Do you know what this book is about????

SEX MAGIC

I’m not even joking, ya’ll.

“Sex Energy” or “Sex Magic” is said 114 times in this book!!!!!! And I LAUGHED. Every. Time.

The writing?

The story?

The characters?

Everything felt FORCED….Know what I mean?

Nothing was believable. I know, it’s a fantasy story….but I still need to believe the fantasy. I wasn’t sucked into the fantasy world at all. To me, the fantasy world didn’t exist except for the few fantasy words she through in there every once in a while.

Even the dialogue was bad. I am a glutton for dialogue, and it was just BAD.

Stop TELLING me so much. Let me experience it. Make me FEEL something.

4 damn that ending stars
“My kitten tries to roar but all I hear is a tiny little meow,”

Zoey is half-human, half-succubus, wishing that she was just plain normal. Her job is to save girls from supernatural sadists who only want to rape and kill. Regardless of how she wishes to live two different lives between day and night, she is one of the most successful Hunters in the Sucubatti, fueled by sex magic she needs release and the only cures are fighting and sex.

In this world, there’s only one incubus for every sucubatti, color her pissed when she finds out he is the calm, disciplined leader of the Incubatti Enforcers, Declan is the polar opposite of Zoey – and the sworn enemy of her society. She's in denial and he's set to be tested, patience is all he needs.
“What exactly is my type?”

“Someone who can calm that fire of yours. Someone who you’d actually trust,” he replied. “You need someone who can balance you out and wring that sex energy out of you, or you’ll burn out soon.”

Declan has known all about his little fierce warrior, for three years he's kept her safe from afar, never revealing himself. But now Zoey needs him, it's up to him to prove just how much. He must bind her to him, all he needs is three nights, but Zoey proves to be more than difficult.
“You have rules about hurting me. I have none about hurting you,” she whispered.

“You sure you want to throw down with me right here?”

“I’ll consider it foreplay.”

The way that Declan makes Zoey feel, scares the ever loving shit out of her, wanting to run but is caught in a political battle one she isn't so sure which side is telling her the truth, making her sick and tired of the mind games each sides plays. More powerful than she has ever felt, thanks to Declan to much of her dismay, she begins to formulate a plan, one that will rock her world and everything in it.
“Nothing comes between us. Not you, not me, not the world.”

But what if the one thing that comes between them is too big to ignore... can they really move on or are they back to where they started, Zoey alone and Declan protecting from afar !?!

Zoey Rogue was a story that sucked me in, I wasn't sure what to expect, I saw some preliminary reviews about "Sex Magic" and I admit I was instantly curious as to what it was all about. The world they live in, is full of supernatural elements, so it takes a bit of time to get to the know the who's the what's and the where's. But once I did, I was stuck trying to figure out the power plays, who to trust all the while rooting on the two MC's. Declan and Zoey are complete opposites, but compliment each other in every way that matters. It's in their times alone when the walls are down do we get to see what they really are made of at least until the time for when the sun rises again.

It was a great beginning to series that continues on, this isn't a stand alone read and I have to say this was one cliff hanger that I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. I'm torn at the twist in the end, and find myself rationalizing from all sides. I can't say too much without giving anything away, but there are a few things that didn't add up for me, or at least the reasons have not yet made their intentions known. All I can do is continue on and hope that my questions are answered.

Do you want to know the most fascinating thing about this book? It has a publisher! Someone out there actually thought, this shit makes sense and yeah let's go with it.

This book made no godamn sense at all. The very first chapter, a girl is SNEAKING away in total darkness trying to avoid getting raped. SNEAKING, not RUNNING full throttle down a hill....manages to hit her shin with enough force to break it so bad it turns...black in a space of a few minutes??????? oooooooooookaaaaaaaayyyyy

Zoey is a half succubus or whatever and she fights incubus and their offspring cambion. Easy enough, right????

Well....

The incubus and the succubi are ENEMIES! So much so, that in the very first chapter heads were rolling, there was blood and gore and...you get my drift.

But dear reader if you would care to stroll just a few pages down you will find the leader of the succubi, walking around making deals with cambion. The incubus leader walking in the succubi command center like he does it every day and then waxing poetic how he has regular sex with one of his most hated enemies...and not just him, they all fuck together. Because that is what mortal enemies do, you know, when they are not killing each other.

The succubi are cleverly hidden in an elite school for girls, and they are all like....21 years old and hawt. Or not, you see they are supernatural so they could be ancient, but never mind, nobody will ever notice that people don't graduate from there. It's like, so totally elite.

Oh, did i forget to mention that there is energy and magic as well??? See we are dealing with a paranormal romance, involving two mythical races that sustain themselves trough sexual contact. Painfully obvious just from the incubus - succubus thing, but just in case we don't get it, or our minds get too stressed, desperately trying to make sense of the author's writing, she helps us back on the right track! By mentioning it in every sentence, sometimes more then once. Not just any magic-SEX magic! Gee...thanx!

There might have been a story in there somewhere, but it was buried under a mountain of inconsistent bullshit, so deep that even the Dwarves of Middle Earth couldn't reach it.

Another fascinating thing here is the raving reviews about this book. Everywhere you look it's this...

I know that people got their own likes and opinions and i am not dissing anyone that liked it, but it makes me wonder.....what if????

