An out-for-you story in uniform. The freedom of a road trip on a new motorbike - especially after getting out of a bad relationship - is the best thing Bryson had felt in a long time. Until a freak accident caused a wipe-out! Good thing Wesley Hirsch, a handsome state trooper who is "not straight and not out", witnessed it and rushed to help.
Bryson can't ride on until he - and his bike - are in decent condition again. Wesley puts him up overnight. Their chemistry blossoms and, as they learn about each other, they are inspired by each other's strengths. If the trend sticks, Wesley will come out to his intimidating cop father. If his confidence grows, Bryson will press charges against his ex.
Best of all, if they find strength and courage in each other, they might also find love!
Uniform Speed is a stand-alone gay romance with a HEA, explicit scenes, and no cliff hangers.
Devyn Morgan is a contemporary man with a love of contemporary romance! He grew up in several different states due to his parents' careers, which instilled in him a love of travel and seeing new places. After finishing college, he traveled around the globe for two years in search of romance, experiences, and adventures. In that time, he came up with more story ideas than he could ever use, so he started to write gay fiction.
He currently lives in the eastern US with his partner and a dog, but he still considers himself a free spirit.
(¯`v´¯) .`•.¸.•´ ★★★★What do you get when you bring together a leather wearing bike riding gorgeous man and a sexy, hot arsed cop? You have Bryson and Wesley and all kinda of heat.
Toxicity be gone.
Officially done with his abusive relationship, Bryson pack up everything and ran. He needed to put as much distance between himself and his ex. Going to DC for the Fourth holiday was the best idea, as the photographer would get great pictures to boost his portfolio and his pocket and it was one place the other man loathed.
Proceeding at uniform speed.
Police trooper Wes was minding his business when the biker lost control and ended up crashing his bike. Being his parents' child, he offered the stranger into his home and into his life. There is an instant connection between the men. Unfortunately, Bryson is very out and Wes is not. All it takes is a few homophobic remarks for Wes to get on the defensive and set everyone straight. But will everyone be happy he's out of the closet or will they be there with arms wide open.
Happy, happy...
I enjoyed Uniform Speed. The outdoor scenes were so descriptive and felt so real, I could inhale and smell the earth. Devyn Morgan did a good job of bringing together two likable characters and delicately played upon the abusive theme.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This story makes me believe in the healing power of love. One main character coming out of a terribly abusive relationship, having a motocycle accident that causes him to meet the other main character who was struggling with his own issues of fear...fear of people knowing he is not all that straight...fear that he will face his old-school police father's judgment and disgust...fear that his fellow state troopers will not accept him...if he is honest about who he finds attractive. Together they find a reason to look to the future and hope for brighter days and that ever elusive love that everyone wants and hope to experience in their lives.
First, far too many typos. The characters names were mixed up, making the text almost meaningless. There’s no need for this type of nonsense. Second, just didn’t work for me. So a policeman, of all people, takes a total stranger into his home and let’s him live there. Nope, not working for me, far too simplistic. They boink like bunnies, everything’s tickety boo (except for one mildly nasty co-worker) and they live happily ever after. Not much to it. It’s just not for me.
4.5 stars - Wes and Bryson are a great couple who met by accident. They settle rather quickly into a comfortable relationship, but still have to resolve some serious issues on the way to their HEA.
I think Uniform Speed is one of my favorite Devyn Morgan books! Bryson and Wes are such great characters and I totally fell in love with them, and their story!
Bryson recently got out of an abusive relationship and is now enjoying his freedom on the back of his motorcycle. While enjoying the open road and a quick glance at a motorist on the side of the road, one bug in the face changes everything. The crash isn’t serious but Bryson can’t ride right away, plus he has to wait for his bike to get fixed.
Wes is a police officer on patrol, standing on the side of the road when Bryson’s accident happens. He’s firmly in the closet but there is something special about this guy and when he’s released from the hospital Wesley offers him a place to stay.
These two are absolutely adorable together! They form a sweet friendship quickly and it’s clear there is something more coming for these two. Both men have decisions to make about their new relationship. Bryson is still dealing with the pain of his past, physically and emotionally. Wes is coming to terms with coming out to his father and co-workers.
There is a wonderful sweetness to this story, it just made my heart feel good! I adored Wes for how wonderful he was with Bryson, even if he was frustrated or worried, he was always aware of the abuse Bryson suffered and paid attention to how he spoke to him. Devyn did a great job creating a loving environment for both of these men!
