Lost To Me

Rate this book
Lauren Kelling’s prom night is a memory she’ll never forget—in her nightmares. She had the dress, the hair, and romantic first time plans with her boyfriend, Kolton Seidel. But what should have been the best night of her life bleeds into terror when she’s brutally attacked. Now, Lauren relives the events leading up to prom, unraveling the clues that should have warned her of the trauma to come. Like Kolton ’s malicious ex-girlfriend, who’ll do anything to rip them apart. Or Kolton’s mentally unstable brother. After the tragedy, Lauren wants to hide, disfigured inside and out, while Kolton drowns in a sea of guilt. Only together can the two of them lay rest to the past and heal each other, through a love too strong to break.

Just wasn't my thing. I found it boring and EXTREMELY young. Some of the conflicts were very juvenile and then there was Kyle with a serious illness. Something about the immaturity of the characters and petty problems didn't correlate with such a grown up issue.

This was a really good book. I hoped it would be a little longer but it was still really great to read. Lauren Kelling is 17 years old and she has a strawberry colored birthmark on her face that makes her feel uncomfortable. During spring break of her senior year, she's at the beach that her family owns a house at and comes face to face with a boy she was friends with when she was younger until they didn't see each other anymore. Kolton's a senior as well and he remembers Lauren and he feels an immense pull toward her. His life isn't that great. His father finally left their family about 6 months ago and while he was around - he was an alcoholic and he sometimes hit his wife. Kolton's older brother Kyle is a Paranoid Schizophrenic. His mother can't afford much and she has lots of stress due to worry about money and her son. Also, Kolton's ex-girlfriend won't get it in her head that he doesn't love her or want to be with her. She does things that will make her happy, she doesn't care who she hurts or uses to get what she wants. She uses Kyle to get her way.

Lauren is a really great girl. She worries too much about her birthmark on her face but she's really good inside. She is a photographer, she loves to see things through a camera.

Kolton is a really great guy that has so much family drama and responsibility dumped on him. He wants to be with Lauren and just worries that everything he touches turns to shit. His family and friends are doing everything they can to ruin his relationship with Lauren.

Kyle has a mental illness and he cared about someone that used him for her own gain. His Schizophrenia helped in this matter and he didn't take his medicines and do the right thing like he should.

This book is definitely worth reading.

I read this as part of the dirty boys of summer book. I did like this book. The story was very young love and sweet. Do not think it belonged in the dirty boys of summer at all as they never get dirty. I did however enjoy this book but would have like to actually had the fist time written in the book as that seemed to be what the whole book focused on, then they just miss it out altogether. Such a shame.

Heart wrenching, fantastic read. It begins with typical teen angst: a crazy ex, an overly important physical flaw. Told from a dual POV, you ride along with these characters as they mature towards graduation and the trials of real life outside of school. Wonderfully written with a HEA, I enjoyed getting to know these characters and found it hard to put down.

Well written and I loved the ending, but I just couldn't get sucked in for some reason, I was easily able to stop where I was mid chapter and read another novella and couldn't wait to be done with it.. So while this one definitely isn't on my re-read in the future list, it was compelling enough for me to finish rather than put down mid-book...

What an incredible story this was. That first love when you're a teenager, growing up, that intense attraction, the huge butterflies, just everything. This captures it all. And then some. From beginning to end I laughed and cried, my heart hurt at some points and my head shook from the teenage angst, the drama. Amazing read

I'm sorry but this book was just way too young for me. Too young writing wise, character wise and story wise. It certainly had some good potential, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
