Marty Mayfield fell in love at the tender age of 16 to Matt Cooper. He was her world until the day he left to go into the Air Force. From many letters she had written and mailed, responses from Matt never came. Her world felt destroyed and lonely. After graduating high school she moved to Paris and lived there for 12 years. During her years of living there she met the man she thought could replace Matt. Turned out her years in Paris brought nothing but pain, loss and suffering. Making a fresh start from her wounded past she makes her way to San Diego, California where she ends up finding the one person who had always made her feel whole. Will she be able to get past her scars and give Matt her whole heart again? Will she be able to forgive him for leaving her hopeless? Denying her love for him will be a struggle, sexually and emotionally.
Matt Cooper was the black sheep of his family. He wanted nothing more than to play music and live outside his father’s influence within the Air Force. Having no other choice, he took that road and left the one girl who loved him unconditionally. Regretting his decision for not writing Marty back, he continued to serve his country. Years later, after retiring, he started living his dream in San Diego, but the loneliness was always there. His heart had always been with Marty. He couldn’t get past the thought of ever living without her. Feeling like he came out of years of a coma she enters his life again. He felt his love for her immediately and more stronger than ever. Getting her to trust him again will be a battle, but he was never going to give up. He was determined to keep her in his life forever.
International Best Selling Author in the Rock Music category I'm a mother of two amazing kids, a lover of reading, watching tons of ridiculous TV shows, a passion in designing book covers and anything to do with designing on the computer. I have a love hate relationship with bread when going out to eat; a dreamer of exotic islands, would love to travel to faraway places, such as the Caribbean or Australia, and can be a bit crazy when it comes to Fireball Whiskey, but mainly, Margaritas are my go to drink.
Marty and Matt were high school sweethearts. Due to his father's demands, Matt joins the army and never contacts Marty again, although she sends him letters. After retiring from the military, Matt moves to San Diego where he opens a guitar store. Marty felt very lonely after Matt left to join the military and moves to Europe. In the beginning, it seems that she can be happy again, but things change. After years in France and a heartbreaking situation, Marty moves back to the US. She stays with her parents, but eventually moves to San Diego. After years apart, Marty and Matt reunite, but she has some demons and is afraid that Matt will leave her again. Will she tell him everything that happened while they were apart?
This is a great story, with its share of drama and steamy moments. We learn that true love doesn't fade through time and when you get a chance to have it back you can't hesitate and must fight for it.
Matt is a great guy. He comes from a military family and his father demands that he joins the army. He gives in to his fathers demands and leaves Marty. He loves music and after retiring opens a guitar store.
Although Marty went through a rough time after Matt left, she is a strong woman. She moves to France trying to find happyness and it seems that she did. But things don't go as she expects and happyness escapes again. When she tries to gain the reins of her life back, she finds Matt again.
I loved this book and I highly recommend it to everyone. This story will make you happy, sad, angry at certain events but by the time you learn everything you will understand Marty better. Matt is so Swoon worthy. Did i mention he can play the guitar and sing. he broke Marty's heart when he left for the Air Force. but he is trying to fix his life since he left and follow his true dream. you will love this love story it is truly memorable.
not bad for a first time book...seems to be in the genre that is popular now: books about hot sex in detail! Kept me entertained enough and had a sweetness to it but could have been just as entertained without the use of the "F" word so much.
This book had no depth to the storyline, it breezed over the plot and the characters and unfortunately it was filled with spelling errors. It was a battle to finish.
I really enjoyed this story. It was a multi pov - which is my favorite of course! It was also written as first person. One thing that threw me off about it though was the changing of pov so many times through the chapter. Thank goodness that the changes were clearly marked. There were some times where there were multiple changes of pov per page. (only had 3 or 4 paragraphs before the next pov change). I did love knowing both characters pov about all the different things that happened but I wonder if they could have been presented to us in a different way. I am thankful that the different pov's didn't repeat the scene like I have seen done in the past.
I do have to say though that this needed more editing. The beta reader/content editor in me cringed when I found multiple wrong word usages, grammar errors, inserted words that should not have been there, etc.
This is book one of the series and the story itself was really good. I liked the concept, the characters were great, their dialogue was engaging and the description of details were entertaining. This is a book about second chances and yes there was an HEA. This had heartache, redemption but really not a lot of romance. But the sex was smokin'. We really didn't see a lot of the romance it self but it was mentioned over time what happened during the time span. A lot of the history of them from their previous time together was mentioned and helped to tell the story and did not bog it down.
All in all, a great read.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes! Can not wait to get started on book 2 - Purple Rain
This book is about having that once in a lifetime love and losing it, only to learn that it never fades away with time.
Marty has been hurt in the past, she is struggling to overcome her fears and feels like it is time to start over. She decides to move to a new town and try to get back into the things she once loved. She finds herself thinking about the one guy that got away, Matt.
Matt has had one love in his life, she was his everything but his father thought he needed to get his priorities in order and join the military, so he let her go. After retiring from the military he decides to start his new life in a new town. He still questions whether he made the right choices in the past.
When a chance encounter brings Marty and Matt lives clashing back together, everything changes. Can they pick up where they left off or will Marty's insecurities get in the way?
