Every poem in this collection speaks deeply and directly to men, capturing precious moments, powerful insights, and honest glimpses of life. The themes are universal: birth, death, love, loss, war, beauty, and family. Both classic and contemporary poetic masters are represented, including William Shakespeare, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Frost, Gwendolyn Brooks, Robert Pinsky, Langston Hughes, and Dylan Thomas. Each poet speaks to men in voices and language they trust and understand, without using contrived poetic forms, avant-garde imagery, or esoteric references. This powerful anthology will leave no reader unmoved.

A thoughtfully-grouped collection of poems old and new, which should find a ready audience among most men, whether they're regular poetry readers or not. All are short-to-medium in length, easing the 'price of admission'. Enjoyable.

Cummings, Frost, Atwood and Shakespeare all make an appearance in this collection.
On Amazon I saw a couple reviews claiming that this book had carefully picked out poems....and I would say in my opinion the collection is rather scattershot. As far as this as a collection I feel its pretty weak.
However, the poems held within are generally good poetry. Some really demand to be read out loud.
The intro was generally good. And as that is the only thing the compiler wrote himself that's a relief.
If you want a collection of pretty random poetry (though a solid grouping) then this is likely the book for you. But there are plenty of better organized books out there. If you are picking it up for the famous authors there are better books full of their poetry.
