This follows Kate who is from a rival pack the Marked Crest shifters looking for answers as her father has said that her brother is dead. Kate isn’t sure and doesn’t know what to think as what her father is saying doesn’t make sense. She travels to the rival Blood Moon pack territory that she and her brother have been visiting for years to talk to the Alpha Kane to see if he knows anything. It doesn’t help she has always been drawn towards him but he has always been fated to someone else.

This was good. I enjoyed the storyline and twists. We also had a lot of characters in play. Kate is a strong FMC discovering and unravelling secrets about herself while being rejected by what feels like a fated mate but is unsure due to the rival situation between packs and where his feelings lie. Love Kane he is a strong alpha who gives off touch her and die vibes. The spice was great quite a few scenes with back-to-back chapters. I do feel like I got lost in the second half of the book though. I had to read a few things again to understand who, what and how. I also was hoping or expecting for the Marked Crest leader or followers to come into play somehow but it mainly follows the Blood Moon pack. Lastly, the ending when the vampire shows up and has dealt with the situation explains a little why but I need more answers as he popped up out of nowhere. Also was hoping for baby wolf content at the end.

I will say I am excited for Maddy and Ax's story as he was very intriguing in the end understanding the author has a few priorities ahead of this though.

I couldn’t make myself continue

It started off well enough.
It was intriguing.
Classic case of guy says something dumb and hurtful and will have to grovel later on type of scenario.

But what I couldn’t stand was the pages of inner monologue. We learn too much because of inner monologues instead of through character’s interactions.

I also disliked what felt like jumps in the scene.
Like we get this great interrogation but then in the middle of it…he runs away because he notices that Kate is missing…and they go and have sex?

There was no finishing the interrogation and wrapping that up. And I felt like that one had important things coming to light.

It doesn’t help that I liked neither Kate nor Kane.

SCREAMING! Crying, throwing up!! This book is literally everything. 10/10- it deserves all the stars!! I’ve been searching for this exact type of omegaverse book for over a year and finally found it!!

I’m familiar with NE Henderson’s contemporary romance and love them so when I saw she wrote a shifter book. I jumped on it soooo fast and I’m so stoked that I did. The first night I picked this up I was up until 6am before I finally fell asleep with my kindle in my hands 🤣 it’s that good! Super bing worthy, I didn’t want it to ever end. I needed another 500 pages of Kate and Kane. This book is for sure going to become a huge comfort read for me 🫶🏼

I neeed another book in this series like I need oxygen! I need more this book was so freaking addicting. I was literally giddy and all smiles reading the last chapter. Kane and Kate are just freaking everything. This book literally encompassed everything I love in shifter romances and it was just perfect. The plot was plotting and the spice was seriously spicing.

Let's get the positives out first. The smut was really good.

That's all.

Now onto the bads. First, I don't like the writing. It comes off as a little cringey (and not even the good kind of cringe). I found the dialogues stilted, the romance underdeveloped and the character developments almost inexistent. And the plot. It's not good. I don't even think we have a true plot here. Nothing even comes to a climax. That little graph plot, the one we all learned in school about story progression in our essays class, it seemed that it slipped this author mind. Because, what the hell is that plot? You introduced the big villain but nothing concrete happened to them on page. There was nothing substantial about this story and it maddened me because I really like the smut.

What a shame.

first book of 2025! I love a fated mate, found family (sorta), strong female character when she is written well. And I liked Kate, she was maybe my favorite out of EVERYONE in this entire book. Kane........ Pissed me off, and my favorite part about him in this book was when he was on his knees showing is neck in submission to Kate and begging/pleading for her to forgive him. Because if you were really someone else's mate then you wouldn't have even entertained the thought of sleeping with someone else???? but that's just me though. I definitely was getting confused about who's who in this book that's for sure, I'm still unsure of whose Kate's parents are tbh, and then the twist at the end doesn't really make sense. I mean she gave us 1 page talking about this vampire and the 10 pages later now he will have a standalone book about himself.... Sure, friend that makes sense!

Some of the grammar and vocabulary was a bit elementary for my taste, a LOT of repeats. Reading "alpha power" over, over, over, over, over, over again really had me cringing because it was so overused that it kind of became a joke... but I finished it and definitely will be reading the next one!

A whole different look into a wolf shifter world. I devoured this book.
Following Kate a wolf and badass FMC who has always felt lost and finds more than just a place to call home.

This book has some great twists leaving me asking questions that soon were answered, oh and a lot of spice.

Surprise, there are more magical creatures in this book than wolves. I cannot wait for the next book.

A War of Hearts and Fate is a fantastic book that has wolf shifters that are fated mates, a plot that contains a rejection twist, a FMC who falls first and can kick tail, a MMC who falls harder and knows how to grovel but still stands his ground, the spice is so well done and includes primal play and the ending may have been abrupt but did we just get a teaser of the next book? One can only hope...


