This is a story with potential, but needs to be improved. I like Sara's main and subsidiary characters, and some of the scenes between warrior Joran and Kara were very erotic and hot, including BDSM elements between this pair as love and lust develop.
The story starts very much as if reading an episode from Star Trek, but the characters come across as variations of aliens we see through the sci fi TV dramas.
Things to be improved... I'm quite surprised that Publishers, Siren aren't a little more careful about the editing side of their writer's work.
These were the main negatives for me, overuse of some terms, the worst has to be 'off of' one example: 'It grabbed her bra and ripped it off of her. Kara tried bucking him off of her. "Get off of me," she wailed.' Three consecutive instances that would have been less irritating than - off of, which has to have been the most overused phrase here, and could have read as:
'It grabbed her bra and ripped it off her. Kara tried bucking him off her. "Get off me," she wailed.'
Then aliens who have visited Earth for the first time have an amazing command of the American language...they sound like a hesitant person might be when speaking American English, a language alien to themselves...on the odd occasion. But when the Captain starts using Fuck and Shit expletives as does her warrior Joran sound like an all American mouthy hero at times, so it lets itself down here too.
You need to decide on your character's looks, personality and speech patterns from wherever they are from and keep them in character at all times. Otherwise it looks a little amateurish.
So for me it's around 2.5 to 2.75 stars and as such have rounded up to border 3.

I was given this book as part of a review for the BDSM group for an honest review.
I was verging between a 2 star and 3, but came down on the 3 as I did like the storyline on the whole, but this story could have beenso much more. I was not happy with the writing style, it was too naive / child like for me. The use of the terminology of " monsters" for aliens is just one example. I found it hard to empathise with the characters, even when they were raped and assaulted by said monsters.
The sex was hot in places, but the lack of consent, and some punishments, for me verged on abuse.
I was not totally taken with this book, but then I'm not really into Star Trek, and the theme throughout this book was very Trekkie, which may have clouded my view at times.

This was an okay story. Neither outstanding, nor terrible. However with a some further editing and plot tweaking it could have been so much better. I believe this (new) author definitely has a lot of potential.
At times I forgot the men were aliens, they came across as very human. I would call this story sci-fi/BDSM light.
If you are looking for a quick, light hearted read, this could be the ticket.

Joran is a dareen warrior he asks revenge against the shara for the death of his brother and his brother children and the catatonic state his brothers wife is in due to the beatings and rape at the hands of the evil shara while in battle with the shara they attacked the dareen ship then flees in escape pods to earth while looking for the shara joran pretends to be a fun agent looking for a person who was killing people on government land he is working with the local law enforcement when he meets Kara hee falls for her even knowing that he can't have her because of the dareen laws of non interference that all changes when Kara and her friend are taken by the shara and beaten and raped will joran get to them in time? Will Kara find the love she so desperately wants to find out I strongly suggest you buy this book 5 gold stars

Starlight is filled with hot and sexy goodness! I never thought I'd ever be interested in BDSM until I read this. The characters, plot, steamy scenes are well developed and ah! Just awesomeness! Hmm. Love it! Cannot wait until I can get them in physical copy. Look out chicky. Imma gonna get people around here addicted! XD for anyone looking for romantic, out of this world, well written novels I suggest you check it out!

Wow! Hot Alien Man Meets Sexy Human Woman!
I received this book for my fair and honest opinion.
First I would like to say that as a first in a series for a writer it has some weak points that have been already pointed out in previous reviews. But what I would like to emphasize is that while not all book genres will appeal to all readers. That being said I found this first book in Ms. Anderson's Warriors of Dareen Series to be intense, romantic, steamy on occasions, and full of love. Her hero Joran only wants to protect the heroine Kara. His Dominance is prevalent throughout the book. And Kara's suppressed submissiveness is revealed. The D/s dynamics are spot on and realistic. I would only say that there should be a disclaimer posted in the beginning to warn about the rape scenes. All in all I rated this book a strong 4.75 stars. I look forward to reading the rest in the series as I feel Ms. Anderson's Characters are solidly developed and the personality traits imbued hold a chemistry between them. I could easily imagine myself there in the story. A must read for anyone who truly loves Alien Romances.

I would rate this novella 2.5 stars. It was just not for me. The writing style was very simple and often times uninspired. It contained numerous technical and grammatical errors that were hard to overlook. The book is labeled a BDSM romance, but lacks the consent to make it a true BDSM story. The author attempts to portray a dominant/submissive couple, but it comes off more as a bully/victim relationship. The story itself was not horrible, but needs work to make it more appealing to most readers.

What an amazing read. Dominating aliens hell yes pls. When Kara and Joran meet they have an instant attraction to each other. But Joran can not pursue Kara because of his own orders. When she has a run in with the aliens he is on Earth chasing things seem to turn around for them.
A lovely story of finding the right person for your life and learning to trust them, yourself and your body.

