Let me start by confessing I sometimes choose books because of the cover! So.... yes, this cover caught my attention and then the overview sucked me in a little further. Which now I am pleased to say that the story lived up to the cover's hype!

The curiosity surrounding time and creation is always debatable but also very intriguing. Friendship and love are the strongest bonds we know.... some may even call them "threads" of life!

Thread the Bone definitely has a plot that requires your full attention or you may initially find yourself confused (a little). Especially if you are like myself and tend to try to "figure it out" the whole time you're reading! But if you stick with it, it all comes together.... rather well I must say. I found the characters, places/lands, and the plot interesting... a nice foundation, if the author decided to create a series (fingers crossed).

I think if there would have been more detail surrounding the Creator and maybe a little more history in relation to the Creator and the old Gods, I may have been able to give it 5 stars. Regardless, I did enjoy this book enough to give it a well deserved 4 stars!!!

*** Three and a half stars ***

Reads as slightly disjointed, but once I reached the last third of the book I understood why - scattered fragments pulled together in the end to become whole. A little hard to follow at times, but was overall an interesting tale. Definitely different than anything I have read previously. Not much in the way of character development, so I won't be picking it up again.

When the Creator's daughter is tragically killed during the War he sets out to take his vengeance on the children of the Old Gods.

Pritchard did such a great job writing this book. His writing style is top notch and I enjoyed how he was able to write the past and present in a cohesive method. The back and forth usually throws me and I get off track of what happened last but his technique was flawless. The four female characters were written beautifully all while having their own story and experiences told. The characters and world-building were done great, I do wish there was a little more information/history on the Creator, that would have been a nice touch. Overall a great read.

Thread the Bone by M.R. Pritchard demands your full attention. From the complex world building to the characters, your attention cannot wander for long or you will get lost. But keeping your attention won't be difficult; this book is rich in imagery and vibrant mythology. The story is definitely a bit slow, but enjoy taking your time. The story needs to settle, to age, to solidify into another layer of precious stone, like those in the tower (IYKYK), before it becomes precious.

Thread the Bone is as beautiful as it is haunting, a must for lovers of Brandon Sanderson, T. Kingfisher and Hanna Whitten.

Following the horrific death of his daughter during the War, the Creator decides to get revenge on the offspring of the Old Gods. I liked how the author was able to write about the past and current together. I occasionally lose sight of what happened previously when a story jumps back and forth, but Ms. Pritchard's writing style makes it easy to get back on track. In addition to having their unique stories and experiences conveyed, the four female characters were all masterfully crafted. Your next book should definitely be this one because of how well the characters and world-building were done!

I received a free copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review

While slow to start, Thread the Bone builds up its setting fairly well giving a sense of an eerie lost land filled with secrets before expanding on the bigger story. The daughter of a god is killed and now the reincarnations of the Old Gods children who had been targets of vengeance as a result surf the old grim tale. And it is grim. It’s a grey broken mysterious world and while the conflict takes time to get going it proves to be a mysterious and mystical tale.

Overall, this book is a really unique and fun indie read. It is multi-POV, fairly short, and a good pickup for a weekend read. I liked the lyrical language in it, and the whole plot was fun and kept me wanting more.

I did feel it could have used a more fleshed out setup because I felt a little lost and then the end had a good bit of info dumping about certain characters. But, it is still a well done story and I would gladly check out more by this author.

I found this book a little confusing and disjointed to begin with. Then, about halfway through the story it all started to come together. This is book that needs all your attention so you don’t miss the smallest of details. The world building is complex, and the author has woven a complicated yet interesting story.

The idea and premise of the book was good, but it was difficult to keep track of the storyline, it jumped around a lot.

Amazing world-building and intricate storytelling. So much is happening that it's easy to get lost if you lose concentration. I enjoyed making the connections between the characters.

Thread the Bone was such a great read. I really enjoyed how Pritchard was able to weave the story between the past and present and then crash it all together for an epic ending. The four female main characters were written so differently, and I really enjoyed how their differences became their strengths in the end. You could feel Cara’s loneliness and Noomii’s feeling of freedom. It was what each needed to develop into women who could save their world.

Through Pritchard’s world-building, I was able to envision the Land of Man and all the creatures and beings within that world. I loved the small nods to our understanding of the world and how the Land of Man was laid out and developed over time. One of my favorites places was Highrock. I also enjoyed the poems at the beginning of the chapters.

The characters seemed so separated from one another through out most of the book, and I was shocked to see how they culminated in the end. I could not anticipate where the story was going to go. I really appreciate a plot which I don’t see coming. Overall, a really awesome read which I highly recommend!

Thread the Bone is an incredible work of art. There was a point halfway where I wasn't sure and questioned everything I had understood to that point, then the world got flipped o its head and everything began falling into place like the most satisfying game of Tetris

The story begins in a war and introduces a creator and his daughter, along with a very elegant system of healing and rebuilding, hence the title, Thread the Bone. This, is the prologue

Two girls are consigned to be servant of two separate watchtowers at opposite ends of the world, each with a mysterious helper who brings them sustenance (as they can never leave the tower) One is from the Goldlands (Cara), a lavish place where everything revolves around gold and wealth, the other from the Darkmoors (Noomi), an untouchable, people who are seen as subhuman. Their individual personalities shine out early on and there are anchiring points in the chapter headers to keep track of the immersive and intricate arcs as they weave together.

As the story continues, we are introduced to a few more locations and a few more characters, all interacting with each other at different events through time and space

The concepts were novel and it didn't stay in one genre, creating new tropes as it went along. There are some great little pieces of humour and a little bit of spice (minimal and in context)

The book truly comes into its own at the halfway point as I have mentioned and by the end, I was so replete, satisfied and absolutely overwhelmed at how beautifully cerebral, artful and intriguing the story was, how carefully crafted and put together.
