Shattered Dreams by DL Kane is the best debut novel I have read in a long time. The characters were portrayed really well, each having their own awesome descriptions, and it helped make you get to know them all individually fairly fast. The book is well written and it made me feel so many different emotions all at the same time, along with a great story line and plot to make this a roller coaster of a read, holding my interest from the first page to the last. This book reads like it has been written by somebody who has several novels to their name, rather than just this book! I will definitely keep this novel in my "keepers" list to read again!
The day of a wedding has arrived, and the groom, as well as the best man and the maid of honor all have secrets they are hiding, shameful secrets that can devastate the bride, a beautiful woman whom every one loves because she is a rare commodity these days, a wonderful, caring, beautiful and nurturing woman, well loved by all and the single most important thing in her father's life, who has loved her since day 1, after his beloved wife dies in childbirth- Amy may have grown up without her mother but through her fathers's words and pictures knows that her mother loved her so much.
At the altar something terrible happens and you have to read it to find out what it is but I will say this; what follows is a story line of the utmost betrayal,by 3 people who say they love the bride, but do they? Read on about how selfish and jealous and vindictive one person can be towards a person that has done nothing to her but be there for her,loved her when her own family did not care to be anything to her. Add to that the fact what she says to cause what happens is a total untruth, and that cuts even deeper into all four of them.
Her finance betrays her in the worst of ways, and Amy, always honest in her dealings with anyone, can't believe he would do this to her, and she is ruined. Amy has given her all to this relationship putting him first over everyone, even her father and best friend, Mason, who has been there with her since the first day of 9th grade, and has looked after her and loved her without her even knowing the depths of his love for her.
However,the worst betrayal comes from her best friend, who knew what had happened but stood there silently while the wedding was taking place, and did not tell her she was making a big mistake. The boy she adored that grew up with her as they became young adults together and had an unbreakable friendship. This more than anything else throws Amy as well as himself into the deepest pits of despair. Why did he remain silent?
What will happen, will there be forgiveness, will there be closure on any of it? Watch as each of them winds up living in the bed of their despair - a pit of their own makings. But also watch as something else happens to bring hope to all of them in a different way, and watch how Amy's father, a man who let his daughter have a lot of freedom growing up, pulls in the reins and manipulates her life along with the power of friendship between two people make it possible for them to forgive each other so they can move on in life, and along with Amy's father's help bring Amy the happiness she deserves.
This book will give me a book hangover, but I am so glad I read it and I give this author a 5***** star rating for this beautiful story. Thank you D.L. Kane for this gift to all of us!

Heart gripping, unforgettable beginning to a new series! I must say author DL Kane is an amazing story teller! She has created well developed characters with an amazing storyline. I seriously could not put this book down and finished in one day.
Shattered Dreams picks up where Shattered Innocence left off. We now get to see where life has taken Amy and Mason and oh boy there are surprises that I did NOT see coming! I totally fell in love with Amy ad Mason and prayed they would end up together. But life is complicated for all of us and it is for Amy and Mason as well. I will root for them to the end!
One of my favorite quotes in this wonderful book is from her mother who passed long ago, but holds so much hope that it gave me goose bumps!

I just have to start by say that DL you did an amazing job on this book and I cannot wait to read the next one you put out!! Ok so now for my review. This book was great from start to finish Amy thinks she is marring the man she is supposed to spend the rest of her life with and then crap hits the fan!! And she is forced to start all over again, but trying to find her way to do that is the hard part. I was hooked I needed to know how Amy was going to deal with things, I loved her character, she was easy to relate to when she reacted to things I could not help but think 'I would totally do something like that'. I was emotionally involved I am a big cry baby and I was so proud of myself for not balling the whole book(Not that the whole book is sad there are a lot of really funny parts in there too) but there were a few parts that I just could not help it the situations and feelings were so real and DL does such an amazing job at making sure you feel all of it. I love the connection between Mason and Amy, and well lets face it I just loved Mason...:) Shattered Dreams was such a great book you get all of the emotions all wrapped up in one great book it is Funny, there is Love, Hate , Betrayal, Anger, Shock.. Do not hesitate to read this book you will love it!!!

