Joe har fått en mystisk amulett som gör honom till De odöda djurens beskyddare. I den här boken (tredje fristående i serien) är Joe på ett äventyrsläger tillsammans med ett gäng andra barn. De berättar en historia om en spökvarg och plötsligt hörs ylanden i natten. Men det visar sig vara en zombiehund som Joe måste hjälpa. Han kan inte få ro förrän hans ägare, Joes rektor, slutar ha dåligt samvete över hans död och skaffar sig en ny hund.
Som vanligt i denna serie är det lättsam, smårolig läsning med svartvita bilder.

Återigen en spännande berättelse. Rolig och det händer något alltid. Joe är på läger med klassen när rektorns gamla döda hund kommer för Joes hjälp.

Summary: Joe Edmunds made a wish on an Egyptian amulet that made him that Protector of the Undead pets. His job: to help undead pets with their problems in order to get them to cross into the afterlife. While on a school camping trip he is visited by a stinky zombie dog Dexter. Dexter just so happens to be the dead pet of the principle Mr. Hill. Dexter needs Joe to show Mr. Hill that Dexter's death wasn't his fault. In order to do that, Joe must break rules, get lost, and get into trouble in order for Mr. Hill to find a new puppy who will take his guilt away.
