Well I'll be damned! I knew this book was going to be EPIC but Everly just hit that ball waaay out of the park! Guys with this book you're in for a real treat. This book is going to take you on a hell of a ride.
I can't express how much I flipping loved this book. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, totally engrossed in this world of its own magic really. It's funny but do you know that feeling when you get so absorbed in a book that you forget whats going on around you? Well this is exactly what happens with this final book for Hunter. I got to the point where I was legit so busting to go to the bathroom but I just didn't want to get up.
that was legit me
I kid you not...this book will suck you right in and hours will pass without you noticing at all....Well until you look at the clock and be like
and then you're just like...
Coz you honestly don't care because derh it was time well spent.
This series is just so unique and hence the journey it took me on was raw and powerful. I felt their pain, their fear, their love and loyalty and it moved me so much! I can't honestly express how amazingly written this story is.
Follow Hunter and her friends as they as a team take down Amalia and find truths and strengths within themselves they didn't know they had. I honestly loved how amazingly written these characters were, I seriously have fallen hard for each one of these characters. They have a depth to them that can sometimes be missed but this is not the case here. You become friends with them all (well except the bad guys, but that's just a given lol) and feel everything they feel. These friendships are life long and beautiful to read and experience.
I know this isn't mentioning much about the journey of the book but honestly what can I say without blurting out all the spoilers in the world? I just can't. Just be prepared that at times it may feel like you've been sucker punched right in the gut.
(Don't say I didn't warn you)
But I promise that special moment at the end will happen and you will just happily sigh and feel all the amazing feels in the world and be 100% satisfied.
I'll leave you with this quote: "Remember always: you can overcome darkness"
I’m very sad an emotional that Hunters story has come to an end... but it was finished off so absabloominlutely perfect! That ending before the epilogue...intense much!...but I really feel that everything was superbly finished off for Hunter's part and for that I am happy (How super cute was that ending tho *sigh* my heart melted with happiness).
An author can have a fantastic story but if the ending doesn't do it for me it does unfortunately ruin the whole thing. I'm very relieved how neatly she brought all the strings together before tying it in a metaphorical bow. Now just sending my powerful vibes to Everly to create a story for Tansy, coz we all know theres gotto be one for her, its only fair hehe 😉
Now I'm feeling lost and am completeley unsure what to do with my life now that, that incredible story has been finished. Ergh MAJOR BOOK-HANGOVER!
Anywho I feel so honoured and gifted to have been taken on this very special journey with Everly and your characters...I can’t wait to read what u have next up ur sleeve.

Assassin's Maze is the third and final installment in author Everly Frost's Assassin Magic trilogy. This story picks up immediately where Assassin's Mask finished. Valkyrie Hunter Cassidy, the assassin known as the Glass Arrow, is up against time. She has to find a way to fight and defeat the Valkyrie Queen Amalia. She has to discover the identity and location of the supposed last Keres in existence who can kill both herself and Slade Baines. The same Keres that her own mother sacrificed her life to save.
The conclusion to this slow building epically magical series has come and I'm not disappointed, not even a little.
Slade and Hunters journey has been full of epic highs and heartwrenching lows. They have battled through betrayals and loss. Through love and lust and through unexpected change. It truly has been a rollercoaster of unimaginable events.
Assassins Maze brought many more questions but it also answered every one at some point along the way and revealed things I didn't see coming. I adored Slade and Hunter together and honestly I am so glad their story ended how it did. But can I just say Grace and Hunters story is also something so special.
This journey gave us so many wonderful characters that added so much personality to the pages and really had me so invested.
It's been a crazy ride and I'm not going into it because I don't want to spoil a thing. But in terms of character development and plot progression this author hit the ball out the park. Every story took me on a emotional journey and I was anxious to read the next, to know what was going to happen and just to read more of these characters because that's how much I enjoyed them. It's been a crazy ride but I'm glad I got to read it and I'm beyond happy with how it ended.
This was the weakest entry in the series (the main books with Hunter) IMHO. I skipped through large chunks of the book and I had some big gripes.
I felt like Frost focused a lot of page time on things that could’ve been shorter or were pretty obvious and didn’t devote any time to things that had real depth.
Archer and Hunter’s relationship came together way too fast for mortal enemies. Suddenly they totes love each other after some training to teach Archer to be an assassin. Archer’s reaction to Hunter being a Valkyrie was also very nonchalant. And yeah I guess you would trust the person who taught you how to be an assassin and save you, but the amount of trust and the way Archer just totally accepted it and said “but I could kill you,” felt like a missed opportunity to explore what would’ve been a minefield of a relationship.
