Dr. Takoda Wells risks everything to find the GODD Chip, a banned gene therapy that might just save the human race.

Set in the year 2137, this post-apocalyptic technothriller takes place amid the aftermath of the Genetic Revolution of the 2070s, an era during which the craze of designer babies and gene replacement therapies led to generations of horrible mutations and the eventual worldwide ban on DNA alterations.

Now, a new outbreak of mutations threatens to wreak even more havoc. Dubbed the Jakali Syndrome, the new mutations turn adolescents into insane, ravenous killers known as jakalis. The condition is a scourge the geneticist Takoda knows all too well. Jakalis killed his wife and his daughter is destined to become one of the beasts...unless he can find a cure before she transforms.

That search intensifies when Takoda discovers healed mutations in the DNA of a 10-year-old boy slated to be euthanized before he morphs into a jakali, repairs that suggest the boy was recently treated with the GODD Chip, an experimental therapy banned 25 years prior.

Emboldened by the discovery, Takoda and his allies embark on a harrowing adventure to find the person responsible for treating the boy in the hopes of acquiring the GODD Chip technology. But there are those who learn of the mission, factions who view the chip as a threat to the post-Genetic Revolution world order. And they will stop at nothing to foil the heretical quest.

K. Patrick Donoghue is the author of two series; the Anlon Cully Chronicles, an archaeology-based mystery-thriller series, and the Rorschach Explorer Missions, a new sci-fi thriller series.

Patrick's inspiration for the Anlon Cully Chronicles is rooted in his long-standing interest in ancient civilizations. In particular, a series of still-unexplained archaeological discoveries that suggest at least one advanced society thrived on Earth long before consensus views.

In similar fashion, Patrick takes a contrarian/alternative view toward deep space exploration, the existence of extraterrestrial life and ancient aliens in The Rorschach Explorer Missions.

His books include:

Shadows of the Stone Benders
Race for the Flash Stone
Curse of the Painted Lady
Priestess of Paracas (upcoming release: fall 2019)
UMO (Kindle eBook only at this time)
Skywave
Magwave (new release: July 31, 2019)

Great read

This book has just enough suspense and intrigue to keep the story moving along, but the scientific aspect of genetics does not weigh the plot down unnecessarily. I can't wait for book number 2

Fiction based on fact??

Considering what is going on in the world now it makes you wonder if this is based on fact. Scientists with a god syndrome. Start out slowly design the way you want your child to look. Change DNA to prevent diseases. Unfortunately, the thrill only lasts until the age of 12-13. Then you have to decide euthanize or allow the monstrous change to begin. Can anyone help? Design AI robots to pick up the slack ? Where's it all going? Better get how did we get to this place? Great job. Thank you.

Fast-paced! Riveting! Emotional! Suspenseful! Compelling! Complex! This book brings it ALL! It was an artful melding of twisted psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense. THIS is how you do a first in series and keep a reader highly impatient and chomping at the bit for the next in series!

Good read

Twists and turns in this plot keep the pages turning. Interesting speculation on tinkering with DNA and the human struggle by the elite to achieve and maintain power. I will read the next.

Great read

Suspenseful from start to finish with an ending that keeps you wishing the next book was just on the horizon rather than having to wait

Was an interesting topic, but the characters seemed a little flat.

Gene therapy gone wrong. I think it is best to leave nature with its job.
