Then Allie meets the Lords. Twin Alpha werewolves who rule over all North American werecreatures, Rafe and Tim may look exactly alike, but Allie can tell them apart from the moment they first meet. She’s not sure what to think when they both want to claim her as their mate.

What’s with this trend of having warnings on romance novels? Having read a few before, I’m aware that many romance novels contain sexual activity. Looking at the cover and reading the back of the book, I know that Lords of the Were will have at least one threesome. Why the warning? Warning, this title contains explicit sex and ménage a trios. Well, duh.

There are two major problems with Lords of the Were. It is a perfect example of why as students we were always implored to “show not tell.” This book is a teller. The main female and the two males (identical twins) immediately form a soul bond. What this means is that the authors thinks it lets her out of developing the relationship apart from a token resistance by one brother that ends, seriously, within 8 hours of meeting. The three have joyous, kinky sex pretty much immediately with the relationship building consisting solely of one or more moaning ‘I love you, I love you, I love you, etc’ during orgasm. Look, soul bonds can work. They can. It is important to remember that a soul bond should be a complication not a solution to a relationship. It’s not a magic fix, but a soul bond can force people to explore and build a connection. The book tells us the three are in love, but doesn’t bother to show us. This ties very nicely to the second problem with the book. The three have this perfect soul bond, with an amazing amount of sex, the end. The relationship is perfected by page thirty. No unkind word, no misunderstandings, nothing. It’s dull. I was much more interested in the secondary characters than the main ones.

On the plus side, and why I gave it more than one star, the anal sex was well written. First, the female, while not a virgin, was not very experienced. She had reasonable doubts about anal sex and the three of them actually addressed the issue. Also, lubrication and preparation was included in foreplay! I know it’s a low standard, but I have read a number of novels where these critical provisions for anal sex were ignored. Ouch.

Oh, and there’s an overarching plot with a villain that’s going to be resolved in the next two books, but, really, it’s all about the sex.

I read about this book on one of the threads here at GR..it was a discussion regarding Erotica vs porn vs romance. Someone mentioned this author as one that wrote more pornographic love scenes than erotica. So of course..I had to find one of her books and read it myself.

The book started our really interesting...Adopted woman is turning 32 she is contacted by a woman who were a friend of her dead birth mother's. Found she is a priestess..during initiation ceremony meets twin Were Lords (wolves in this case). Finds herself mated to both...several sex scenes later and being chased by a group of evil magic wielders..she defends the weres and the good guys using magic.

Like I said it started out interesting and I thought the love scenes were well written. Around the middle of the book it went south. I'm not sure if the author got distracted but the characters seemed to get shallower and not as likable. For me that is when the book went from a 3 star read to a 2 star read.

I would not classify this as porn by any standard, yes it was erotica..a bit gratuitous..leaning toward ruining the plot to squeeze in those scenes.

Would not really recommend the book..sad because it had potential.

I'm to happy say that this was a really good read. I loved the two alphas and Allie, then add the fey and vampire and it's quite a wonderful world. I've been looking forward to getting this series started and I'm so glad the book finally came. Loads of hot steamy sex with threesomes so if you are faint of heart you may wish to pass on this or not. Highy recommend.

I really liked this story for being interesting enough to keep my attention and having characters who I would love to know in the real world. The story grabs you immediately and makes you want to find out what could possibly be so mysterious about what the ladies are doing. As characters are introduced you will want to continue on because things get more interesting as they progress. The story flows well and is explained as it goes so you do not have some of those gaps which can be so annoying.

Allesandra (Allie) was orphaned at a young age and never knew her real parents, so when a woman comes to her and says that her mother asked her to get in touch with her when the time came she should have been surprised. What she finds out is that her mother was a priestess and now she must be consecrated into the service of the deity that her mother served. Allie feels so comfortable in a world she had no idea existed until her 32nd birthday when it all opened up to her. She seems a little timid at first but steps up and turns into a gutsy woman.

Tim and Rafe are the twin pair Lord's of The Were who are sworn to protect Allie and love her if she will let them. They rule over all were no matter what they may be and have a pact with the Lady which keeps them all safe. They are two gorgeous hunks of wolf who take their responsibilities very seriously and will do anything to protect their people.

What no one realizes is that a plot to kill their priestess from an ancient evil is moving their way and they may not be as prepared as they think.

This had what I love in a story in that it made me cry, made me laugh, made me hot! Their was hot sex, good fighting, good magic (black and white), emotional moments, and family. A quick read but a satisfying one.

Overall good book. Allie is introduced into her heritage that she had no clue about. She is the next high priestess in training to the Lady and is now under the protection of weres. From human to a whole new world of the supernatural; were creatures, bloodletters (vamps), and the fey. Allie takes it extremely well even flows straight into a mating with the twin alpha werepair.

