Being Nobody

Rate this book
Samantha Connelly has been on the run since she was seven years old. Forced into Witness Protection after her father saw something he shouldn’t has caused her to learn to blend in. She’s moved, changed her name, and her appearance more times than she can count over the last nineteen years all along wondering if it will ever end. Her handler, Kevin, along with her parents have assured her that it won’t be forever, but as the years tick by she’s slowly given up hope that she’ll ever be normal.

Now at 26, Sam has moved to Chicago and is working at the Rusty Nail as a bartender calling herself Mallory. Her father passed away two years before leaving her to finish what he started…put away the ‘bad guys’. Living on the run in hiding has been harder than she ever imagined, and finding love has always been out of the question. Who would want to be with someone they couldn’t be honest with? She’s resigned herself to being alone, until… Brian walks in.

Brian Sellers is everything Sam has been trying to avoid her entire life. He’s clad in leather and torn jeans, donning several tattoos… all-in-all a bad boy. When their eyes connect one evening, everything she’s ever told herself falls to the wayside as an indescribable draw pulls her to him. He’s sexy and domineering, and something about him reminds her of a boy she used to know.

The more time she spends with Brian, the more she wants him, but…Brian is not everything he seems to be. When Sam happens to see the tat on his wrist, the same tat that her father saw all those years ago, she realizes she’s flirting with the enemy. Brian has no idea that he’s hanging out with the one girl his boss wants dead.

Can Sam hide her identity from the first man she’s had real feelings for? What will Brian do when he finds out who she really is? Can love really conquer all?

I have mixed feeling about this book, so many things about it that I loved and didn’t love.
In the beginning we find out that Sam has been placed into the witness protection program at a young age when her father witnessed a murder. She has never been in one home for long, once the people that are looking for her father have found him they would be moved once again. Now being 26 years old still on the run from the people wanting to kill her father. The only problem now is her father died a few years back, so now it’s only her and her mother still in hiding. She works in a bar near her apartment that she has alone without her mom. While working in the bar one day a young man that catches her interest comes into the bar. They seem to have that instant connection. The biggest problem is he works for the people that have been after her father her whole life. So now Sam has to figure out if she wants to try and have a relationship with someone that she finally has feelings for and risk being caught and have to leave again.

This story has so much potential, I feel like the author could have built up the story more than she did. The book is really short and seems to only get really interesting at the end. The relationship between Mallory aka Sam and Brian is almost unrealistic, its as if one moment they are flirting and the next they are madly in love. Also there was more sex in the book than an actual story line, maybe there should have been more of a plot.
I do love the story and what it could have been, hopefully the second book will be better. The last chapter I think should have been the plot twist and not the ending, hopefully i’ll get that in the second book.

OMG! This book was a great read. I enjoyed the interaction between Mallory and Brian and look forward to their continuing story. There's not too much I feel I can say without giving away the ending but what a twist. I ant wait for the next book.

Heather D'Agostino weaves a story so amazing in book one of her new Witness Series, Being Nobody, that you will be captivated by the very first page and the intrigue will keep you turning each additional page with such anticipation that you will not be able to put it down! A book like none other that I have read, the reader is presented with the topic of the life in witness protection, and what it means for a person to constantly have to reinvent who there are in order to stay alive. This was a 4 star read for me and I will wait with baited breath for the next book to be released because I am dying to know what will come of Sam's future.

"Sam, Emily, Jessica, Susan, Mallory and all the other girls I'd been in my life would have never gone off with someone like this. I was tired of being nobody. I wanted to be somebody and I wanted to be somebody with Brian."

After her father becomes the only surviving witness to a crime when she was just seven years old, Sam is thrown into a life of witness protection with her parents so ensure that they stayed alive while the guilty parties were found and brought to justice. Always having to live a lie and leave at the drop of a hat was difficult for a young girl growing up, never getting close to anyone, never having friends and knowing that you could never let anyone get close enough to learn about who you really were. Sam, who now goes by Mallory, is living on her own in Chicago, just minutes away from her mother, where she works as a bartender. Not being able to attend college because she was never in one place long enough to attend school, she doesn't have many choices for a career and she yearns for something more in her life. Mallory seems to get her wish to have someone to love when she meets Brian at the bar where she works and he came in as a patron.

