This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. There is a character from previous books that has a heavy role in the proceedings. You really don't need to know his whole story though. In this one we follow a group of smugglers that end being involved in something way larger than they expected.
Two weeks into the new year and I finally have my first five star rating. This book was pure fun and it had it all. The author has described this series as Star Wars meeting football. This one had very little to do with football but it felt like the old Star Wars that I remember as a kid. It had a bunch of ragtag characters that belong from various species who end becoming reluctant heroes. It has the evil villain that is a reflection of the main character. And we have the race between good and evil and throughout this race it is interspersed with humor. All this culminates in an amazing finale that leaves it open to a sequel. Now you can see why this reminded of Star Wars when Star Wars was fun and terrific. There is something here for everyone whether it is the diverse characters or the actual mission with all the action.
This took me a awhile to read but that is not a reflection of my enjoyment. This is more than worthy of an entry in this series that has become one of my favorites. I really hope the author brings back this cast of characters because I desire to spend more time with them.

Slipping back into the Galactic Football League universe is equivalent to stepping back into Midworld in the Dark Tower series. So I feel like my family grew today. The crew of this ship are warriors that I would go into battle with. They are not perfect, they all struggle with their own personal demons, but when sacrifices must be made they know that the best path is hardly ever the easy path.
Exciting, fun and action packed with some great links to the Galactic Football League, this story answers a lot of questions and brings up others leaving you begging for the next book in the series. If you are new to the GFL, you have to read books 1-5 before you read this to prevent spoilers
Things are coming to a major climax and I can not wait to see how these characters help the cause.
I already consider the Ionath Krakens team to be part of my family, and this band of misfits has been added to my crew.

Wow wow wow! This is a "novella" in the GFL series, but is longer than a lot of books I read. I'm a HUGE, super mega huge, fan of the GFL series, but this might be my favorite book that Sigler has done.
I don't want to spoil, so I'll just stick with a recommendation. I can't see any SciFi fan not loving this book.
The GFL books are a special treat in audio. Scott Sigler narrates all of the GFL books and the delivery and production is off the charts. I've listened to probably over 100 audio books with many many narrators, and Scott is simply on a whole other level.
If you haven't gotten into Scott Sigler, just do yourself a favor and do it. Look at the reading order and do it. All of his books, present and far future, exist in the same sprawling universe. There are water eggs everywhere that just further enhance great stories. Quite frankly, possibly the most well thought out universe in all of scifi. I'm a huge Peter F Hamilton fan and he's known for his world building. Scott's world building is on par, if not beyond, anything PFH has done, and I cannot stress what praise that is to me.

Another thrilling spinoff in the GFL universe, THE STONE WOLVES follows Cillian, father of Quentin Barnes, as he is pulled into one last job with his old crew, while managing the eccentricities and complexities of his new crew.
I loved the entire idea of this story. The idea of an old soldier torn between his past and present holds enormous appeal to me, and Cillian was the perfect main character to lead such a story. Not only was he complex in his emotions and how he managed them, but he had a clear arc that kept me engaged all the way through.
Each of the side characters had a great story as well, all of them adding to Cillian yet staying uniquely themselves. Everyone had a distinct quirk, yet remained layered as the story went on.
The plot was straightforward and easy to follow, with more than a few surprises and high stakes. The action was visceral and exciting, and the world building as fresh as ever. Long time fans of Scott Sigler will find a great deal of enjoyment in this spinoff. That said, I think readers can experience this book without going through the entire series, though I can imagine by the end, they will find themselves enticed to visit more of the Siglerverse.

Being a huge fan of both these authors, I jumped at the chance to listen to this audiobook once it dropped on Audible. And as always, I was not disappointed. The story is kick butt from start to finish and it flushes out the lives of the crew of the Oloron (sp?) The only bad thing I have to say isn't even that bad of a thing. I just couldn't help but grown at the end of the epilogue and that little teaser and Scott and J.C. left us with. This is a perfect addition to the GFL universe and I can't wait to see those two do it again!

Another supplemental story in the GFL series that is supposed to be a novella but Sigler just has too much story to keep it short and light. This one packs a lot of punches and fleshes out the story of characters met in The Gangster (GFL book VI) so well that it should be elevated to be part of the GFL series, straight up. Highly suggest reading it after book VI the first time but after book V if re-reads ever strike your fancy.

Wow!
Haven't read Scott Sigler's GFL novels for a few years now, but something about this one wanted me to read it - I'm glad I did! A new cast of characters, new locations, and only passing reference to the GFL Siglerverse so that I don't have to go back and re-read them all again. All in all an enjoyable galactic romp, looking forward to the sequel.

This was supposedly a "Novel" but the size makes me believe it is actually a full book. Non the less, this was another sold story by Scott Sigler in the GFL series. This helped to tie together a lot of the GFL past stories and was fun as usual. Just makes me hunger for the next installment from the Siglersphere.

Great insight into Cillian Carbanaro, and what made him into the legend he was. Looks like it takes place right after the end of The Champion. Explains his disappearance from Quentins life, and what took place during that absence. Great read, and looking forward to (a possible) continuation of the series?

Wow, Scott's done it again. A great science-fiction thriller! Lots of action and plenty of comic relief. Beans is definitely one of my favorite characters that he's come up with. I listened to the audiobook and Scott does a fantastic job of bringing his characters to life.

A great spin off adventure taking place right before book 6 of the football series. Lots of death, jokes, and "Beans" a perfect comic relief character. Scott Sigler is a fun author and cannot wait for him to finish this series once and for all.

I loved this. I'm an original junkie. Not only that, but I was listening to 7th son while waiting for new episodes of the rookie to drop. Everyone did a great job, can't wait for more.

Exciting and essential side-story. The FDO brings in a fantastic new cast of characters that are on a collision course with the main series, and delivers on all fronts.

Holy High One! This is marketed as a novella because it comes between the main novels, but at 17 hours for the audiobook this is a mega-dose of Sigler GFL goodness.
I don't want to give away any spoilers but this fills in much of the backstory for GFL Book 6.
