Premise - After the kaiju attack of Kaw City, Police Chief Brannigan Novak, and his friends attempt to return to a sense of normalcy. But while denizens of Kaw City struggle with the past, there is a whisper of a new threat—a drug-fueled, primordial alligator creature! Will Brannigan Novak and his friends overcome past trauma? Or will the Meth Gator continue its reign of terror?

I am all in for any kind of monster, creature, kaiju horror/sci-fi books. As a follow up to his book Kaw Lake I was hooked from the start. It was like binge watching your favorite movie series. The list of new characters grew which kept my attention. But the way he tethered the story arc from one book to the next was fantastic. I feel like some sci-fi sequel books skip forward or backwards with little information.

The first book I thought had everything you would want from a Monstervision movie, but this book has even more. This book had a different feel to it. The closest comparison is Lake Placid meets Overlord. From MMA fighters to meth gators, this book stretches your mind completely. I did like how the characters' relationships were explored and the emotional side of the characters came out as well.

This book has not been released yet, but if you liked Kaw Lake….you will absolutely love Meth Gator. Stay sharp and watch out your surroundings as you never know what could be lurking around.

This novel follows Brannigan Novak and his friends as they strive to overcome a tragic past event while battling a new monster haunting Oklahoma.

The story brilliantly interweaves themes of self-confidence, friendship, and honesty. Brannigan's journey from self-doubt to self-assurance is both realistic and inspiring, demonstrating the vital role of resilience even after significant failures.
The portrayal of friendship is heartfelt, showcasing how deep bonds can provide strength and support in the darkest times. Honesty, both with oneself and others, is a recurring theme that aids in healing and fortifying the characters' resolve. the novel is about learning to believe in oneself even after experiencing significant setbacks.

Brannigan’s struggle with self-doubt is portrayed with authenticity and depth, making his journey towards self-acceptance and confidence both relatable and inspiring.
The author skillfully illustrates that true courage comes not from the absence of fear, but from the ability to move forward despite it.

Overall, the novel is a poignant exploration of resilience and the power of human connection.
It is a testament to the enduring strength found in friendships and the importance of self-belief, even when confronted with the shadows of the past. Readers will find themselves deeply moved by Brannigan’s journey and the universal themes that resonate throughout the story.

Meth Gator - Ethan Richards

The monster mayhem is back for Brannigan Novak and the good ol’ folks of Kaw City, this time in the form of a drug fuelled giant Alligator!

Meth Gator is the sequel to 2022 release Kaw Lake. You could read Meth Gator as a standalone, but I would recommend reading Ethan Richards first instalment so you can fully appreciate the (full) storyline.

I feel like the character development in Meth Gator was better than in the Kaw City predecessor, exploring the emotions of the cast deeper.

Much like Kaw Lake, Meth Gator is action packed, with almost too much going on which for me became distracting, however If 80’s action creature feature movies are your thing, you’ll have a blast!

I love the 1980 movie Alligator so could not say no to this tale although it is not my typical genre. This was a fun cult classic B movie 80s vibe book. Richards hits the ground running in the prologue by quickly dispensing of a lovely couple giving a brief glimpse into what is to come. The book takes place in actual places in Oklahoma giving it a realistic feel at least for those who are familiar with the area. The characters are colorful and unique. Overall, Entertaining, action packed, complex plot set in small town filled with gore, guns, and creature feature fun!!

**I received an audiobook from Ethan Richards for review. I also purchased the ebook so I could enjoy both.**

The writing style of the author is smooth and impressive.
He narrated the story so amazingly that it almost feels like watching a movie. It's a perfect blend of sci-fi, suspense, supernatural elements, horror, monsters, action, history, friendship, healing, bravery etc.

Suspense part has kept me hooked till the end. The flow of the book is well paced which makes it a page turner read.

Overall, a thrilling read.

A return to Kaw City but with a whole new alligator, an alligator on drugs. This was a wild ride with some familiar characters from the first book Kaw, which was a 5-star read for me.
A wedding, gangsters, the mob, and a whole bunch of guns and gore.
Your imagination will go crazy over this adrenaline riddled tale. Highly recommend reading the book Kaw first, though, or else this one will be a bit far-fetched on comprehension

I liked this story for many reasons. Firstly, it highlights the importance of self-confidence even after experiencing failures. Secondly, the bond between Brannigan and his friends is both heartwarming and inspiring. Thirdly, the author masterfully combines the supernatural element with the characters' personal struggles, creating a compelling and multi-layered narrative that held my interest.

In my opinion, it's a story of healing, bravery, and the unbreakable bonds of friendship. It doesn't matter whether you prefer a thrilling read or an inspiring tale of overcoming adversity, this book has something for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good mix of suspense, emotion, and personal growth.

The foremost aspect that I liked in the story is the friendship bond. The entire story kept me hooked from the beginning. I liked the character development a lot mainly because of their qualities. There was a lot of suspense, and it was a page turner indeed. I felt like I was actually watching a movie.

I received the ARC from the author. The review is my own honest opinion. Thank you!

Like the first book, this one read and felt like a wild 80s action/creature feature, despite being set in modern times. I'm here for this kinda vibe! Yes, this means you'll encounter scifi elements, monsters, guns and explosive action, a sprinkling of alternative history, and so much more!

We do get a recap in this one, about what happens in the first book, but thankfully it's done in a way that's flashbacks and doesn't take up too much of the story. Our characters from the first book are back! And we're introduced to exciting new ones as well! And together, they must tackle yet another problem. Similar but not to what they encountered at Kaw Lake.

This book is written in multiple PoV, but instead of first person like the last book, this one is done in third. I honestly prefer that, but I figure I'd let people know it shifted to third in this book. And once again, Richards graced us with some good gory details. He's very good at writing those parts!

I will say, I liked Kaw Lake a bit better than Meth Gator. The story we follow in this one felt a tad bit disjointed between the first half and second. But that's just me! I still enjoyed it and still recommend people read it if they want more action packed 80s creature horrors and want to see where the characters end up after Kaw Lake!

😱 OMG!!! Another action packed sci-fi book. Like I said before with Kaw Lake, I am not usually a sci-fi fan but boy Ethan surely made me one. This is another Ethan book that would be awesome as a movie. I could see each scene play out. Ethan does an amazing job at vividly describing each scene.

I absolutely loved how Ethan explored the emotions of the characters more in this book. I could feel every emotion each of the characters were feeling and expressing and that was so awesome. Character development in this book was off the chain.

I absolutely love how this book explores the importance of believing in yourself and how you can have strength and support from the friends that truly care about you. Of course I absolutely loved the drug fueled alligator. I hope we see a third book.
