Karin is a vampire with a twist--she experiences intense bleeding from her nose once a month--so instead of stealing blood from humans, she gives her blood to them and if done properly, the benefits are positive to both.
Yuna Kagesaki (影崎 由那 Kagesaki Yuna ) is a manga artist, born on March 3, 1973 , best known for being the author of the manga Chibi Vampire. Her work has been published under four different names: Yuna Kagesaki (影崎 由那 Kagesaki Yuna) (professionally published non-pornographic comics, except for Sakura no Ichiban), Yuna Kagezaki (影崎 由那 Kagezaki Yuna?) (same characters but different readings; only in Taishō Komachi Jikenchō Sakura no Ichiban!) Yūna Kagesaki (影崎 夕那 Kagesaki Yūna) (spelled with different kanji) when drawing CG's for PC games, and Yuta Kageyama (影山 由多 Kageyama Yuta) when drawing hentai manga or HCG's for PC games. Her real name is presumedly Keya, as she calls herself in the bonus comic strips at the end of volume 3 of her work Hekikai no AiON. In middle school she was a member of the brass band.
We pick up with Karin and Kenta at the zoo on their very first date. Anju is following them and it's kinda freaking Kenta out because he wants to tell something to Karin and having Karin's little sister follow then around is kinda blowing the mood.
The amusement park is right next door and with a zoo ticket you can go over there. So, off they go, jump on the ferris wheel, get to the tippy top and Kenta spills the beans. He tells Karin that he digs her and she's super shocked but we all knew it was coming because she totally digs him, too.
The book is mainly about them being lovey dovey and trying to hide it from anyone because a relationship between a human and a vampire is really a meaga NO NO!
The new character of the book Tachibana finds out and wants to spread the word but this freaks and stresses Karin out so much that she has a gyser of blood come out of her nose (which is pretty funny because Tachibana gets drowned in it). Kenta takes them both over to his house to clean them up and now Tachibana is curious what on earth Karin is.
Anju and Henry (dad) spy on them and then follow Tachibana on her way home from Kenta's house only to see her da da daaaaa sucking neck with someone... but not in the sucking face kind of way. THey are super shocked and can't figure out why on earth a vampire is on their turf. Apparently they have a turf.
They take her back to the Maaka house and try to get Tachibana to fess up. They even tickle her with bats which was too funny. Tachibana won't budge but when Karin comes home she fesses to being a half-breed and we find out that's why she can go out into the sun.
There's got to be something else about this. Tachibana's uncle told her to find the Maaka's but why? I can't wait to find out!!
I guess I was wrong in the last book. I really thought Tachibana was going to be a werewolf ;)
As Karin and Kenta's official first date continues, her younger sister Anju keeps an eye on the clumsy couple. But when Kenta takes notice of her, he grabs Karin and ushers her off to the Ferris wheel. There, he finally tells her his true feelings and the two decide to officially start dating,of course hiding this fact from Karin’s parents and her little sister Anju’s blessing.
After a slow burn romance full of clumsy missteps, these two are finally in the clear. Except their new coworker, Tachibana, is acting strange and asking around about bats and creatures of darkness. When she begins to suspect something is off about Karin when she suffers a massive nosebleed, Anju and the rest of the Marker family decide to follow her only to discover Tachibana is a vampire herself, and seems like she might be more similar to our clumsy heroine, Karin, than other vampires. Does this mean Karin isn’t the only odd vampire out there?
I was super glad the slow burn romance lead up to this. I think the pacing has been pretty good between Karin and Kenta and I liked that the plot thickened with a new vampire in town.
It's the start of the end, which is when every manga that was too good for it's time starts to end. Karin and Usui are together, Anju is almost an adult, and the vampires from previous volumes are coming in to see what the Marker family secret is.
Elda hasn't woken up yet, and I think when Elda wakes up is when things really go downhill. I've got up to volume 11 for now so there isn't too much of a waiting period for me until the library has the last few volumes, and then I get to be upset about it ending.
I knew there was something up with her…. Obviously, I couldn’t remember because my memory of this series is gone except for the main characters and the premise.
Yet another Chibi Vampire book and still I'm enjoying the series. Hence, why I keep reading them. So anyway this one still had its humour which I really enjoyed. It had me laughing at several parts. The characters are all pretty cool characters. They're all drawn quite well. I have to say though that I really do not like the new character. The ending surprised me however, it was a very good ending as it made me want to know what happens next. Overall, I felt that Chibi Vampire Volume 9 was quite a good book. I would recommend it to anyone interested in vampires, manga and I would say that this series is a good one for anyone who is thinking about reading manga but doesn't know what to read.
After the last volume I was a little concerned that there was the beginning of a love triangle. Usui and Karin's relationship was complex enough without adding another wrinkle. Thankfully, that didn't happen and introduced something that might actually help them in the long run.
A nice fun read, I look forward to the next volume.
I couldn't help but love this volume, Karin and Kenta finally admitting their feelings for each other (FINALLY) had me squealing, I loved it, the family relationship is growing, with a hint at a darker reason as to why Karin is the way she is. Very intrigued by this volume and can't wait to continue

This is a fun series to read because it's cute and has an interesting twist in the plot. I enjoyed this addition in the series becaues I got to see more of the two main characters and I am curious to see where it will go from this point.
The ferris wheel! The ferris wheel! the Ferris wheel!
Awesome way to twist the plot around...not sure how I like the addition of the plot twist, but it's still an excellent series and the romance is so awkward and sweet at this stage!
Quick thoughts: Nice conclusion to the Valentine's Day arc to start. The remainder focuses on Yuriya and her secrets/motivation. I like that there feels like real progression among the various plotlines as this manga goes along.
Who is the new girl? I love the development and the growth of the characters, as well as the fact that even when asleep they are trying to protect Karin from herself.
