For everyone who has been afraid to get involved with environmentalism because it seems to worldly, this is the book for you.

We have been given a great gift, that everyone needs to be a land steward for.

If you look at my read list, you will see that land stewardship is an important in my daily life. It’s well past time for believers to help pick up the mess. But it is not too late.

This book is an incredible source of information and how it brings in a biblical perspective on creation and how best to care for the planet is really well done. I like that at the end of each chapter there are notes on what we can do to safeguard the sector that the chapter spoke on (for instance, wetlands, the ocean, soil, etc). It gave me a lot to think about - and not just from a faith viewpoint - but obtainable ways to make a difference and leave the world in a better place for generations after me. There are a few resources that are quoted at the end of the chapters that are available only for US citizens (like checking out your own carbon footprint on the EPA website) but either way, the book and the other resources in the EPA site provide are valuable troves of information and I’m glad the book highlights where to find more information.

Where can a Christian turn for wisdom in today’s world full of misinformation? This author turns to the Bible, using real world examples, to give thoughtful and obedient Christians timely information about caring for the earth.

As the author points out in the oft-quoted passage John 3:16, “for God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.” The Greek word he used, kosmos, refers to the entire universe. This is one of the first scriptures I memorized and is meaningful.

Many other books on environmentalism are merely scientific—without spiritual insights. However, there are many ageless truths within this book that even an atheist can see as undeniable wisdom.

This book is full of God’s word, common sense, and easy to implement ideas, giving you a hand up to feel good about doing your part for His creation.

This is an excellent book for home schoolers or autodidacts (self learners) of any age. It is well-organized, well-written, well-researched, and comprehensive.

The carefully planned organization makes it easy to pick and choose pieces as needed. You can keep it on hand as a reference book for earth studies projects or read it from cover to cover for a class on the world we live in.

I’m grateful to the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to read this book and apply its principles.

Listen, this should be required reading in the church. The connection between climate change and the Christian life is irrefutable, and Betsy does SUCH a fantastic job of simply laying out the climate problem, the biblical perspective, and how we can make a difference. I’m constantly overwhelmed by the magnitude of the climate crisis, but this little book has helped me simplify the problem while also giving me tangible ways I can act to help restore our planet NOW. So so so good.

Ever so slightly different from The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, this book does not begin with the last day on planet Earth. However, I would reckon that Painter may be trying to get the point across that we are not so far from it if we keep treating this cool ball of water, dirt, and trees we exist on as we currently do. Beautiful illustrations and explanations, as well as countless practical ways to take care of aforementioned tree, dirt, water ball.

What a wonderful little book. Recommend to anyone unsure of what “creation care” may mean for them. Beautiful illustrations and clear explanations of so many different systems on our common home. I received an advance copy but I will be gifting some copies to friends and relatives!

This is a lovely read for anyone who is teetering on the edge of engaging in caring for the planet God gave us but isn’t sure exactly where to start. It’s accessible, an easy read, with a ton of beautiful and engaging images throughout. It’s fast-paced with short, relevant information on each major facet of the environment. The sections are divided intuitively, and I really loved the sheer ABUNDANCE of resources for readers that Painter thought to include.

I picked this up because I was expecting to be disappointed with a Christian’s worldview (I usually am when it comes to caring for the earth), but this was so massively refreshing. It made me want to scream from the rooftops “WHY DON’T MORE PEOPLE WHO PROFESS CHRIST CARE ABOUT THIS?!” I ate this up, and I can’t wait to recommend it to friends who are interested in caring for our precious earth.

This book is awesome! It doesn’t as deep as I would like but nevertheless this book is constructed and presents information in such a simple and beautiful way.

The diagrams are so pleasing to look at and easy to read. And the end of each chapter there are short practicals that help inform and motivate the reader.

I’d recommend this for all believers as a great and short resource to learn and understand creation care.

Great and much needed book. Beautiful that it follows along Scripture.

Even though it would be beautiful to have it written not primarily for the US (there is no indication for this specific target group before purchasing the book), but for the whole world. It is also heavily overloaded with information and practical tips - if someone would follow only a fraction of those suggestions one would not have time anymore for THEOS.

Entirely missing is the stimulation of intrinsic motivation, e.g. through field reports of people being involved in any of those practices to save the environment. A listing of possibilities is not enough if the motivation to pursue those is not really provided.