Sam only loved one other person in her life when she was seventeen years old and living in New York as Emily. She always felt that Devlin could see through her, see through the lies to the person that she really was, see that she was more than the facade that she always had to maintain. Her heart was broken when circumstances forced her to relocate yet again and she had to leave Devlin without so much as a goodbye. Thinking of him throughout the years, Sam made sure that any interactions that she had with the opposite sex were simple, and only for sex, no relationships were allowed, because with relationships came questions and a trust that she couldn't afford to have. That is until Brian took a seat at the bar one night.

Sam was drawn to a familiarity with Brian and she immediately wanted to trust him. The chemistry between them was palpable and after spending the day with him she discovered her worst nightmare. His wrist bore the tattoo of the criminals that had put her family in witness protection in the first place. Knowing that she needed to walk away from him but not knowing how to, Sam slowly began to let Brian in and she learned to trust him, even though she knew he was hiding secrets of his own that he refused to talk about. After realizing that she is in love with him and not wanting to walk away, she turns her back on her mother and chooses a life with Brian instead. It is only when he discovers her box of identities that she actually fears for her life and calls her handler to be relocated, and it is then when everything she thought she knew and everything that she believed changed in an instant. The ending of this book had me gasping in shock and cheering at the same time, making me wish that the next book was available for me to read right now! You NEED to run to get this book, you will be far from disappointed!

"I wasn't nobody any more. Brian had finally made me somebody. I was somebody to someone, and it felt better than I could have ever imagined."

Loved, Loved, Loved this book! Sam's father saw a crime many years ago and the entire family was forced into witness protection. For many years Sam was other people for the family had to constantly move and change their identities. The story leads us to Sam (now Mallory) working in a bar and trying to make ends meet. Unfortunately for her, she can never stay in one place for too long. When she finally thought she was safe and able to stay where she is, she meets Brian. Brian looks like a bad boy...and she is right. Brian reminds her of a lost love and sparks fly early..but soon Sam realizes that Brian is extremely dangerous and hiding many secrets. A tattoo on his wrist brings Sam to the reality that life can never be normal and she fears for her life again. Is Brian a danger to her, or can he protect her and giver her the life she deserves. This is a cliffhanger so be prepared to wait for the HEA. I loved the mystery and suspense and of course the sparks between Sam and Brian. You will not be disappointed!

Being Nobody started off great. Ms. D’Agostino does an excellent job of setting up Sam/Mallory’s story. I felt both sadness at the loss of her childhood and adolescence – so many friends lost, so many opportunities missed, and so much time gone – and awe for her strength as she continues to survive and live her life as best as the circumstances allow. And living on the run in the Witness Protection plan didn’t lend itself to the best of circumstances.

When we meet Sam she is living as Mallory. She is snarky, confident, a bit of a smarta$$ – everything I like in a heroine. Her interactions with her coworkers and the bar patrons felt real and I was sucked right into her story. I loved the dance she and Brian played on the first night they met – their banter was entertaining, yet she maintained the distance her WP identity required. The pace of the book was great and the storyline was moving fluidly … until they had sex. Mind you the sex was hot, but it supposedly so intense that her entire existence shifted on its axis and she found herself falling for Brian – not drawn to him, not infatuated, not lust, but falling in love with him after knowing him for only a couple of days. I so totally got that she was initially drawn to him because he reminded her of the only guy she ever loved, but to be so far gone after one night of sex made no sense. Add to that her getting mad at him for keeping secrets about his “job” after saying she understood and her constant back and forth on that subject made me dizzy especially as her WP status made her the Queen of Secrets (pot meet kettle). As for the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back, for me it was when she recognized Brian’s tattoo as belonging to the gang that was after her and her mom, yet she decided to stay with him and not only not report it to her handler, but willingly walked away from her mother forever because she wanted to see where things were going and if she could convince Brian to get out – at that point I couldn’t decide if she was stupid or delusional.

