Glamour, Gurus, and Grievous Bodily Harm!

In fashionable Bloomsbury, a dashing guru dazzles the elite with promises of wisdom, wealth, and spiritual enlightenment. But behind the incense and inspiration lies a web of lies—and Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James suspect something fishy. Their hunch? This so-called sage is part of a sinister syndicate mixing mysticism with murder to fund a shadowy spy ring.

To get the goods on the guru, the Baker Street team sends Amy Thiel—Inspector Gregson’s fearless (and feisty) sweetheart—undercover into his glittering inner circle. But trouble isn’t far behind! Lucy’s husband Jack is framed for a scandalous crime, Flynn gets into a scuffle with his old nemesis, the Burner (posing as a brawling bobby), and Amy’s daring mission puts her in serious hot water.

With Holmes and Lucy leading the charge, the team navigates Bloomsbury’s posh parlors and polished facades to uncover the truth. Can they outwit the crooks, clear Jack’s name, and shine a light on Bloomsbury’s darkest secrets before the guru’s grand scheme reaches dangerous new heights?

Perfect for fans of Conan Doyle’s wit, Agtha Christie’s twists, and capers full of clever fun, The Bloomsbury Guru is a sparkling blend of intrigue, humor, and high-society sleuthing.

She was delighted to lend a hand with the Sherlock & Lucy series, and thrilled to continue a new spin-off series featuring Becky and Flynn. THE BLOOMSBURY GURU begins with a new voice… Amy Thiel, who first appeared in POWDER ISLAND. As you will recall, her father was murdered when the family gunpowder factory blew up. Amy's point of view changes some of the dynamics we have come to know, but her perspective is sound except when it comes to her own feelings. You will also recall that Inspector Gregson was put in charge of that case.

Once again, Holmes is investigating The Syndicate albeit as covertly as possible while his team looks into a very suspicious guru that has taken up teaching at The Institute of the Western Dawn. One of the Western Dawn's clients is dead by supposed accident and another is missing now for several weeks. Holmes, of course, has plans for dealing with both mysteries.

Holmes chief Irregular, Flynn, often provides insight to the treatment of London's street urchins by the police. If you've read Jack London's PEOPLE OF THE ABYSS, the mistreatment rings true. It would seem that the misdeeds of police have a long history.

Somehow, whenever I read a Sherlock and Lucy book, the phrase "oh what a wicked web we weave…" seems to pop into my head. As you follow along with the exploits of Amy, Lucy, Watson, and Flynn, you will find that, once again, the team of Veley and Elliott have captured the essence of the Sherlock Holmes canon.

THE BLOOMSBURY GURU is the first of three interconnected tales that comprise the 'season finale' for this year. At the end of the book, you will find chapters from the next book HOLMES TAKES A HOLIDAY. To be honest, I didn't read them; I went to the Kindle Store and bought the book. I always mention that in order to appreciate the series, you really need to start with Book 1, THE LAST MORIARTY, and binge your way through all of them.

The Bloomsbury Guru is book #28 in the Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mystery series by Anna Elliott and Charles Veley.

Amy Thiel from Powder Island is in love with Inspector Gregson. She goes undercover to help Sherlock Holmes investigate The Institute of the Western Dawn to help Gregson. Lucy, Flynn, Becky, and Watson are all involved investigating various aspects of the case.

I like how the chapters are told from various character’s point of view. It really feels true to a Sherlock Holmes mystery. This is the first book of a trilogy so the story is to be continued in the next book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Lucy James and Sherlock Holmes

Another installment in this Sherlock Holmes pastiche, which I have read all 26 available. This story is a cliffhanger and also is linked to the previous edition, so read all the books in order to follow the plot. I enjoy the fast moving story line and action of this book along with the historical accuracy of the turn of the century time period. The only negative I found a couple typos that I marked for editing. I would recommend this series for anyone who loves Sherlock Ho!mes and historical mysteries that can be read in one sitting. I cannot wait for the next installment.

I am absolutely furious about the Kindle edition of this book which I bought and set out to read in one marathon session. Imagine my surprise when it ended with one of the heroines locked in some kind of trunk and for no reason except that the authors evidently think it's a great idea!!
I will never buy another book by These 2 stupid authors and I suggest you avoid them too! What a cheap and pointless trick to pull. I want nothing to do with such sadists. zWhat kind of publisher or editor would sanction such a cheap trick? Or is this a self published book and the authors think that this is a way to get fools to buy the next book in the series? Think again idiots.

1900 Amy Thiel has requested to be become involved in an investigation, and so Sherlock Holmes sends her to The Institue of Western Dawn, as two ladies have changed their will leaving their considerable wealth to the Institute. One of them has now died and the other has disappeared.
Meanwhile the investigation by the police of the death of Inspector Glenn, a member of The Synicate, is still underway.
Another entertaining and well-written Holmes mystery with its cast of likeable and varied characters. This book is Part 1 of a trilogy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another fine entry into the Sherlock and Lucy mystery series. The plot surrounding the Syndicate thickens with the Bloomsbury Guru's enigmatic influence on wealthy women who can finance the crimes the Syndicate commit. But now one turns up dead after willing her fortune to the Guru's Ashram. Many of the sub-plots continue as well making for a complex yet exciting read. Much recommended for the cozy mystery fan. My four stars was to show that a reader needs to be a regular follower of the series as this story is not of the "stand alone" variety.

This was a fun read. One of the characters from Powder Island is helping them with the mystery. Once again a lot is going on, but never too much to follow. I really like Lucy James. She is a strong, intelligent woman who is also works well in the team. The character from Powder Island is as well.

Thank you to the authors for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.,

A new series and I am sold on expanding Holme's influence and allowing aspects of his intelligence and humanity to sneak in. I encourage the authors to continue to explore the personality traits of aesthetic appreciation, creativity, and unconventionally of which Conon Doyle used masterfully into the expanding cast with Lucy and Tobias. Bravo, I am already into the next few novels.

I have been enjoying this series but I the last 2 books they haven’t completed the stories. This one left the reader with a cliff hangar. It may be the end of the series for me. I will give them one more chance. Up til now I gave the books in the series 4 stars.

Two very different plots mashed together with an unsatisfactory outcome. I’m also increasingly disturbed by the way the four adults in the story continually allow 12 year old Becky and Flynn to be in mortal danger. Not one of my favorite books in the series.

I listened to it on Audible with virtual voice. The story was fine, but the virtual voice caused difficulty in understanding who was speaking. The story does not finish, so I must listen to the next book to continue the story.

A new-to-me series, and obviously have not read the previous books, but I still found it extremely exciting and I am so totally sold. A charismatic swarmi enticing rich bored gullible ladies to find enlightenment and of course donate generously to the cause but Holmes suspects that this is a front for a much more deadly organisation.

I love the way that the chapters are written, each being attributed to different characters and what happens in their world. Great plot, but it ends on a cliff hanger! How many nails will I chew out before the next book?!