Kane is the Alpha of his Bloodmoon pack. He found his fated mate at the young age of 8 but then lost her. Twenty years later his mate still hasn't been found but he has been fighting a strong attraction to Kate, a woman from a rival pack.

Kate and her brother have been visiting the Bloodmoon pack for 5 years. She has made her attraction to Kane well known but he keeps turning her down because of his long lost mate.

When she is told that her brother is dead she runs to Kane and his pack for help. The attraction between them is burning so hot that they get tangled up against any and all surfaces while Kane marks her.

Then he rejects her and tells her to never return. However, when he gets news about Kate and her true identity he will do anything to get her back. But when he does, he realizes their night had consequences and now Kane knows that groveling won't be the only thing he has to do to keep her.

Fast-paced and easy-to-read fated mates, wolf shifter romance.

The first few chapters felt a bit choppy, however, the storyline and writing improved as the narrative progressed.

Unfortunately, the last few chapters weren’t my favorite, and there were some weird character decisions, like in the middle of interrogating the bad guys, both FMC & MMC just leave.

I liked Kate as an FMC. I appreciated her personality and overall how she handled the situations. But I wasn’t a fan of Kane as an MMC. Many times, Kane’s decisions as an alpha didn’t make sense, and he was just making things worse for himself and his pack.

The world-building could have been more thorough, especially regarding the dynamics between wolf packs and their issues with each other. Additionally, the presence of hunters was mentioned but not really explored.

One drawback was the reliance on inner monologue over dialogue, which detracted from the storytelling.

Overall, there were some parts I really enjoyed but also a lot of parts and decisions that I didn’t like.

There were many unanswered questions, and hopefully, some of them will be addressed in the next book. I'm curious to see where the story leads and would consider reading the next book.

A war of Hearts and Fate is a new story by N.E. Henderson and is just fantastic❣️Kate is an alpha female and suddenly finds out her brother has been killed…not understanding how this could have happened or why her connection to him is still there - she questions everything and finds herself going to the one person she is attracted to and trusts to get answers.

Kane is the alpha of his pack and even though he’s fated to be someone else’s mate, he has an intense attraction to Kate that he doesn’t understand. They foolishly give in to their desires which goes belly up😢

Nancy is by far a fabulous storyteller and I for one vote for more books in this series😍 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review🐺

This was a first for me from this author, and I really enjoyed it!
This is a fast paced fated mates/rejected mates book.
This story was full of twists and turns and had me desperate to know what was next.

Two rival packs with deep hatred for each other l, end up entwined in ways nobody would have ever expected.

Kate and her brother Trez found their way across the boarder into the enemy territory only to not feel like their enemy at all. They are drawn to this pack, and they’re unsure why. They never felt they fit in with their pack so they didn’t fight the pull. As relationships grew, feelings started to develop.
Kate is in love with Kane, and being she’s younger than him she has to watch him from the sidelines knowing she will never have a chance with the alpha.
Kane lost his fated mate when he was a kid after she was kidknapped, so he won’t allow himself to feel the things towards Kate that he wants too. But once he finally gives in, he messes it all up with harsh words and makes the biggest mistake of his life.

Kate was easy to like, she was strong and sassy but not overbearing.
Kane is your typical alpha, puts his pack first and loves deeply. But also kind of arrogant.
When these two finally came together it was explosive, their chemistry was amazing.
I loved the side characters, they added so much to the story. Ash with all her sass, Jasper and Trez with their sexual tension. (I would love to get their story!)

I wish there was more to this story because I wasn’t ready for it to be over.

Engaging and fast paced read from start to finish. I absolutely adore a fated mates, particularly with a rejected mates twist, and this absolutely satiated a craving I’ve had. This is a must read for anyone who loves a rejected mates & fated mates shifter romance.

This read was so refreshing after a string that have missed the mark. Character development and world building is such a crucial piece of any novel, and this was very well done. Kate and Kane’s scenes had me on the edge of my seat as I waited with bated breath to see where they would end up. Kate’s spitfire attitude and woman in control personality brought dimension to the novel, as she wasn’t just another girl waiting to be saved. She was going to solve her own problems. Kane’s dedication to his mate broke my heart as I watched him struggle with wanting joy for himself and being loyal to someone he wasn’t sure was even alive. I absolutely loved watching these two fall in love with each other, and cannot wait to see their story bloom more in the next book as side characters.

The spice level in this book was hot hot hot 🔥🌶️. I couldn’t stop myself from blushing at many of their actions and found it to be *chef’s kiss* worthy. This one was one of the spiciest I’ve read in a while and I felt that the line was beautifully found between very spicy, and no plot. This book had a wonderful plot running through and that was not sacrificed or forgotten in the name of adding a chili pepper or two.