Even though I loved the beginning of Being Nobody and found Ms. D’Agostino’s writing style to be quite enjoyable, I just couldn’t get past Sam/Mallory’s seemingly never-ending bad choices. As the story progressed I found that connection I had with her character diminished until I was no longer invested in what happened to her and the book went from being a great read to just okay. Ultimately I didn’t like being in her head after the first sexual encounter because she just kept contradicting herself. Sadly I don’t think I can deal with Sam’s back and forth, so it is doubtful that I will read the next book in the series. As always, I recommend you check the book out for yourself because you may not find Sam as disconcerting as I did. Ms. D’Agostino’s talent is obvious, but this just wasn’t the book for me.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Being nobody ( The Witness Series #1)

I have never read any book by Heather D ' Agostino before. I didn't know anything about her writing style or what her stories are like. However the blurb sounded really interesting and so I thought I'd give a new Suthor a chance.
I absolutely loved this book. I devoured this book from start to finish in one sitting, I just couldn't get enough. The authors writing style was very good. She bought me in to the book and I felt she took me on the journey with her and the characters.
Sam in witness protection. When she was younger her father witnessed a crime. Nobody survived the crime, except Sams dad managed to hide. Since then they have been after him and his family. This means Sam spent her live moving around constantly, changing her name, and making sure she never gets close to anybody. She has no control really over the way she lives her life, but there are limits she can push slightly so she can have a little bit of fun now and again.
Years later, Sam is now older and is now known as Mallory. She is working in a bar , her fathers passed away and she's lonely. She is left to be on the run by herself and it's very hard. Your heart goes out to her. She's struggling to make the best of a bad situation. She can't trust anyone and her fathers now gone, she's lost and lonely. She can never find love, never find friends, because she can't trust anyone.
Brian Sellers is the bad boy of all bad boys. Considering she's been running for years, falling for a the bad boy, with all the yummy tattoos and delicious leather, just really wasn't her best choice. But some how they have a connection. She finds that he reminds her of some one from when she was younger, he's sexy and domineering....exactly what she wants when she's been so lonely her whole life.
The trouble is Brian isn't all he seems.....a tattoo gives away his true identity. Does he know who she really is or is their a real connection between them?
I really enjoyed the story. It was slightly different to your usual MC books and I was engaged throughout. There were a few instances that frustrated me and answers I wanted, but I guess that's the whole point of it being book1. The book left me wanting so much more. I wanted answers now.
The one thing I couldn't understand though is, after all these years on the run, and you find out he's one of the people your running from for all those years...why did she not run once you knew who he reallywas ? Despite the connection between them, in my eyes...if he was one of the people who killed my family and made me live the life I had to for years upon years....I'd be running. You couldn't trust he wasn't playing you. That part of the book realy confused me and seem very unrealistic compared to the rest of the story.
I did really enjoy the book over all. I can't wait until part 2 to see where the author is going to take the story and their relationship.

Kim - Author Groupies 4.5 Stars
Looking forward too book 2.....hopefully very very soon after the way it ended. Lol

Being Nobody is the first book in the romantic suspense series entitled Witness by author H. D'Agostino. This had a premise that caught my attention because it was one that I can't recall I had ever come across before--a woman who has spent nearly two decades of her life in witness protection due to a crime her father witnessed falls in love with a man and contemplates risking her safety to be with him. Samantha Connelly is now twenty-six and she's changed her name countless times, a pre-requisite each time she and her parents were forced to move to another location. She's lost hope that she'll ever be able to go back to just being Sam, but when she meets a man named Brian Sellers, who for all intents and purposes, could bring a lot of trouble Sam's way due to his "job", she quickly falls in love and wants to start a life with him.