I loved the maze and all the mythology. The otherworldly creatures and the emotional minefields, but then the parts fighting Amalia were SO DRAWN OUT. It went on and on and on and ON. I was groaning out loud. And skipping. So much of Amalia’s strength was in her underlings doing the dirty work for her and in her having a hold on Slade’s soul as a threat. Other than that, Amalia couldn’t keep Hunter off. She lost, so to have a fight suddenly dragged out so much was annoying. I would’ve preferred more time spent in the maze, with cool myths and such.
Also the over protectiveness of Cain over Archer with Hunter and then Cain flips his switch to nice or whatever and is over it bc he trusts Hunter until he doesn’t again. I don’t know, it felt dumb and inauthentic to his character and the respect and trust he had for Hunter.
I’m struggling to find much I really did like. I was satisfied with wrap up of Hunter becoming the Guardian and I did love her being pregnant bc I knew Slade would be cute about it. The maze part was well done, but there was so much “not plot” plodding around and I didn’t love it. It’s made me a bit reluctant to pick up another series from Everly Frost. This one started off so strongly and then just kept declining with each book. I would try another series but only from the library.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
• Concept/Plot: this is the finale in the Assassins magic series and we finally get to the showdown we’ve been waiting for. Amalia you better watch out - our ladies are coming for ya!
• World building: This Book takes place in Boston and later in the realms of the maze - which includes some more interesting elements of Norse mythology - loved it!
• Writing style: same as the other books. I’m a big fan of first person present tense POV. Felt much more invested in the story because of it.
• Character development: yes, especially friendship developments
• Pacing: fast, like the other books as well. Everly Frost has a gift for writing in a way that makes me want to be able to read twice as fast because how else am I going to keep up with the pace of this book? Definitely not a single boring page in sight.
• Interesting/unique magical system: yes, same as the other books but even more intense
• Magical beings/creatures: yes, such as witches, valkyrie, keres, etc.
• Strong heroine/hero: yes, one of the best I’ve read about
• Villains with motives: yes; Amalia is ready to give our ladies hell
• Favourite characters: Hunter and Vlad (can we please, please get a Vlad and Tansy book?!)
• Facts about side characters/relationship of side characters and MC: I loved that this book also strongly focused on the growing friendships between the characters, I love when a group of friends, that should be enemies, come together to fight their real enemy
• Violence: yes, fighting scenes, blood, killing • Romance: yes o Love triangle/cheating: no o RH (reverse harem): no o Sexual content: I honestly don’t remember, but if there was it wasn’t detailed and definitely not the focus of this book • HEA : yes • Character deaths: yes • Cliffhanger: No
******************************
• Recommend: 100% • Re read / or would re read in the future: yes, I would re read this series • If you liked this you might also enjoy: the bridge kingdom duology by Danielle L Jensen
As a whole, this series was pretty good (maybe 3.5 stars) but this book just didn't do it for me.
I was pretty invested in what was going on with Hunter and Slade in the first two books. Their relationship was pretty complex and I kept wondering how they were going to progress. The plot also made sense and was intriguing but didn't tear me away from the romance.
However, that third book (technically 2.5 but really should be labeled 3 because it's essential to the series and is long enough to be considered a book and not a novella) really took me out of the groove. One minute I'm all "what's going to happen to Hunter" and the next I'm "I no longer care about Hunter at all now I want to know about Grace". I understand why the third book was written, and everything in it made sense, but it definitely messed up the flow of the series.
This last book just seemed like it was kind of checking boxes plotwise and was kind of predictable in the end. It was just kind of a foregone conclusion that the good guys would win and the bad guys would lose, and nothing new really happened romance-wise. I mostly just finished it for the sense of completeness, not because I was super interested in the ending. Kind of harsh, sorry.
So many feels!! You can't read this series and not fall in love with these memorable characters. There is just so much angst and uncertainty that you just want to reach that elusive happily ever after ending. It's a true testament to the writing genius of Ms. Frost that she hooks you very early on, and keeps you riveted with baited breath! This has been such an arduous journey!! Frightening, sorrowful, devastating but also uplifting, hopeful and it's one of the best assassin series you'll ever come across! I could not love this series conclusion more, it's everything I was hoping for and so much more 💗 I'm usually so upset to read those final words and leave a series behind, but I'm not at all feeling that way because this was just so beautifully executed. I can't think of a single thread I need to see tied up. I'm absolutely content to let the characters take a well deserved rest and to simply be. Bravo to Ms. Frost!!! She gifted us with such an entertaining and emotionally driven series that would be difficult to ever forget 💗💗💗
This is such an amazing series! I can't rave enough about it.
This book particularly was one of my favorites as it had all of the factions of assassins working together. You got to see a little bit of everyone's story while still maintaining the main character's storyline. It was crafted in a way that just blended really wall and read very very smoothly.
