Rachael Wade

During the high of the magical indie author era that swept the nation in 2012, Rachael Wade wrote over a dozen romance and fantasy novels about broken characters with tattered hearts. She has since then retired this pen name, so you won't find her on the socials anymore, but she still welcomes rights inquiries and messages from readers via Goodreads. Today she writes horror and suspense under a different name, though romance subplots still make cameo appearances in all of her stories.

An amazing set of 5 books, by 5 amazing authors that are all going to make you want so much more!!

Amaranth by Rachael Wade is a very unique take on vampires who don't want to be monsters. They want to live a normal life, with maybe just a little extra effort. This one is a well written tale that will keep you on your feet and have you yelling at the same time :)

Aurora Sky: Vampire - Hunter by Nikki Jefford
This is a story of a girl who has special blood, so when she almost died, the government decided to surgically repair her to make her a vampire hunter, without her knowledge. This is a very fun one, with a lot of action, and some really interesting characters. I definitely enjoyed this one!

Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown – I am completely obsessed with this series. This is one of the most unique stories, with excellent characters, wonderful surprises, lots of plot twists, and some amazing thoughtfulness when it comes to blowing your mind. I definitely say get this one!!!

Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy – Well now, I love Louisiana stories and this one is well done! This one also has a very surprising unique supernatural character with some really good plot twists, and a great set of characters. I also highly recommend this one if you're looking for an adventure ride, and yes my pun is intended LOL

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand – What can I say about my stalkee... This one is amazing. It's a heartfelt, gripping, heart wrenching story, but it's one of the best books I've ever read... EVER. I mean that. So, with that said, I recommend you pick this one up as well.

I give this whole package 5 PAWS, because every story has it's own wonderful take on the supernatural and everyone has a destiny, which you can't change fate! :)

I'm going to just keep this review short and sweet and say that this is an amazing compilation of Paranormal Romance Books! I'm a big fan of paranormal romance, and am always on the lookout for new stories, especially in the New Adult genre. This set gave me everything that I was looking for! It had stories of love and destiny, sacrifices, a second chance at romance and keeping that love when the odds are stacked against you! And you can't forget the plot twists that always keep you guessing! Overall, I really enjoyed The Fated Compilation. I found the stories to be intriguing, addictive, and I loved all of the different paranormal aspects.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amaranth by Rachael Wade:
This novel was a Twilight-meet-Vampire-Diaries delight. I savored every minute of it, like I would a rare vintage wine, every drop equals satisfaction...mmm!

***
"He pressed his forehead to mine, shut his eyes. “Your brokenness was a mystery to me, but I saw your motive through it. You had such a strong desire to love, to prevail,” he kissed my forehead gently, pulled away to look at me once more. “It humbled me, and I knew instantly that I’d crossed paths with the most beautiful soul that has ever walked this earth.”

***
From the moment Camille is introduced, her character draws the reader in. The difference between her and most other book heroines is that Camille seems to attract 'evil', be it in the form of human or paranormal stalkers. She goes from one abusive relationship to the other and then straight into the arms of Gavin a vampire.

Some might see this as type A victim-syndrome, but in fact Camille is strong and kind and therefor people are drawn to her. She seems to want to fix what is broken and this is what gets her into these troubled relationships.

Already Rachael Wade sets herself apart from the norm when she introduces these mundane struggles, but then she goes and adds some chili to the mix and we've got our selfs a winner. Amaranth is the best of both worlds.

Although this book could easily have been a disaster with all that happens, especially the jumps between normal and paranormal, Rachael Wade pulls it of superbly. I will not dwell on the plot, but I will tell you to prepare to be amazed.

PS: rumor has it that the second book is even better...

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter by Nikki Jefford:
OH MY! If you don't have this book yet GO GET IT! You are seriously missing out!

Splendid job, Nikki Jefford!

Aurora Sky, our protagonist, turns out to be quite the little spitfire at the end of this novel after starting out as just another teen girl in her crowd of peers. However, this transformation doesn't occur naturally, if fact far from it.

Aurora grows up in Alaska and can't wait for the her graduation day when she can move away from the constant snow and ice to warm and sunny places. But low and behold, a car crash nearly kills her and along with her near fatal accident, goes her dreams of escape to sunshine and happiness. This really is sad for Aurora, but I couldn't get myself to regret this outcome much, as it kicks our story into gear and off we go on an unforgettable adventure.

Hold onto your horses because here comes the stunner...our girl opens her eyes to, not only a second chance at life, but in her comatose state, mommy dearest decided to go ahead and sign her life over to the government in exchange for a couple of organs. Why would the government get involved in the car crash of an ordinary teenager you ask? Because our Aurora has a rare blood type and when mixed with several gross diseases, she is lethal to, you guessed it, vampires!