Sam has no choice but to keep her identity and circumstances from Brian. She's kept secrets before, but only once did she ever contemplate not moving when told by their handler, and that was when she had fallen in love at seventeen. Now, she's falling in love again, and now that she's older, she believes she's more than ready to run the risk of being found by those after her family for the sake of being with Brian. But Brian, too, has his own cache of secrets, and these secrets are just as explosive as Sam's. Sam may love Brian, but could she love the man behind the facade? On the other hand, Brian is in love with Sam, but will he still love her after he learns who she is and what she's been hiding? The story is all about trying to be nobody when all you really want is for that one person to see you--a somebody--for the you you truly are.

The story isn't too long, but there were moments that I felt it dragged a bit. I had a feeling I knew who Brian really was early on, simply because their instincts both gave them that inkling of recognition. While there is that supposedly immediate connection between Sam and Brian, it was difficult to fully embrace the idea that they had fallen in love as quickly as they did, even with the hidden history between them. It's difficult for me to get into it without giving away spoilers, but let's just say that I wanted more from a particular time in Sam's past so as to provide a more plausible foundation for a more intense romance. Even though I already had the sequel waiting for me, the cliffhanger ending floored me, but I'll get into that in my review for the second book. Being Nobody had potential but it missed out a tad, so three stars. ♥

I was lucky to beta read this for the author and offer an honest review.

I fell in love with this author reading her Shattered Series. I love that dynamics she builds with her characters. I love that she can weave a story and get you completely and utterly hooked and then *BOOM* lowers the bomb and leaves you screaming at her….yup that is what I did! I emailed her and was all shouty capsing her about this book!! I will say that she DID give me a spoiler for the next book because I MAY or MAY NOT(not denying or confirming) have threatened her with bodily injury!! LOL

So this book is a new venture for our author. She is stepping outside of her comfort zone and is writing a new series/genera. I will even say that the sex was a little bit hotter in this book too!!! *wink* Mallory aka Sam is hiding from the drug dealers who her dad testified against. The family went into the Witness Protection until the bad guys could be found. Well our Mallory has lived several lives and has had multiple personalities because the bad guys keep catching up with her family. Well her new cover is Mallory, bar tender in a locals only kinda bar. Well a hottie biker strolls in and Mallory is allll for the one night stands. She fell in love once and due to her family and their predicament, she had to leave this love of her life. Sooo no attachments, just sex is her motto. Well our hottie biker is kinda involved in bad stuff. Mallory learns that he is involved with THE BAD GUYS she is running from……yikes!!!

Our girls is freaking out. If she tells the Witness people, she will be jet setted off to another life in less than 24 hours. But she is starting to fall for our tall, dark, drink of water biker with a heart of gold. Brian is everything you could want in a boyfriend…well except for working for drug dealers that is!! LOL

The story is so solid and woven together then when we the reader start to put the pieces together it is to late….The author drops the boom and leaves us SCREAMING!!!!!

I will say, if you like a little spicy/naught fun, some suspense, hot biker, sassy female character, then this is a jackpot for you the reader!! But be warned, you will be SCREAMING at the author and you may or may not *wink* want to email her with death threats too 

Being Nobody by Heather D'Agostino is the first book in her Witness series.

A man walks into a bar... Sounds like the beginnings of a joke right? Well, it kinda is, just not the funny kind. Samantha has been in witness protection since the age of seven. Her father witnessed a crime and ever since her family has been in hiding. They always have to leave causing her to be wary of getting close to people, she can never truly be herself, and is not even sure who "herself" is anyway. She made the mistake of getting close once, in high school, to a boy named Devlin. She was hurt so badly when they's had to leave and assume new identities that she's been closed off ever since. Devlin knew who she was in her soul but even he didn't know her real name.

Back to the part where a man walks into a bar...

I swallowed as I continued to stare. I couldn't figure it out, but I felt like I knew him. His hair was slightly darker than I remembered. His shoulders broader, and his physique more muscular, but he looked just like someone I used to know...Someone I used to love.~ Mallory

So she's living under an assumed name, her father has passed away and it's just her and her mom now, and they are still in witness protection. They are living separately and Mallory is working at a bar called the Rusty Nail. It's while working at the Rusty Nail that she meets Brian who she initially thought could have been Dev grown up. The brief reminder of her past love and the electricity that seems to spark between her and Brian causes them to get to know each other better. What Mallory starts to learn though is that Brian could be very dangerous to her safety...

