KLIM

Rate this book
As one of Australia's most celebrated athletes, Michael Klim's impact extends far beyond the pool.

Klim's journey to greatness began behind the Iron Curtain, in communist-era Poland. His family made a bid for freedom in the 1980s and immigrated to Australia, where swimming became his passport into a new culture and eventually led him to become one of his adopted country's great sporting heroes.

His crowning moment came at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he captured the hearts of millions with his gold medal performances and world record-breaking swims.

But being a champion athlete does not come without personal challenges. Beyond his achievements in the pool, Klim's life has been equally compelling. Through transitions in the business world, family life and major health trials, his natural buoyancy kept him afloat - until he faced a crisis that forced him to reassess his life and fight for his future.

From the heights of Olympic glory to the depths of personal adversity, KLIM is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance and the unsinkable human spirit.

'An inspiring and sometimes shocking insight into the man behind the medals.' IAN THORPE

'Michael Klim's finest moment isn't Olympic glory - it's the courage he summoned to share himself so honestly in this sports memoir for the ages.' RICH ROLL

Summed Up: A Tale Of Inspiring Resilience

- - -
It was so nice to dive back into the audiobook world after a break and I went straight for my go to audio genre - sporting memoirs.

What a way to dive back in. KLIM didn’t just float by, this book made waves! 🌊

I recently listened to Michael speaking on an episode of the #JamesAndAshleyStayAtHome about his Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) diagnosis and I knew I had to hear more from him.

Normally, audiobooks are my multitasking buddies. But not this one. Every time I had to pause - to open a paddock gate or turn on the vacuum - I was annoyed to step away. I didn’t want to miss a second of this story!

This memoir was one of the best I’ve read. Perfectly timelined, deeply personal and packed with behind the scenes insights that left me completely engrossed.

Michael’s dedication to his sporting passion, even when moving from country to country and the obvious friendships he had with his team mates formed majority of the story and was so nice to listen to.

Michael’s achievements can only be described as legendary. From dominating the pool to building a business and navigating family life, his journey is awe inspiring. But the part that resonated with me the hardest was his fight against CIDP, his resilience and the incredible work he’s doing now through his foundation.

If you’re looking for an empowering story about triumph, grit and what it means to overcome, this memoir is a must read/listen. Michael Klim isn’t just a swimmer - he’s an inspiration. 🏊‍♂️✨

Oh, and can we just take a moment for how sweet it is when celebrities like Michael respond to a little Instagram story? The kindest touch for this fangirl moment 💙

I’m not usually a non-fiction Autobiography reader, but I literally could not put this down. As an Australian, I thank Michael Klim for representing my country and doing us so very proud in the international swimming community. His determination, doggedness, resilience, courage and hard work has been truly inspiring from his swimming career through to recent challenges. Thank you Mr Klim for everything.

I grew up watching Michael Klim in the pool.

so I really enjoy learning about the path he took to become an Olympic swimmer.

as well as learning about his life at the moment.
