Terry is rich, attractive, and all dom. When he sees something he likes, he gets it. His women are hot, successful, and experienced in BDSM. Until he meets Maggie. She’s not at all his usual type. She’s round, lush, and a hot mess of a woman. It’s obvious she doesn’t belong at La Petite Mort Club, and she needs someone to look out for her. She’s a little rabbit in a club full of predators.
When she gets herself into a situation, he has no choice but to rescue her. When he realizes that she’s a natural submissive and innocent of the kinkier side of sex, he’ll stop at nothing to have her. Maggie had no idea that the club she was going to was a “sex” club. She tries not to look, but there are people doing it everywhere. She is not getting turned on by it. Not at all. Really, she isn’t. She needs to find her friend and get out of there.
But that’s easier said than done. Not only has she bumped into just about every person in the club, but one of the men—a very handsome and extremely rude stranger—not only follows her, but suggests that they “do it” in the hallway. As if she’d ever do something like that. She’s a recently divorced mother of three, not some wild, young woman. She tells him, in no uncertain terms, what she thinks of his suggestion, but then she finds herself in a dangerous situation.
Will the rude stranger save her, or will he turn out to be even more dangerous than the others?
If you enjoy erotic romantic comedy, then you'll love this story. Most of us can relate to Maggie, a curvy, divorced, single mother of three who yearns to feel like a woman—sexy and desired. Terry is just the alpha male dom who's ready to show her how hot and good it can be between them. This is the second chance for both of them, but are either of them brave enough to risk it all for love?
Terry And Maggie's Story Brings Together Two Very Real Characters, Lonely In Their Own Ways, Who Both Need Rescuing.
Terry, in his mid forties, uses his brain by day. At the club, however, he follows a different body part. Tall, dark, and terribly handsome, he is very fit for his age and is a sharp dresser. But he is also rude and crass - though he might prefer to call it brutally honest. He hasn't chased a woman in years; they come to him willingly. As a dominant, his control is famous. He may be arrogant, but he has earned that label.
Terry had been burned by his ex-wife years ago. After twelve years of marriage, Morgan had walked away with the house, his cars, his law firm, the kids, and some valued friendships. He knows from experience that lies abound in divorce. Today he is a hard-nosed divorce attorney and has reconstructed his life. He has a successful practice, has rebuilt his wealth, and vows never to marry again.
Terry may avoid commitment, but he has a healthy appetite for kink. After his divorce he became a member of La Petite Mort Club, a private club catering to those with similar interests and offering a safe place to meet up and indulge. Terry had practically lived at the club outside of office hours or courtroom appearances, but recently he has spent more time at home. He enjoys the company of his dog, but loneliness is beginning to settle in his life. He hopes to find a new sub to train and enjoy, which should help to fill the void. His women are typically tall, athletic, and put together CEO types with experience. The kind that knows what they want and that likes to be in charge. He loves the challenge.
Maggie, in her mid thirties, is lonely. After her divorce over a year ago, her life began to crumble. She works as a hostess at Outback to support her three kids, ages two through eight, but struggles to put food on the table. Her rusted car keeps breaking down so her job is in jeopardy. And she needs to move. She has always tried to do the right thing. She goes to church and had married her college sweetheart, yet she cannot seem to catch a break. And her self-esteem doesn't help matters. She has yet to lose the baby weight from when little Davey was born. David, her ex, hadn't wanted her anymore because she was fat, so she is keenly aware of how unattractive she has become.
Her pride is a powerful motivator, though. Combined with her stubbornness, she keeps going despite her many challenges. But if she were honest with herself, she would love to have a man in her life, someone to lean on and share her life with. She is in a bit of a romantic quandary, however. She isn't in a position to have flings - not as a single mother. And she doesn't have time for a relationship. When Vicky Givens, her ex-sister-in-law, reaches out to invite Maggie to an evening out, she is thrilled that her old friend wants to remain in her life and happy to have adult company for an evening.
When Terry runs into a wide-eyed, fearful, hot mess of a woman at the club during an open night event, in which guests are welcomed, he knows immediately that not only is it the woman's first time at the club, but she is completely out of her element. Despite the fact that she is not his type - she is short and curvy and innocent-looking - he is drawn to the scared little rabbit, a natural submissive.
