 stars- Totally bought it.
Writing and editing quality: 3 stars - A few errors, but nothing that took away from the story.

Samantha lands a fantastic job as a personal assistant to a high power executive thanks to her friend Jess. She's single and really not that interested in relationships after her last boyfriend cheated on her, but with a little coaxing from her best friend she starts coming out of her shell and give dating a go. She meets a handsome stranger at work but their "relationship" is just a hello and goodbye type of thing while there. She also meets a handsome guy at a bar and accepts a date with him, soon she realizes he's not really the guy for her and breaks it up with him. The sex on legs from work, Tanner, asks her out and they develop a deep loving relationship until some things come to light.

While the relationship with Tanner is going strong, strange things start to happen, Sam receives threatening letters, pictures letting her know that this person stalking her knows where she's been and with whom, and a lot of other weird things around her apartment. Her stalker becomes more agressive as her relationship with Tanner progresses. Will Samantha be able to live in peace again or will this crazy person completely mess with her life and relationship?

This is a book that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout. I thought I knew who the stalker was when things started happening, but the way the author introduces characters and situations will have you changing your mind and wondering who could it be.

The story flows and you will have a hard time putting the book down, I read it all in one sitting because I just had to find out who was doing these horrible things to Samantha.

This story has mystery, suspense, very steamy sex scenes and violence.

Please note there are situations in this book that might be very hard to some readers, but I think that the author did a great job of dealing with them.

I will definitely put this author on my watch list and I'm looking forward to her next novel.

Five solid stars.

Wow! What a great first book! I loved the characters!

Samantha lands a really great job thanks to her best friend Jess. She has not had a relationship since her long term boyfriend was found cheating on her. Her Best friend Jess is always looking to get her to date again, but she does not want to date for a long while. At work she is on an elevator and she sees a beautiful man, who she calls Mr Eye Candy. Then a few nights later she meets a guy at the bar, Logan, a sexy construction worker and starts dating him, they break it off and a then she goes out with Mr Eye Candy. She then starts receiving stalking letters.

Samantha soon learns Mr. Eye Candy from the elevator is not who he says he is, the sexy construction worker is not who she thought he was, and then there is her stalker. Her life is not as simple as she hoped it would be.

I look forward to more books from her.

Spoiler Alert!

This is one of the best debut books I have read so far. This book kept me glued to my seat. In the back of my mind I did suspect Logan from the beginning.

The emotions that she went through when Logan turned up in her room and did all those horrific things to her felt so real to me. It broke my heart, because everyone felt so much guilt over what happened. But this book also has a positive message. No matter how bad the things that happened you can get through them and live a happy well adapted life.

This book surprised me in so many ways! I've read all of T.C. Matson's books and this one had such a different feel and I absolutely loved it.

Samantha Beckman hasn't had the easiest childhood, but with the help of her best friend she's turned things around and is starting a new job and has a new outlook on life. And it doesn't hurt that she keeps running into Mr. Eye Candy in the elevator at work;)

While out at a bar one night, Sam meets Logan, a handsome and confident man who asks her out on a date. But when things fizzle out Logan doesn't take the rejection well. Right around that time, Mr. Eye Candy (aka Tanner) starts to pursue Sam. As the relationship between Tanner and Sam begins to heat up, Sam starts receiving creepy and threatening messages at her apartment, on her car and at her job.

As the police struggle to find a lead on her stalker, Sam discovers that Tanner has been keeping secrets of his own. Their relationship has been built on a lie and nothing is as it seems. For the second time in her life, Sam has been betrayed by a person who claims to love her. And this time she may not get away with her life.

This story kept me guessing right up until the last few chapters and I loved every bit of it. I would highly recommend it to fans of romantic suspense and contemporary romance.

I fell in love with this book from the first chapter. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I just couldn’t stop reading and when I had no choice, but to quit reading I wondered what happens next. This is an amazing book from a very talented writer. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It is not your typical contemporary romance thriller. If you don’t like a lot of sex in your books, then this is definitely the book for you.
The book is about a girl named Samantha who has had a rough life. She is best friends with Jessica. Jess gets Sam a job where she works. Samantha meets a few interesting characters along the way while trying to find Mr. Right. Samantha has carriage rides, rooftop picnics, and fancy dinners at upscale restaurants. She meets three different guys that seem interested Mr. Eye Candy from the elevator at work, Mr. Construction Worker, and Mr. New Guy at Work. She has a stalker who is relentless. Who could it be? Who wants to take things too far? Who just will not take no for an answer?

I received a copy to review. I didn't read the blurb or anything. I agreed to read it because Mistaken Identity is T.C. Matson debut novel. I love reading debut novels because I don't have any expectation of how it will be. Mistaken Identity is a good read. T.C. Matson is one author that I going to be watching for her next book to come out.