I love the Norse mythology that is riddled throughout this book in particular, it was exceptionally done.
Cain and Archer appear in this book as well and I absolutely adore them both.
I am really looking forward to Tansy and Vlads story and I can't wait to see what happens with Vlad (can't say anything without giving you guys a spoiler).
There is a happy ending for Hunter and Slade, one which gives you all the gooey feelings.
All in all, this series is one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading. I love this idea of the assassin's and their world, it's not like anything I've read before.
I can’t believe this series is over, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. This author has an incredible talent for drawing readers into the worlds she creates and making us feel everything the characters do. The Assassins Maze is my favourite of the series, it’s a thrilling, non stop rollercoaster of adventure, full of drama and twists. The Maze is an absolutely extraordinary place full of deadly creatures and mystery. I love Hunter she’s the perfect blend of badass warrior and young woman finding her way, her relationship with Slade is wonderful and the cautious new friendships with the others continues to grow in this book. It’s a five star series for me and though Hunter’s story is over I really hope the author returns to this world and brings us more from the others, especially Tansy.
Heartache, power, villains and so, so much love and development. I can’t believe I only read four books; I feel like I have been submerged in this story for 6 months it was just so memorable and engaging.
Assassin’s Maze finished off the Assassin’s Magic series and it tied up everything so extremely well. This book was painful, emotional and wonderful, just like every other book in the series. I was not one bit disappointed in it.
The way magic, assassins and the various supernatural species were interwoven into the modern world was outstanding.
The characters were complex, so well written and developed and I could just read this series for the rest of my life and be content which is a compliment to the magic of Everly’s writing and creation.
This book had me in a chokehold from the first page. A rogue assassin fighting for her family, a scorching bond with a powerful warrior, and a deadly maze full of mythical creatures? Yes, please! The stakes are impossibly high, the emotions are raw, and the romance—absolutely electric.
The twists hit hard, especially as truths are revealed that change everything. Watching the heroine face impossible choices, especially with time running out, had me flipping pages like my life depended on it. The chemistry between her and Slade Baines is intense and unforgettable.
The Realm, the magic, the danger—it all builds to a breathtaking finale that left me in awe. If you love fierce heroines, heart-pounding action, and romance that burns, this one’s a must-read.
While I was quickly hooked on the series and plowed through the books as fast as possible, I found myself dragging this one out because I didn’t want it to end. Most of the characters have found their soulmates though, so it was time. The fact that Hunter and her friends had to not only defeat Amalia but also make it through a deadly labarynth maze was not entirely expected and added another level of anticipation. The twists and turns in the series continue to the very end, keeping you captivated throughout the entire journey.
I really enjoyed this series and think it’s my favorite out of all of Frost’s books that I’ve read so far. The main storyline may be complete for Hunter, but I’m happy to see that there are spin-off books that I can devour next.
not an all time fav but i really liked this series which i stumbled across randomly so def deserve a 5 star! also, happy that im keeping my 2025 goals to read and finish series in a timely manner especially when it's all out!
i decided to skip book 3 which is Assassin's Menace (seems to be the story of Cain and Archer which their story continues in this one) but i was okay with not reading it. if you skip it, it does seems like their romance was pretty random but just keep in mind a whole book happened with their story so it doesnt feel it was instalove.
overall great read/cozy urban fantasy, Slade though <3 havent read a sweet yet with a good balance of alpha protective hero in a fantasy setting for a while so it was a breath of fresh air
What an amazing ending! Totally blew my mind! Once again, Everly met all my expectations in the Assassin's Magic series! A series that you must read in order and the companion book also!
In this amazing conclusion, Hunter, Slade, Tansy, Cain, Lutz and Riley rushes to defeat Lady Tirelli, the time is ticking against Hunter and they must do everything they can, even if it means aligning themselves with Archer Ryan to do so. This is one amazing conclusion and one amazing roller coaster ride to the end! I love the adventure, the action and of course the amazing chemistry that Hunter and Slade have. What a great way to end! Thank you Everly for writing this amazing series!!
Some series you don't want to end. This is one of them.
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing series and end. I love how every story and clue given in previous books finally tied up in this one. I love the character development and relationships developed over these 4 books, and i am so so sad this is the end of the stories but I hope its not the end of their world. I would love to read a story on Lutz, Parker, Rowan, Ebony and Brandon. I also think a shorter story about Anna/Gareth/Ridley and Surt would be a fun and fascinating read. I highly recommend anyone who loves a good story about growth, love, relationships and mytholical figures such as valkyries to pick this up!
This is it....the ultimate Assassin's book by Everly! Hunter and Archer are one hell of a badass team, than add in Slade and Cain....the gates of hell are opening and the Valkyrie Queen needs to watch her back! Incredible, exciting, heartbreaking, it's a roller coaster of emotions and action and I couldn't get enough! Best world building in the entire series, the characters were an amazing and down right powerful and the storyline, I didn't think it could be any more odd and perfect at the same time and make the whole book stand out for what it is... awesomeness!!!