My eyes darted around the room searching for anything that would clue me in on what happened, and that's when I noticed the open drawer. There, on the floor, was my box...the box that held my past, the box that told my secrets, the box that Brian had found.~ Mallory

I absolutely loved Being Nobody. The title is perfect for the events happening in the book. A young girl's life changes after one night her father witnesses a horrific event. In one day, being Sam changes into "Being Nobody". She can't go by her old name. The family is constantly on the move, having to change names and appearances at the drop of the dime. As I read the story it became quite suspenseful. And at the climax, we will be continuing onto the next story. No worries, the next book is coming soon.

During Sam's travels she meets people, but constantly has to leave them. The hardest was losing Devlin. She wanted to believe that she could come back to him someday. That was just a dream though. Life for Sam will never be normal in her eyes. Running has become her occupation. The only person that knows who she is are her parents and her handler, Kevin. When Kevin says move, Sam has little time but to pack a bag and leave. Not a happy life for a growing child.

Sam is now working in a bar. Life is status quo. She has a couple friends, and has moved out of her mom's house. Than she meets Brian. Brian brings her to feeling like life could be normal, but she can never reveal who she truly is. Getting closer to Brian though could be dangerous.

I really liked Brian. No matter who he was around he truly tried to protect Sam. The protection sometimes cost him a lot. There are secrets her is hiding. I just knew it. And let me tell you that part of the story is so explosive. It had me on the edge of my seat, and I wanted to scream for the good guys to prevail. Reading Being Nobody was like watching a action movie. I was glued to the words in the book. My heart rate increased as the story line came to a climax. And my heart than shattered for a young woman who was literally about ready to go over the edge. Now, I am in a book hangover with a craving to see what is going to happen with Sam. The next story, Being Somebody, is going to be tantalizing. Buckle up, ladies and gents, you will never expect what is to become of Sam and Brian.

If you crave a adrenaline seeking thrill mixed in with romance than I highly recommend Being Nobody. Keep tuned in for more word on Being Somebody.

5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this book! This book was full of drama, angst, suspense steam, twists, turns, and one hell of an ending that you won't see coming. This book was an amazing story and it kept twisting... every time you figured something out then BAM! Plot twist. This book was grip the edge of your seat and flip the pages as fast as you can good! Get ready for one hell of a ride!

This is Mallory and Brian's story. Mallory has been on the run and in witness protection for most of her life. After her father witnesses something horrible, their lives are forever changed. Years later, tons of moves later, and several name changes, Mallory aka "Sam" is living in the moment. When she meets Brian, she feels a connection to him but knows it s not possible because she never knows when she has to disappear. But he breaks down her walls and she breaks her rules for him. But Brian has secrets... big ones that could destroy everything and possibly endanger her life. Mallory has to make a decision... run or take a chance. Will Mallory and Brian be able to find a future together? Will Mallory's past catch up to her before its too late? What secrets is Brian hiding? Will Mallory run or take a chance on Brian?

I loved Brian. Right from the beginning he was a BIG mystery that slowly unraveled, revealing pieces of him. Once we put it all together, SWOON! And Mallory, I totally empathized with her. I couldn't imagine having a great life to nothing, on the run, constantly looking over your shoulder. it was so good to see Brian penetrate those walls and bring "Sam" back to life. I can't wait for more of these two!

And the ending... WTF! Cliffhanger ending! I pretty much figured out the two main secrets or at least suspected for the end so yeah... I cannot wait for the next book due out next Spring!

I highly recommend this book!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book in the Witness series. I have to say I never was one to like cliff hangers but H. D’Agostino can write them like no tomorrow and I do enjoy them when she does it. Her Shattered series wrecked me thank goodness I waited tell the series was done before reading it. She has a way of taking a story making you think things are going great then throwing in a twist here and there and then she lets the bomb drop and you sit there thinking WAIT!! What just happened? NO NO NO!!!

