One takes control. One finds balance in letting go.
Base Branch operative, Ryan Noble is accustomed to taking orders whether from his commander or his overbearing mother. His best friend urged him to take control of his life, but the only thing worse than an angry woman is a teary one. He has no desire to upset his mother’s fragile emotions. Losing his sister was hard enough, his mom couldn’t bear losing another child. Even if it is to the other side of D.C. It's a damn good thing she doesn't know what he does for a living.
On a routine mission to destroy a cargo free human trafficking facility and exterminate it’s operators, Ryan blows his extraction to rescue a woman he finds chained inside.
Piper Vega is caught between metal and a hard place. She needs information and it has taken far too long to cull it from her leads, also known as her captors. She finally has the facts she needs to complete her task, but it’ll take a miracle to set her free and see it achieved. Santo Padre knows she never expected her good favor to come in the form of a man.
Through intense battles of will, Ryan takes the reins of life in his sturdy grip while Piper discovers balance in loosening hers and both find unexpected love.

this is the 3rd book in this series and they keep getting better. This is alittle more hard core story than the other books but WOW is it good. Piper and ryan story is action packed and suspenseful. Keep them coming Megan. cant wait for what is next
I have loved Ryan from book one, even knowing he wasn't the one for Sloan and would forever be her best friend.
But damn, Megan sure knows how to open a book and make you like the man more, crude as it may be... (Hey, at least he has an honest mind..)!
Yep, still like Ryan. And oh! The man has a sassy, kinky side....
As with the other men we've met with Base Branch, he's damn good at his job. He's stealthy, quick on his feet, and thinks with the mind of a warrior.
That's not to say he doesn't have weak spots -- his mother, his childhood, the acts that he helps uncover and therefore the people he saves. Additionally, I don't think he ever would have fathomed love would hit him squarely between the eyes.
But on top of these fine male qualities... He's also honest.
...and not just silently. He TELLS Piper that he's not a one night and goodbye kind of guy. He's over that stage of life. Have to respect an honest man.
When we meet Piper, she's bound to a cinder block wall....
...and making a gym out of it.
If that doesn't speak to her character, I'm not sure what does.
She is strong and determined. She refuses to be a victim -- especially in a situation she purposefully put herself in. When the men have come for her, she breaksdidn't't, cartilage... Even considers biting off important appendages. When Ryan comes barreling in, unknowingly rescuing her, she head butts him.
She will be no one's victim.
In fact, she gives as good as she gets right from the beginning with Ryan -- in addition to the sexual tension, the verbal sparring is spot on.
I love when authors write WELL into the man's psyche, and that is certainly the case in STRANGER MINE. Whenever we as readers hear Ryan's thoughts, they're very much a man's thoughts -- swearing, sex, women. Discomfort or arousal. The thoughts are all man.
Equally so, I love that Piper is written as a strong lead female (has to be in her chosen profession), but even in her weaker, more vulnerable moments, you still get a sense of how strong she truly is.
I had been excited for Ryan's book and it certainly didn't disappoint. While I'm not sure how I feel about Commander Tucker's book, I have to admit the last line of STRANGER MINE makes a person at least slightly curious. I am, however, extremely excited for Khani's story.
I received a free book in return for an honest review and every word hereafter is mine with no coercion or promises made by the author. "Stranger Mine" is the third in an action-packed, electrifying and truly enticing series. Each book has its own storyline and focus with deep and dark subject matter that pulls you in and keeps you on edge and turning pages. This journey with Ryan and Piper carries us to the Mexican Cartel with human trafficking and all its horror being the main focus. Again we are introduced to strong characters who clash and rub each other in all the wrong and right ways. While this story had action and some serious nail biting moments I found it lenses itself more towards the characters and their building relationship which might I add had its own fair share of bangs, booms and sonic blasts too. Wow talk about caliente!!! For those who have not read Ms Mitcham's books before they will need to understand her books are spicy and this one leans over towards erotica.... Not too too much shades of grey as the only chains were the ones that held Piper but a couple slaps and a bit of the more adventurous angles to sex. That being said the book moved at a steady pace we ran through mine fields and blew up buildings and shot evil people who unfortunately are part of our world but it's always good to be on the positive HEA side of life... Shoot me I love HEA and always will. This book is slightly shorter than the first two and as I said is more towards the characters spicy expire cues with each other but it has enough fast paced action to keep one's fingers flipping pages and unfortunately the manicure will remain ruined so beware! A definite must have series and again I truly believe this series will be great as a movie series for us adrenaline monkeys who love the 007 type action with real word storylines laced with intrigue and suspense that keeps us on the edge of our seats.
The third book in the Base Branch series gives us the story of Ryan and Piper.
Always following orders from his overbearing mother and his Base commander, he is finally put in a situation where he takes charge.
Piper is fiercely brave and loyal and used to doing things on her own, her way.
When he finds her chained to the wall in a human-trafficking facility, Ryan’s protective instincts take over and he blows his extraction to save her. Piper doesn’t want to be saved; she is there for a reason and she doesn’t really tell him what that is.
