Who was the Melchizedek the apostle Paul spoke of in the book of Hebrews? How is his priesthood different than the priesthood of Levi? Why was the Messiah ordained after the order of Melchizedek and not after the order of Levi?
For the first time, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the ancient church fathers, and other rare history books reveal the mystery of the Ancient Order of Melchizedek.
We will learn about the order and how it is different from the order of Levi. We will see who the 10 Melchizedekian priests were, and how the order was broken up into three parts until the Messiah would come to earth to reinstate the order in its fullness. Most importantly, we will see how that reinstatement effects Christian theology and practical applications to our Christian walk today.
Ken Johnson was born in 1965 and became a Christian at the age of 12. He quickly realized there were differences in doctrine in various denominations and sought out to prove to himself the correct interpretation of these issues that divide Christians. After an intensive study of the first century church he sought to bring back the teaching of the disciples of the 12 apostles. He has authored numerous books and made ancient Jewish scrolls available to the English speaking world.
He currently travels to churches inside the USA, speaking on these and other topics. He currently attends Calvary Chapel of Johnson County, located in Olathe Kansas.
The book is solid. The author draws heavily from extra biblical texts. Some citations of the dead sea scrolls read very differently in other english translations. Also, the book relies heavily on the "Testaments of the Patriarchs", which very in proven authenticity. Many of the quotations have no reference.
A Four Star Reference Work on the Obscure Doctrine of the Zadok Priesthood
Some will be tempted to view this book as a mystical doctrine for some obscure cultic group or weird religious order. In fact, the term "Melchizedek Priesthood" is used by the LDS Church, and some secret societies. But to set the record straight, this is not that kind of book at all.
Author Ken Johnson is an evangelical Christian, has a TH.D., and writes on obscure but fascinating theological strains within the teachings of the Bible and the various patriarchal books. These are the little known Bible related books associated with the Apocrypha and/or the Dead Sea Scrolls and, while not considered inspired for use as Holy Scripture by most churches, do provide legitimate historical context and theological insight into how the ancient Jewish scribes and early Christian Church Father's interpreted religious ideas. Thus, this is an important reference book for people who want to understand what the term Melchizedek really meant in terms of the historical person in the Book of Genesis, the interpretation of Jesus Christ as a type of that person, and the Biblical-historical meaning from the days of Adam (Earth's first "Priest-King") all the way through to Christ fulfilling this role in the Heavenlies and on earth following His Second Coming.
This short but well-organized reference book isn't for everyone. But having studied this kind of material as well as the Bible for over thirty five years, I found it very enlightening and it did give me some very good insights into Paul's teaching in what is arguably his most difficult epistle, The Epistle to the Hebrews. That Paul wrote this epistle especially to silence his critics among the religious Jews who followed Christ and the Temple Priests among them who Paul felt were jeopardizing their faith by insisting on clinging to the traditions of the elders is quite clear after reading this book.
Highly recommended for serious students of the Bible and of Jewish history.
I was not aware that all of these other books existed -- I knew of the apocrypha but not all the dead sea scrolls manuscripts that prophesied and corroborated and expanded upon much of what the New Testament says. It also explains a lot more (beyond just the bit in Genesis and the few chapters in Hebrews) about why Melchizedek was (in Hebrews) considered so significant--and you really have to go to extrabiblical sources to explain that. Very interesting!
The data revealed in Ken Johnson's books proves the love of God towards us. By revealing and translating these ancient scrolls through Ken's and others work the FATHER is preparing his people for the appearance of his SON. Praise our ELOHM.
The books by this author are very exciting because they help us believers to understand our roots as Christians. This also helps us understand the Scriptures and adds more context to them. As believers, for me, it is very important to understand the Scriptures which allows us to better obey them. These books are always exciting to me!!
Fascinating... highly plausible theory based on many texts across scripture and apocrypha. This will be my go-to resource for anything Melchizidek related. The mere fact that the order isnt mentioned much in Scripture, but Paul devotes a whole chapter of Hebrews to it, means there is obviously more than meets the eye in the bible.
I chose this rating because I found it interesting in linking this priesthood to biblical prophecy and to Jesus Christ. I find his research very sound I easily understood what he was saying.
A very interesting book, well written and researched. I learned a lot of supporting information that helps to fill in some blanks in my understanding of the Bible, biblical timeline, and the prophesies surrounding it.
So far, the most definitive resource on the Order of Melchizedek that I have found. It contains convincing surprises and authoritative conclusions. If you want to know about the Order of Melchizedek, this book is for you.
I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately it reads like a Christian who wants the Jewish scriptures to fit their theology. It doesn’t delve into Hebrew meanings or have any understanding of Jewish literature.
This book has given me understanding of what used to be a mystery to me in the Scriptures. It has all shown me that l have much reading and studying to do. I shall be purchasing more of the author's books.
This book reveals how the ancients looked forward to Messiah coming and had such great understanding. I have his book of Jashur and plan to read more of his books. You won't be disappointed with this read
The theology from his writings along with documentation is very eccentric to the understanding of the underlying events in scriptures. Together they give one a better understanding with wisdom and strength.
I found this very interesting. The author references many scrolls that are rarely discussed (several that I was unaware existed) and brings up points that I haven't heard anywhere else.