Mallory James, well at least that is what it is for now, is in the witness protection program and has been since the age of 7. You see her father witnessed a murder and the family was put into the program. She opened her heart up once only to have it broken when they had to go on the run. She decided that would never happen again only sex from now on her heart would never be involved. Funny thing about the heart it doesn’t always listen to your brain especially when we are talking about a HOTTIE named Brian. Talk about falling for the wrong bad boy when she realizes that he is involved with the gang that she is being protected from.

Now Mallory has to decide does she tell her handler who Brian is risking being taken away from him and having her heart broke again or does she keep quiet and hope Brian and the gang doesn’t figure out who she is.

This book had twist and suspense it kept me turning the pages and I did not want to put it down. Then came the end where it literally said “THE END” I gasped. NO this cannot be the end I turned the page thinking there would be more nope, that’s right H. D’Agostino wrote this I have to pick up the second book. My recommendation is to go now ONE CLICK Becoming Nobody read it and then hurry ONE CLICK Becoming Somebody because you will want it.

“I was tired of being nobody. I wanted to be somebody and I wanted to be somebody to Brian.”

I found this book and author by word of mouth and the actual author's suggestion on the Facebook page for a book event that is coming to Charlotte, NC in August. I am super excited about this event, but I realized I had not read of any of the authors. So I posted on the page asking for suggestions and Heather responded! I found her book on sale on Amazon, purchased it and quickly became engrossed in the unfolding story.

**As a little aside there are some scenes in this book, but not the review, that is for mature audiences:)-**

If you have read my reviews, you know I do not always enjoy the series approach to books because if it is a good book you get to the cliffhanger and are like no..just no..when will I get an answer! Well, this book has that cliffhanger, but it is done in a way that the immediate story has been concluded and questions answered, so I actually enjoyed that this is a series and not just told in one lump go of it. For those that still do not like series, I am not sure how many will be in this series, but book two came out today!

Heather is an excellent story teller and her writing style is very captivating. I felt like I was getting to know the characters and could appreciate the secrets being kept, the emotional turmoil over not being honest with individuals, wanting to have a different life, feeling the pain of decisions and lost love, etc. While I correctly surmised some of the twists there were also quite a few that was like..well color me surprised I didn't see that one coming and I loved that! Heather has a talent and skill set that kept me captivated with the story, characters and situation. I have already purchased book two in this series and cannot wait to start reading it this week!

I have read previous books of Heather D'Agostino so I was excited to have the chance to read this brand new book.
Sam/Mallory is a woman who doesn't take chances. Being in the Witness Protection Program she doesn't have the option to live her life the "normal" way. She has fun, but there are limits and she has to remain very careful with what she shares and whom she shares it with.
Brian changes all of that. Events occur and while the normal, sane reaction would be to run from the danger he presents, Mallory finds herself unable and unwilling to walk away from him.
There were instances in the book that I just wanted to shake them both in frustration, however, I don't look as that as a bad thing.
I was involved in the story, I flipped pages furiously, searching for a solution to the problems presented in the book.
As I turned the last page, I was once again frustrated, but only because I wanted more. I needed to know more and I'm not a patient woman. I like instant gratification and I'll have to wait.
Those are the bones of a good story in my opinion. To have a book you can get lost in and characters that involve you, even if it's by frustrating you or pissing you off. It means the author has done their job.
Sex scenes were HOT with a capital "H."
Brian is the bad boy, alpha that women can't help but want, even when they know they should RUN the other way.
Mal is the damaged, by events out of her control, woman who just wants to have her happy ending.
Together... these two are page turners.
I am anxiously awaiting the continuation of their saga.
4.25 stars!