Rhyn (yes from Rhyn's Trilogy) has some competition from Declan for my heart. I loved Declan right off, like Rhyn the man is a smartass. He has captured my heart, what can I say it's the smart-mouth on him:
"You want to hear my favorite?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Nice shoes, wanna f***?"
"I like it," Declan smiled "and yes I do."
"Yeah, well, I don't f*** your kind," she replied.
"You will before the night is over."
Cocky isn't he ladies? I like my men that way. Declan is also protective, another fine quality I like in a man, "That particular Hunter is my soul-mate " he replied. "Your cambions will not touch her." I mean he's VERY protective, "Declan wasn't able to prevent his moon from growing darker, the longer they interrogated her. Was this what it felt like, when women ran across him? Primal, crippling need?" Like any other man, the boy gets horny at the wrong times, "He shifted uncomfortably unable to keep from getting hard at the thought of stripping her right here and f***ing her, until she was out of his system." Declan isn't the only smartass in this book, Zoey happens to be one as well, "You couldn't say, he Zoey by the way, your soul-mate is gonna crucify you this morning. Did I mention he's the head of the Incubatti Enforcers, the hurricanes of the incubus world, and you don't stand a f***ing chance in hell?" She also may have an anger issue, I mean just a tiny one, "You mean aside from you betraying me and making me betray my friends?" She demanded, pushing herself up. "Marking and dumping me on the Professor's porch three years ago without telling me about this bonding thing? Then reading my mind yesterday at the inquisition?" Ladies I must say I was pleased to hear that Declan is an ass man, "That ass," he growled squeezing it with one hand." He also says the sweetest things, "Good. When this shit is over, we'll go on vacation. You, me and a few bottles of massage oil. I'll show you a few things. You won't walk for days." Yes ladies I have found my second husband, since I really can't choose between Rhyn and Declan I'll just marry both!

Holy hotness! Lizzy Ford has done it again with this sexy paranormal romance.

Lizzy’s writing is seriously addictive. Zoey Rogue is the fourth book of hers that I have read within a week, and it gripped me tight right from the beginning. I read this book in one sitting, not able to put it down.

The characters were strong. I totally girl crushed on Zoey. She was outspoken and wild and had a serious authority issue. She was the perfect kick-ass heroine—literally. She spent her days and night hunting and killing the enemy.

But Zoey wasn’t the only awesome treat in this book. Declan is droolishous. He was cocky, at times sweet, and of course, he was possessive. And well, I fell for him right away. He was exactly what Zoey needed, and in all honesty, he was what I needed to make this book perfect.

The interaction between my two favorite characters was the best. They meshed together perfectly. Declan was strong and sensible, while Zoey was wild and reckless. They had awesome chemistry and balanced out each other’s flaws and strengths. And there was no “fade to black” during the steamy scenes. We get to see these two interact in every aspect of their relationship.

The storyline is completely original. Lizzy does a wonderful job of creating realistic settings and challenges for her characters in this paranormal romance. Her use of description and tension had me so far lost that at times I think I even forgot to breathe.

I didn’t think it was possible for Lizzy to write something that I’d love more than the Rhyn Trilogy, but Zoey Rogue sailed right passed all my expectation. I’m now painfully waiting July for the novella, and September for the next book in this series.

If you like paranormal romance with strong characters and lots of sexiness, then grab this one now, and settle in for a crazy ride.

Zoey Rogue is the first book in the Incubatti series by Lizzy Ford. It’s also more for adults, as it contains sexual situations and violence.
It has been compared to both 50 Shades and Buffy. However, I am here to say that while it is similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it is in no way, shape, or form as bad as that garbage known as 50 Shades. It’s honestly much better. I’ll mention why later on.

Anyway, Zoey Rogue is about a twenty-two year old Halfling named Zoey. She’s half-human and half-Succubus. She’s also a Hunter; part of a group of other Halfling girls nicknamed Team R(the R stands for reject). Zoey’s missions are simple: rescue human girls from creatures known as Cambions. Cambions are also Halflings; half-human and half-Incubus.

Cambions are basically rapists. They take advantage of girls by drawing them in and using them to collect sex magic. Zoey and her team go out and kill these Cambions, taking the sex magic into themselves and then pushing it back out to use against the Cambions.

There are also full-blooded Incubuses and full-blooded Succubi. Each group has their own government system, if you will. And they are also sworn enemies. However, there is a bit of a small twist. Each Halfling on Team R has been marked by a full-blooded Incubus, meaning they are soul-mates.

To become a soul-mate, there is a rite that has to be completed. The rite consists of three strikes, all of which involve sex.

I won’t go into anymore details about that, though. Don’t wanna bog my review down.

There were a couple of things I had issues with in the story. Firstly, at the beginning, it was a bit hard to get into. It drew me in, but at the same time, I couldn’t resist rolling my eyes at the repetitiveness of the details. Some things just did not need to be repeated over and over. But after like the first 10% of the book or so, it got better. The repetition stopped and I was able to enjoy the book.

Like I said before, this was compared to 50 Shades, but it’s nothing like that book. Whereas 50 Shades depicted an unhealthy, abusive BDSM relationship, Zoey Rogue doesn’t even involve any sort of BDSM. The closest thing that you could use to compare the two is the slight possessiveness with which Declan has for Zoey once they finish their rite and she becomes his soul-mate. He wants her and only her, and expects her to do the same for him. Zoey is resistant to him at first and wants to remain independent, but she does cave because he is the only one who can soothe her, calm her, and heal her with his magic. Without him, she becomes edgy and restless and usually ends up doing something stupid, which in turn gets her injured. Yes, that may seem a bit…cliche or whatever, but it’s nothing like 50 Shades. Zoey is capable of taking care of herself for the most part, and she is pretty bad-ass when on her missions.

