Marion MacAlister wants to nail her audition, not get nailed. Truly. Honestly. All right...maybe she does want to get nailed, but that's just because her hottie landlord and local diner owner Mack Ryan is confusing her with his mouth.
Can friends become lovers? Especially friends who might not even be friends in the first place?
Going Down is the sexy and hilarious first novella in the five-part Wish Upon A Stud series.
Wish Upon A Stud...A happy ending is just a coin toss away.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.
Going Down is Marion and Mack's story. They've been neighbors for 2 years and have been dancing around their mutual attraction until they both get stuck in an elevator where Mack finally makes a move.
What a cute story! This had just the right touch of humor and playful banter between the main characters. It's pretty short, so this makes a perfect read in between longer books.
I also listened to the audiobook and the narrator is fantastic. She has the perfect voice for the crazy heroines in these books.
Mack he tells it how he sees it, "you are skinny. You're got no a**, no boobs, and your collarbones are sticking out." Oh Mack and Marion have some funny moments: "You're really big," I note. "Oh, you have no idea," he says. To prove it, his hands slip under my a**, and he lifts me. He pushes me against his ever-growing bulge, which threatens to bust through his button-fly." He loves to demonstrate things, "this." He pushes me up against the car. His hands reach behind my thighs, and he lifts me up, fitting himself between my legs." And one scene killed me, "he furrows his brow. "I'm fine," he gasps, finally. "My testicles are tucked away next to my appendix now, but I'm fine." I feel guilty about kicking him. I hope the damage isn't permanent. I was planning on using that part of his anatomy." Short, sweet, entertaining and funny just the way I like my books.
I absolutely LOVED this quick, spicy, cute as heck novella!!! Marion was so dramatic and quirky. I loved everything about her. She was completely adorable. Mack has been her “not really friend” land lord and diner operator that feeds her for two years. They have a snarky little relationship that borders on the edge of intense attraction that Marion has been trying to avoid. Now, her day just got derailed and Mack is there to help steer it in his direction.
There were so many laugh out loud moments that anyone around would’ve thought I’d lost my mind. This is my first by this author and holy heck…I definitely need more!
Marion MacAlister has been renting an apartment from Mack Ryan in the building in which Mack runs his diner for the past two years. The two have had a crush on each other for the entire time but usually bicker back and forth. When the building's old elevator gives out the sparks fly for Mack and Marion.
I had to give this novella four stars just based on how much I was giggling and laughing all the way through with lines like "You're like Tom and Jerry, but horny" It's a cute tale of a couple that fight their attraction by quarreling over every little thing when together. Marion's maturity level was a bit low with some of her antics but that really just made the story even funnier.
This was a very quick and easy novella at only 101 pages but it was fun and sexy at the same time. The banter between Marion and Mack was hilarious and the chemistry was undeniable. Marion was one of those quirky characters that speaks before she thinks and thinks the strangest things. The more the two fought the more I wanted them together.
I was looking for a story that was easy and entertaining that didn't require deep concentration or a big time commitment and Going Down fit the bill perfectly. I now need to read the rest of the Wish Upon a Stud series to see if all of the characters are as quirky and likeable as they were in this one.
Going Down was downright hilarious; Marion McAlister was a walking disaster. She wished upon Esperanza’s wishing well to nail her acting audition but ended up getting stuck inside the elevator, with Mack Ryan, her landlord, food provider, best friend all rolled into one.
Mack, oh Mack.. I don't get Marion's issues with him.. She's been using blinders for the past two years, ignoring Mack's discreet advances and sultry looks. If I were Marion, I'd get his number immediately and stop throwing furtive glances at him. But Marion's hilarity was what made her real and hysterically funny. I can't get over her mishaps around Mack, from the elevator to the conveience store, up to the fishing boat. This girl is mad and I love her!
Elise Sax Wish Upon A Stud series is super cute, fun to read and is sure to give you some laughs! Going down is full of laugh out loud moments and melt your heart awes.. Mack is super sweet and yummy!Marion is witty and cute! They are so good together! :)
This book was sweet in a sickly way too much too soon for me . You gave two people who talk at a diner for two years that suddenly fall in love and do it .....ehhhh not buying it . This series isn't for me but it is quirky and some laugh out loud moments for sure
Another funny, light, sensual read from Ms. Elise Sax! It was short, but didn't feel it. I instantly wanted more of Mack and Marion. He has been fighting an attraction for quite some time and suddenly their situation changes. Their situation no longer allows them to fight the attraction they may have once denied.
The kicker, they've been on again off again friends for several years. Can their friendship survive the confusing situation? You'll have to read this story to find out, but once you do I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's short, sweet, funny and will leave ready for book 2!
Friends to lovers trope with plenty of laugh out loud moments!
Marion was a riot and Mack was yummy. :)
My only gripe is that it ended abruptly. Like a cliffhanger. But the next books in this novella series are about different couples. Do we have to read on to see what happens to Mack & Marion? Or is this it?
What I loved about this book was how funny it was,it was a really lighthearted book. Not over dramatic, just right.Short story though, ended before I even realized it.
I loved this RomCom. It’s absolutely hilarious! I mean laugh-out-loud, tears in my eyes funny. And the characters were great. This couple lived in the same building and had been bickering for the past 2 years so it’s no wonder Marion didn’t realize Mack loved her. I liked that this story didn’t have the couple in raunchy lust but hot, passionate love. Follow this wanna-be actress and diner/apartment owner in this quick, funny love story. You won’t want to miss it.
The version I have contains books 1-5 of the series. after reading Going Down and skimming the next 3, I don't know if I want to continue. There is some fun banter (but it may only appeal to certain senses of humor) but I noticed a lot of repetitive words and phrases (like calling sex "doing the nasty", the h jumping onto the H when he wasn't expecting it, poor communication/misunderstandings/assuming rather than just asking) etc.
Well that was a fun quick read, I saw this pimped out on Facebook with the dare::: Go on I dare you to just read the first chapter! - hmmm I only put this down because I got called into work, but not until I had devoured 4 chapters.
This make me chuckle out loud a few times. The book starts with Marion throwing her silver dollar into the infamous wishing fountain, wishing for her life to change only the wish she wishes for doesn't happen, but she does end as if she is the cat who got the cream!
Mation and Mack, woohoo what a hottie, you had me at Channing Tatum!
They spend the day together, having a few hilarious disasters, they do enjoy each others company though! Marion didn't quite understand what it appears that everyone else did!
The disasters are quite funny and the sexy scenes were sizzling.
They were great together, can't wait for the rest of the series.
Elise Sax has done it again. Mack and Marion are just so good together. Marion makes a wish in the local fountain because she needs to get a job. However, what you get from a wish is so much better - thanks to Elise. A short and fun smexy romp. I can hardly wait to read more in this series.
I really enjoyed this. It was so cute and funny! I liked how determined he got, despite the many 'mishaps'. The hilarious mishaps. Haha! And the ending! I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend. <3
A quick fun read! Mack and Marion have been friends for two years. When unexpected events land the two together. It becomes quite obvious that these two are meant to be together. I loved Raine she was a great secondary character.
Very unique style of writing. comical with romance. I'm not sure if I was really into this story but the samples from two different books of hers look like something I would want to read. I really do enjoy her style.
A quick fun read. It's got some funny lines but everything seemed to happen in hyper mode. Cute H&h. Decent enough filler of a read. And hey, it's free!:D
This was one hot funny sexy story. Marion..you need someone to take care of you Mack...just take care of Marion please such chemistry wow loved it loved it loved it loved it
