Word Explorers: Mapping the Language Landscape: A Vocabulary Expander for 8th Graders

This ten-session course broadens vocabulary for 8th graders in multiple ways, including definitions of words, usage in context, stories, quiz questions and pairing of words with similar ones. This is an ideal way to foster vocabulary development. Vocabulary included in this 8th grade course includes terms such as juxtapose, velocity, technical, surmise, validate, abhor and many others. 8th grade is a target level for this course, but depending on a child's vocabulary development it may be useful for other or younger children. This course is part of a progressive series that enables progressive vocabulary learning from course to course. Sessions start by introducing new vocabulary and later in the course words are examined in different ways and understanding of the vocabulary is tested.