The author takes Aurora, as well as the reader, on an unfathomable journey and on the way we meet several interesting characters from Dante, the cute bring-home-to-meet-your-mother mentor to Noel the feisty get-you-in-all-sorts-of-trouble best friend. We are right there with her, when Aurora transitions from a nobody into a full throttle, but-kicking vampire hunter. Every change that occurs within her brings us closer to the strange boy Fane and the undeniable chemistry between them. Oh let's not forget to mention that he is not quit the type of boy a mother necessarily what's her daughter hang out with...

The government also plays their roll well, when they force Aurora into submission with cruel techniques and cunning control over her. Despite a lack of enthusiasm with the cards she was dealt, she manages to excel well beyond expectation. Soon she is a force to be reckoned with.

Nikki Jefford takes our breath away with this book and I couldn't wait to get started on the next book in the series.

Aurora Sky is a MUST read, I LOVED IT!

Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown:
This was a really great book!

I haven't heard of Stacey Marie Brown before and my chances of encountering this gem on my own is slim to none. Lucky for me her book was hidden within the Fated box set. I am and most likely always will be a sucker for a good paranormal book and this set of books captured my attention almost immediately. Little did I know that I would have the time of my life (hehe, can't say that phrase without flashes of Dirty Dancing jumping to mind...rolling my eyes at myself right now!). Now where was I... o yes, time of my life reading one great paranormal novel after the other in the Fated set.

Stacey Marie Brown's characters Ember and Eli are amazing. They are well rounded and realistic. Ember, the protagonist, is a troubled teenager. As a young girl she finds her mothers' body after she was murdered and from then on Embers life spirals downward. She sees thing that aren't real and with tons of therapy she knows that her visions are an 'escape' to her own imaginary world, because that is easier to do than facing reality and coping with her problems. Boy oh boy are the therapists wrong... But as one would expect from a real life person, Ember fights to keep her sanity in tact by refusing to believe that her imaginary world is real.

Thing take a turn for the worst when Ember is wrongly accused for an explosion at school, it is a mere coincidence that she always seems to be right in the middle of exploding lights and glass wherever she goes, or is it?

The police station is a new and refreshing venue for picking up hot and dangerous boys. In Darkness of Light this is where we meet Eli Dargen. Gosh, if you don't find this hunk drool worthy, check your pulse because you might be dead!

The love/hate relationship between them drove me crazy and the fact that Eli seems to know what the hell is going on with Ember, while she stays clueless to the mystery that is her own life, drove hèr crazy. In the meantime the journey is extremely interesting for the reader and at last Stacy Marie reveals the maddening secrets.

Just stop reading reviews now and go get yourself a copy of this book, you won't regret it!

Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy:
Wow, I love this box-set! Each book is as good as the next and they're all surprising with a fresh twist to the everyday paranormal genre. Alyssa Rose Ivy definitely earns her spot in this fantastic book set, Fated.

I want to start off by saying that Flight is a suitable name for an amazing book. I have recently read a book where I couldn't grasp the connection between the book title and it's relevance to the story is, but in the case of Flight, the name was pretty clear and appropriate. It is also just vague enough not to give away the plot. Well done Alyssa.

Can you imagine being in a situation where you are forced into the company of a stranger, so your BFF can make out with a random dude? If you can, you would know that poor Allie wasn't a happy camper. Both Allie and Jess (mentioned BFF) have graduated from high school and are nearly off to university. Allie's never-present wealthy daddy just bought her a la-di-da car in her favorite color - when she was a little girl, not so much nowadays - Lavender and the two of them are on their way to work at his prestigious hotel in New Orleans. Now, if you don't know this yet, I feel it is my duty to inform you that at the mention of New Orleans in any novel, movie or tv-series you should hold onto your hat because a serious paranormal hurricane will most definitely hit.

On their arrival a boy catches Allie's eye, but she is focused on her future and boys have part in her planning. Against her better judgment Jess convinces her to go out and before long Jess hooks up with Jarred, who happens to be Levi's right hand man and ta-da, Allie is smack bam forced into his company.

Needless to say, thing progress and before long we have undeniable chemistry between our two main characters, no matter how resistant Allie is. It seems that the more she avoids Levi, the more he wants her.

As this is a paranormal book, we expect that their relationship will not be simple and straight forward, I don't want to give the plot away, but know this...there isn't a vampire in sight... No, these characters are much more interesting and the author gets points for imagination.

I love-hated the following part of the book and while I was hesitant to add it to my review because it might give away too much, I just couldn't resist:

"Levi pulled me tightly against him. “I love you. I have never felt this way before and the thought of losing you scares me.” “And that’s supposed to make everything better?” I bristled. “You love me? It doesn’t matter anyway.” “Why not?” “Because I don’t love you.” Even as the words left my lips, I knew they weren’t true."

I loved Flight and I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

I have only read 2 books from this set so far. I do plan to read them all and I will update this with those reviews as I get to them.

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand (5 stars!)

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand is an amazing story of love and grief. I turned the last page feeling all the feels. Not many books can do that to me. I have a heart of stone...

Whisper is a cCherokeegirl who experiences the tragic loss of her parents. She suffers to the point of attempted suicide and being admitted to a mental hospital. After being released and knowing how to cope with her grief, she tries to move on with her life. Then enters Dylan. A boy she finds badly hurt and helps nurse him back to life. Dylan awakens things in her that she didn't know existed. He is the key to her life, past, present and future.

