Deathless Night #1

A Vampire Bewitched: Deathless Night, Book 1

Rate this book
It’s been seven years since Nikulas’ brother walked out the door of his Seattle apartment and never came back. All he knew was that the he was on his way to meet with the leader of a neighboring vampire colony who’d been causing trouble, and neither of them have been seen since. Now, with the first lead he's had in years, Nikulas discovers that a witch went missing around the same time. Coincidence? No way. And even better, she has a sister. And that sister is hot. Nikulas knows as soon as he sets eyes on Emma's strawberry-blonde head that he should stay away from her...the moment he tastes her blood, he knows he won’t be able to. Because Emma is HIS.

Seven years after Emma witnessed her sister’s kidnapping, there’s still no sign of what happened to her. She, herself, spent three months in the hospital after the “bear” attack, and still has the scars to prove it. Now, as day after day passes with no news of her sister, she has to fight against the loss of hope…until she gets a phone call from a seductive stranger who claims to have new information. He seems harmless with his teasing manner and Hollywood pretty-boy looks, but she can sense a predatory air of danger about him. Instead of warning her away, however, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him, and agrees to go with him on a rescue mission to find their missing siblings.

Although Nikulas aches to keep Emma with him always, a ghost from the past won’t let him. And he soon finds out that she her own demons to fight. Determined to resist the Blood Hunger, Nikulas decides that she deserves more than spending her life with a vampire, even if it means losing his own in the process. However, Emma is just as determined to prove to him that they can fight their ghosts…together.

L.E. Wilson writes Paranormal Romance starring intense alpha males and the women who are fearless enough to tame them—for the most part anyway. ;) In her novels you'll find smoking hot scenes, a touch of suspense, a bit of gore, and multifaceted characters, all working together to combine her lifelong obsession with the paranormal and her love of romance.

Her writing career came about the usual way: on a dare from her loving husband. Little did they know just one casual suggestion would open a box of worms (or words as the case may be) that would forever change their lives.

Lattes and music are a necessary part of her writing process, and sometimes you'll find her typing away at her favorite Starbucks. She walks two miles to get there, to make up for all of those coffees.

Following my completion of Blood Submission (book 5) as part of a review tour, I purchased the previous books in the series. That is how much I had enjoyed that installment. Now I have finished Blood Hunger (book one) I can honestly say I got my money’s worth.

In this installment, we meet Niklaus a vampire and Emma who has no idea she is a witch.

She has no clue of the powers she can wield. Seven years ago, she witnessed her sister’s kidnapping at the hands of monstrous creatures. Since then she dedicated her life trying to find her but her searches proved fruitless, but she refused to give up hope. The memories of that fateful night still haunts her.

Nikulas a vampire has searching for his brother who went missing seven years ago. His search led him to Emma, whom he believes is the link to finding his brother.

Their initial interaction did not go so well. Their attraction to each other was instantaneous; however, despite this Emma thought he was an arrogant ass. To top it all she did not believe the information he relayed regarding her sister’s disappearance. She had a harder time accepting she was a witch. Nick recognized he had his work cut out for him in getting her to believe and trust him.

I enjoyed the camaraderie between the characters. Although this is Emma and Nik’s story, the character that got me all excited was Aiden, Nick’s guardian and best friend. He stroked my funny bone and had me laughing throughout the story.

Nik, though a badass, swoon worthy vampire struggled with issues from his past. These issues fed his fears, which resulted in him fighting his attraction to Emma.

I admired Emma’s show of strength. She has been through hell and back, but she is a survivor.  However, there was a point in the story where her fears got the better of her.

I found the romance heartwarming, sweet and sexy.  Their romance felt real, despite their instant connection. Their emotions leapt off the pages.

I loved the author’s writing style. The story was fun and riveting. It hooked me from the first page. I had a hard time putting it down. I laughed, I shed a few tears, and the story kept me on my toes. I did not want it to end.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, this was a great start to the series. I cannot wait to get to the next book in the series.

This is the first book in the Deathless Night series and it revolves around Emma and Nikulas.

Emma hates accounting, is a workout addict and loves reading on her windowseat. She suffers from sketchy sleep and nightmares about her missing sister. She has blocked the memories of what really happened that night but is still trying to find her sister, Keira.

Nikulaus is spying on Emma because he needs her to get his brother back. Luukas in Nik's brother and the Master Vampire of their region. He disappeared without a trace seven years ago but Nik suspects that the disappearance of Luukas and Keira may be connected.

