All she wanted was her mother's love and acceptance. What she got was her worst nightmare.
The murder of Mara's father and grandmother thrusts her into her mother's life of secrets, lies, and crushing emotional abuse. Alone and starving for love, she has no one to turn to, except her pet sugar gliders.
Then, she meets Travis Raines. He's everything her father warned her about, and everything she needs to protect her shattered soul. With him, she discovers her strength - and the vengeful, deadly secrets of the past.
Christine Copper was born and raised in the Spring Green, Wisconsin, area. An avid reader from an early age, it soon became a dream to write a book of her own. After being laid off and unable to find employment, she realized there was no better time for her to see her dream become a reality. In September 2013, she made her author debut with the novel Desperate. When she isn’t busy writing, she can most likely be found hanging out with her family, enjoying coffee, or curled up on her chaise with her dog, sugar gliders, and a good book. Her other dream in life is to hire a personal chef so she doesn’t have to eat her own cooking anymore – or force anyone else to.
Couldn't put this book down!! The story grabs you from the first page. I have loved all this authors books and she still keeps writing intriguing thrillers. Many twists in the book. I recommend reading if you like a fast paced thriller.
I was given Hidden Within for an honest review. This was my first experience with Christine Copper and her writing. I liked this book, even though it is not the genre I generally read. I enjoyed the twists in the story, especially at the end. The writing was well paced and the story line was clear and thought out well. My only issue with a psychological thriller, such as this, was I needed more background to really get into the minds of the characters. I would have liked a single point of view or more clear direction in the point of view of the story. It flipped around without much warning during the beginning of the book. That being said, I was on the emotional edge of my seat most of the time and was really heartbroken for Mara during the whole tale. Such tragedy for one so young always breaks me. I felt like I was reading a cross between a modern day Cinderella and an episode of Criminal Minds. I will definitely read more from Christine Copper in the future.
I'm not really sure why Christine is an Indi Author. Her writing style is up there with Stephen King and Dean Koontz! "Hidden Within" was so well thought out and easy to follow (even though there were so many twists in this book it about gave me whiplash), you would think a publisher would snatch her up!
I absolutely loved the story line, and the way Christine easily draws in her readers. You can actually feel every emotion felt by the characters! I definitely recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
This story grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. The author does a great job of painting a character that you come to hate so much, and a character that your heart just breaks for. This story has some nice twists and turns and an unexpected ending. A great read that I will recommend to my friends and family.
