Rook: The Rise

Rate this book
Power isn’t given. It’s taken.

Rhakeem “Rook” Moore grew up torn between two worlds—a father who ran the streets like a king, and a mother who prayed he’d never follow that path. But in the unforgiving corners of his city, survival means sacrifice. No one’s coming to save him.

With sharp instincts and a mind built for the long game, Rook steps out of the shadows to claim what no one thought he control. The climb is brutal—friends become rivals, love becomes a liability, and betrayal cuts the deepest when it’s close to home.

Every king starts as a pawn. But not every pawn becomes a king.

The Rise is a gritty urban coming-of-age story about strategy, power, and transformation. Perfect for fans of The Coldest Winter Ever, Power, and Snowfall.

If the streets are a chessboard, Rook is ready to play.

Quick, attention grabbing read

Quick but entertaining and thought provoking read. Can’t wait to see what Rook’s storyline is throughout the next two books.