This book was intriguing and kept my attention. There was the violence and the sex, but also the way it flowed. It made me want to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The ending sort of leaves you hanging and wanting more, but overall, it’s not a bad book. I am looking forward to reading the second one whenever it comes out.

Zoey Rogue will suck you in from the very first page and not let go until the very end. If you like books with supernatural creatures, romance/sex, violence, and a hint of political corruption(between the Succubi and Incubuses), then this book is one you should definitely give a chance.

Wow, I mean just wow! I really enjoy Lizzy Ford’s work. I mean seriously. This is the second series of hers that I’ve started and with just this first book I’m addicted! The thing is it’s so different from the other series of hers that I read. I wasn’t sure if I would like it, but Ford is such an amazing writer she pulls you in and holds you ‘til the last page.

Let’s start with the characters. Zoey is an amazingly strong female lead. She might not always know what she wants and her path isn’t always clear, but she doesn’t apologize for who she is or what she does and she doesn’t whine. Then there’s Declan and his brothers. Basically all of them are hotness incarnate, but what do you expect they’re Incubus.
I have to say my fave character out of all of them though is the Professor. Don’t get me wrong I love Zoey and Declan and I so want to see what’s going to happen to them. But really I’d love to find out more about Zoey's original babysitter. He’s so sweet and he seems to have such a back story that’s just waiting to be revealed. Then there are other side characters like Chrissy. She goes through hell at the beginning of the book but she pulls her act together to help Zoey keep other girls from going through what she did. I think the characters are the main reason I love Ford’s books. I mean I even get all into characters that only show up for a few scenes!
As for the story itself, it pulled me in from the beginning. It is a romance, in its own way. There are definitely some hot and sexy scenes between Declan and Zoey, but it’s not all about their romance. There’s a lot going on in Zoey’s world. The Incubus and Succubus are on the brink of war again and the human race is caught in the middle. Plus there are Zoey’s blackouts and someone is betraying her and her team. I think that the only reason I didn’t absolutely hate the ending was because it wasn’t JUST a romance. With everything else that was going on it got me hooked and I can’t wait to see where the next book takes Zoey.
I do have to say the ending was a cliffy, not exactly my fave. Plus it made me want to cry for Zoey!!! She so does not deserve what happens to her and I hope she gets to put a knife through the heart or hearts of the person or people responsible. As I said before if it wasn’t for the story being as compelling as it was I think I would have thrown my Kindle at the ending. But also this isn’t the first time Ford has left my heart bleeding for a character at the end of a book to totally make up for it in the next one.
Zoey Rogue is not for the under 18 crowd. There are some very explicit sex scenes. But if you’re over 18 and looking for a new series to start I definitely recommend this one. Ford does an amazing job rolling action, intrigue and romance together into Zoey Rogue and I highly recommend it.

I had high hopes for Zoey Rogue in the beginning, since it jumps right into the action! Some Cambion (evil sex demons) are chasing a girl, but our heroine, Zoey swoops in saves the day, since she's a Hunter. It was an unauthorized mission, so we immediately learn that Zoey has no problem breaking the rules in order to do what's right. I liked that. Unfortunately, from there it all went downhill. The more I learned about sex demon society, the more confused I became. The romance also didn't hold my interest, because it was based on information that I just didn't follow.

I'm all for forbidden romances and enemies-to-lovers, but the problem with Zoey Rogue is that Zoey and Declan aren't the exception to the rule. They are soul-mates (like, literally sharing a soul), but so are other Succubatti and Incubatti. The two species actually need each other just to continue the race. So why are they forbidden from sleeping together, when fate has created literal soul-mates, and when they would go extinct otherwise? It makes zero sense. Of course, there's the possibility that the higher-ups are lying to keep their hunters and enforcers in line, but anyone living in this world should have the same questions I do. If they don't, that's a gross oversight.

I also have to even wonder how these different races even create more of themselves. It is explained that a human or Halfling and an Incubus produces a Cambion. But Halflings are supposedly created in a lab, although it would make more sense for a Succubus and a human or Cambion would make one, right? And how do you get more Incubae and Succubae? I would imagine by them mating together, but it's also said that an Incubus only has Incubus offspring, so I am just majorly confused.

A good portion of Zoey Rogue's plot is based around the Sucubatti fighting the Cambions. The Cambions are horrible creatures that rape and murder young women to collect their sex energy. Of course, being young women, the Sucubatti fight against them. However, the Incubatti appear to be indifferent toward their hellish offspring. Some of them know what they're doing is wrong, and yet they keep creating more and getting pissed when a Sucubatti hunter takes them out. It seems like a lot of their problems would be solved if both groups tried to get the Cambions under control, instead of one taking an active stance, while the other just shrugs and looks the other way.

Another issue I had with this Incubatti/Sucubatti sworn enemies thing, is that the Halflings have Incubus guardians. These Incubae watch out for the girls and help keep their magic in check without having sex with them, since of course, it's forbidden, although for other reasons than with a regular Incubus. If they're such deep rooted enemies, why are they so close? Zoey's guardian, Alexander, is like a father to her! A war is mentioned several times, so why in the world are the two species living together and protecting one another instead of fighting?