November Rain is a very enjoyable read. I loved Marty and Matt's reaction when they reunite. I thing T.J. West did an outstanding job in writing her debut novel and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
Love conquers all? That's not what Marty will tell you. Matt leaves for the Air Force and she never hears from him again. She goes to Europe to study and meets a man she thinks she can love. It really is not in the cards for Marty to find love. Matt goes to the Air Force because his dad made him. He refuses to allow Matt any contact with Marty. He is pushing Matt to follow in his footsteps. He does his time and more earning the respect of his father. He retires and is finally able to make his life dream a reality, make guitars and music. His father has come to respect his son and gives his approval. San Diego, California is home to Matt's shop. San Diego, California is where Marty is headed to make a fresh start and get her life back. They meet up completely by accident. How will Marty ever be able to move forward from such a sad and tragic past?
This is a great read. Looking forward to more of her books.
I received a copy of the ebook for my honest opinion.
Matt and Marty met in high school. At 16, she loved Matt, but he broke her heart when he left for the Air Force because it is already decided by his dad. Would you allow one of your parents to tell you how to live your life? Or would you stick up for yourself and live your life your way?
Do you think Fate brought them back together after all these years? What are the chances that they both are in the same town at the same time? Yes, I do believe in fate.
I love the theme of second chances. It is one of my favorite themes. Both Marty and Matt realize that they still love one another. It is such a sweet romance.
The reason for 4 stars is due to language.
☆☆☆☆☆ I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Would I recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Would I read more from this author? Yes!
If you have that love of a lifetime, but have it taken away from you, can fate bring it back? This is what November Rain is about and it is beautiful. Matt and Marty are young teenagers and in love. They think they have forever, but once Matt leaves for the Air Force, he disappears from Marty's life without so much as a letter from him to let her know he is alive. This story follows them both as they move on with their lives as they begin their journeys without each other. The characters are so real and both have flaws. They have both had reasons for becoming the adults they are now. Fate decides to pay a visit and bring them together in a chance meeting. This story had me crying, laughing, and crossing my fingers at times. The story is told in two points of view, both Matt and Marty, and you are able to understand them both so much better this way. I am looking forward to the next in this series!
I loved November Rain. The only reason I gave the story a 4 and not 5 is because it short and moved fast. I would have loved more time with Matt and Marty to get to know them a little better. I feel like their love story moved very quickly. That being said, the story itself was EXCELLENT. Matt and Marty were high school sweet hearts, who were madly in love and torn apart by life. Matt's father was a military man and insisted that Matt follow in his path and not his dreams of Marty and music. Matt didn't want to cause Marty more pain than he already had so he left and never looked back. A devastated slowly moved on her life only to find herself in a troubled marriage. Fast forward 15 years and fate has landed them both in San Diego only a block apart from each other. Can an amazing high school love be rekindled after life has pained them both?
It's wonderful to be in the throws of first love and all is right with the world, but what do you do when it's all ripped away and you never hear from them again? 15 years pass and Marty has moved to San Diego to begin her life anew and to forget the tragedy and past she leaves behind. One day while out with a friend she see's Matt and past and present collide. Do they stand a chance to build a future together or should they walk away from the memories and forget the past?
This story gave me hope in the power of forgiveness and love. Beautiful story about two beautiful people. It made me cry and smile. Thank you TJ West for writing such a beautiful story and I can't wait to read Purple Rain.
T J is very talented writer. She creates a story where two likeable characters come together to rekindle their love. The pacing of the story is good and it is told in a believable and enjoyable manner. It's a very well put together romance story with all the loose ends tied up neatly. If you want a nice beach read, or a easy read for those late nights where you can't sleep, this is the book for you.
I really liked this story.....well I must have because I read it in one sitting and couldn't stop. Loved the characters and the pace of the story. The whole thing flowed really well and the characters were believable and had a realness to them. I look forward to the next one!
I read November Rain by T.J. West and it was a good second chance love story. In the beginning of this book you get to know Marty and Matt’s past together and what takes them apart. Jump ahead 15 years and you find them settling into life but still thinking of each other. I loved this book because it was romantic and you just never know where life will take you or lead you back too.
I loved Marty & Matt. I loved their back story, how they were essentially torn apart by circumstance, but found their way back to each other. Fate is a funny thing, and if two people are meant to be together, they will find each other, even in a different state. Their struggles felt real, their emotions were true, their chemistry was perfect. Just a great couple & an even better story.
I loved this book! No matter where life takes you, never forget your first love and believe in second chances. This was romantic and quite hot! Tiffany made the characters come alive and seem quite real. I can't wait to read the next one!!
This book had me sucked into the story quickly. It was enjoyable and flowed well. The characters are relatable, regular everyday people. This story is honest and a straight forward second chance romance. Check it out.
A refreshing new read. I am instantly hooked to the characters and the story plot, I absolutely love it. Matt and Marty are now in my heart residing with other book characters that I have come to love.
This is my first book by T.J. West and it wont be my last. This book is very well written and the characters are very well developed. I loved that I was drawn into the story and I felt very connected to the characters.
T.J West has done it again!!!!! this is one talented lady. She's roped me in yet again and I can't help but to fall in love w/Marty & Matt the whole story kept my interest peeked until then end, & even then I was still turning pages looking for more!!! well done Tiffany
