Met the author and got a pre-release comiccon exclusive copy of this book at Lexington Comic Con, 2015. The author was very friendly and nice to talk with and when I asked her about the story, she told me the overall concept. It was really intriguing and different - something I hadn't read about before.
The first book is from Alice's perspective. It's a little more about growing up, and her trying to survive with this newfound alien DNA that's coursing through her, but it introduces all of the characters and gives us a great look into her world. The narrator's voice is so real and natural, too - I really believed that 14-year-old Alice was telling me this entire story and that is what made me dive into book II so quickly.

Book 2 is from Brian's perspective - the kid has a fairly dark past and a lot of underlying issues that cause him to come across as a little moody sometimes, but it makes him the perfect likable character. David will blow you mind ... the psycho! But at the same time, I REALLY want to know his story. What's his problem? Who is he??

Book 3 is from Kareena's POV from what I've heard. I want to know what's going on in her perfect little head ;)

Fluorescence is new, unique and definitely on the road to becoming a bestseller. I'm in for the ride! WOOT! book 3!! 2016!

This ending though. I knew it was going to be a cliffhanger but what the heck. I need Fallout (book 3) ASAP! I loved how this book was told by Brian's POV instead of Alice's yet I still sometimes forgot it was being told from his point of view and still thought I was reading as Alice, however the overall book was amazing, I loved how you could see the writing style improve throughout the book and the overall storyline is just picking up and leaving you wanting more. Cant wait for book 3!!!1

My Review:

First off I would like to say thank you to P. Anastasia for sending me a copy of Fire Starter & Contagious to review. This in no way swayed my opinion of the books.

Contagious was written in Brian’s POV & it broke my heart. Brian is my favorite character in this series & to see him go through all this makes me so sad.

I did love seeing the story through his mind ( his POV ), but I hate that he has to go through so much.

One thing I think we can all take away from Brian’s character is to stay strong through hard times. Brian stays strong through it all!

Let’s talk about the characters:

Brian: Like is said this book was written from his POV & I couldn’t have been more excited to read it since finishing Fire Starter. I love Brian & his good hearted nature. He always makes the right decisions & thinks about everyone even though his home life isn’t all that great. I do have to admit I am pretty sad his POV is over. I would love to keep reading in his POV, but I think it will also be interesting to experience other characters perspective on the story.

Alice: I think through different POVs you get to learn about each character in their book more than the other books, which makes sense. In this book I felt disconnected from Alice in a way. That wasn’t a bad thing seeing as how it was Brian’s POV, but it did feel kind of weird I guess from where I was so used to her in the las book then it changed up. I still think she is a great character in this book as well! She is so sweet & very thoughtful.

Kareena: I liked her more in this book then in past books when I really didn’t know what to think of her. Her POV is the next book & I am excited to learn more about her. I think I will understand her better once I read her POV.

David: I really don’t understand David. LOL I guess I will learn about him in the last book, his POV, & more in Kareena’s, but he is one interesting character.

The ending, like Fire Starter, makes you want to binge read this whole series. All around this book series is great! I’m kind of sad about leaving Alice & Brian’s POVs. I love those two & their love story. They are adorable together & you can clearly see their love for each other!

I would highly recommend this book to my followers that are scfi lovers or for people who love different POVs! I have become addicted to these books & I can’t wait to get reading Fallout.

This book was non-stop action. In Book 1, Brian and Alice were 14 and 15 year old immature kids. But in this book, they’re only a year older, but they’ve had to grow up fast. The alien “Saviors” keep taking them out of their lives so Kareena can find those with fluorescence, David can heal them if they need it, and Alice can “start” them. When asked to “start” children, Alice refuses, and the aliens show their displeasure in unkind ways. I won’t include spoilers, but the stress of all of this is getting to them all, but especially Alice. And Brian keeps trying to think of a way to stop the aliens. At the end of the book, I could finally take a sigh of relief when a glimmer of hope arose. After years of reading books and watching movies about aliens, I still can’t even guess what’s going to happen next.