In addition to the confusing basis of the world, Zoey Rogue also suffers from repetitive statements, unexplained terms, and other contradictions. Nearly every time another Succubus or Halfling is in the scene, we're reminded that they're nearly six feet tall and beyond gorgeous. Also that Zoey is not. I think we get the picture: Succubae are like seductive supermodels, and Zoey is like their normal, but still hot, friend. Zoey's height also changes. Sometimes she's nearly five and a half feet tall, other times she's barely five feet tall. That's a good six inch difference, so which is it? I'm also still confused on the difference between "sex energy" and "sex magic." Both terms are used about 100 times each, but I just don't get it. I'm guessing sex energy fuels sex magic, which in turn allows them to absorb more energy and use more magic? I don't know. Maybe the terms are interchangeable.

Speaking of sex magic/energy, how it works made no sense either, no matter which term is used. Apparently no Halflings make it past age twenty-two because they get overloaded on their magic and die. They have no outlet for the magic/energy, since they're not allowed to have sex with Incubae which is the only way to get it fully under control. Sure they have their guardians to help, and Zoey had her human boyfriend, but neither is a full solution. This just made the whole forbidden contact thing even more dumb, since it's killing them! Although, I suspect there's something the Succubae aren't telling them in regards to this.

With all of this messy world building, I just could not bring myself to care about anything that occurred in Zoey Rogue. My mind was too preoccupied trying to make sense of everything, and it simply couldn't. Also, the sex scenes weren't sexy at all. They felt like clinical like, "He put his penis in her anus." Not sexy.

WARNING: X-RATED BOOK. (Still 5 Stars!)
TITLE: Zoey Rogue (#1 of Incubatti Series)
SERIES: Incubatti Series
AUTHOR: Lizzy Ford
GENRE/AUDIENCE: Paranormal Romance &Sex magic/Audience anyone over 18
PUBLISHER: Evatopia Press
PUB DATE: May 10th 2013

MINI REVIEW: Zoey is someone that might just make a great best friend in my mind. Book has Good writing, nice backstory, great sex scenes, Zoey's world is relatable enough and foreign enough to keep it interesting! Sizzling hot sex, great battle scenes, strong characters. And a nice little trap of fate twist of fate that makes some couples of Succubati + Incubatti soul mates. Zoey meets hers... and he is enthralling. Soul-Mates is a term this society doesn't mean lightly. You literally know each other to the depth of the soul, and once bonded, forever entwined.

RATINGS: 5 stars for a world that sucked me in and made me like it :)

R-rated for sex. Sex, sexual situations, sexual themes, sexual language. Sex, Sex magic, sex scenes, anal sex scenes.... yeah, lots of well-written sex because when your characters all use sex magic, they sort of have to be at the top of their sexual A-game.

(Needless to say, don't leave this book out for junior to see.
Necessary Vocabulary:

A Succubus and an Incubus are both supernatural sex-energy wielding beings.

Succubus/Succubati: Supernatural sex-energy wielding Females, Succubati is their society.

Incubus/Incubatti: Supernatural sex-energy wielding Males, Incubatti is their society.

Halflings: Half human.

Cambions: Incubus offspring that use sex magic to prey on human females to gather more sex energy, and kill their prey.

Now that we have that covered: Succubati and Incubatti societies see each other as enemies, even though they are a single species. Incubatti halfling offspring (Half human) known as Cambions are sexual predators by nature. They use their magic to draw human women in, and then they use them for sex, storing the sex magic, and then kill the human. Succubati society has teams of Cambion hunters who try to save the human females. Zoey is one of the top rescuers and one of the top killers of Cambions. And just when she was starting to dfeel a little normalcy in her world with her human (and completely clueless) boyfriend, he goes and changes things by proposing to her. She says nothing, and he kicks her out. Ironically, it is shortly after this when she meets Declan, her soul-mate.

From the intro, this book really tells you that you are not reading your typical Lizzy Ford book. It sort of smacks you in the face with it; just to make sure you don’t get shocked later on (even though, to be honest, I did). I’m your usual contemporary paranormal romance reader, so I appreciate some smut with my romance – when this adult book was announced, I gladly signed up for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Adult, in this book, comes in the form of lots of hot succubus/incubus loving with very few boundaries. If you’re into that, you won’t be disappointed.

This book was a little slow to get into, but it really grabbed me about halfway through. The fact that the Declan/Zoey relationship really started to blossom at about 50% probably helped me get more invested in the story. There was so much action going on that I sometimes felt like I wanted more of the Zoey/Declan story than the overall storyline. I generally prefer more romance to action, but with their “occupations”, it seemed hard to avoid.

While Zoey and her gang of misfits did finally grow on me by the end of the book, I really preferred to see more of the brothers in the story. I loved the witty banter they had and all the “suffering” they talked about for their soul mates. Their characters were a lot easier for me to like than Zoey, who often seemed like she went back and forth between robot and whiney teenager.

This story certainly had a futuristic feel to it, even though it was presumably set in contemporary times. The energy drinks and technology as well as these “alien” races made me feel like it was less based on earth and more based on some other alternate universe. Either way, I appreciated the normality that the author injected in the form of Eric and the Professor. Without them, Zoey might have seemed even more robotic and alien to me.

To summarize, this adult book was an interesting departure from Lizzy Ford’s typical “fade to black” paranormal romance. I’m eager to see where she takes us, although I’m not sure how willing I am to forgive Declan his sins in this book. He better do some serious groveling in the installments to come!