Being Nobody by Heather D'Agostino

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

When Samantha was only a girl, her father witnessed a crime. The people who committed the crime didn't intend to leave an survivors, but Sam's father was able to hide, except that they were now after him and his family. For years Samantha and her family lived in protection, moving from town to town changing their name and never attaching themselves to anyone or anything. Years later, Sam is now going by the name Mallory and tends bar at a local dive bar, in walks Brian, sexy, mysterious and desperate for Mallory's attention, but he could be on the wrong side.

I get the premise here, Samantha/Mallory is on the run, and can't get attached to anyone. Brian is the sexy biker/bad boy. It started out fine, but I didn't think the story was executed properly. I needed more character development, lack there of led me to not really grow attached to either main character and therefore I had a harder time following with their fast paced relationship, it was somewhat flat for me. The story really began to kick up at the end and the cliffhanger will really get you wondering where the story will go next, so I am curious to see where it will go, but since the two main characters already have an established relationship, I am not sure how much you could build on there. Brian is not who or what we thought he was, and because of that, there may be some more potential here and could build upon the story line.

Sam's father saw a crime when she was 7 years old and he was the only survivor. They had to put him and the family in the witness protection program to protect them. The bad guys are after the family since Sam's father would be able to put him away in jail. Over the years Sam and her family have had to pick up and move and change identities more times than Sam can remember. Once when Sam was 17 she got close to somebody but ended up having to leave in the middle of the night. She hasn't gotten over Devlin and has refused to let anybody get close to her again. Now Sam is 26 and goes by Mallory. She is a bartender when a hot guy enters the bar. Brian has the bad boy image but Sam thinks there is more to him. They start seeing each other and then Sam sees he has a tattoo on his wrist that matches the one of one of the bad guys that are after her family. Sam wants to trust Brian but does not know if he finds out who she is if he will turn her over to the people he works for.

This was a good read. It pulls you in right away. People changing identities and running from bad people are usually interesting. This book has a fast pace to it so is a quick read. The characters are good. I would have liked a little more meat to the story though. The story is great but definitely had the opportunity to have a lot more depth to it. I'm looking forward to the second book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance.

'Mallory' has been living a constantly changing life since she was 7 years old and her dad witnessed a heinous crime, forcing them into the Witness Protection Program. Never staying anywhere for very long, she has no idea who or where she will be from one day to the next, living in fear that they will be discovered again. 'Mallory' so desperately wants to live a normal life and for the moment she has a job in a bar. When Brian enters her bar, he seems the perfect way to live normally, except for the fact that he is everything she has been trying to avoid in a man. But it could all come crashing down around her when she spots a tat that links him to the reason she is in the Witness Protection Program. Can she stay away from him or will he bring her down?

A highly suspenseful read as you are kept guessing as to what will happen. 'Mallory's' attitude towards Brian knowing that he could potentially lead her to her death was a little puzzling, almost as if the questions she asked were tokenistic as she always gave up really easily. And equally at times Brian knew the risks of getting involved but seemed willing to put her at risk. However, once you get the full picture, you can understand their behaviour a little better. There are plenty of surprises and typically, nothing is as it seems. I came away though desperately wanting more and wanting to find out what happens next for Brian and 'Mallory'.

This story had my attention from the get go. Mallory has grown up always being someone different. Mallory isn't even her real name. She is part of witness protection and has been since she was a young child. Her father was witness to a crime and put away some guys that are part of a crime ring. However he did t get them all and thus her ever changing identity.

Mallory is now an adult. She is tired of hiding and not having any roots. She is lonely even though she has friends. Then comes Brian. He walks into the bar where she works and the two connect. They form a tight relationship, but a shaky one at that. They are both hiding secrets.

This story is pretty face paced. The author did an excellent job at giving enough background into Mallory's situation to really grasp and understand her as a character. It was super easy to connect with her. Brian is swoon worthy himself. I love a guy with rough edges, and he has them in spades. Yet, he can also be so tender and sweet.

Being Nobody was a quick read for me. It's a great start to the series. I can't wait to read book two and find out what happens with Mallory and Brian. This is one of those books that is perfect for curling up with a glass of wine and just getting lost.

Being Nobody is a great start to the The Witness Series.