Maggie panicks when she realizes the kind of club her friend asked to meet her at. She frantically searches for Vicky to no avail, but just when she really needs help, a handsome stranger comes to her rescue. He tells her flat out that he wants her, making her blush, but as tempting as the opportunity to be with a man again is, she just cannot bring herself to say yes.
Terry and Maggie's story brings together two very real characters, lonely in their own ways, who both need rescuing. The Dom's Submission is written three parts. The first part is the story of Terry's seduction of Maggie. The second is the story of Terry and Maggie's struggle to define their relationship. The third installment of Terry and Maggie's story turns angsty as the divide between the couple becomes a deep chasm. Terry's crass comments and Maggie's stubborn independence create an enticing tension, while Terry's friends are heartily entertained by his jealousy and sudden change in taste, making him an easy target for their jests.
Bound by their pasts, neither can cross the divide that separates them without hurting themselves. Terry is paralyzed from the loss he experienced following his divorce years ago, while Maggie struggles to maintain her independence and minimize her vulnerability following her recent divorce, a task complicated by the fact that she is a single mom of three young children. Taking a time-out for self-evaluation is necessary, but not without its own risks. The couple eventually earns a touching HEA!
This story is an easy read - sweet and sexy, angsty and heartwarming. The POV alternates between Terry and Maggie, though much of the story belongs to Terry, who has silently suffered for years. It is written in the third person. The plot is light but sufficiently developed. The characters are nicely defined given the length, although it would be nice to know more about Maggie. Terry's friends from La Petite Mort Club play an important supporting role for both Terry and Maggie. I rate this book four stars.
Wow this book get so hot you may need a cold shower I absolutely could not get enough of this I was hooked from the first page great writing job bravo loved it and if anyone is looking a steamy wonderful read then add this one to your list you will not be disappointed I was not, I loved it
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I will admit that I hated Terry after reading Nick and Sarah's story. He was rude and mean. Terry calls it being honest. So, I was not planning on reading this series until I read an excerpt from the beginning. I had to know what happened as Terry ended up following Maggie, his rabbit, during a visit to the club. I dove in and couldn't put it down.
This story has two characters who have been chewed up and spit out by marriage and are picking up the pieces the best they can to keep going on. Maggie has 3 kids she is doing her best to support on her own while working a job that doesn't cover the bills. Terry doesn't do relationships, he does arrangements and he is eager to have Maggie as his new sub. They are magic together until the rest of the world creeps in to their bubble. Both are so desperate to never be hurt again, they continue to push the other away even as they want to pull the other closer.
A great story about starting over and finding love where you least expect it with the author's signature heat and steam.
I am not usually so effusive but I absolutely adore this series and the follow ups. Ellis O Day writes about characters that are real, that hook you in and that you root for. What more could you ask for? Steamy sex and a will they/won't they theme. Terry follows his head in business, never follows his heart because that got broken and so follows another part of his anatomy for relationships; when he meets Maggie it is that part of him that is drawn to her, but she has responsibilities and while she is very attracted to Terry, she doesn't want to be a one-night stand, but Terry thinks she a natural Sub and plans on making her his for as long as he wants her. This is not only an erotic story which will make your eyes open wide, it is also a tender love story. I read it, read the three follow-up stories, then read them all again in the right order, and I read the start of this again as it is so compulsive.
From Terry’s dislike of red dresses on Valentine’s Day to not wanting to meet his “rabbit’s” kids, he fell hard. At times, his attitude and arrogance were exasperating. Having decided to be with a woman with principles and decency, he then has no clue why she refuses to take money and extravagant gifts from him just so his life will be easier. Her refusal to accept any help at all was just as frustrating. It did turn out that what Terry needed most was a woman with a little backbone and what she needed was someone who could be there for her when she needed it most. Happily ever after can happen even for the most stubborn of people.
I was drawn in by the first book in Terry and Maggie's story but, a bit disappointed in the other two books. Terry is a completely selfish disrespectful and annoying man and Maggie forgives him too easily only to be hurt by his words and actions again. She is also is too much of a pushover with her ex-husband and work to be completely likable for me.
Strong start that fizzled out. I thought there was a lot of potential for actual plot in this book but it ended up becoming a merry go round of fights with Maggie and Terry and really rushed at the end.