Sex scenes good. A little domination from these alpha males, along with a scene of bondage, a couple spankings.

A firm foundation

This is such a fantastic love story! The characters connect right away and their relationship builds as does her knowledge. I love how the romance is so entwined with the action and danger, it added a fullness to the story that completely drew me in. I enjoyed the supporting characters and how loyalties are built and tested. The author did a wonderful job with this book and I am looking forward to reading the next installment.

Ms. D'Ard gives us hot sex scenes, men who are dominant without being overly obnoxious a strong heroine, were, and a plot you can follow. Short, but I see this as a good thing because it didn't drag on, you weren't overloaded with information or rather, drowned in a sea of details meant to distract you from lack of a storyline. A good read.

Great story, twin lords and a priestess, lots of action, romance, magic and deceit. Great characters, the story flows naturally, asking and answering questions. Looking forward to the next book in the series

This book I loved, I did not know the author and I was not disappointed at all, I read over it.
My only complaint of the book is that it was so short, with a vast theme. But I really enjoyed it, I recommend it...

First in the Tales of the Were fantasy series.

The Story
Allessandra "Allie" has only a few more days to embrace her heritage [and you'd think D'Arc would play up some tension and string us out a bit] and Betina, the current priestess, leads her up to the standing stones for the ritual which will awaken her powers and, hopefully, see her acceptance by the were.

We get a few words of concern during the ceremony and then it's off to the celebratory party where Allie meets family she never knew existed. Luckily, Allie has a few days of sexual play and magical learning before the evil one attacks. And attacks and attacks. Thank goodness for the brave Allie, embracing her powers bolstered by the love of her twin alphas.

My Take
The premise is good; the execution is juvenile. D'Arc's writing has no depth or passion. It reads as though she added a few extra words to her outline and figured she was done. Her characters are shallowly written. Their interactions are abrupt. As for her love scenes, there's a difference between taking pages and pages to write a single love scene and D'Arc's getting it over with in a few—one seven-line paragraph begins one lovemaking session and causes her to erupt in a "wave of desire". Sexually, Allie is 32-years-old and has had a few relationships. Other than one mention of her fantasies, which, naturally, are not discussed as it would take thought, there is nothing to indicate Allie even realized two men might share a woman in the same bed at the same time. Yet, she accepts it so easily other than a few token protests.

D'Arc has such a lovely opportunity to explore Allie's emotions let alone Tim's. She opens the possibilities by noting that Allie was orphaned when she was young and was raised by adoptive parents in their religion, not her mother's. For all the effort D'Arc put into this, she might as well have shortened it up and made it a short story.

D'Arc begins by painting Tim as a guarded person but doesn't maintain that fiction except to remind us with such moments as "Her heart broke open with the knowledge that he'd let his ever-present guard down enough…" and a very few others like it.

The interactions between the fae and the were were much too casual, but, I suppose it is consistent with the lazy execution of this story. It's homey enough but I kept gagging and couldn't wait to finish this farce.

The Cover
The cover looks like a thuggish boy band with Tim and Rafe, well-muscled, posing and staring off in different directions while a very young, blonde-haired, blue-eyed Allie gazes mistily out at us wearing a sleeveless wrap cream top, a charm-laden pendant dangling around her neck.

I reckon the title is appropriate as both Tim and Rafe are Lords of Were.

4.5 Stars A Definite Keeper, great start to Tales of the Were by Bianca D'Arc

Allesandra or Allie as she is known by those close to her is on the eve of her thirty third birthday. The time has come for Allie to fulfil her mother's dying wish and take her place as a Priestess of the Lady just as her mother had been before her death. Allie has been unaware of this other life as her mother had insisted she grow up protected in the human world until she was old enough to learn the truth. Since her thirteenth birthday Allie has been learning about her heritage and although a little scared of what is to come Allie is ready to accept her destiny.

Timothy (Tim) and Rafael (Rafe) are rare among the Werefolk as they are not only twins but they are both Alphas. When the last Priestess was killed she was mated to the reigning twin Alphas who also died in the battle to protect her. Rafe and Tim knew the only way to keep the Werefolk from certain destruction was to fight and take their rightful place as the next Twin Alphas to lead and protect their people.

When Allie arrives at the top of the wooded hill she discover a magical stone circle but her and Bettina a close friend of her mother that had been helping her were not alone. Waiting for her there are twin Alphas Tim and Rafe who will be her sworn protectors and her mentors. Tim and Rafe immediately recognise that Allie is more to them than just someone they are to protect, with just one touch Allie is embedded in their wolf.