This was not your typical rejected mates book as it had such a unique spin. This beautifully woven two person love triangle had me completely enthralled. It was beautifully refreshing to see something done in a way I’ve never seen before. 🤩

Absolutely incredible read, I hands down recommend for any one who loves fated mates, shifters, rejected mates, and a groveling MMC. ✨

I liked the premise and the pack politics, especially how Kane leads with quiet strength—he could’ve been explored more as an alpha with wisdom and presence.

What made me lower the rating: the mate bond between male characters really threw me off, even though the main pairing is straight. I personally don’t enjoy that kind of twist in a book I picked up for a steamy alpha x heroine dynamic.

Also, the sex scenes felt… too much. Not in a good way. Like, “again?” I wanted more balance, more tension, more story. It lost its heat when it started to feel like filler.

Still, the world has potential, and I appreciated the layers of power and identity, but I probably won’t

Give me a good shifter story and I'm a happy girl. This is the first time I read from this Author and she didn't disappoint.  Kane is for the Bloodmoon pack and Kate and Trez are from Marked Crest pack.  Many years ago these two pack clashed and it got worst after 2 cubs disappear. Now it's time for Truths to be told and the Fated mates to become one. I don't want to give anything away but I will say I would so read more about any  shifter by this author.

This book was just the thing I needed to start my week. I've read so many wolf shifter books, and N.E. Henderson does not disappoint. This book has everything you could want: variety of supernaturals - ✔️ great plot - ✔️ relatable protagonist - ✔️ and, like most of us want, spice - ✔️

I honestly could not put the book down!

A War of Hearts and Fate is all about resilience and desire. With a fiercely independent, oh-so-funny FMC who grapples with her own self-doubts, this story delves into the complexities of strength and vulnerability. The MMC just knows when to grovel, but also when to stand his ground. A typical alpha with just enough of that "let me take care of you" vibe - swoon. The sparks between these two - WOW, from denying their attraction to *spoiler* giving in!!

While the plot is pretty fast-paced, it doesn't sacrifice depth for pace. With an ending that wraps up the original story, it teases what could come and leaves you hungry for more books by N.E. Henderson. 🌌🔥🐺📚

This is a fated mates with a little rejection in it too. This book is about Kate and Kane. Kate is a Luna wolf which means she is an alpha female who could lead a pack one day. She thinks her brother Trez is dead and she is told to go to Kane to have him help her. They are in different packs so he really shouldn't take her in but he does. He has been attracted to her but she isn't his fated mate that was Anna and she has been missing for a long time.

This book is a medium paced book, lots of adult moments and mates.

The only thing that I didn't like in the book was that the MC were named Kate and Kane. They couldn't have had any other names. I literally almost didn't finish it since names that close bother me a lot. The story line was a little predictable to me. Also why did Kane sleep with her when he knows about wolved in heat. There were lots of miscommunication and parts that if they would have stopped to listen would have worked out better.

Overall, it was an okay book. The writing was good and drew you in but there were things that I personally couldn't get over.

I felt sad for Kate and Kane and the time that they lost, I appreciated how bad Kane felt and that he tried to make amends but I also felt that the whole misunderstanding was out of their hands. I like how everything wrapped up well in the end. The supporting characters were great additions to the story, and I look forward to reading any of their stories that may be written.

Ah, NE Henderson has done it again with some great writing. After reading her mafia books I wasnt sure what to expect, but there was no disappointment at all.
We have a true alphahole, a fierce female lead as well as some perfect grovelling.

This was my first read by N.E. Henderson and it was fantastic! This is definitely a steamy shifter romance through and through, and is really beautiful story surrounding fated mates + high stakes (with some surprising twists!).

I’m giving this book 3.5 stars. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it though there was something missing for me. Idk what it was or if it was the way the story somewhat progressed but I just didn’t fall in love with it completely. I did enjoy the storyline and ofc Kate/Anna and her brother Trez/Trey but thinking on it a good bit of things got to me.

Like for me I enjoy suspense a bit and mystery in books like these and don’t wanna be able to guess the biggest conflict and whatnot right off the jump but I did. I knew Trez was Trey and Kate was Anna despite them being long lost. I literally first guessed it within the first couple of chapters. But despite that I love how it was written for them to be hidden and whatnot with the magic tattoo and whatnot. It was definitely fascinating in that way.

