This is the first I have read in this series and I enjoyed it. I love a suspenseful and intriguing story. The characters are fantastic too, a lot of Plot twists and what the hell moments (which I love) but the romance I felt was lacking a bit, no wow! to me just ok...but I would like to read more in this series and by this author I would jut want more romance and sexier too, not much sexy either but over all a good book. 3.5 to 4 stars
No time is wasted in throwing the reader right into the action in this suspenseful thriller. FBI Agent Mallory Burke’s cover’s been blown and she’s tied up in the back of a car being taken to the leader of a human trafficking ring. Luck is on her side when that location happens to be up in the mountains where its currently snowing heavily. She manages to get away when the vehicle crashes and then passes out in front of a cabin.
Gage Broderick isn’t too happy to open the door and have a woman fall into his arms. He’s on leave from the police department and wants nothing to do with people. Its not till much later in the book we find out why Gage is so antisocial and crabby and its heartbreaking. Mallory after what’s she’s been through isn’t too trusting of Gage at first but its not long before they call a truce and Gage works to get her back to town so she can tell the FBI what she knows. Gage decides to stay in town and help Mallory find the missing girls and to take down the leader.
The pace of this one changed a lot. Sometimes that doesn’t work but it certainly did here. This isn’t an overly long book but its got everything it needs to keep you on the edge of your seat and flipping the pages.
FBI Special Agent Mallory Burke and Police Captain Gage Broderick meet in an isolated mountain cabin in New York State when her cover is blown and she escapes from the human trafficking ring on the way to a mountain cabin owned by the leader of the ring. The car she is riding in crashes in a snowstorm, killing her two captors and she escapes into a snowstorm. Gage finds her unconscious on his front steps and they start an action packed hunt for the men holding a group of young women waiting transport to buyers outside the United States.
Toward the end when Mallory is captured, Gage gets a break and finds out the leader is not the gangster they had been working to get evidence against but another public official. The exciting conclusion keeps the reader in suspense to the very end, which I love in a good thriller with really bad guys. The romance that develops between Gage and Mallory is a great bonus and helps Gage open up to what has him hiding in the mountains and letting go of some of his hurt to move on with his live.
Snowbound is an exciting thriller, a sweet and emotion filled love story with two strong heroes working hard to track down the bad guys and bring justice and release the twelve young women that are prisoners waiting to be sold into slavery.
The second book in this series is now directed to johns sister that works for the fbi. One day her cover was broken at a club that she was undercoverver with and on their way to a mountain cottage she somehow escaped and found her way to another cabin, but not just any cabin but a captain with washington pd. Together they worked together to find the missing girls.
I couldn't put this book down. It had a few flaws but they could be overlooked with the excitement going on at the time. I have read all of her protectors series and can't wait for the next one..
I have recommended her to friends and family with raving reviews even from my sister who doesn't read romances. Wonderful
This is book two in this series . I am really enjoying this series . I recommend this series. It had a lot of thrills which I really in joy. This series keeps you in suspense until the end . Worth reading.
This is the third book that I have read by this author, and they all seem to be the same. I will finish the series but I don’t have much hope in the plots changing. The narrator was very good. I would listen to more books by her.
Another quick read from this series. While interesting I didn't get caught up in this book, the first was definitely more interesting to me. But the twist in finding out who was really behind the whole trafficking was a surprise. Way to pull someone out of left field!
This book was fast paced with lots of snuggle up in a log cabin in a snowstorm action. Enjoyed the entire book and loved both the H / H. Narration by Andrea Bates was spot on.
This starts out with action and ends the same way. I found this to be as good as the first book in this series. The author gives you an action pack thrilling read with a wonderful romance as she takes you on the hunt for 12 women who have been taken. It starts out with Agent Mallory being taken to a car as they tell her just what they will do to her when they get her there. She knows her time is short as she takes her life in her own hands. She must get away and help these women. As the car she is in has an accident she isn’t sure if this is a blessing or not as she is on the run for her life as takes off on foot in a raging snow storm. Her hike takes her to a cabin is this someone who will helper or is this the cabin her killers where going to take her to?
This is where the story really gets interesting as she tries to work out if she is in a friendly camp. The author puts a little humor as Mallory works out just who and what Gage is. There are some really funny scenes as Mallory goes between if he is with the killers or not. Poor Gage just doesn’t know what to think when this crazy woman who is almost dead falls on his doorstep.