I love most of Lizzy's book (I say most because I have not read them all yet.), and my favorite is the Rhyn series. However, I have to be honest in saying that this book is coming pretty damned close to moving into the #1 spot. Unlike most books I read, I loved both Zoey and Declan. Zoey isn't perfect, but who doesn't love an independent and wickedly bad-assed heroine who can take care of herself? Zoey is a halfling (part human and part succubus) who has never fit in anywhere. Her "job" is to kill guys (Cambions) who prey on women for sex energy. She doesn't trust easily, cannot follow direction, breaks the rules, and counts only those girls in her unit as friends. She tries to be normal by dating a human. Problem? He has no idea what she is or what she does every night/day. And what guy would be OK with knowing his girlfriend goes out killing guys by seducing them?

Then there is Declan. Declan is the head of the incubatti enforcers. He is one of the most powerful incubuses and Zoey's soul mate. Incubuses create Cambions. Zoey kills them, Declan doesn't. Not a great start for their relationship. Zoey does not know she is Declan's soul mate and Declan doesn't WANT one, but inevitably, they will connect. Sexy southern accent, hot muscled body, smart, and he knows exactly what she does when she goes out clubbing. As long as she follows 4 simple rules, he can live with it.

Lizzy's books are generally "rated PG", where as this one is R. If you are not comfortable reading sexual content in books, then you may not want to read this one. BUT, let's be clear that unless you are seriously prudish, you need to read this book. Aside from the sexual content, the cast of characters are great and the storyline is interesting. Declan is one of 9 brothers. Some have mates, some don't. You'll get caught up in all of their interactions. Then there is the war that is brewing, the mistrust between sucubatti and incubatti, blackouts and drugging, and heartache.

I cannot wait for book 2 to see where it all goes.

She was fearless so he didn't see her fitting into his life...but fate has other plans.

Zoey is a hunter, half-succubus, saving young women from death by sex.

Declan is an Incubus and in line to become a leader.

When their worlds collide, they discover they can't fight the burning attraction.

Zoey Rogue was a completely original look at a succubus and incubus power struggle.

This high velocity story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lizzy Ford creates a twisting and turning plot that will have you guessing till the end.

The consensual sexual encounters are scorching. (Warning: this story does contain forced sex). Although, I wasn't a huge fan of either Declan or Zoey, Zoey Rogue held me to the pages and kept me invested in the story till the end.

A steamy, paranormal read Zoey Rogue is a wonderful start to what is sure to be a fabulous series to follow.

I received this copy of Zoey Rogue from Indie Inked in exchanged for a honest review.

The first book in the Incubatti series is a action-packed paranormal full of suspense, romance, friendship and betrayal.

When Zoey meets her mate Declan, she fights against the bonding as hard as she can. They are enemies, but the chemistry between them burns white hot and the sex is smoking hot. The attraction builds throughout the book, singeing the reader. The author puts the reader right into the room with the couple during the well written sex scenes and arguments between the couple.

The action starts off the story and continues throughout the book as Zoey and her group fights to protect human women from the Cambion. The battles in the story are well orchestrated and keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

The suspense builds as Zoey’s team slowly realize that they don’t know who to trust and that they are being betrayed, but are they being betrayed by their new found mates or by the Sucubatti, whom they work for.

The emotional angst that Zoey has to deal with is enough to make anyone have a meltdown, but she is a strong character with protective instincts and a go her own way and defy the rules attitude that compels the reader. Declan is a sexy, arrogant hunk that is determined to have everything his own way, but the kind the reader just knows will protect what’s his. All the secondary characters are engaging and draw the reader deeper into the story and adding even more depth to the book.

The author has created a very intriguing and engaging paranormal world with unique twists to the genre and bewitching characters that entertain the reader throughout the book. I was extremely pleased with this very entertaining book. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. I was a little upset with the cliffhanger, but the author knew what she was doing, I will definitely be reading the second book in the series.

Oh my goodness gracious this book was absolutely fan-freakin-tastic. Every book Lizzy writes that is outside of her "norm" just gets better and better. Before I get into this review I need to remind readers this book has some explicit sexual scenes and is recommended for readers over the age of 17.

I love Zoey to death, she is spunky, carefree and a firecracker. Zoey is a Halfling who wants more than anything to be "normal" and has been in a relationship with a human for over a year. Vikki is her best friend and confidant. They are on a team of fighters that protect humans from Cambions that kill innocent human women. Zoey will make you laugh and feel for her as her life is in a constant state of change and chaos.

Now we get to the sexy Declan who is an Enforcer and Zoey's soul-mate. Both Zoey and Declan do not in any way shape or form want to have a soul-mate. Declan has put off coming for Zoey for years while Zoey had no clue that he even existed. Declan is getting ready to become the Head of the Enforcers and must walk a fine line when it comes to the Cambions, even though Zoey wants nothing more than to kill them all.

Through this story you get to see a relationship between two stubborn people who are struggling with what their roles are. Zoey is terrific I love her personality and Declan is such a badass, but as the story continues he actually surprises you with a little bit of a softer side. The sex scenes where over the top HOT!!! and I have to say for Lizzy's first go at writing them that graphic she did not go wrong. I highly recommend this read if you are looking for a paranormal/sexy read.

I was unsure on reading this book since I usually am not that into Succubus or Incubus books but WOW!! This was definitely a GREAT book. Let me first say that if you are not into hot steamy romances, then you may not want to read this book. It is HOTT!!