I seriously loved this series. The author writes realistic, relatable characters that don’t just instantaneously change when they fall in love.
I adore the main character (wish I’d gotten to see more of her interaction with her kids but they still seemed adorable) because she has body image issues and is realistic about the fact she’s not some supermodel on a magazine cover, she’s just a woman and even though she struggles with self image it’s not an immediate “I’m the sexiest woman alive” when she falls in love, it takes work on both her and her partners part to help her grow into being comfortable in her own skin.
The storyline was so much fun, back and forth drama that seemed very real world and had me gobbling up the books. It took me a few weeks to read them cause I would pause here and there for a break from all the steam!
5/5⭐️, I would definitely recommend. This is the first series of hers that I’ve ever read and Ellis O. Day has just become one of my favourite authors.
If you like kink you will like this book. This book is Terry's book and all starts in La Petite Mort Club of course and Terry who is a Dom looks up and sees what appears to be a frightened woman in the club. He goes to help her and in order to do so he has to follow her. Oh the little rabbit, as Terry has taken to call this women in his head leads him on a merry chase throughout the club and into one of the rooms that she really should not be going into. Terry goes into get her out and causes a scene, not of the BDSM kind at all. Seems that little rabbit is Maggie and she was tricked into coming into the Club by her ex-sister in law. Terry knows a natural sub when he sees one but Maggie, well she wants noting to do with him. So he has to trend lightly and slowly and for some reason he really wants to get to know her. Life takes on new meaning with his little rabbit in the picture. This is a really good book with all the honest speak as my husband says.
Terry is a hunky, divorced, middle-aged, quintessential dom. Maggie is a fluffy, divorced, single mom with three young kids who gets tricked into going to a sex club by her ex-sister-in-law. Terry saved her from a rather tense situation with a group of young member wannabees who don't embrace the club Rule #1: consent of all parties. Terry is enchanted by Maggie's naivete. She's shy but curious, but most of all reluctant to succumb to Terry's charms because of her kids and her "fluff."
Needless to say, Terry, gritting his teeth because he's not a very patient dom, convinces Maggie of his sincerity and unleashes her inner vixen. But there are myriad obstacles between lust, love and a HEA.
I highly recommend this book, along with all the rest in the Le Petit Mort Club series, because there remains a slight cliffhanger at the end...not a serious downer, but it will make you want to read Terry and Maggie's continuing saga.
when it was good, it was great and when it was attempting to be complex and build a story it was weird and immature. i enjoyed seeing the two characters work through their own stubbornness which is something many in love (fiction and in real life) are y comfortable with seeing and facing — i get it. however, between maggie coming off as big breasted, naïve, sexually confusing, fertile 30 yr old and terry just straight up being a textbook dom with many lights on but no one home except the dog who magically doesn’t eat or exercise or bark. the ex-husband is a coon and the new wife is a yt woman that terry couldn’t buy way back yonder but somehow sticks around for like, i don’t know really lmao. anyway, great listen. kept me thoroughly entertained.
If you don't mind BDSM you will like this one. I enjoyed the story line. Woman has been divorced recently her name is Maggie. Maggie is invited to this BDSM club by her sister in law but she can't find her. The reason she couldn't find her is because she's not there. Terry one of the owners see's her and is interested in her so he decides to follow her around because he doesn't think she knows what she wants or what she is doing or has gotten into. So starts the beginning of the possible Dom Sub relationship between them. I enjoyed the plot of this story. Recommend this series.
I enjoyed the premise for this story. The single recently divorced mom looking for a connection. And the gruff cut off divorcee just looking for a good time.
I just couldn’t get on board with some of the content. Like the Club has strict rules in place for consent yet throughout the book Terry was like a spoilt child not getting his own way and trying to manipulate Maggie into sex. It was hypocritical to me.
I liked the idea that he was scared to be vulnerable after his experience but if his attitude had been a bit different during the story I might have felt a bit more sorry for him
This is the first of this author's books I've read. It was a lot milder and way more vanilla than I was expecting/hoping but I'd still read another to see if this is the norm for Ellis I really liked Maggie. The fact she's older with kids, cellulite and a few extra kg makes a welcome change from the usual young, body perfect sub. I also love her hesitantly and doubts, warring with her natural submissive instincts. Terry I wasn't so keen on. I didn't like he didn't explain things to her before they scened and I absolutely hated his second rule. I liked his dominance even though the kink was pretty vanilla. His arrogance was distinctly off-putting as well.