Mallory is a go getter not letting grass grow under her feet. She is a lovely character who is strong but has a past that still haunts her. Helping find these 12 women and who is behind them being taken could go a long way to heal her pain and maybe bring closure to a past she can’t forget.
Gabe he is one hot little number who also has a haunting past of the worse kind. He can find no peace from the pain and hurt he has caused. He blames his self with no relief in sight. All he knows is he wants to be left alone in his pain. What is the fast way to get this crazy woman out of his home so he can go back to putting in time in a world that has gone crazy?
The author gives a wonderful plot with humor, passion, pain, sorrow, love. Two people trying to work out their past and overcome things they feel were their fault. Both needing so much maybe these two if they can ever come together on the same page can heal each other as they learn to rebuild their lives. The author gives you wonderful characters as she keeps you guessing to the outcome. Just when you think you have the man in charge of these crimes worked out you might want to rethink that and look a little harder. The author doesn’t give much away as she tells a wonderful story which is pack full of action from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more in this series with Karen’s wonderful smooth writing style as she gives you a wonderful thrilling suspense.
I listen to this on audio and thought the narrator did a good job. She isn’t the best but not the worse by far. I thought sometimes her tones were a little off and at other times right on the money. I would listen to other audios she has narrated. She does bring life to the pages the author has written, she does have a smoothing soft voice which is easy to listen to. Well worth the listen…
I would recommend this book in either the audio or written, both are outstanding. I felt it had just enough passion and romance to keep the story interesting. The action was thrilling and it did keep me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next.
Loved this book. The suspense grabbed me at the beginning & kept me reading until I finished. The dialogue & plot keeps you on your toes as you read & the writer tosses in unexpected twists to keep you going. On to Book 3!
I love books which grip you from the front page to the last and this book did not disappoint!!
This romantic suspense takes you on the hunt for 12 abducted women. Agent Mallory has also been abducted and it's up to her to free herself and get help for these women. When the vehicles is in an accident she seizes her opportunity and makes off in the snowstorm. She turns up at a remote cabin and hopes that the killers can't track her and that the owner can help her.
The author injects humour as Mallory tries to determine in what camp Gage sits!! Poor Gage just doesn’t know what to make of this nutty on his doorstep.
Mallory is a take charge woman, not a wimpy damsel in distress but she has something in her past which haunts her. Gage also has a haunting past and can't seem to find the peace he seeks. He blames himself and wants to be left alone with his pain and his guilt. How fast can he get rid of this woman and go back to avoiding the world?
Fantastic plot with humour, romance, searing passion and heartfelt pain. I love it when you think you've susses the bad guys and then blam - spanner in the works!!!
Well worth the read and I'm seriously considering more works by this author.
Audiobook narrated by Andrea Bates. Nope. Too many problems.
I enjoyed another audio from this author. Unfortunately my one-book happy streak is over. Here's what I couldn't make work for me: * Narrator is a poor match for the material. Her reading was distracting. * Plot holes like Swiss cheese. * Geography oh my gawd. One minute they're in the Adirondacks and then lickety split they're in DC, a minute later back in New York. It's as if they had those personal jet packs we were promised. My head was spinning. * We never ever call DC "Washington" EVER. We call it DC. It's the DCPD, not Washington PD. And DC is definitely not a 10 minute drive from NY.
Mallory is an FBI agent that has been captured by a human trafficking ring after her cover has been blown as a bar tender at the strip club she was undercover. She manages to get away after a fatal car accident in a blizzard and ends up passing out on the porch of the cabin that Gage has been staying at for the last 6 months. He is also a policeman no longer on duty due to a painful past. They are trapped in whiteout conditions with monsters that want her and now him dead.
This book is one of eleven within the Heroes In Uniform: Soldiers, SEALs, Spies, Rangers and Cops anthology.
While Snowbound started off with a bang, I felt as if it only made the book get hotter with each page turn. I could honestly feel the hostility, anger, lust, and longing with each paragraph. Well worth the time and I am going to order the rest of the series to see what happens next.
Snowbound is the second book in The Protectors series. I enjoyed the suspense of the story. The romance between Mallory and Gage was okay I wish there was a little more sexiness. Overall the book is a good read and I look forward to reading more in this series.
