After witnessing her friend’s sexual assault, seven-year senior Magdalena Wells escapes an attack with a few bruises and a thousand questions. As a journalist in practice, if not in pay, Mags vows to utilize the skills she mastered in the Democratic Republic of Congo and answer every single one—just as soon as she gets the hell out of town.
Law Pierce’s aim is rest and relaxation after two years undercover in South Africa on an extended Base Branch mission, but restlessness puts him in trouble’s path. As a servant of justice, Law will do everything in his power to keep trouble safe. The fact that trouble’s petite stature and luscious curves stir his every primal instinct is a massive inconvenience he struggles to ignore.
Together Magdalena and Law uncover a web of corruption and dirty lies that could set their country’s top official ablaze—if the inferno doesn’t consume them first.

Law is on edge and can't seen to work out the restlessness and the feeling of being unsatisfied. After helping to keep his best friend Baine from going too far in book 1, ENEMY MINE while trying to save the love of his life Law is still unsettled. He is still left with a sense of unease that he needs to work through. Enter Magdalena (Mags). After returning from working in Africa and walking in on her roommate's unreported assault Mags is determined to find out what exactly is going on.
As Mags digs deeper into the men who have assaulted her roommate and threatened her she finds that the web of corruption is much bigger than she imagined. Law is there to help protect her and as things get deeper and more dangerous, things between Law and Mags become more heated and complicated. While protecting and working with Mags Law now has a better appreciation for everything that Baine went through when trying to get Sloan back.
JUSTICE MINE is a fast paced and cleverly put together romantic suspense. Full of intrigue, romance, and despicable bad guys it's better than almost anything you will get on network television!
I dug right into this one right away because I found I really liked this author and her characters with her brand of storylines. She gives you main characters that have some real depth but also they have fellow characters that are just as fascinating but do not overshadow the main ones. In this one she focuses on Law who could turn the head of any woman but he is oblivious to that. His eyes have been on one whom he has avoided over time because in his heart he knew why. Seeing his friend and his fiance off- Baine and Sloan- he will have one last serious conversation with Baine before they come back for their wedding. Then enters in Magdalena whom has been gone herself but upon her return steps into some serious confrontation with a seedy character that has her friend and roommate in a dubious situation. This will send her running also because she has now become a target of big proportions into the arms of the one who has been avoiding her all this time-Law. Now once again this author starts the motor and revs it up to drive you steady along into awesome danger and intrigue. Also to my gleeful surprise I am finding I like this even more then the first one because it would seem the writing style has gotten even better. Cat and mouse games are fun to read which you get in this one. Also not wanting to endanger too many they utilize resources to work as a well running machine. She also learns there is more to Law and her brother than they have been letting on all this time which to her mind confirms some things. Being the journalist she is she is also great at digging and not a pansy she will be required to hold her own a time or two. The heat is also on with these two sending smoke alarms off whenever they come together. This one I found picked my interest more also I think because it was somewhat of a mystery too that had to be solved on why the target was put on her back in the first place. The relationship that builds between these two is also the kind that has the best base it is built on-love. Barriers that get melted away with the pieces left that fit together with these two will after the enemy sings soprano will come with symbol that speaks everlasting. Wonderful treat also of a delightful wedding with family humor in attendance. Received a arc for a honest review.
Romantic suspenses are tricky creatures. You have to have a great deal of romance but you also have to create a suspenseful and convincing enough plot that doesn't eclipse the romance and keeps the reader's attention. Like I said, tricky. But I'm two books into this series now and I think Mitcham totally gets how this is supposed to work and she keeps making it happen.
Though maybe not as exciting as Enemy Mine, I still liked the "suspense". I enjoyed the fact that you couldn't see which direction the danger was coming from into at least halfway in. That helped in creating a plot that kept me on edge. I was like "Argh! Who ARE these people?" You'll see what I mean if you read it.
I liked Law in Enemy Mine so I knew I would in this book too. He was great. He had a hard shell and a gooey center. In books like this, I think that's almost a requirement. Too much of either can ruin the story. But Law had a good balance and I really enjoyed reading about him.
Magdalena was a great female MC as well. I love filthy mouth heroines. They are just the best! Probably because I have a pretty filthy mouth myself. But I loved her snarky manner and how she refused to just blow off a friend who was clearly in trouble. Good friends are hard to find and Willow (the friend) kind of forgot that there for a moment. But who could blame her? Again, this is something you'll understand once you read the book.