Working together brings their emotions and desires to the forefront and they find themselves wishing for something they feel is out of their reach.
The Base Branch series keeps getting better and better. Excitement and suspense at every turn make this a book you don’t want to put down… and the ending… I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next!
Non stop action from the start in this exciting read continuing the Base Branch series, Focus is on Ryan who we first met in book 1. Ryan is on a mission, one that doesn't go to plan. He doesn't expect to end up rescuing a prisoner and then help her with completing her own mission, one that could get them both killed. Lots of violence and tension and a fast pace with a great flow through the chapters to keep the reader glued to the pages, the suspense builds early on to an almost smooth end. Plus a bit of a cliff hanger leading into book 4 the next in the series. This isn't a stand alone book, I feel to get maximum benefit you need to read all in order. Oh and there is a bit of a BDSM element in the sexual content, Ryan definitely likes his control in the bedroom or wherever else they decide to get it on. The ending wasn't quite what I expected but then I like surprises.
Piper spoke true. 'This love stuff was slightly painful and absolutely terrifying business.' Amazing! I could not put this book down. Ryan, I felt a connection to him in Enemy Mine, All-American good looks still catered to his mom, while still leading the life of espionage. Piper for all her bravery and fierceness, loyal to a flaw. Taking even a small chunk out of a cartel ring is a major undertaking, Piper and Ryan took them head on...BRILLIANT! What a great follow up to Justice Mine. And the ending of Stranger Mine..Holy Moses...I couldn't breathe! Warrior Mine cannot come out soon enough! This is a must read! Waiting for the next book ... is awful!
Another fantastic read from Megan Mitcham. This story is not only full of action and suspense, there is the (sadly) very real and heart breaking story of human trafficking. Ryan and Piper are both broken in their own ways, but manage to work through their problems and open their hearts to love. Great characters, excellent storyline, had me on the edge of my seat at times. Wonderful book, and a brilliant series!
4 stars. Ryan Noble base branch operative hot alpha and good guy. I have waited for Ryan's HEA since the first book and boy was it worth the wait! This story was full of action, suspense, heart, hope and love with steamy scenes thrown in. I loved it. Piper was an incredibly strong character willing to do what it took to save her 'family'. I'm glad how things turned out for Matt and at the end took a sharp intake of breath so much so I'm having to dive straight into the next book.
Stranger Mine by Megan Mitcham ***** A HOT, Kick ass action read Ryan and Piper are both strong characters, but even stronger together. Their story is full of high adrenaline action and HOT sex. Soooo good! Note: I read this book as part of the Base Branch Series boxed set but wanted to do a review on the individual book as well!
The story of Ryan and Piper is complex and exciting. I especially loved the way these two strong individuals learn to nurture each other. Book 3 in the Base Branch series is steamy and a little scandalizing. I loved it!
in each of the books in this series so far there has been a strong woman and a powerful and fearless man. their trial to deal with the situation they are in and find love makes for a great story. Looking forward to the next book
Book 3 in the series, they just get better and better with each one. Piper and Ryan story will capture your imagination and take you on a roller coaster ride. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action and adventure in their romance.
What should have been a simple operation, turned into a full scale action-packed adventure. Ryan's orders are to destroy a holding facility for the human trafficking cartel, but after setting his charges he discovers Piper chained up in a prison cell. He thinks he's going to rescue her, but is shocked when she fights back and refuses to leave without the information she needs. Ryan discovers that Piper is every bit the fighter that he is, and is well matched to him in every way. The book is well written, keeping the reader engrossed from beginning to end, with a well thought out plot. The book is part of a series and as such characters from in previous books appear in this one too. However, this story is a stand-alone with an unexpected ending, although the way the way is paved to the next story. I received a copy of this book as as gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Reading Megan Mitcham's stuff typically leaves me with a frown on my face despite the sophisticated writing style - which can admittedly be distracting when the metaphors and the excessive use of the middle-voice start piling up and make the action scenes more complicated than they really are.
I never quite know what to do with her complex (but weird characters) and Ryan Noble is one such case. In any case, he meets his match in Piper Vega, an ex-cop who has burnt everything out in trying to keep her family together. She's hardened, wants control and sucks at being a team player.
But it's Ryan puzzles me most of all: behaving like a kid when it comes to deference in decision making, being mummy's pushover boy, only letting out his repressed dom in BDSM clubs etc, yet despite this glaring fault, managed to make the rigorous psych cut to be an elite operative? Meeting Piper somehow miraculously stripped that layer of insecurity of him (supposedly through yielding to his dom side) and for that, he gains a measure of self-awareness and grows up.
Stranger Mine is the third story in the Base Branch Novel series by Megan Mitcham, and so far, it is my favorite of all three books. I love this entire series, but what I love more is when the next book in the series is better than the previous ones. There is plenty of action and adventure, along with some hot and steamy moments that will have you fanning yourself. Ms. Mitcham has become a must read author for me.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This one is a total miss.neither main character has much personality. The start is murky and the damsel in dire straits but well trained rings false when they are so caught up in bad situations.
