Life is about survival-not romance-but her Vahking Prince never got the memo.
While I'm searching for my missing brother, I find myself in a dark alley with the wrong people. Too bad the hero that saves me is no better. He thinks he can win me over with sweet words, but I show him that I'm a girl of action . . . by ditching his ass.
Unfortunately, fate isn't easy to ignore. The Vahking Prince Rune's blood sang for me, and now I'm in his sights.
My family and my past keep me away from others, but Rune makes me forget all the lessons I learned to protect myself. Dammit.
Now, I'm starting to see there is only one destiny for me-at his side.
Will Rune be the one man who can break into my stone heart . . . or will my past push him away, too?
We met Rune in Horde Queen where he almost overthrew his brother for mating a human. Rune is a master manipulator but he finally got caught and put in house arrest.. Horde Bride happens after he is released and given a job as a kind of community service. He is to oversee the building of a choosing lodge for humans to meet Vahkings and hope to feel the Blood Song. One day after inspecting the progress on the lodge, Rune leaves and hears a woman screaming. He investigates and finds a human woman being attacked by two aliens. Rune comes to her rescue and is shocked to find out that the woman is his Blood Song. He does everything he can to flirt with her and get her attention but Norah is on a mission and has no time to waste. Rune can't turn his back on his Blood Song and goes along to help and protect her.
Norah didn't come to the Vahking moon to find a mate. She is trying to track down her younger brother who stole her dying grandfather's coin collection before he sells it. Her brother Lyle had gotten a construction job on the Vahking moon and she travels there to hunt him down. When an alien offers to take her to her brother Norah goes with him until he and his friend try to kidnap her. Luckily she is rescued by Rune. However when he tells her that she is his, she ignores him. She has no time to deal with this nonsense. Besides what is this Blood song thing all about anyway?
This is a fun series and I liked watching Rune work for his HEA. I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
You really get to know Rune and Norah's minds within the first chapters, and it isn't rushed between them. Their relationship feels more natural between them as they've talked and know each other at least a bit before falling into bed.
Rune telling his part of why he tried to sabotage Thor was a letdown, though. I wanted to really get his side of it, hear what he had to say when he was explaining it to another person. Not just his feelings. And I wanted Norah's reaction! We don't get even a little bit of what she thought about what she was told. It was glossed over and disappointing.
The storyline works up to the pinnacle moment when we figure out why the mobster wanted Earth coins. I will say that it did fall a little flat and rushed going through finding Lyle and the reason why the coins were so important. I didn't really get a clear picture of what was happening, and it was a bit confusing as I read it. It's treated like a small blip in the book rather than a huge part of the book. It's the whole reason Norah ended up there, so I feel it needed a bit more attention to detail there.
I wanted to also meet Norahs twin sisters and grandfather and get a bit more of their personalities. How did Grandpa get there, too? I thought he was on deaths door?
Also, what exactly happens to Yenk? That's just left up in the air, and I'm curious.
Overall, this book is good, and I enjoyed reading it.
I couldn't finish it. I tried for 4 days to do so. A good portion of the storyline seemed just too improbable. I truly wanted to like this book, even though I wasn't a real fan of the first one. No real chemestry between Rune and Norah. There were just too many issues with the writing. Again, a lot of internal dialogue. Assumptive jumps within the scenes, like Lyle assumes Rune was rich and powerful without even being introduced. Or Norah knowing two total strangers walking and talking about someone getting blown up and just knowing that they were talking about Lyle??? Why did Lyle run from her??? I thought that was a bit of a stretch. Then, when MY internal dialgue said "enough", it was during the undercover bar scene. Possessive Rune protects Norah from being harassed by bar patrons and supposedly blowing their cover. As a waitress and employee, can she can really just walk out of the bar without letting anyone know she is leaving??? Upside to this book in the series is the sex scenes don't out weight the storyline. Downside is the storyline isn't good enough to keep my attention until the end of the book. Celia Kyle's previous books energetic and colorful writing style is sorely missed in this collaboration with Anne Hale. I received an ARC from these authors and am freely leaving this review.
Enjoyable second book in this series, I know others will enjoy as much as myself This is a wonderful read and I know that you are going to enjoy every moment of this amazing story that was a great continuation to this simply fantastic story and I am sure that other readers will enjoy it as much as I have. The Vahking Horde series continues to hold you with its robust characters and I know that you will enjoy reading about Norah who had a variety of moods and happenings I guarantee you will enjoy it immensely. And General Lyle may not be the easiest character to like or even understand at times but stick with it and you will enjoy this book thoroughly. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Disclosur, I have not had the chance to read the others within this series, BUT this particular one is incridible! I read this in one day-night and at the end I wished there was so much more. So, I went and downloaded the rest of the series to get my fix! Rune, where do I even start? In the beginning his was overly self centered and in times exteremly mean for no reason. But I am happy to say that at the end of it all he turned into a reasonalbe man. As for Norah, she was a hard one for me to really like, so my hopes are that the other FMC's in the rest of the series are better at making me like them. I want to dive into more detail but that would ruin the book so rather than that why not go give it a try!