Oh My Stars all 5 of them! D.L. Kane in her debut book Shattered Dreams has woven a story of betrayal, jealousy, heartbreak & love. She takes you on a journey into the main characters souls. Amy Adams thought she was marrying the man of her dreams. Until her world comes crashing down. This story had me talking to my kindle from the beginning. The feelings of betrayal that rip friendships apart. The real grit of relationships where what sometimes is left unsaid can change lives forever. I could not get enough & now I can't wait for the next book in the Shattered Souls Series. Kudos D.L. Kane!!! You have hooked me in!!

5++ amazing stars
A betrayal of the worst kind, love; true love the kind that makes your heart swell and makes you the reader smile while you read it.
What can I say? WOW! This book touched my heart I loved the novella "Shattered Innocence" that was released before this book and that we were given a glimpse of this relationship between Amy and Mason, reading more about the life of Amy the emotional roller coaster that she endured. Getting to know Mason and Amy first was perfect.
***WARNING YOU WILL BE HOLDING YOUR BREATH THROUGHOUT THIS STORY!!
So we start out with Amy on her wedding day, picture this it’s your wedding day your standing at the altar with your best friends and the man you are going to marry. This is the man you have decided to spend the rest of your life with the man you love with “all” your heart. Then the worst thing in the world happens. Yes this is what we start off with. it is a roller coaster of emotions for Amy. Not only Amy though it is a roller coaster for everyone who loves her too.
“Physically, she wanted to rip Tori’s hair out and shove David’s balls so far up his own throat he’d choke on the damn things.”
Mason is her best friend in the entire world, he is actually a lot more but you have to read this as I don’t want to give you too much. So Mason knows what happened and he knows this will kill Amy so he chooses to keep his mouth shut. “You’d rather lose her than hurt her. You’re in love with her, and instead of telling her the truth and risking her friendship, you let her go.” And yes this is what he does. But hold on to your seat because their story is far from over.
Amy has managed to avoid David the man who she was to marry, but she winds up seeing him and they wind up talking. (MUST READ!! Not giving you major details here!!) She is still avoiding Mason. Her dad who by the way, can I say we all love Asa so much! What an amazing father! He is her biggest supporter and as the saying goes “daddy knows best” he sure does! I am stopping here cause this is getting long and I need you to know that this is a MUST read!! Trust me!! Please give this book a chance you WILL NOT regret it! I promise you! Here are some snip its I took out from this amazing story.

Amy and Mason: “if you want to beg baby” he applied a little more pressure, “you should be on your knees.” HOLY HELL!! She dropped to her knees. OMG …… trust me there is more, so much more!! Gets hotter and hotter!

Heartbreak, shattered trust 4.5
The story sucked me in from the start. The first bit was absolutely sweet and I kept rooting for Amy to end up with the boy she first fell in love with. The connection and the comfort they felt for each other is not usual so I kept rooting. And then came the 2nd part where it was her wedding day. She looked sooo happy and gorgeous and the part with her father totally made me cry. It was beautiful to say the least.
So what does a girl do when on her wedding day three people who are the closest to her betrays her trust. How does she survive the betrayal of one person who has always been there and she's always trusted the person. She's shattered, she's lost and she has no idea how to overcome the pain and heartbreak.
This was a story about a girl who grew up to be smart and sassy and kind. Her life was perfect until her wedding day when everything just vanished.

This book came highly recommended and was gifted to me. OH MY they were not wrong about this book! It was AMAZING! There are so many life shattering and life affirming moments for all these characters. Missed opportunities, paths not taken, fear of losing what they already have, altered these characters lives, sometimes good sometimes not. Life is a roller coaster and so is this book. IT will keep you hoping and wishing, upset with the characters wondering what the heck they were thinking.
I am not sure my review can do this book justice. Once I started this book I didn't want to put it down. I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to see how it would all work out. I had my doubts at times but I was not disappointed.

Shattered Dreams by D.L Kane is the story of Mason and Amy. It starts with my favorite part of the book, the prologue. Reason being it shows the back story to the two of them wonderfully. The relationship between Amy and Mason when they were younger plays a huge role in the book. I love how there are not that many real twists and turns after the big one which destroys Amy. The story flows nice and doesn't use too many flashbacks like some books do since the prologue does it for the author. The book ends on a note that does grab you and makes you want to read more of the story.