I liked everything except Terry and when he's the main character it taints the rest. He's stubborn rude, refuses to listen, refuses to admit he's wrong, and he's selfish. In not even sure he's changed by the end. And Maggie doesnt wantnto be a door stop but just keeps conong backnfor more. How mamy chances do you give someone wjen they keep hurtingbyou thebsame way. Doms are supposed to listen and give a sub what they need, all Terry does is focus on what he wants regardless of being told over and over. So this book was a no from me.
Honestly reading/listening to a smutty book has never been my cup of tea but I’ve always heard good things about them. And I can understand why.
We meet Terry, who is a regular at a club. He meets Maggie, who looks lost at the club. He helps her, but he wants her to be his sub. The 3 parts are about their relationship together and everything that he wants and she needs. How an unlikely duo can make the perfect partnership. And all the fun kinky things in between!
Loved this book. Every word, all the situations are so true to life. Steamy, funny, lively, a MUST read. This book is Ellis O'Day at her best. Great full developed characters that you want to personally know. Terry is a complicated man who has a lot to learn and Maggie needs to heal from a bad marriage. They find the answers to the painful lessons in their friends and each other if the can just trust.
If Maggie tell Terry to get out one more time😂😂. Their communication was so bad. I love how they loved each other but afraid to admit it. I truly understood how she was so resistant by him taking care of her
I wanted to see David suffer more. She and the kids deserved so much more from David. I wanted to see David find out about Maggie and Terry and she how it affected him.
Terry, a dom who insists on taking care of his “little rabbit”. But Maggie “little rabbit”, enjoys being taken care of… but she is also a very independent woman who doesn’t want to be left high and dry like her ex husband left her.
The author has written an amazing series that leaves you all the “feels” along with HOT AND STEAMY.
I read all three books in a day. A few things I've noticed is a lack of question mark when there's a question & some misplaced commas.
Neither take away from how great these books are. Ughhh Terry sounds so unbelievably hot. Thinking about reading Ethan's story next. . Ethan intrigued me. 😍
Plenty of spice with a very good plot. It's wonderful to have a truly good author in a genre where many are subpar. With Ellis O. Day you get lots of sexy scenes in a book with a real plot and fully-fledged characters. I especially love getting to know the recurring characters as individuals from series to series.
Excellent story, excellent writing, excellent entertainment. What a great read. I could not put the book down. Maggie and Terry forever. I was rooting for them throughout the entire book. Their ups and downs were so to true to life. The author writes steamy scenes that you can picture in your mind and the dialog fits them to a tee. Thank you for te copy of this terrific book.
New to this author & new to this subject matter...oh how fun & sexy to read. Kept me captivated to the end & now looking forward to the other offerings & series. So much going on with the character dynamics, their past, their friends & their connection to the club. Highly recommend this if you are ready for a HOT read. (Reviewed by Lin)
I love how Ellis writes her stories. I would consider this a light intro to Dom/sub stories because while it’s clearly part of the story line, there’s nothing that reads “hardcore.” Her other stories from La Petite Mort club are equally fabulous. I would recommend her series as a starter for anyone who is curious about different kinks. Fun and educational smut!
It was a good read. The only thing I felt was a little cringy was the constant calling the main character big. I don't mind it being said once, and then we all move past it because she is gorgeous as is, but it never happened, in my opinion. I felt like throughout all 3 books, it was a constant thing. Also, saying "damnit" was annoying. The story without those things was great though.
This book is sizzling hot!!! Terry and Maddie are quickly falling in love and everything that happens is just so exciting, from their encounters to the fights. Oh la la!!! ❤️
The queen of smut. This story grabbed me from the beginning. It has a HEA. I Can't wait to read others stories from this series. I recommend it to those who like to read about Dom and subs.
Another great series from the author. Enjoyed this book as much as the previous two series. Loved the returning characters and storyline. Looking forward to the next book!!
A wonderful sexy story! Was hard to put down, lol just wished it to go on and on. Definitely worth buying! Can't wait to read more from this author! It was a great story with plenty of sex but good story with it. I know I will be rereading again soon.