Norah is in search of her wayward younger brother. She plans to catch up with him and make him return something he took without permission and drag him back home. Easier said than done. Norah finds herself on another planet and in trouble. Luckily, for her Rune intervenes and offers her some assistance. When the blood song hits, Rune is immediately preoccupied with finding his mate. Meanwhile, Norah just wants to find her brother. Rune being the trickster he is, finds himself in cahoots with Norah on her search all while trying to get closer and under Norah's skin. Lots of misadventure come into play.
I am leaving a voluntary review after receiving an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was another entertaining read for this new series and I love that it was Rune getting his comeuppance. Lol! He was not the best character in book one but he sure went through some character growth in here to become a sweet and loving mate for Norah...if she'll accept him ;P She is fierce and willing to go to the wall for those she loves. On a quest to find her brother, she gets rescued by Rune and while she left him behind, he was quite smitten - and his blood sang for her. You know an HEA is in the works when that happens ;) This was a fun read and I'm enjoying how these stories are unfolding :D
I sat and read this in one go. I did like this book but not as much as the first one in the series. It obviously kept my attention and I liked it in order to devour it in one sitting.
I liked that Rune seemed to have some growth as far as being a self centered jerk to a more reasonable creature. I thought some of the things he said was funny and I liked this book delved more into who Rune was.
Norah is okay. She is no Addy. Addy was great. Norah seems kind of a let down in comparison.
Also it was a little unclear on the overall time frame from the first book to this one until almost the very end.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Rune and Norah were a perfect match, both being strong & steely in their resolve. Norah fiercely cared for family beyond the earth. Rune didn't directly show how important family was, and yet he made things happen to favor his. The trials both had to face to help & understand each other kept me reading. Norah’s brother was there epitome off little brothers. I hope to see more for him.
Horde Bride is the second in a new series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Better than I expected as I was not a Rune fan from the previous book. Norah chasing after her wayward brother and accepting the fact he stole for his own gain was never dealt with. Things just jumped a bit with not enough explanation in a few places about things happening or reasoning for their thinking. When Rune was telling Norah about his past behaviour, I just wanted to hear more of his reasoning for his previous actions. It was glossed over to much. This is my honest review of this book.
This second book in the series tells how whilst Norah is searching for her younger brother whom she plans to drag back home so he can return something he took without permission finds herself on another planet and in lots of trouble.
There she meets Rune who offers her some assistance but when the blood song hits, all Rune can think about is finding his mate. But all Norah wants to do is find her brother. But Rune's something of a trickster and while Norah searches for her brother he's intent on getting closer to Norah.
It was fun to watch Rune get put through his paces. It was nice to see him gain a little humility too. It also makes me happy that Norah is strong and willing to take on anything to protect what she cares about. Even if she is just a human. I have really enjoyed the Vahkings. I can’t say that I am really surprised because I like the Preor too. Sometimes you just need to escape from our reality and
Book 2 of the Vahking Horde Series gives us Prince Rune-Loki Odynson’s story. He wasn’t a likable character from the first book but he redeems himself in this newest release that doesn’t disappoint. Norah is on a mission to find her brother and along the way she meets Rune who helps her, but he has another reason and it’s due to the Blood Song. Will she find her brother and will he convince her to be his? One click to find out in this action packed addition to a new enjoyable series.
Book 2 of the Vahking Horde Series did not elicit any love for the main characters…Rune and Norah. I thought Norah was a bit boring at times. She just did not have any spark in her character. I do love this series and I am hoping the General not Lyle gets book of his own. The plot was superb and it is definitely worth reading. Download and enjoy❤️❤️
This was the first book for me from this series! I love the world the authors build and the MMC. He’s dreamy…sexy, devoted, strong and um who doesn’t love a Vahking?? The plot was good with lots of action but I would have loved more detail as the story builds. I’m going back to read the first book and will read the next as well. Great read!
Norah is not impressed when she first meets Rune, despite him coming to her rescue. She finds him demanding and arrogant, despite being incredibly good looking and a sweet talker. She has a plan and won’t let anything or anyone stop her. Rune, however is completely smitten. He will have his hands full trying to convince her he’s serious…..if he can keep her out of trouble long enough.
I like books that you can read in one sitting. The guys in this series seem to start off as jerks but redeem themselves. Probably the "viking" thing. Norah wasn't a bad character, however, she really didn't pull my attention either. This series has to potential to grow like the Dragons of Preor or Ujal series.
omg this series is getting more and more addictive , i love all the humour in this series , i look forwad to reading more books by celia kyle and anne hayle
Norah and Rune interaction through the book made the story. Will Rune overcome Norah past issues? Will Norah find her brother? I love the story and I cannot wait to read more.
Omg! I need a Vahlong's blood to sing for me. This book was a great second addition to the series!! If you aren't reading these books you are missing out on amazing stories. BUY, BUY, BUY!!!
I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and it kept me engaged. I enjoyed watching these two get to know each other and build a relationship. There is plenty of action going on as well that keeps the pages turning and them having to learn more about each other in order for things to work. This story is the second book in this series and can be read as a standalone. I'm excited for more books to come. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