This book is not all about the sex and hottness though. There is also action, humour, suspense, and even a little mystery. Zoey is a halfling hunter who is feisty, goes against authority but is loyal and protective of the ones she loves. Declan is protective and possessive, sexy, but deep down he is a hot steamy gentleman (If that's possible). I found myself wanting to be Zoey when she was interacting with Declan. In my dreams maybe! The story was very well paced and you did not feel rushed or want to skip ahead because it dragged on. I had trouble putting my Kindle down since I was so engrossed in this book. I did cry at one point. I cried at the end due to the fact I have to wait for Book 2 to come out!! The ending definitely leaves you wanting more and I searched Miss Ford's site for 20 minutes hoping and praying that the second book was out. But thankfully it should be out soon! But needless to say, this book is very well written, pulls you in and won't let you go, and definitely makes you want to read more from Lizzy Ford! I will definitely be checking out more of her books and I have added her to my favorite authors list!!

I have been a big Lizzy Ford fan since I ran across her book "Damien's Oracle" about two years ago and I must say she has done it again. This one was a bit of a surprise with the inclusion of sex scenes which her other books have just alluded to. Some readers complained about this, but I found it refreshing and left more for the actual story content. Although this story contains sex scenes, she still has maintained the integrity of her style. Zoey's character is a lot like many young women in her age group today with a paranormal side added to it. She is confused but has an ingrained sense of right and wrong that she is rashly passionate about. Declan, is the mature counterbalance that has the same sense of responsibility but is more diplomatic and strategic in his approach. To add to the story the underlying animosity between their two organizations, the Incubatti and Sucubatti, add a dimension to the story line that strays from the typical romance. Both organizations are outwardly at war but there is inner dissension within one that could lead to a big dent in Zoey and Declan's relationship. It is a constant battle to see if their bond is enough to counteract the underhanded plot afoot within the organizations. This is a great read for anyone who loves a good plot, characters, suspense, and a hint of paranormal.

Was my first, but not my last!

Okay.. I was hesitant to read this because it was a "paranormal". I usually like to read books that I can relate to.
Well.. this one did it for me. :) It did take me a while to start to understand the different types of "councils" or whatever they are.. but once I was able to figure that out.. and get it straight in my head, I was able to really enjoy the story line. I felt that in the beginning it was really throwing me off since I have never read a paranormal and I just got lost, but once I wrapped my head around it all, I understood it. (not really the authors fault, more my lack of understanding)

I love the relationships in the story and really, really, love the hot "love" scenes in the story. I usually like "Alpha-Male" stories, which this is, but Zoey is a "kick-ass" kind of girl, and loved it to. She gave Declan a run for his money.

If you haven't read a paranormal before and want to try one, I would highly recommend this. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to seeing how this story continues.

Nooooo. She did not just end it there and leave me hanging!!! This book was just what I needed to pull me out of my reading funk. I absolutely love Zoey and Declan. Zoey is a smart, sassy, tough chick who knows how to handle herself. Declan is a sexy as sin Incubus who is determined to make Zoey his. I love the back and forth between them. I was glad that Zoey wasn't one of those chicks that claim to be tough but just fall at the guys feet with just one look. Neither one wants to to have a mate and both fight it as long as they can. Lots of action, mystery and steamy scenes! I can't wait to see what happens next!

There are tons of books about vampires, about werewolves but about succubus and incubus there are almost no decent books.Zoey Rogue is a different book that is certain to make you hold your breath due to the constant lack of self-perseverance from Zoey, and ever present confidence emanating from Declan. These two are a pair I could read about all day long.

She flushed, eyes glittering. "We're a good pair, aren't we?"

"Complete opposites." He smiled

I haven't read a book about this in so long. I am addicted to the series Lost girl, so I am kind of addicted to succubus so I though to give this book a go, and it was far better than what I hoped. It was so funny with constant wits and the frequent use of sarcasm, it was risky due to the whole team of succubus (Team R) fighting the Cambions with all these weapons and Bruce-lee moves and most important, it was cute because of the constant refusal of the bond by Zoey and knowing looks from Declan saying : Yeah, right... You'll be back by tonight.

description

If you don't know what Cambions are, they are the sons of incubus with humans, and they are like super mean and nasty. They basically kidnap girls and kill them after feeding of their energy to make them stronger. And team R was created just to kill them...

Zoey is a girl that no one can control no matter how hard they try. It's just not possible and trust me when I say that many people tried. She's a rebel and does not like rules, but at the same time she's brave and strong whilst being sweet. That's often a hard combination the make but Zoey nailed it. I completely fell in love with her because she made such a strong impact from the first page and you just can't help it, she's adorable but she has this toughness in having to deal with her sex energy that takes a lot of her and fighting guys to protect innocent girls. Zoey is a modern day hero.

"Sleeping with the enemy. It's fucked up"

Declan had my nerves on edge the whole time because I just knew he was eventually screw things up, and guess what? He did... I liked him in the start and I though he could be a really good combination with Zoey because they are so different, and he's an authority figure and she's an outlaw... I was right, but I was also wrong. They are awesome together but Declan is a dick. I rest my case on him here, because I am super mad about what he did in the end...

"You're never getting to strike three," she said with a wicked grin.

"My kitten tries to roar but all I hear is a tiny little meow," he teased.