Samantha really not looking for a relationship but she ends up meeting Logan. Logan seems great at first then he gets a little crazy and things fizzle out between them. Sam's best friend Jenn helps get her a job as a executive assistant. She bumps into Mr. Eye Candy in the work elevator. Mr. Eye Candy is named Tanner. Tanner and Sam end up in an relationship. Tanner is sexy and sweet. He seems prefect but he's hiding who he really is from Sam. To make matters worse Sam has a stalker. The story was very well written, it keep me guessing what was going to happen next. I was guessing who the stalker was. Once the stalker is revealed there are some tough scenes to read.

Mistaken Identity will pull you in right from the beginning. It won't disappoint you.

There is not a lot I can say about this book besides the fact that I loved it!

When Samantha starts a new job and meets Logan, she soon realises he is not the man for her. After a while she meets Tanner, a man who turns her world upside down and gives her something she has always wanted…HOPE.

But when someone begins to threaten that, can Sam and Tanner save what they have?

I loved the characters as Sam was feisty and not afraid to stand up for what she believed in! Even after a devastating attack, she doesn’t play the victim. She was not one to give up.

Tanner…SWEET MOTHER OF MARY…Tanner!!! He is the perfect Southern Gentleman! Hot, sexy and sweeter than sugar!

This debut novel from this author had me gripped! It had all the elements of a great read! Great characters, a storyline filled with suspense and I loved that the sexy scenes were hot but not vulgar! There was no need for that and I am so glad the author realised it.

I am a total new fan of TC Matson and I cannot wait to read more from her!

5 stars for this fantastic debut!

For a first book T.C. Matson has done a great job. I bought this book this afternoon and couldn't put it down until I finished it. Sam (Samantha) wasn't looking for love as she was getting over a two year relationship. Jess (her best friend, sister from another mother) helps her get a job with the Weston Company where she works. Sam meets Logan, a construction worker, at a local bar after work on the first day and they start dating but there's fireworks and he gets weird so she ends it. She meets Mr. Eye Candy in the elevator at work several times (later to be named Tanner). They start dating and it gets serious. Then she starts getting white envelopes with notes on her car, at work, under her door, etc. She has a stalker and he doesn't like her dating. They were some hard scenes with violence to read in this book but they but they were necessary to get to the back story of her childhood. Lot so twists, turns and secrets to keep you on the edge of your seat. This was a great read and I will definitely be watching for the authors' next book.

Mistaken Identity by T C Matson is full of suspense, intrigue & violence along with some seriously hot sex scenes.
Samantha gets a great new job, thanks to her best friend Jess &on her first day she meets “Mr Eye Candy” in the elevator, but she has no idea who he is. Then on a night out she meets sexy construction worker Logan & they start dating, although she still keeps thinking of “Mr Eye Candy”. When things with Logan don’t quite go to plan she goes out with Jess & meets up with Tanner “Mr Eye Candy”. There is definite attraction between them & they embark on a whirlwind relationship.
Things then start to get weird, Sam keeps getting scary notes & she discovers that neither man interested in her are what they seem.
This was an exciting read & leaves you on the edge of your seat at times. The characters really make an impression on you.
This is a really great début novel from T C Matson.

Some spoilers... I loved Tanner, in fact I loved all the main characters, Samantha, Jess & even Marty. It hooked me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I went back and forth in my head trying to figure out who was sending Sam threatening letters. It had a great mixture of everything, love, emotions, friendship, suspense, intrigue, sex and violence. I could have done without the violence as those parts are so hard for me to read. But it was powerful and written exceptionally well as I felt Sam's terror and it made me cringe, Sam was strong and fighting for her life, the utter desperation and then helplessness she felt when she finally realized even for all her fight there was nothing she could do to stop what was going to happen to her, I was devastated....
Tanner was amazing.... Loved him....
I could have done with more harm coming to the bad guy in the end but all in all it was a great read..

Lots of potential...

I really liked this author's writing style and will more than likely give other books a chance but this one just didn't do it for me. It started off with great potential but quickly went downhill. I found the characters annoying, especially Sam, the heroine. Strangely, my favorite one to read about was Logan and that was only because he was so well written that I believed in his craziness. I found it so unbelievably stupid that Sam couldn't forgive Tanner given the circumstances and her own half-truths. I also felt like I would throw my Kindle if I had to hear how she doesn't "do fancy" one more time. In the end, I was annoyed by the characters and by their actions, as well as the lack of editing, but recognize the writing skill of the author so 3 stars.

4 Elevator Stars

So Mr. Eye Candy kept us intrigued through out the book, I wanted to jump in and just give him a quick *ahem* squeeze ;)

This was my first book from TC Matson and I was captivated and sucked into the story from start to finish. It did not take a detective to figure out who was stalking her but I will let you figure it out for your self.
Once the story came together the ending felt a little rushed. But all in all I thought it was a great read and would recommend it to all of you.

Enjoy and Happy Reading

Captivating

Where to begin.... the book is a love story wrapped in a mystery. Samantha (h) begins a new job, sees sexy eye candy in the elevator, meets a sexy man at a bar. Without messing up the story for you, lies are told, people aren't who they seem and cryptic messages are being sent. What I enjoyed the most is the inner musings of Sam especially while training a new employee. I love it when a book can make me laugh as well as cringe with worry. The author managed to make Sam very human... loved it.