I really enjoyed this book, again a new favorite Devyn book! This was sweet and caring and hot too – these men have great chemistry together. Another fun read and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Devyn!

“Act in a way you won’t be embarrassed about twenty years from now…” On a road trip to clear his mind of the lingering remnants of a relationship gone sour, Bryson’s first encounter with state trooper Wesley comes while he’s lying at the side of the road. With both men aware of an immediate attraction between them, and neither ready to act on it, I loved the easy flow of their friendship as they got to know each other better. As Bryson regains his strength, both literally and figuratively, they are such a great complement to each other that it only gets better once they take the leap. Already fully committed to hating Bryson’s ex, I was also ready to hate Wes’s dad, surely a man who rendered his son afraid to admit to his sexuality had to be a jerk, right? But I actually snickered out loud at how the entire scenario played out after so much tension built up that Wes was compelled to make some difficult choices. This is a fun and up-lifting read if you’re looking for something sweetly sexy, I always look forward to more from Devyn Morgan. Please note that I received a complimentary advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
A closeted state trooper (Wes). An injured photographer (Bryson) with an ex (John) who doesn't deserve to be loved. Wes and Bryson meet on the side of a highway. Instant attraction. So who will blink first? And how do we tell the family and the guys at work? A romance with some much needed problem solving thrown in to make it nail-biting.
I fell in love with this book the first time I read it and even more during the second. The richness of the writing came through as did the depth of the characters. Wes has the ability to look inside himself and decide what he really values. Bryson discovers underlying strength and the need to look beyond the past to a new future with unlimited possibilities.
If nothing else, you're going to want to travel to this part of the country that you're seeing through the eyes of a talented photographer. And along the way, you may too, discover, that people can surprise you, as well as some tips on ways to romance a lover.
This is one of the books in the Burning Rubbers bundle which I received from the authors. Thank you so much! Definitely the best gift ever!
This is a really encouraging and enjoyable story about Bryson and Wes, who meet when Bryson falls off his motorbike near Wes's unmarked Police car. Both men have secrets to hide - Wes not being out as a gay man, and Bryson shies away from all the pain and memories of his last destructive relationship. Although there could have been a lot of angst, there wasn't and I must say that it was a plus for me. This will quite a slow-burn tale of two men getting their confidence together to enable them to grasp their HEA. I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The writing flowed as well as the story. The Mcs were both strong individuals who brought out the best in each other. I liked the state trooper angle a d the way Wesley came out was really good. It was low key and just right for this book. I loved how his dad took it without any problems or hooray. This was a pleasurable read. I liked how John got his just desserts too. And that Bryce grew in confidence enough to press charges. A very good quick sweet read.
In major need of an editor. Numerous times the wrong character names were used. I would read a paragraph three or four times thinking, huh? Then realize no she didn't mean Wes, she meant Bryson. And quite a few times words were just left out. It was pretty easy to figure out what was meant but why should I have to figure it out? Shouldn't the editing process catch things like this? As far as the rest, it was just okay. Nothing spectacular that I would want to read again in a few months.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I honestly loved this book. I have never read any thing by this author before but I am going to start now. The characters were lovable and the storyline well thought out. I thought this book was well written and I would recommend this book to my friends.
Great summer time read with lobe and lots of humor.
Oh my is this a great book not only is the trooper wes real he faces many challenges that could be a real problem only to discover the worry was for nothing and then add Bryson into the mix look out pool. I absolutely loved the humor and how Bryson parks his bike do I hear pool party anyone?
I really liked the story, the characters, the setting, and the circumstances. It deserves five stars. However there needs to be more editing. Devyn did use the wrong protagonist's name too many times. For word geeks a noun was used as a verb. I'll have to check it out with the OED! Appreciated the story.
Very enjoyable read. I sort of wish the author would take it to the next step. We a has come out, knew he will face his fellow Troopers and some are bigoted. And a meeting between Bryan and John might be interesting.
They are two very hot characters here--biking photographer Bryson and closeted country cop Wesley--who hit every note of authenticity and whose cute meeting and developing relationship seem reasonable if not somewhat outlandish. And they are perfectly represented on the cover.
I loved them and their escapades and insecurities and romance and lust and the book, but...
I know this may be a spoiler, but it's really not. There has to be some responsibility here, either by the author or the editor, to the two paragraphs in separate parts of the book which focus on Bryson's point of view where, of a sudden, he is referred to as Wesley.
In some other books where this mistake occurs, I stop reading. Not this one, which is a testament to the book as a nicely done appetizer or extended dessert.