Aiden was a badass, lunatic, powerhouse Brit. I started this series directly from book 3 which has Aiden in the lead. He was brilliant, funny, sweet and is the reason I looked for the other books in the series. In this story he acts as a Guardian to Nik and Cupid to the budding romance between Emma and Nik.
He's also Nik's best friend and believes Emma is just what his friend needs.

Lifemates is a huge part of vampire folklore and the author uses this plot device effectively. A bonded vampire will do anything for his mate, he is protective and possessive by nature. Nik has been in love before but he is not ready to risk Emma. This leads to a lot of misunderstandings and tension between the two.

Emma and Nik join forces to rescue their missing siblings. This is the part any action movie buff would approve - you get plans, modified cars and lots of sneaky gadgets. Think Vampires - inspired by James Bond. It makes sense as they are all Hunters, part of the Vampire Council.

The book also has the Good vs Evil concept, the good guys are Vampires and the bad guys are Legion. The book has some other vile monsters who snatched Keira.

I feel like Godilocks as I type this but the pacing was absolutely perfect. Not too fast, not too slow, it was just right.

This book is juggling a lot of sub plots, the romantic relationship, the missing siblings, the internal conflict of Nik, Emma's tragic past and the Amazing Aiden.
At no point is the reader overwhelmed, you don't lose track of what's happening or whose who. The author gets major points for this.
I will finish off by saying - start with the first book, the series is definitely worth it.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Vampires, werewolves, and witches, Oh my!

Emma's sister, Keira, has been missing for seven years, and for seven years Emma has not once stopped looking for her. Nikulas' brother, Luuk, Master Vampire, has also been missing for seven years. Nik believes that with Emma's help, together they can find their siblings. But first Nik needs Emma to understand and accept that she comes from a long line of witches, and that she herself is a witch.

With a market saturated with novels of the paranormal genre, finding a decent novel that includes a hero who's a vampire has been difficult for me. That and I'm personally a little tired of them. Coming across "Blood Hunger," I was quite hesitant but eventually gave in. Color me surprised. I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. "Blood Hunger," full of drama, suspense, romance and hot sex, is an entertaining and engaging story with likeable characters. In particular, I loved Nik's good friend, Aiden, who kept me amused throughout.

So why four stars and not five. For two reasons. The first one being Emma and Nik's sexual relationship. I don't know about you but after a while all it does is irritate the shit out of me.

Last,

In the end, still a pretty good read.

Couldn't Put It Down

I read this book when I should have been sleeping. It didn't end on a cliffhanger, but some things were left unanswered, so I can't wait to see where the story goes in the next books!

Our lead woman was a doormat the entire book and the plot wasn’t really there. She barely had a personality. Our main guy, Nikulas, noted in the first couple chapters that she was boring, and he wasn’t wrong. As the for the plot, there so many random pov’s from other characters that don’t even get a chance to interact with our main characters. I get that it’s likely building for the next books, but it left the plot feeling disjointed and the pacing feeling slow.

Another vampire book... Im in a PNR funk...

So Nikulas is looking for this brother for 7 years... yeah thats right SEVEN YEARS!!!
They found out that a witch might me involved and sets to track her sister and get answers...
7 years ago Emma witnessed her sister being kidnapped, since then she is trying to find her.
But when they meet they discovered that they are mates!!!

Randon things about this book:
She runs, does kickboxing EVERYDAY but is still the little fragile human girl, that freezes with panic!!
He was a dark pass but that ends up being a set up!
7 years to find someone that never left the same place, 2 years was more that enough and the story would me more coherent.

I'm not impressed. I really only read the whole book because I had nothing better to do, not because it was good. It was such a mess. Everything was too easy. Emma accepted things too easy, Leeha was found too easy, and she also got away too easy... None of the characters made any sense. I do not even know why I didn't just DNF it, there is nothing about this story that I liked. 1,5 stars for A Vampire Bewitched.

Intriguing but ultimately a disappointing end

Seven years ago Emma's sister Keira was kidnapped by monsters, Emma escaped but she was left scarred for life and tormented by nightmares. Obviously no one actually believed it was monsters, a bear attack was given as the official reason, Emma is still looking for Keira, she is after all the only family she has, then one night Emma gets a call from someone claiming to have information on her sister and telling her to be at The Vineyard at 9pm. Nikulas Kreek is a six hundred year old vampire who needs Emma's help since he suspects his brother Luukas and Keira are being held together.
Emma has to not only content with her attraction to Nik but she also has to come to terms with her family history and the fact that just maybe her sister didn't tell her everything.
This book started really well, I was intrigued with the story and the characters but it began to run out of steam towards the end and was ultimately anticlimactic, which was a shame because until then I was with it all the way.