The action factor received a thumbs up from me. How can you not love books where the men spend half their time kicking as much ass as possible? You can't go wrong with that ever.
All in all, I thought this book rocked as far as rom-suspense goes. I highly recommend you give this series a try. There's no doubt in my mind that Megan Mitcham has a true fan in me, and will in you too.
3.5 rating... Great suspense and action in book two... but, I think book one is still my favorite so far. There was just something special about that couple. :) In this one we have Mags who just returned from Africa after being gone for a year of study. She comes home to find a very different roommate than the one she left. She steps in to protect her and finds herself accidentally drawn into a situation that has put her life and those she cares about in danger. Law, a friend of the family, happens to be around at just the right moment and he steps up to help protect her and get to the bottom of why Mags is under constant attack. Being on the run together brings to the surface their attraction for one another and it doesn't take long for them to give into their desires. Law has a painful back story which also comes to the surface during their time together. I really liked his character. All male but not too alpha... a combination I really like. I did struggle with the British dialect a bit... I don't usually have trouble with this but for whatever reason I found myself needing to re-read sentences to figure out what was being said. But, other than that, this is a good romantic suspense!
So far I really like this series... so, I'll be heading into book three really soon...

Law is the kind of man that that when he loves he loves hard and when it comes to family and the ones he cares about he will do whatever to protect. Magdalena is a sassy spitfire that feels the same way, so when these two pair together to protect and fight for the ones they care about, sparks fly the only problem is they both are stubborn and to proud to act on their feelings. will the realize that they need each other. I gave this book a 5 star rating it had great characters and action, love . if you liked Enemy of Mine (which I recommend to read first ), then you will enjoy this book.
Law and Mags story is really good too. Thought the stories couldnt get better but it did with this book. Really enjoy reading about a strong women character and not just the alpha male all the time. they worked together and had a great ending
This book was fine, but I don’t think that this author’s writing style is for me.
Law and Magdalena were fine, but their relationship development wasn’t really shown. It felt like they knew each other one minute and something was developing, and then in the next scene it was as if their relationship was back at square one.
The plot was a bit boring as not much was shown and even though there was sort of a mystery around it, there was nothing for you to wonder about because nothing was really explained.
There were some side characters, but I thought that they weren’t shown enough either.
I didn’t really like the way this book was written because I thought that it was confusing at times, especially at the beginning. When a new chapter started, sometimes it seemed like it had not relation to the previous one, or that it was a flashback, until you read a few pages into it.
I don’t think that I’m going to continue with this series as I’m just not interested enough to continue. Also, I’m not sure if I’ll want to read other books by this author as it’s the writing style that bothers me.
Law an Magdalena are thrown together when Magdalena was at one of her lowest points. Together, they weather an action-packed, suspenseful series of events as they try to fight to stay alive. It may be insta-lust, but I loved the quickly growing feelings between them, and there's no mistaking that the feelings they had for each other were strong. I also loved the action - it was riveting, and the story kept me glued to the second book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Typically when I read a series, I like the first book I read best – Cristin Harber’s Titan books? SAVAGE SECRETS was book one for me, and I’m incredibly attached to Rocco and Cat (…Mia and Winters too, but shhh). I tend to get super attached to the first characters I read, and look for them at every turn in the following books.
Yes, I looked for Baine and Sloan in JUSTICE MINE…
…but I think Law and Mags have my heart.
We first met Law as Baine’s “butler” in ENEMY MINE – he went by the prim name of Lawrence and held himself just. So.
Baine and Sloan leave, leaving the McCord house and estate to Law – regardless, it is the place Law stays when they’re not on missions, but he does have a flat of his own. Content to be in the big estate by his lonesome, he does not expect Baine’s ‘sister’ to come barreling into the house. Here he thought he’d get quiet to calm his mind, and instead he gets the one person he has successfully avoided since becoming friends with Baine -- and she brings a couple bad guys in her wake.
These two were a hoot to watch. She’s a sass with a quick mouth; he flirts extremely easily with her – which I found surprising in the beginning considering his dark mood.
Her quick, sassy mouth spews what it thinks – her mind is equally spunky (yes, she manages to put a lid on the outbursts).
In just 24 short hours, they go from strangers (granted, have to give the man credit, Law has been lusting after Mags for quite some time) to serious kissing buddies.
As they go through the motions of taking down a pretty significant sex ring, they (of course) fall for one another -- but again, Law was already half there, silly man.