Vikki is my hero... She's awesome but I wished that she wouldn't be so influenced by the "Bond" thing with Liam, because it's basically girl rules to protect your friends over your guy. And she kind of spilled the secrets every time. I know she couldn't help it with all the mind reading and shit, but come on... I really liked the bond she had with Zoey, you don't see that often and I could tell all the pass between them and all the sisterhood thing going on...

"Hey, Wes, can you get us grenades?" Vikki asked

"I'd trust a two-year-old with grenades over you two."

"Ouch," Zoey muttered

Zoey Rogue is like a preparation to the next book Zoey Avenger, which is the book I will die if I don't have in my hands soon. It has all the fighting, lying, scheming and romance you may want with a different edge to it. The characters are awesomely constructed and the story is vicious. I never read nothing by Lizzy Ford but I will have to catch up on that because this was just amazing.

I'm not sure what to think about this story. I liked the overall premise, but it seemed like this book was lacking something, but I still can't figure out what.

Zoey is a Halfling (half human, half succubus), who desperately wants to live a normal life as a human, even has a human boyfriend (who has no idea what she is). She is a Hunter on Team R of the Succubatti, and Hunters are responsible for killing Cambions (the sons of an Incubus and a human mother), who sex and kill young women for the sex energy.

So apparently she has a soulmate, but not just any soul-mate, an Incubus soulmate. And not just an Incubus soulmate, the the head of the Incubatti Enforcers (clutch your pearls ladies!) So he's supposed to be all bad-ass I guess.

What I am NOT impressed with is the lack of world building and explanations about certain events: the story is supposed to take place in the DC area, but you'd never know it based on the lack of descriptions of the location (except for throwing out the names Rock Creek Park and Chevy Chase, which are only small parts of the DMV).
How does an Incubus claim his soulmate? Does he just say "I'm claiming you, now we have to go through the three strikes?" What happened during Zoey's early years, before becoming a Team R member? We're given a bit of background on Vikki, but nothing on Zoey. What the hell is Olivia up to? And the thing that really got me was that Zoey wanted Eric to forgive her, but yet she ran away when faced with what happened with Declan, even knowing that he was tricked?

Still a good start to the series and I'll be reading the future installments.

Finally finished! This was by far the best book I have read this year! I love the whole succubus, half succubus, Incubus and whatever they hunt are called lol. It was something I never read about but I found this to be very interesting and had me enthralled. At first I thought Declan was a little pushy for my taste but I got used it it and just thought he needed a little more force for Zoey since she doesn't do well with rules and has a temper. I was shocked that they are Olivia's daughter but I always something was up. I was sad to see that Declan was fooled since if he couldn't feel the bonds between his mate you would think it wasn't her and with everything going on you would take twice about before sleeping with two chick who didn't have the bond T_T. Even though he didnt know I still feel sad for her and hope the author doesn't get them back so quick. I feel like he should give her time since he did in fact have sex with them and he's he thought it was Zoey but still if he knew it was wrong and felt wrong since like I said he didn't feel the bond why do it. And how did he get drugged? The girls? It's a water bottle so how did they get it passed them? I thought the father knew since he said he will tell him never? But yeah I was sad that I came to the end. Lol I thought there was going to be a next chapter but yeah it ended with a Cliffie~ I can't wait for the next book! I recommend everyone to read this! It's very interesting and love the fights they get into! :)

If you pick this book up please know it is in fact thinly disguised smut. I enjoyed it & am looking forward to book 2. Although if I honest I'd tell you it ended in a cliff hanger in the middle of an adventure scenes & I care less. I read it for the smut.
Although I stuck it with a -1 star for the cliff hanger but ended up +1 one bc it's the 1st book in a series as such I always give a pass. Resulting in a 2.5 score. I always round up. I'm nice that way. =-)

I totally understand the 1-2 stars reviews. Admittedly, I found Zoey extremely annoying to the point that I almost DNF quite a few times. However, I actually thought the plot was really awesome so I tried and tried to read the book. and you know what I actually understand the characters much much better and the story really turned even better. Zoey was really really a complicated character in the book... For a hint to understand her better, she is a type a Japanese Otaku would called a "Tsundare", anyone who enjoy Japanese Manga would probably know what this is. a "Tsundare" is a person who says or do something but means the other or the opposite way. And I think Zoey deserves a explanation for her attitude.

Spoilers
Spoilerssssss!!!

Zoey was actually perfect in badass-ness. She and her Team R members kicked ass so much I was in conflict of loving her and hating her for her personality at first. Zoey was a Halfling, genetically created half succubus. Halflings were created by the full-blooded succubus as Hunters. What were they hunting? Cambions, which were the half-breed of Incubus. Let us see the interesting world created here. In Zoey world of Incubus and Succubus, they were not of the same kind. In fact they were enemy for the past hundred years. Succubus and Incubus were in a really complicated relationship since the Halflings were hunting Cambions, half-breed of both species. Cambions were uncontrollable in feeding off sex energy. They tended to get violent in feeding off its prey, mostly female humans and the Succubus societies, being all females, was not exactly happy about this. SO they created hunters to hunt Cambion. Zoey was hunter and a part in Team R, the strongest, most number-of-killed, kickass, rebellious Team, aka Team Reject. Despite being a Halfling, Zoey wanted to be normal. so much so that she took a relationship with Eric, a human. She thought that Eric would ground her to normalcy. She thought she could keep secret from him and still had relationship with him. Zoey kept 2 different lives. During the day she was a college student in a prestigious girl school while she hunted Cambion during the Night. In her own world, her life was perfect. She got to kill off Cambion, getting her sex energy and got to have a "normal' relationship with a boyfriend who was safe and secure. Her relationship was all about security and herself. She was such a scared selfish person then. She even still led Eric on, knowing he was gonna proposed to her. and when It happened she ran away.