Another thing that I didn’t fully enjoy was how quick each of their parents are to try to overrun the pack and take it back from their sons, Jagger and Kane. That truly irritated me bc you spent your whole lives preparing them for this moments yet when it no longer suits you can how you want to run the pack you decide to take it back. Kinda fucked to me. I mean besides Annalise who is Kate and Jaggers mom. But like the rest of them just ridiculous. And don’t get me started on when Kate ripped out Ron’s throat bc he fully deserves that shit and it’s not like the parents didn’t somewhat know what he did. And even if not you just found your DAUGHTER and know it’s her after years of her being away and yall have known the type of ppl they are for the past 5 let’s really think about that before just assuming she attacked a “pack member” for no good reason. Like wtf some dad. I mean I get pack comes first in these books but I mean come onnnn. Idk I felt like in the end she forgave him kinda quick over that but 🤷🏼‍♀️

And another thing was the mate thing. Idk I felt like you should know when someone is your mate I just felt like Kane was a bit oblivious I can understand why Kate would be bc her pack sucked ass when trying to teaching females anything. That whole situation was just a mess. Physically can’t deal. It was rather played out a bit to me.

Also I would’ve enjoyed learning more about Kate and what being an Alpha female means. Or being a Luna like that means bc she literally overpowered Kanes whole pack and even him to some extent. I felt like the whole book explained how much of a badass she was but I would’ve liked to see her in action more. I mean even the pregnancy thing kinda thru me for a loop a little.

And idk maybe I’m bloodthirsty but I would’ve liked to seen Kate and her brother Trez get their revenge on the ppl who hurt them most instead of just hearing about them being dead. But that’s just personally for me would’ve made it better.

Then the random vampire and maddy being gone was random as hell but ig an interesting Segway to the next book the author does for that couple but still kinda weird.

Idk there was just so many unanswered things. Like why does Kate have this power and exactly what all can she do with it? How was her supposed “father” as they call him Dick supposed to become immortal using her and her baby? Did Annalise and Elijah ever make up? Will there baby be an Alpha or not? What happened to Veronica’s daughter, Laney after her mom and uncle Ronnie were killed? Why did Dick kidnap both of them if you find out he only really needed Kate? Why did he kill Salems sister? Is Salem actually evil or is that just because of Dick and the dark magic?

All in all it wasn’t a bad book the story was definitely there and the plot was nice. The romance was there a bit if not slightly wishy washy but definitely spice. I would’ve just liked all these loose ends and whatnot to be tied up a bit tighter or at least answer some of the questions I still have. But it was still a pretty good read nevertheless.

So to the author, you have an interesting imagination I will say that. It’s def a new take on shifters from what I’m used to reading so kudos for that. And to another reader don’t take my opinion for it all this very well could become a favorite of yours so if it’s up your alley give it a try.

First I would love to thank the author @nehenderson and @theauthor.agency for giving me the opportunity to have this book as my first ever ARC!

To me the first couple of chapters were a bit choppy with our FMC (Kate) swapping between calling her father Dick (Richard) - I personally would have loved to have her only call him Dick and find out when the MMC (Kane) expresses his thoughts on her calling her father Dick. I think this would have really added to the first chapters to find out he was her father this way. But that is such a small portion of the book!

Once you make it through the awkward choppy first few chapters the story really hits stride and becomes hard to put down.

The book follows a FMC & MMC swapping point of views in different chapters. Some people may not like this. But I really don't mind this in a book.

There are a collection of other characters like Jagger, Trez, Ashleigh, Storm, Ivy and Maddy who are really close to main characters. Watching them through Kane and Kate's eyes really gives you an itch to follow these characters in their own stories!

There is also a lot of internal monologue. For me this wasn't an issue as I really appreciate watching the thought process of character's. We all have that same process!

Kate is that strong FMC we've always wanted! She bows to no man by choice and does not tolerate being treated like crap. But at the same time Kate is realistic. She really has a great dimension between her instincts, curiosity, and logic. It is easy to relate to her, and watch her grow as a character throughout the book.

I absolutely love the fact that Kate doesn't need saving like a damsel in distress. All she is really looking for is the feeling of home.

Kane our MMC we also follow is initially made out to be the bad boy we all love. But the character development with Kane is great. He isn't your typical toxic MMC. Kane wants the best for his pack and the people he cares for.

The spicy scenes between Kate and Kane hit that spice spot you want but don't overtake the plot.

My favourite part about this read is the way N E Henderson has strayed away from the usual cliche plots of shifter stories. Sh added in twists and turns that keep you guessing and wondering what comes next. It keeps you intrigued and wanting to read the next chapter making the book hard to put down!

The ending of this book leaves it open for a sequel. But still concludes the story of Kate and Kane.

Overall A War of Heart and Fate is a thrilling story, with a touch of spice. It really itches that spot and has you begging for a next book!

I will be begging to see what happens and whether we still follow Kate and Kane or swap to one of the other characters such as Maddy!

A War of Heart and Fate will be releasing on the 5th of April 2024. While there is no indication of a sequel at this stage, I will be one of those asking for one!!