While I loved Baine and his promises to Sloan, Law, with his dark moods and honest words, stole my heart. He swears to Mags he'll never abandon her, and he loves her as she is -- nosey journalist, quirky mind, freckled face, foul mouth, and all.
But Sloan figured there was more to him than met the eye, and sure enough…
Lawrence the butler is really Law the Base Branch agent and best friend/partner of Baine. When we last saw Law in ENEMY MINE, he wasn’t exactly Team Baine – and that is where we pick up in JUSTICE MINE.
Baine has asked Law to stand by his side when he marries Sloan, but after seeing him toe that black and white/gray line too close for his comfort, Law needs to reassess things. He’s afraid that the friend he thought he knew so well, is really a bit more distant than he figured him for.
For most of the first chapter, the reader gets a look into a brooding Law's mind -- but you don't know exactly what it is he's so pissed about.
These two were a hoot to watch. She’s a sass with a quick mouth; he flirts extremely easily with her – which I found surprising in the beginning considering his dark mood.

Ok I have definitely found an author who deserves a fav keeper library shelf as I can read her books over and over... they are just that good. In my review of the first book of this series "Enemy Mine" I described how much is packed into the books, dark issues that we whisper, the horror of war and all the evil that some people are exposed to and how the light of purity can still survive out of all that negativity. I love how the stories, although contain deep issues and are heart pounding they have that HEA that appeals to us as we do need to know it will be okay and love conquers all in the end. All this and so much more as we also get some spicy hot scenes with spicy people who are hard and tasty... Mm mmmm mmmmm
Now what I realized I left out in the first review was the great writing style Ms Mitcham has as she layers her words so uniquely that I cannot wait to turn the page and find another novel way to describe a person, place or situation. I have to share some of my fav lines so you'll see for yourself :
“A bloke the size of a Shire horse drank the entrance to her father’s home in one gulp”
"The wind kicked me around for a year before I even thought about going back to school and finishing law.”
And then here is one description that says it all... Ladies am I right?!?!
“The groove down the center of his back was nearly recreated over his front as abutted ridges of muscle bisected his centerline. Two slabs of pectoral brawn ate up a good portion of the real estate.”
Not your simple wording at all and it adds so much to the whole book as yet another layer to a Megan Mitcham story and the journeys she takes us on... I just love it!!!!
So, not only do we get fast paced, action packed scenes that could rival any James Bond, spy thriller but we get full bodied characters who each have their own silhouettes unique to them. Each character has an edge and what I love is that the female characters are strong real women who curse and stand for what they are and believe and while Sloan was a hard bodied fighting machine, Mags was a soft curvy chick who could kick butt (thanks to some self defense moves from her brother Baine) and her share will to survive. Different personas and scenarios all wrapped up and contagious.
Again Ms Mitcham you blew my socks off and have a true winner here and I truly thank you for sharing with us readers your gift.
*Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a honest review.
IT IS OFFICIAL. BASE BRANCH HAS BECOME MY FAVOURITE SERIES!
Magdalena Wells and Lawrence Pierce might have killed each other through the words they yield as weapons, if not for the constant danger they are facing in their lives! Seriously, they are the one couple who seems to love and hate each other on sight!
They could be arguing like children, banter as if they were long-term best friends and the next moment, BAM! Law and Mags are visually undressing and sexing each other in their minds like passionate lovers!
(Sexing isn’t a real word…more like visually fucking each other. Yeap, eye-fucking each other!)
Or…they could just argue to their deaths. I’m seriously beginning to think it’s their part-time job to keep each alive while running on the road…or maybe it’s their hobby to drive each other insane!
Law Pierce is having a difficult settling down his feelings and unrest ever since the undercover mission with Baine. He wants to relax but this thought was gone the moment Mags Wells arrive.
Both of them faces constant danger as Mags struggles to find out the truth, with Law protecting her from every attempt on her life.
I swear Megan has this wonderful ability to write her novels filled with such heart-stopping moments that makes you go “BOOM!”, action that will get your whole body go like “KABOOM!”, and leave you wanting for more of her Base Branch novels!
Highly recommended for readers who would love to read a novel filled with action and a heated passion between the characters!
Law and Magdelena had a very suspenseful beginning.
After a year on assignment in Africa, Mags returns home and stumbles into something that has her going home to her family. Instead of finding her father, she runs into Law.
Their attraction to each other is most definitely there but ignored until their forced to go on the run and in hiding until they can find out who's after Magdelena.