At this point, I was like... OMG, you selfish B*tch. And it got more and more irritating when Eric broke up with her. She didnot even know she was in the wrong.

“I don’t care! You and I were a couple. That meant we weren’t sleeping around, making out with or kissing other people!”
She hadn’t really thought of it that way. She’d sworn not to cheat, which meant sleeping around. The rest…well, she took some pleasure in it. But it was still a job. Her throat tightened. She didn’t know what to say. He seemed to be waiting for her to say something.

And she kept believing that he would take her back. She kept repeating how Eric would call and everything would be okay...

Eric was right. Vikki was right. The Professor was right. Why was everyone right except for her? Why couldn’t things stay the way they were?

She had to make it a few days without succumbing to the sex energy spinning through her. Eric would call, and things would go back to the way they were.

Again!!!

“That’s not gonna work for me,” she said. “Eric is going to call me back like, tomorrow probably, and we’ll be getting married. I kinda have plans.”

And AGAIN!!!!! on and on and on...

She didn’t believe there were Incubus soul-mates or that Eric wasn’t going to call her. In a few days, everything would be normal. The Professor would stop revealing secrets to her, Eric would welcome her home, and she and Vikki would be out killing Cambions.

You had no idea how many time I was tempted to DNF at those point!!

But you know what.. suddenly I got her.. she didn't keep repeating it because she believed it. She always knew in her heart that what she did was wrong and Eric deserved better.

This was real. He was breaking up with her. For the first time this morning, Zoey understood what was happening. There was no fixing this. There was no going back to how things were yesterday.

Eric was too good for her. He deserved someone better. She’d always known that, but she’d never wanted to let him go. He was all that kept her feet on the ground.

She repeated it because she was afraid of losing herself. Despite being kickass and super strong, she was still a vulnerable girl. She kept saying it so as she could keep herself going on. So this was where I understood her as a "Tsundare" and if you continued to read forward like me, you would know that it was true. Especially when she was with Declan, she always and always refusing him but all her "no" was a super "YES!!". After she ended up with Declan, I seriously grew to love her. I hated her with Eric but she was perfect with Declan. A character that I don't see much in Western Novel but find quite frequently in Japanese novel and Manga. Zoey was this cute character I found interesting. and the book got better onward since she met Declan.

Declan was an Incubus, of course. What's more? He was also Zoey soul-mate whom he marked but refused to acknowledge for three years!!! Declan was a youngest of the Nine siblings but he was also the strongest and the Heir to the Incubatti society as the next Enforcer Chief. He knew of Zoey and of all her rebellious traits. He believed that Zoey was not suitable as a wife of Enforcer Chief. She was a risk that he refused to take. He had believed the files instead of learning about her. However, Situation were unpredictable that he was forced to come to his soul mate rescue. and when he met her again, there was no denying the need and Sex energy. and Zoey was also not what he expected. She was gorgeous adorable thing that defy him at every turns. But Hell, it turned him on real bad. So Declan decided to have her after all. He was real aggressive in his effort to bind them together. In fact while his brothers took weeks and months to compete the ritual, he took exactly 3 days!!!

Let's further clarify this interesting world. Apparently, Incubus breed with Halfling to create Incubus. Similarly, Succubus breed with Cambion to create Succubus. Any union with human would create half-breed that was necessary for Incubus and Succubus to reproduce. Very very Interesting concept. I'm very impressed with this!!! complicated and f*ck-up but really really nice!!
And the claiming of Halfling as Soul-mate takes 3 days, not necessarily consecutively. Simple, they had to have sex for 3 days to complete the ritual which is call Strike 1,2 and 3. I bang u, it's Strike 1!!! I had opened my soul to you. I bang u again, it's Strike 2, wow, sounded like a baseball base but hey now you opened your soul to me. The last bang, Strike 3. Our soul are now one!! we are married!!!

Zoey was strike 3 on the third day!! fully and whole-heartedly became Declan's wife only for things to turn to Sh*t!! At this point, I had to mention that I left a lot and lot of details behind which were all very important storylines. There were villians, other R team members, Declan's brothers, Halfling's assigned guardians and more. they were all important and quite well developed into the story but you would have to read them yourself. I just wanna point-out the factor that made some reader DNF with the book and if anyone agreed with me, I hope they would try to tolerate the book to the end because it was really good. Okay!! So thing turned to Sh*t!! Why oh why!!??!?! let just say that there were losing of conscious and doing unspeakable thing that could break any relationship. and we were left withhhhh CLIFFFHANGER!!!!!! Damn you cliffhanger!!! Fortunately I have the second book waiting for me!! :P

Final point, The "SEX energy" thingy. LOL
I got that some reader really got fed up with how many time "SEX energy" was written. and It might even sounded kinda lame. But personally I had no whatsoever problem with it. It was just like some other fantasy books like fae and vampire boks where they mentioned a lot of "fae magic" or "vampiric power". Well perhaps "sex energy" just sounded more silly. Hey! but what do you expect? This is Incubus and Succubus here. ;D

4.4 Love to hate-it-but totally-can't stars

P.S. I'm actually happy to see Eric with a new girlfriend. Zoey hurt him bad. But I hope his new girlfriend was not be so manipulative jealous girl.
