The year is 2052. Global warming has changed the landscape of the planet.
England - Bournemouth, in particular - is now one of the tourist capitals of the world.
But, for Emilie Calvas, a normal fourteen year old girl living in the ever-growing city, it was a normal morning which would lead to a normal school day… or so she thought.
All it took was one phone call before school started - one sentence, even. A revelation from someone that she’d never spoken to before, that would change her life forever.
The myths were true. Mermaids were real. And she had twenty four hours to live.
As a first novel this is outstanding. Within the second chapter I was hooked, and this didn't let up until the agonizing end, (it's not a standalone novel). Very quickly you care about the characters and how they develop throughout the story. This makes certain events even more shocking, as the plot twists and turns. Very excited to see where the next instalment goes and how Glen further develops 'Emmy & Lady Ophelia'. Very deserving of 5*.