LAW was a sexy, military James Bond type with a tough and well built body. Despite his outward appearance, he was actually quite sensitive. After being closed off for years and still recovering from a loss, he is very hesitant to follow through or give in to his strong attraction to Magdelena.
MAGS was a very spunky chick. Even in the face of danger, she remained strong and handled herself way better than most would. After dealing her time in Africa, not only did she help the locals; she also spent that time to focus on herself which helped give her the inner strength that comes in handy during the ordeal she finds herself running from. This spunky, foul mouthed Mags only added to Laws attraction to her. He didn't want dainty and Mags was anything but.
These characters had great chemistry and their banter was comical at times which helped keep the story from being over the top with constant suspense. It helped keep the characters real and relateable.
Megan Mitcham gives us a story that's very well written. Megan gives us a third person POV from Mags and Law but does it in a way so we're not reading this story as an alternating view of he said; she said. To me it helped the story flow more smoothly.
This is a recommended read for me.

“Justice Mine” sucked me in with the very first page and kept my attention until the very last word. It flowed so smoothly that I was able to finish it in one sitting. There were so many things that I loved about the book and the characters. I loved the story line; it’s one of my favorite genres. I love the big alpha, covert ops, military type of hero. Law is now one of my book boyfriends. I absolutely adore him. I love the way he loves. He gives his heart completely. There is one thing that I totally loved about him that you’ll have to read to find out. Yep, I’m keeping Law close to my heart. I also loved Mags. She was willing to put her life on the line for her friends. I loved how sassy she was.
After reading both “Enemy Mine” and “Justice Mine”, Megan now joins my elite team of must read authors. I fell in love with her work in “Enemy Mine”, and it just gets better the more I read. I also fell in love with her characters. I need to read more about her “Base Branch” warriors and how they lose their hearts.
I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys action and adventure with their romance.
I received this book from Xpresso Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.
This book, although it could be read as a standalone, definitely makes more sense if you have read Enemy Mine. At the end of that book, you will know that Blaine did some questionable things for Sloane which Law wasn't comfortable with. At the start of this book, you see Law still trying to deal with his feelings on the matter and understand just what happened and why. Mags walks into his life and literally blows it apart. The attraction between those two is immediate, although neither of them act on it.
The build up of tension in this book, both between Law and Mags as well as the story itself, is sublime. It is breath-catching and you will find yourself being gripped by the story and using those infamous bookworm words "... just one more chapter".
Blaine and Sloane do make an appearance in here, along with some other characters that we have met previously but not enough to overshadow the story if you are reading it as a standalone.
As for me, I can't wait to read Ryan's story in Stranger Mine. This is definitely a contemporary romantic suspense that should be on your keepers list. Highly recommended.
Magdalena has just returned home to England after a year in Congo, and she just wants to take her load off, and sleep for a week. This plan doesn´t work, though, when her best friend and flatmate kicks her out for the night. When she sneaks back to just collect a forgotten memory stick, she´s in for a surprise she doesn´t like, at all, and this leads to a lot more trouble than she ever could have thought. Law is back home after a long undercover operation, and wanting to occupy himself with manual labour, he finds himself renovating his best friends cottage when a surprise visitor arrives. Finally face to face with his best friends sister he realizes he was right all along - she´s just as gorgeous as he thought. When trouble comes calling for Magdalena, Law will be there, saving and helping her investigate.. Action, smutty fluff and mystery in a great combo and a fast paced read. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Magdalena Wells saw her friend suffer a fate no woman should suffer. She will take down the people she needs to get justice. When Law comes into play he stirs something inside of her.
Law Pierce’s is strong, loyal, and dedicated. When he meets Magdalena the sparks fly. Tasked to work together to bring down some corrupt people, will they be able to ignore what they have between them.
I couldn’t put this book down like the first one. It has everything you may need, a female lead who is smart, sassy, loyal to a t, and can handle her own. The male lead is hardcore, deadly and loyal. Because when you earn his loyalty, he will do anything in his power to keep you safe. Boy how I wish he would keep me safe. I swear you don’t want to get on his bad side.
There is action, drama and scorching sex scenes. I can not wait to read the next book in this series.
Justice Mine is the second book in the Base Brach Series and is so captivating that you can devour it in one sitting. It’s packed full of suspense, action, romance and adventure.
When Mags witnesses her best friend being sexually assaulted, she is hell bent on revenge on those responsible and will stop at nothing to get justice for her friend. Mags is extremely loyal and passionate and can hold her own. When Law enters the picture, she feels things for him that she has never felt for another man before and when they are required to start working together to bring justice, she knows that she is in trouble.
