A body that says it's from the government facility across the sound at Esther Island. With a storm coming, the citizens of Whittier have to deal with this on their own. They put the body in the basement of the towers, but their doctor wants to find out what killed this man. Was it a disease? How dangerous is it? Then, the horror begins.

I was born in the fine year of 1971 in Park Ridge, IL. I am a life long Chicago resident and I love the city. I spent a few years in St. Louis, as well. I knew I wanted to write from the time I sat down at my mom's electric typewriter in the 3rd grade. Now I do write. I write freelance and articles for online news sources. I write horror, thrillers and detective novels. I also write non-fiction in true crime and history genres. I publish my fiction myself as an indie publisher and write and have found an audience for my work among ebook fans. I publish for Kindle, Nook and other tablets and devices at Smashwords.com. My non-fiction is usually published in print, but that may soon change as ebooks become more and more of the norm.

My initial reaction when I first received this book was that it reminded me of the The Hatching trilogy by Ezekiel Boone. Not a bad thing at all but I was wrong! The only commonality is spiders. That said, if you liked those books then you will love this.

I just love the idea of an isolated community being attacked by something. Be it a plague, zombies, or bio-engineered spiders (In books guys!!! Only in books!), so this one really appealed to me from the get-go. “Whittier” a micro town in Alaska, is the perfect place for this to happen since they are essentially cut off from the rest of the world. Add a horrible Alaskan blizzard to the mix and you can be sure that help is not coming.

Enter the town’s sheriff “Sallie Harp”, who has the misfortune of discovering a body close to the “Tower” where most of the population lives. Finding a body is unusual enough but there is something about the corpse that just isn’t right. There is a brutal storm pending so the sheriff decides to bring the body back to the “Tower” until the proper officials can be called in.

That is when the horror begins…

I loved this book! It’s well-written, gruesome and so entertaining. It also contains enough scientific fact to make this story truly terrifying.

I gobbled this up in one sitting and I heartily recommend it to horror fans and even lovers of sci-fi. And hey, if you’re not squeamish then you should give it a read even if it’s not your usual genre. It may surprise you.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given this book four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's taken me three quarters of the year to get round to reading this book and I'm glad I managed to finish 2018 off with it as it was very intriguing and I enjoyed it very much!
This book was definitely an unexpected four out of five star rating from me as *slap on the wrist* I judged this book with a hesitant should I read it should I not demeanour, just from seeing the front cover of the book. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the artwork but I can imagine the setting to look something along those lines especially after reading this gruesome, detailed horror story.
I will have to say that this book is not for young readers, this contains mild, strong language and in parts there are gory details that some readers might not find appealing.
I really liked reading from all different points of view and learning about lots of characters in S.P.I.D.A.R. I find it quite difficult to keep track of which character is which when there are multiple POVs in a story, however Alaspa managed to keep his characters detailed and every character different so it was easy to follow. I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout the whole time of reading this fast-paced book.
I would definitely recommend for fans of horror and suspense genres to pick up this book and give it a go.
I would like to pick up more books written by this author in the future!

The idea behind this story had me sucked in. As a life-long arachnophobia I have a morbid curiosity for spider stories, especially horror. It's like I can't look away. I covered my eyes and read the book through my fingers as I squirmed - and checked the corners of the ceiling for spiders!
I enjoyed the isolated setting, the unique township, and the high population of bisexual or pan-sexual townsfolk. The 'she likes her' and 'he likes her too' side comments added a lightheartedness to the story.
Unfortunately, the amount of character backstory was too much for my liking. I felt like I spent pages and pages being told why some characters had settled in this secluded location, only for them to die a page later. Yet the main characters weren't given much opportunity to show their growth through the adversity they experienced.
Overall, though, a very interesting concept and enjoyable read.