This book frustrated me to the point that it was a point of honor to finish it. I disliked so many things about it. The first book was okay, but this one just kept sliding lower. First up is Brian and Alice's relationship, which goes from "should 14 and 15-year-olds be this serious?" to downright abusive. Then there is the plot, which goes from meh to completely nonsensical. At this point, I honestly don't want to waste my time or words on a more thorough review, so just know that giving this series a pass is the wisest decision.

So the writing isn’t great but the storyline is intriguing. Too many pointless details that add nothing to the story. The other fly in the ointment is Brian. He’s completely selfish and obsessive and the more I read the less I liked him. By the end of the book I couldn’t stand him. He’s all moody and woe-is-me to the point where I skimmed over pages. (Also, has the author met a high school sophomore boy? Like, ever?)

Brian is a jerk in this book. I understand that I’m not the target demographic, but as a “mom age” person I have to agree with the mom’s perspective. And even NOT as a mom, he just flip flops and is a jerk most of the time. It made it difficult to finish. But I am enjoying the concept and idea behind the series.

Fluorescence: Contagious is the second book in the Fluorescence series written by P. Anastasia. The book focuses on Brian's point of view though it's about Alice, Brian and Kareena's adventure finding ways to stop the Aliens. After knowing things they didn't know they can do, the saviors started to transport them to different places letting them do things hesitantly. Will Alice, Brian and Kareena ever find a way to stop the saviors? Or they'll just go with the flow and do things according to the saviors' will?

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars! The book was great but I like the first book better. To explain it further, let's imagine this book as a movie. In my opinion, this book's the middle part. The end was a slight cliffhanger but it's fine. Besides, it's mostly what makes a book in a series.

The characters were well developed! What I love about this book was it focused on Brian's point of view. Knowing what he feels intensified the plot of the book. I didn't know a large part of him was kind of serious! Reading the first book, I thought he was carefree. But I was totally wrong! Observing a person through his actions and knowing what he feels is very different. The angle's way too different that it all came as if.. Brian was just trying to make it look easy.

I think this book's purpose was to get to know the characters well. Through reading this book, I can somehow say I know the main characters' weakness and all.
Over all, it was fantastic! It's a great read especially for those who are really interested in sci-fi. I'm not a big fan of sci-fi books but this book caught me off guard. I didn't regret it though. It was worth it!

Contagious is the second book of the Fluorescence series. This book contains Brian's pov!
After the pregnancy of Alice which was done by Saviours, there were many obstacles for all three of them! First of all, due to Brian's mother unstablity he was forced to go to foster care home... Then the pregnancy secretly being miscarriaged... And many more!
In second book, it is shown that how Saviours can Tďeletrasport them to any place in the world... And in that mean time they dissappear from their original place.!
Well, i kind of love the story but Brian acts like a little bitch all whiny and groaning when something doesn't goes according to him! Brian's pov was okay okay! I really loved Alice in this one.. At last she kind of freaked out with all that was happening to them, but who wouldn't when you get transported to sonewhere, anywhere, in the world while missing in the original place! Jane's character were superbly presented, a mom who know what kind of freak these Saviours are! A new character, David, is added who is just like Alice, Brian and Kareena, but he emits bright yellow light from himself!
Waiting for the third book, Fallout, which is Kareena's POV!

Not that book I was bad or anything, but Book II is soooooo much better. The science fiction takes off and you learn so much about their powers. I can't believe how much stuff happens! Oh, and there's a new character, too. Looooooove him already. Such a badass!

I really loved all of the side story about Brian's family life, too - it crosses the boundaries between fantasy and realism with all of the technical life stuff going on. I can say I've dealt with a little bit of Brian's home problems myself even... not cool but it hit home for me.

Fluorescence is shaping up to be a seriously unique and different kind of story.

I cannot WAAIIIIIT for BOOK III: FALLOUT!