Kara had a normal live on earth till a very Special Agent steps into her workplace and sets her insides on fire. Jarron is on a mission to capture some escaped aliens that hurt his colony family. But Kara is filling his every thought and when she gets in trouble with the escapees. It's a race to save her and pray he can get to her in time intact and hopefully she will want to bond with him.

Pretty standard stuff. Alien meets girl, saves girl, whisks away to home planet while girl argues with herself about whether or not it's okay to have feelings for the alien who stole her life. It did have some steamy scenes as well as some tragic ones but it was a light, brain candy read.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.
It has been such a long time since i have read a series as good or as unique as this one, Sara Andersen brings us a Futuristic sexy Hot Alien Romance
This is the first book in the Warriors of Dareen series.

Kara has allot to get use to for sure and a new way of life one in which her man wants to take care of everything for her, after all she is from earth so nothing is that easy ..... or is it? I loved kara she is so raw and so edgy i loved how defiant she was and her punishments ...... omg i blushed.
“Do I need to start your lesson all over again, Kara?” Joran asked in an ominous tone.
Joran he is a strong sexy Alpha male dominant warrior who thinks he can get this beautiful lady to bend to his will fully ..... mmm well he is in for some fun teaching her that's for sure :)
“Oh, you can, and you will,” he ordered her as his golden eyes bored into hers.
I loved this book hard, yes in between some these dominant men made me want to be all defiant but that's the nature of the beast and how the book brings out so much emotions in us, I personally adored how Joran cared so hard about Kara he wanted to help her over come her worst fears and to help her find an outlet as well. Another thing i loved is the unique names that all these warriors have and even the baddies have cool names as well. watch out for the scary Shara soldiers.....
What i am most looking forward to is learning more about Laura and all the other sexy Dareen warriors. a Fantastic start to a great new series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have to admit that I wasn't too sure if I would like a scifi romance, but I am happy to say that this story totally swept me away. Sara created this imaginary world with Aliens that are able to interact with humans, but the humans do not know about them. Joran is one of these aliens and he was sent to earth to chase after some monsters that are wreaking havoc with the population. Joran meets Kara and is instantly attracted to her, but he has strict orders to not fall in love with any humans. When Kara and her friend Laura are attacked by the very monsters that Joran is chasing, he has no other choice but to protect her which only affirms his feelings for her. Their journey is filled with heartache, uncertainty, and ultimately love.
Sara not only created an interesting story that hooked me right from the start, but she also has a great flow to her writing. It was as if she transported me to Dareen and I was watching from the sidelines as everything was unfolding in front of my eyes. There are some really hot, sexy scenes in this book too! Sara can definitely write some sexy scenes. I dove right into Stardust (Warriors of Dareen #2) after I finished this book. I just had to know what happened and I love that this story continues with Kara's friend Laura.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a sci-fi girl so adding the romance element really worked for me.
Kara has dumped her boyfriend after she caught him cheating on her. He continues to abuse her verbally and tear down her self esteem. But when she meets Joran, her eyes are opened to possibilities. What she doesn't realize is that Joran is not human, he is a Dareen warrior. When she and her friend are attacked by Shara, the Dareen warriors come to their aid. She and Laura are taken to their ship to be treated by the doctors. The connection between Kara & Joran continues to grow and she is bonded to him. Will the two be able to make this relationship work? Can she submit to the Dareen laws or will she fight them? Will the Shara that are on earth be captured or will they continue to attack the humans? Read this book to find out...

At first this is not a normal book I would read to me I thought it would be strange about aliens but once I started reading I cannot put this book down who knew the aliens could be so hot and so dominant.. This book so many fan facing moments. Kara Who worked for the local sheriffs department was drooling over the FBI agent that was there but to her surprise he's not Any old agent he is a warrior from Dareen. And when Kara and her friend Laura get kidnapped and beaten and raped the Warriors from Dareen rescue them and take them back to their ship when things get seriously hot and never stops.. I don't want to give away any of this book this is a highly recommended read your expectations will be blown away I loved this read it's definitely a five star for me.

Loved this book! Joran is on Earth hunting his enemy and Kara is getting over a bad romance when they meet at the sheriff's office she works at. Joran is posing as a FBI agent and the attraction is mutual but he doesn't want to get involved with a human. But when Kara and her friend are attacked the rules for Joran change.
I thought this was a great, steamy romance that held my attention the entire story. In fact I read it in one sitting. Can't wait to read more in this series!

This was more serious than I thought it would be based on the blurb... lots for monster/alien rape going on. I don't know what is says about me but I thought this was a fun read.

This was my 1st book by this author and I liked it. It's worth reading the 2nd in the series :-)