This was such an amazing read! This was my first time reading Kane and wasn't sure what to expect. Amy faces a personal crisis that not only affects her, but also everyone who loves her. Kane flashes back in history through out the story. Amy remembers her life and every event that had an impact on her life. I was also able to get different points of view. Not only Amy's memories are looked back on, but the men in her life as well. I got to read and experience the good times that lead up to the present. The decisions that they second guess that affect their present. The more the story went on the more invested I became. Kane's writing is so wonderful that I was angry when Amy was angry heartbroken when she was hurt. Her writing just pulls you into the story and I for one didn't want to leave. My emotions went on a ride during this book. A ride I am so very glad I took. I can't wait to read more from Kane. Everyone needs to read this book!!

I think DL Kane really put together a fantastic debut novel. The story was well written, the characters were believable and evoked emotion, and I found myself not wanting to put the book down. The hard part for me was reading and keeping up with the multiple points of view, as we were given the story from the view of multiple characters (which worked well and didn't repeat scenes). I spoke with DL, and she noted she was going to update the book and add character names with the chapter headings. That small change alleviated all of the problem for me. There is no problem with the story - even though it moves through many years, it is consistent, easy to follow, and does not leave gaps in the plot.
I think this is a solid read and one I'd recommend for a lounging day at the beach or under a blanket on your couch in front of the fire!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I don't like to post anything that give spoilers when I review a book and do my best to keep it as generic as possible.
I'll be honest, I read the description of this book and jumped right on it. I will also be honest in saying that parts of this book made me want to scream and others made me want to cry and others just made me feel emotionally drained. All of those things are the sign of a book that I love. I want a book to knock me off my feet and this one did. I could not put this book down and I cannot wait to read more. I can promise that I am a fan and you will be too.

Yes 5 stars for her debut book that I couldn't put down! It's the story of Amy and Mason from when they meet and become friends in present time and of her relationships with others. It's about love, betrayal, friendship, sorrow, forgiveness and in the end finding happiness. What do you do when you find out the people you thought your world betray you, how do you move one, how do you forgive? Amy goes though this and wow what an ending, what a journey to that ending!!! Once I started this book I couldn't, no didn't want to put it down until I was done. I smiled and cried with them and cannot wait for book 2!! You won't be sorry reading this book.

D.L. has certainly got my attention...hard to believe this is her debut novel! Easily relateable characters with their own individual characteristics that shine through throughout the entire book!

I absolutely loved this book. The first story Shattered Innocence, a lengthy prologue telling a story on how Manson and Amy first come to meet, and the friendship, love, and bond that develops between them. And then where it all goes wrong.
Shattered dreams, begin several years later with Amy fixing to walk down the isle to the man she is in love with, only to have her dreams shattered by the betrayal, and deceit of three people who she loves most.
This is a wonderfully written story. I can not wait for the next book.

In the beginning of the prologue.. you fall for Mason.. they seem like the perfect match.. but then of course it all falls apart.. and Jesse happens.. ugh! what a powerful, gut wrenching, sad, happy, and most amazing story...wow...this is 5+ stars easy...how much heartache can Amy take? what does one do when 3 people you trust and love most in your life betray you? can she forgive them...most important, can she ever learn to trust her heart again?...I don't want to spoil anything, but trust me when I say this is a MUST READ...you will not be disappointed...D L has really knocked this one out of the park...don't miss this book...happy reading...

I snagged the intro-book for free in the Kindle store and I'm glad I did! This was by far one of the best books I've read in awhile. I finished it in a couple of days and I can't wait to read the next one when it comes available. This book explores Amy and her relationships several years later. The stories are perfectly written and such an easy read because of it. I lost sleep because I couldn't put it down! It's well worth the read and I can't imagine anyone not loving Amy (or this book!)

I loved this book hard from start to finish. Mason and Amy have been best friends for years and both are in love with the other. Due to misunderstandings they remained just friends. Not for me
I found the m/f character extremely immature.
She could forgive the cheater fiance, but not the best friend/ love of her life. Just no.
The only interesting character in the story was Victoria. I hope Victoria and David get books, and that the author would write them with the maturity of grownups and not teenagers.
I found the m/f character extremely immature.
She could forgive the cheater fiance, but not the best friend/ love of her life. Just no.