Trouble is coming and just as Allie is accepting her new role and her love for her twin Alphas they will face a danger that could take away everything including their lives.

Lords of the Were is a great first book to start this series and I look forward to reading book 2 Inferno and finding out what Ms D'Arc has install for us next

(3.4)Okay, the sex was pretty good, that I have to admit. And I’ll be honest; I would love to have two gorgeous twins doing stuff to me like that. Anyway…the plot was interesting but it lacked suspense. I also wish we could have gotten to learn more about the history and origins of The Lady and more interaction w/ the other weres.

Basically, here is how the story goes. Allie is to fulfill her mother’s place, serving The Lady, Allie is new to this b/c she was adopted. Her parent(s) died protecting her and now she is back and is in for a surprise. She gets two protectors; they mate with her, Tim and Rafe. Tim and Rafe are the lords of the were. They shift into wolves and are the twin alphas of all the were and not just over the wolves. That’s why they are called the lords.

Allie is the only one who can tell them apart b/c they are so alike. But a secret society, who wants to get of all those serving The Lady are now after Allie, so there is trouble about. There is also a vampire who is after the were lords as well b/c he seeks revenge, I won’t say anything else or I’ll give it away, but he is a good vampire. And don’t forget the fey knight involved, but you already know that.

D’Arc did alright w/this one, I wasn’t really satisfied, I was expecting it to be better actually so I was little disappointed. For me, this is a book you read for fun on a rainy day.

Ok, maybe it's just my lack of interest in this genre of book at the moment... but this book didn't really work for me.
The sex scenes were really hot... but I couldn't fathom that she knew these boys for not even a day and already they were doing things that normal couples wouldn't normally do until they were comfortable with each other.
I mean, telling her they couldn't possibly wait any longer to DP? After like... a day and a half? Jeez boys, settle down.
The repetitive descriptions of background characters frustrated me too, although it did help you remember who was who.
Nothing really shocked me, there were no surprises. And even though I know it was all about sex, it's frustrating that the end was so quickly closed up. I mean all this build up of this bad character and within a few pages, it was all over. I like to get a bit more action!
All in all, it was ok. The sex scenes brought it up to two stars and the story was interesting.
Oh, also, did anyone else notice her eye colour changed from green to blue? Maybe it was just the kindle version (as I know they generally haven't been properly edited) but at the start she is wishing she had blue eyes like her mum... then within a chapter she has blue eyes! :S

An ancient evil is stalking the twin alpha rulers of the werefolk and the half-were woman who is destined to be their mateif she lives long enough. First in the Tales of the Were. Fulfilling her mothers dying wish, Allie climbs a wooded hill just before midnight on SamhainAll Hallows Eve. At the top, she finds an overgrown, magical stone circle, and her destiny. Waiting for her there are twin alpha werewolves who will be her sworn protectors, her mentorsand the loves of her life. If she lives long enough. Overprotective is just one word to describe Rafe and Tim. Sexy is most definitely another. But their newfound love and all their skillsboth mundane and magicalwill be tested by an ancient evil. A hostile human mage and a misguided vampire hunt them, servants to secret plans of the ancient Venifucus, a society dedicated to destroying women like Allie. They will earn unlikely allies, including a half-fey knight imprisoned Underhill for centuries. But will it be enough to battle the evil that stalks them? Will Allies men be strong enough to let her aid them in her own defense? Only together can were, fey and vampire defeat this latest threat and learn that love does truly conquer all. Warning, this title contains explicit sex and mnage a trois.

An alright overall story, though not really a keeper...For me it's probably becasue Ms D'Arc's style of wrtiting bugs the bejesus out of me...The story feels sort of like a fantasy (with para elements) but with modern language...Think Urban LOTR....For me, it was very disconcerting and nearly impossible to read it in one sitting. I had to keep taking breaks becasue I kept getting annoyed!

But if you liked any of Bianca D'Arc's previous titles, chances are, you'll like this one too. It was a pretty decent story, though a little underdeveloped and things moved even quicker than I'm used to (even for Romance novels!). Oh and the world building was a bit on the scant side as well. We get a few details , but not really enought to really understand the world she's trying to put together. The characters were all okay...They didn't really stand out, but I didn't hate them either. If it wasn't for my issue with the way she writes, I pobably would have liked this a whole lot more.

Keep in mind, that (at least IMO) if you've read and disliked her previous titles, this probably won't change your mind.

