Returning home to Seattle from a twenty year absence in London...
Victoria discovers that time has not erased her feelings for an unrequited love. It soon becomes obvious that with true love, lightning can sometimes strike twice.
This is set in the same world as Music of the Soul but is a standalone book.

3.5 to 4-ish... It was nice but I felt like some dialogues were repetitive. I mean, more than one character noticed this thing about one character. I get it and it doesn't need to be repeated every once in a while... or is that a blatant hint of a standalone involving........ :) I also got a bit annoyed with the abundance of Vicky's favourite line 'I'd so make an awesome (blank)'.
I enjoyed Mia's and Abbey & Sam's part of the story. Missy is adorably crass as usual. haha Vicky is sweet but I get tired just reading her ramble and create all that mental white noise.
I was leery of reading a lesbian story written by a man. And I think I was right to be. There was no chemistry between the two MCs. I found that I really didn't care if they got together or not. The story was just okay. But the massive amount of repeat errors and run-on sentences was VERY annoying.
As usual Erik has brought a smile to my face and laughter to my soul. I had been waiting for the story of Victoria and Mia with anticipation and was not disappointed but for one itsy bitsy fact, it ended too soon. Vicky has been one of my favorites with her quirkiness and loving heart and to finally have her story told along with the love of her life Mia, was wonderful and funny all in one. I really enjoyed the characters in the Music of the Soul books and hope there will be more to come. Thanks again Erik for a job well done.
I loved Lightning Strikes Twice. I love the Music of the Soul series. I don’t want to give anything away. This is the story of Mia Jacobs and Victoria Davenport. So moving. So sweet.
Her eyes went wide and she said softly, with awe tingling her voice, "There it is again. that defeaning whisper."
*cues crying*
Now, don't judge me if I jumped to Lightning Strikes Twice already, skipping the rest of the series. You could't really blame me, after that ending of A Defeaning Whisper.
Lightning Strikes Twice is a feel-good story after that bitch named "A Defeaning Whisper". This book melted my heart with such a happy ending that our two favorite characters deserved. It was a gem to see Vicky grow and still be the same hyper-active blonde we met 20 years ago with all those ramblings and "I'd make an awesome _!" And all those moments where it was mentioned that Abbey looks exactly like Vee, my heart still break for Vee. And I think there's a little of Vicky in all of us, I mean it's impossible not to fall in love with Vee and Mia.
I seriously took a breath after reading that one, and stopped reading for good 5 minutes because I can't resist the epilogue longer than that.
My only complain was it was too short, and as a result, when I got into the middle of the book, I started reading Karaoke Queen, just to prolong the reading of LST, i just didn't want this to end too soon. Dearest author, I still want to know the real deal with Missy. A short story maybe? :-)
Plus! +Samantha was Skylar and Kimi's daughter!!! +Oh yeah, Satin Thunder is in the house! +Hurray for Mrs. Z! +June's Eight? Now, I am curious! I guess I should've read this series in order but who cares. +Interaction with Mckenzie Meyers? She's one of the heroines in one of the books, right...I guess I should've read this series in order but who cares. +Roberta Valentine was mentioned, yay for Silent Bob! Again, I guess I should've read this series in order but again, who cares. +Robin Hartford was also mentioned, she's also a main characters in one of the books, right...what I said ^ +Eve Rand, Mandy's niece? Will she have her own story?
I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
I really enjoyed this quick read. It was very heartfelt and I enjoyed the eccentricities of each character. Despite the story being fairly short, the author was able to give a pretty well rounded background and was thoughtful in how each character was developed.
The friendship that was between Vicky, Mia and Vee was the type of friendship that survives, despite distance, time and tragedy. Even after 20 years, their bond of friendship was so strong that the characters were trying to come to terms with how they defined their friendship before and how to allow their feelings to evolve.
I think my favorite character was Missy. I would love to see a story about her. I also enjoyed the relationship that Vicky had with Abbey, her god daughter. It was nice to have a balance group of characters - family, friends and friends who have become family. I don't really know if the "famous" characters really added to the story - I believe they would have been just as strong had they been "unknown" too. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, even if it was somewhat predictable.
Just got the Audible version and I am happy as can be that these stories are coming out on Audible. The Music of he Soul series is one of my favorite reads. Well all of Mr. Schubach's books have been favorites to be honest. I have read all of them more than once and I will continue to do so for years to come.
Was not disappointed, I love all of his books and the fact that they all are connected in a way is something that I love. I thought this books was so romantic and I', so happy that Vicky and Mia got together even though I loved her with Vee, it was nice that they got together in the end.
At last... This book essentially is part three in the Mia Jacobs saga. I lovely story that fills the loss of the first book. Cute and frustrating as you can't wait for the women to just admit their feelings. As I have said in other reviews I am looking forward to the Audible version.
loved this book. the beginning took to long but that's just because I wanted to get to the part where they meet again. second favorite book by this author so far. :)
This book is the kind of story where after reading, it makes you feel warm. I love Vicky and Mia, and watching the journey they find their way to each other.
no matter the age we all run in some form. have that one thing that we can not let go. this book showed this brilliantly you write wonderfully. great read. love all so far in your series.
Bringing together two long lost loves, bringing for the angst and fear of their separation. The morality or at least wisdom of getting involved when your not sure if its the right thing to do.