Alright so I received this book for free in return for am honest review. When I was presented this book, just from the description I was ready to read this book. Im very glad I did. I receiving requests for read and reviews, because I like reading what indie authors have to offer. Well L.E. Wilson, has totally made it all worth it with this book. The moment I picked it up and started reading it I was hooked! I was even highly upset that I had to go to work, because it interrupted my time in reading this book. Well I finly finished it, and honestly cannot wait for the next book, im dying to know what happens next. So many questions....what happened with Aiden? Whats going to come of Luukas? Will we see more of the wolves? The basis of just this one book, sets up for a very promising series. Thank you Ms. Wilson for contacting me about this book, it was a complete joy and pleasure reading it.

It was weirdly bad dialog. Too many exclamation points. Like a lot of unnecessary yelling in weird moments. I liked Aidens character a lot, he was the highlight of the book to me. Came off as a YA read with sex, but not a good YA, mediocre. Just not...... the characters were immature but not in an endearing way. Then to say that she wasnt raped because the P didnt go into the V was very, is uneducated the right word?? Then it happens again! ugh. The fights between the MC's were over the top and just made you tilt your head while scrunching your face, like what is happening right now. Bummer, havent had a good vamp book in a while and was excited for this.

It started off alright, but...
I never expect a super original and gripping story from paranormal romance, but I have to say that the second part of this book was a bit of a flapdoodle and a let down. The story was just very rushed at the end due to which nothing was properly explained and everything felt weird.
I also cannot get over the behavior of the two protagonists.
It is really a shame, because the first half of the book was promising.

I love a will they, won’t they romance, but this just wasn’t done in a good way. The story and plot were good but not fleshed out enough. Half the time I was sitting there wondering if I missed something and things that shouldn’t have been an issue were. I liked the idea of the story, it just wasn’t there for me.

El uso repetido de "female" casi me vuelve loca, pero nada en comparacion a los histéricos que son los protagonistas.

Juvenile, little character development or world building and the story makes no sense. The vampires were centuries old, but behaved like sex obsessed teenagers. Neither Emma nor Nikulas were appealing characters. The attraction between them didn’t feel believable and their seemingly endless mood swings were exhausting. The big rescue plan the vampires had worked on for the past seven years was so ill conceived, it could have been designed by a five year old. No idea why they waited seven years, that wasn’t properly explained other than some vague excuse about not being able to find the bag guys. Some werewolves were added into the story for no apparent reason. The other three vampires in the team were so weak, they were easily captured like they were ordinary humans unlike the skilled warriors they were supposed to be. No idea what happened to them, they weren’t mentioned again. Which brings us to Dante, their team leader. He’s a sadistic serial killer who enjoys torturing humans to death, but for some reason he’s supposed to be one of the good guys. What the hell? And the book was so long. The author clearly loves writing and good on her for following her dream. I just wished she’d put as much effort into a well thought out and logical story than her word count. No idea how this book gained so many glowing reviews.

Could not even soldier through more than the first 20 pages, which is rare for me. This could be popular with a younger audience, but style and characters did nothing for me that said "Keep reading, it gets better." I should have read other reviews first. Reminds me of my own ultra cringe early attempts at writing when I was 13 years old thinking I was more mature and worldly than I was.

There is a good reason those works were burned.

Great book

Nik is a vampire and Emma is a witch (unbeknownst to her). They are both missing a sibling and team up to find them. Nik tastes Emma's blood and discovers she's a myth...his fated mate. He does his best to leave her alone because he doesn't want to tie her to him forever. He wants her to live her life without him. Emma doesn't see it that way. She wants him. After a great deal of misadventures, kidnappings and monsters, they succeed in their quest. Nik messes with Emma's head and sends her home. She realizes something's wrong but doesn't know what. Nik shows up, against his better judgement, and they finally get their HEA.

Decent world building for this vampire team and the kidnapping of his brother and the witches sister. I wish I had gotten more emotionally involved but otherwise, it was alright.

He refused to believe she was his mate and needed her help save his brother. She was attacked by gross zombie vampires when her sister was taken and it left her wary of supernatural beings and self conscious of her scarring. Eventually he leaves her and wipes her memory so she can live out her life even though, without her blood, he’ll die.