Too short are the first two words that come to mind about this book. 150 or so pages is definitely not long enough, especially when there are three lead characters. There is a good plot going and lots of unanswered questions regarding the three main characters, so it would be nice to see how that develops. Lots of other interesting characters are in this book as well. Some are strong enough it seemed for the author to even establish a book for them as well. The relationship between Tim, Rafe (twin alpha werelords) and Allesandra (high priestess in training) seemed at times to be a bit rushed. The feelings between the three are instantaneous (literally with the first touch) instead of being built upon. (Side Note: some of the things Allie says are quite repetitive, which eventually just got annoying.) The action in the book was too rushed for my taste as well. The author did leave quite a bit of character and world building out of the book and that is what probably disappointed me most. Although the story and characters definitely have potential.

Can I say how disappointed I am with this book when I re-read it? Well I guess I can since I am writing the review. I originally read the book years ago when it was hard for me to find books in the paranormal genre with mmf and erotica. Now there are so many good books to choose from and apparently my standards are much higher.
There is no world building in this book. The book starts abruptly and as a reader I would have appreciated an introduction to the characters and their world. The intricacies of the world that Allie, Rafe, and Tim life in are never explained just kind of thrown out as an aside.
If you read authors like Lori Foster, they can write a scene where a touch makes you tingle and feel the love grow between the characters. D'Arc wrote a whole sex scene and I just wasn't feeling the love or tingle in the relationship. No care, no wanting to know each other, just let's jump into bed and insist on being the big wolf-man alphas.
I guess after reading much better books that this one just doesn't hold up so from a 3 star to a 1 star averages to a 2 star rating.

Really neat idea, great sex, story's foundation was lacking.
Bottom Line: Try before you buy
I found this book, in some ways better than I expected, and in others seriously lacking.
I liked the idea of the main character, Allie, a new member of a magical group she has no knowledge of...and she's really important, but doesn't know how to fit it.
That she falls in love (and beds) two men, brothers, who have claimed her as their mate..for life.
The characters were pretty good...you were interested in them.. The sex was hot.. The magical stuff, was really really hokey..and not as believable as it should have been. And the knight character was just plain bad...a distraction to the story.
Depending on what you're looking for from your books, you may or may not want to purchase the next in this series.
I'd recommend Keri Arthur (Riley series) or Patricia Briggs (Mercy series) a lot more for werewolves.

This book interlaces both the vampire/bloodletters and the weres in the world of Bianca D'Arc, with a sprinkling of fae and magick users. Allie is unaware of most of her family heritage until a journal of her mother's is given to her. She had some information from an earlier journal, but it was geared to a preteen and gave her information about her religious background but not her mother's mates and their lifestyle. She's an older heroine as the story introduces her to her broader family on the night before her 33rd birthday. The story ends with her settling into her marriage but it's obvious that there is more to come in future editions. I do enjoy the author but I like the later books in this series better as they seem to have more detail on the characters and their interactions. It's still a keeper for me.

This story was published back in 2006 and was clearly intended to be the first in a series of stories. Add to the were in the title a motley assortment of fey, priestesses of the lady, vampires and sorcerers and you have the perfect mix for a classic paranormal romance.
The story is well written with plenty of menage a trois sex and a healthy share of non-sexual action as well and it works very hard to lay the groundwork for a bigger story.
I'm not entirely convinced I'd be willing to sign on for a trillogy or longer series, but I'll certainly check out Bianca's website to have a look at what else she's written.

Allie learns the truth about her mother and father(s). She also learns that her own life is in danger, that shifters exist and that she´s more capable than she thought. Being initiated on the eve of Samhain opens her eyes for all sorts of things. Soon she fights with her mates, the fey and vampires against an ancient evil.
Had some trouble getting through this, lots of smexin between Allie and her shifter mates, Rafe and Tim. It did get easier at the end when they added Dante, the vampire, and the end fight. 3,5 Stars

A very HOT book. Strictly for adults. Allie is a young magical priestess just discovering her destiny. Bettina, her mentor takes her to a ceremony where she is introduced to her mates. They are the twin Lords of all the Were. The idea of having two men is daunting, but she falls in love with both.Danger is stalking them in the form of an evil mage. He enlists a vampire to help him, but when the vampire realizes what is happening things change. There is a good storyline as well as a lot of very steamy sex scenes.

3 1/2 | I'm surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did. There were quite a few moments that had me rolling my eyes, times that had me saying "how convenient" or "of coooourse he did". There was also no buildup for the love between the main characters, it just kinda happened. I never really connected with any of the main characters, but I did connect with supporrting characters. I enjoyed the story and the world D'arc is creating here, and I am definitely going to read the next in this series.

Mmmm. What to say. Was OK but not worth keeping the book. The story is nice and boxed in with bad guy against good animal weres, redeemed vampire and rescued by chance fey.
I have no interest in reading the next book in the series because I lost interest after the few lac luster sex scenes that touched on Dom/Sub but never really broke into it fully.
Her characters are good and defined but what you would expect of a vanilla romance.