Law is amazing. He’s an alpha male, military, dangerous, deadly and extremely sexy. Law and Mags together create major sparks and their sex scenes are off the charts!
I am looking forward to reading the next book in this Series.
I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Tanya.
4.5 stars. This was the second book in the series and I found I couldn't put it down. We met Law in Enemy Mine and know he is close to Baine as a friend and a member of Base Branch. Mags is the daughter of Baine's butler but is more like a sister to him. When she returns from Africa on journalistic assignment she returns home to her flatmate being sexually assaulted. From here on out things get really hairy with the bad guys chasing her down and making attempts on her life. When she escapes back to London Law is the only one there who can help her. This was an action packed story with a great romance between the H/h. The character development was really well done with plenty of layers to them. I loved Mags she was strong and feisty and had a great mouth on her. The secondary characters were also well developed and hold lots of promise for the other books in this series. Glad it's Ryan's book next as I loved him in the first book.
Goddess Justitia aka Lady Justice quoted by Law ..."is a constant symbol of what I fight for and of what I have to live for." --Partial Quote from 'Justice Mine'
Loyal, protective, indestructible with a small sensitive streak for those Law loves and a flat out bulldozer against those who want to do harm to them! Magdalena spits fire when her friend is attacked and fights without nearly a blink for her own safety. Together Law and Mags are forced to team up to bring down the unknown, and have found that special connection that makes their world tilt! Oh yes, some must die as the mystery unfolds. And Oh....the intimacy is so intensely hot! A must read, I loved Enemy Mine and the role Law played in it. Justice Mine more than makes up for the two years he spent in Africa. Great job to the author for sucking me in and keeping glued to my kindle reader!
Law Pierce is struggling to regain his life and friendships after a long deep undercover assignment. Not exactly sure how to get back to his old reality keeps Law on edge. Mags Wells finds her friend has been brutally sexually assaulted, more than once and hasn't reported it at all.
Law and Mags crackle with wit, snappish responses and sexual frustration over each other as they pick through the web of corruption, under the table political deals and too many vicious villains to count. The tension was ratcheted up on this pair's chemistry and they each go through a bit of growth as they come to terms with the changes at home since they left over a year ago.
This is the third book of the series I've read and actually the second in the series and it seems to be more in touch with the characters than the others so I have to continue. Rating: 4stars
The second book in the Base Branch series is just as exciting as the first one.
Magdalena and Law are two forces of nature. She is extremely strong with very high morals. Law is loyal and very protective. Their encounter is sizzling and their chemistry is off the charts.
They are forced to work together when she witnesses her roommate being assaulted and finds refuge with Law. Chase after chase and the constant being in harm’s way, causes them to build a very solid and intense relationship. She is what he needs to make him forget the horrors he experienced in Africa.
Once again, the book sucked me into the story and I was not disappointed in this second installment.
The story is fast-paced and very entertaining. I was able to finish it in one day.
This is a intriguing and fascinating book to read, and I really enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: drama, suspense, intrigue, a feisty determined woman (Magdalena Wells), a tough yet sensitive man (Law Pierce), a friends sexual assault, action, danger, verbal banter, corruption, violence, danger, attractions, adventure, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a good well written military romance with a happy ending.
Lots of action, twists and turns in this suspenseful read. The characters are believable you get hooked into their lives and the events happening in them. There is graphic violence and sexual content. I will be looking out for more in this series as it has all the elements I love to read about.
This is book 2 in the series and is a stand alone story. It does help a little to read them in or but not necessarily. I highly recommend this story and series. Lots of action and adventure to keep you reading! I was rooting for Mags and Law threw the whole story. Good suspense and really hot love scene. Looking forward to the next book in the series. This one was a page turner just like book 1. Thank you Megan.
I recommend this story for everyone, but read Enemy Mine first as it gives somewhat back story on some characters. This one however leaves u with a small cliffhanger just enough to leave you wanting more and let me tell you i want more I'm in fact in need of more I cant get enough of Base Branch!!! Love it!!!

After reading the first book in Mitcham's Base Branch series, I found myself wanting to know more about the intriguing character Law. This book delivers! I love the healing relationship that develops between Magdalena and Law, and that they find a way to chart a course together.
Wow! What a fabulous read, but then I've come to expect that with Megan Mitcham. The hero and heroine have great chemistry, the story is full of action from the get-go and doesn't let up. Loved it. Bring on the next book!