This was a FANTASTIC conclusion to this epic series. Other than wanting to know what happened with Cain and Archer (and by extension Lutz and Parker) during that week they were all apart. I felt like every single loose thread and plot point was addressed. Granted some things were a little dumber than others (we still don’t quite know how Josiah Banes was able to get Amalia and her daughter’s feathers, but of well). Anyway, this was a great story all around.
Assassin’s Maze is the final book in the Assassin’s Magic series, and what an amazingly addictive ending it is.
Wow what an ending. The last book in the series, is to their perfect conclusion. It’s full of emotion, battles, friendships and plot twists that you won’t be able to put the book down.
Right from the first book the Assassin’s Magic series become one of my favourites, and one I highly recommend.
Side note: The reading order is: 1. Assassin’s Magic 2. Assassin’s Mask 2.5 Assassin’s Menace (recommend checking this out before book 3) 3. Assassin’s Maze
This is a stunningly brilliant conclusion to the Assassins story. I have been sucked into the world of the assassins from the very first book and have been gripped throughout. I love the dynamics between all of the characters and how all of them developed throughout the books. Their relationships are complex and perfectly interwoven together to form the sort of friendship bonds people strive to have. I can not recommend this series of books enough, they have love, laughs, drama and action.
The beginning of this book does overlap a little bit with book 3, but not by much. The overlap starts when Hunter figures out who and where archer is. The meaning of Hunter and archer was very interesting. We learned a little bit more about Vlad in this book as well. I really like the maze that they had to go through to get to the feathers. The Valkyrie queen finally gets what she deserved as well. I listen to this book on audible and it was the same narrator as the previous books in this series.
Woah! What an amazing conclusion to a sensational series. The heart wrenching adventures of FMC Hunter as she finds herself, her love and her purpose but not without the challenges, tormoil and tragedies that go along with personal growth. Perfect ending that made my heart happy. I hope to see more of Tansy, of Dean, of Parker and the others who sidelines this journey. Definately a series not to be missed.
Wow i totally love archer shes so strong physically and mentally, her and cain are a great pair there chemistry is off the charts hot and im so happy they get to be together in this one. Hunter and slade wowzers vlad and tansy i really wana see them together tansy is so much more powerful then she even realises i hope we get a vlad and tansy book... i need more hunter as the guardian thats guna be hard but wicked...
What an adventure we have experienced with Hunter, Slade and the rest of the assassins. With events at the beginning of this book intermingled with events in Assassin’s Menace, it was an exciting and unexpected perspective on the relationship between the Keres and the Valkyrie. In the end, I’m so content with the way the story concludes. The characters have been so thoroughly developed throughout the series, and Assassin’s Maze definitely wraps up each character’s loop. Per usual, Everly’s writing is impeccable, captivating, and overall excellent. Highly recommend this series as a whole!
CAN I JUST SAY IM SO GLAD THAT HUNTER AND ARCHER HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION!! I was worried this book might go down the “we’re mortal enemies routes bc history said so” with hunter and archer but nope: hunter was honest, archer listened well and boom we have a powerful duo ready to fight evil. I think my fav parts of the book were the interactions between the 3 main couples and how they’ve all grown in their friendships/relationships. Such a fun read!!
This series was fantastic! I loved every one of the characters (Archer is honestly my favourite) and the story just drew me right in. I read the books so quickly I found it really difficult to put them down! Even had tears in a couple of them. Looking forward to finding out what happens with Tansy and Alexei now! Thank you Everly for your amazing imagination that creates these emotional and exciting stories.
I was really into this series, but as it went on I seem to lost a bit of interest. I found there was too much fighting, like too much detail, I found my mine was wondering a bit.... I think bits of it could have been packed down a bit to keep the flow of the book going. However i still enjoyed it. I will defiantly be trying more from this author if my library gets some more audiobook. Oh and the narrator was good and easy to listen to.
This is an emotional cumulation of the stories. Yes there is a novella that extends the story, however, this is the best. So good. So much emotion and feeling. This story line is amazing and I appreciate the twists, turns and feelings it evokes. It is a world of its own with enough true lore to make it something more. Highly recommend this series. Loved it and my new friends that I have watched grow and change.
This is the last book in the series from Hunters perspective it ends in a happy place but leaves it open for the next book.
This book starts with some overlap with Archer's book but the events are from Hunter's perspective until it merges into one timeline.
I have to admit I love this one all the truths laid bare among the group and them coming together to fight Amalia and find a cure for both Hunters and Archers problems.