Samantha is in the witness protection program because her father witnessed a grime by a very bad gang. She has moved around a lot. Currently she goes by the name Mallory. I loved Sam/ Mallory. She's a very loveable character. She was thrown onto the witness protection program because of her father and had to leave behind her first love Delvin. Because of the constant moving and name changing she feels like nobody.

She meets Brian at the bar she works at. Brian reminds her of Delvin. He oozes sexiness and had some bad boy in him. Mallory is attracted to him. Brian pursues her, I liked that she made it difficult for him. She finally gives in and it seems like they have a great relationship.

There relationship won't be easy. Brian is involved in the crime ring that Mallory's family is hiding from. Both Brian and Mallory are keeping secrets from each other. We know Mallory's secret right from the beginning. You have to keep guessing what Brian's secret is until towards the end of the book.

Being Nobody is book one of The Witness series, so yes it has a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next one.

I received this ARC for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed reading this book that I had a hard time putting it down. Sam's Father was a witness to a crime and the only survivor. They had to go in to hiding since Sam was seven years old. Same has been to several school and different city and parts of the U.S.A. Sam was in New York for about a year She meet Devlin and fell in love,But soon as thinks were going well Sam and her family had to leave again. Never seeing Devlin again. Now she is 26 years old and some where new. Sam has been there for about 4 months, When walks in the good looking biker, but when she sees him all the feelings she had for Devlin come rushing back. Brian introduces himself to Sam at the bar where she works at. Sam keeps her guard up cause she knows, she will have to move again. Brian wants to get to know Sam cause she reminds him of his first love. Both Sam and Devlin have their guards up, they have secrets they can't tell each other. Things so to progress between them both. If you want to know more you really need to read the book. I can't wait for part two to come out

WTF, Mrs. D'Agostino!? I say, WTF!? Who does that!? You can't just build a girl up and then leave her hanging like that! Through which method would you like your beating? Oh! There's a book two, is there? Well, why didn't you say so?

Being nobody was... well, let's put it this way, shall we? I downloaded the book 2 days ago and finished it yesterday. If I hadn't been so busy converting source data, writing syntax and concatenating text strings, I would have surly finished within the day.

I love Mallory (Sam) and Brian. Even though I suspected what the twist would be, Heather still managed to squeeze the surprise out of me by planting another little bomb in the mix. Though, I usually stick to slightly less realistic stories (paranormal / fantasy), I was captured instantly upon opening the book. The characters are believable and relatable, the plot is intriguing and exciting, the relational development is as good as it is bad (and by bad, I mean good in a baaad way, i.e. the sex is HOT.)

If you want more, you've got to read it! As for me, I've got to go download Becoming Somebody before the violent thoughts begin to resurface!

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and kept me interested in the story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Mallory (Sam) and Brian’s story. Mallory is in witness protection. Her father saw a crime and already identified 2 of the 3 people involved. After years of moving around and changing her name multiple times she wonders if she will ever be able to stay in one place. When the bad guys show up right in the town she currently lives in she wonders if they tracked her down. Can she stay safe? Will she have to run again? What role does Brian play with the guys? Will he be friend or foe? Will she ever be able to trust a man?

I loved both Mallory and Brian. You can feel the chemistry between these two. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. Ended on a cliffy so have to wait until the spring for more of this story.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Wow .. keeping up with all the lies and half-truths has got to be exhausting for Sam. Or is it Emily, or Mallory now? Her father's misfortune of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and his need to do the right thing has sent her life into a never ending moving target where she must constantly live with awareness of all that is going on; yet she just wants to be normal. The moment she allows herself to think that she can grab even a moment of normalcy may be her undoing? Past regrets and current day mistakes has her running again, but will it be away from her past and into her future or will she always be stuck in the past? Brian brings a myriad of emotions and personalities to his interactions with both Mallory as well as the other characters. He's intense, domineering, hot as hell but can be soft and intimate as well. Both Mallory and Brian admit to having secrets that neither can share, but can they live with that .. will it be enough? I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next release in this series!