Once again, Heather has blown me away. Not only is her writing captivating, but she knows how to pull you into her stories. You don't just read Heather's books, you live them.

I completely fell in love with every character in Whisper. From Whisper herself, to even the bad guy. Whisper is strong, caring and independent. She has been through hell, but she came out on top. She stood for what she believed in and took no crap from anyone. Her instant connection with Dylan was fantastic. In the process of saving his life, he saved hers. Dylan was everything. Gorgeous, protecting and loving. He awakes from his injuries with amnesia. The journey of him remembering who he is, is fascinating. One of my favorite book boyfriends to date!

Heather tackles so many issues in Whisper. Attempted suicide, tragic loss, murder, the list goes on. Whisper is full of Cherokee folk lore, magic and a sense of family that lasts hundreds of years.

I could talk about Whisper for hours, but I won't. What I will say is do yourself a favor and get your hands on this book. I absolutely loved it and I know you will too!

Amaranth by Rachael Wade (3 stars!)

I went into Amaranth with magical expectation. Southern Louisiana, Hoodoo and Vampires sounds like perfection to me. But I finished feeling a little bit let down.

Our main character, Camille, settles down in Southern Louisiana after running from an abusive relationship. After 2 years and another abusive boyfriend in her new home, she meets an unexpected stranger. Once Camille and Gavin's paths cross, her world is turned completely upside down. She's introduced to another place and creatures that she never knew existed in real life.

I wanted to like Camille, I really did. But I found her really hard to relate to. She's gone through so much abuse in her lifetime. I just couldn't understand her ability to fall in love with Gavin so easily. Especially when he always acted so shady. I did like Gavin. He always had good intentions, He just didn't execute things properly.

I felt like the story progressed to quickly. Once Camille found out the Gavin was a vampire, BAM!, we're thrown into the fight of our lives. Amaranth is the hidden world for reformed vampires and they believe that it also holds the cure. Amaranth was very fast paced and a quick read. I made it through in one sitting. I absolutely loved the plot for this story. I just closed the pages feeling like I could have learned so much more!

Rachael Wade's writing style was easy to follow. The only real "peeve" I had was that the story contains the phrase, "I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding." TWICE! I loathe that phrase.

Overall, Amaranth was a good read. It has a great story line and some really good characters. I just wish we'd had the chance to learn more about them. This is a series, so perhaps that's something that improves in the next couple books.

At some point I may continue on with The Resistance Trilogy but for now, I'm good with stopping at Amaranth.

I have only read two of the five books in this special collection, but I thoroughly enjoyed both of them!
Here are my reviews of those two books,

My Review of Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy
Alyssa Rose Ivy has done it again, she has hooked me and pulled me right in. I have to say I really enjoyed Flight, and the story kept me enthralled. Allison and her friend, Jaime, travel down to New Orleans to have a fun summer before they both leave for college. There they meet Levi, Owen, and Jared who have a mysterious but sexy way about them. Allison has sworn off boys for the summer, but Levi is hell bent on changing her mind.

Allison is snarky and stubborn, and does not like being known as the little rich girl. She likes to handle things on her own. When she first meets Levi, his cocky attitude drives her crazy, and not in a good way, but he starts to grow on her. Allison slowly opens up, and as a character, she is very entertaining. As her relationship with Levi progress, Allie begins to learn that not everything is, as it seems.

Levi is that cocky, slightly bad boy that every girl wants but he only has eyes for Allie. At first, Levi annoyed me, just as he did Allison. As I continued to read, he started to grow on me, and I could not help but root for Allie and Levi.

Alyssa Rose Ivy does another amazing job with this new series, and I cannot wait to find out what happens next in the Crescent Chronicles. The second book, Focus is must read for me. If you have not ever read anything by Alyssa, pick up Flight today or try her other series the Afterglow Trilogy (another series I am anxiously awaiting the next book!)

**Unabridged Bookshelf received this book from the author for the blog tour, in exchange for an honest review**

My Review of Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter by Nikki Jefford
Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter is an interesting take on vampire mythology, and I have to say I really like the uniqueness of the mythology. Plague vampires is an interesting concept that I really hope is explored more in the future installments of this Vampire Hunter series. Aurora goes from an ordinary girl to a rebellious kick butt take no names type in a very short amount of time. This is not shocking as the events she has to endure after her accident are a little mind-blowing.

I love Aurora and her take-charge attitude, and I really like her with Fane. The complications of being a Vampire Hunter obviously interfere, because you cannot just disappear on your boyfriend all night without explanation. I think that the complications are going to get even worse in the next Aurora Sky novel. This book is obviously just the very beginning of Aurora’s interdiction and journey of vampires and vampire hunters, but it is extremely well done and has me hooked for the next one.

I have been seeing this series everywhere and so many people have mentioned it as a must read. I just glad that I finally got my chance to enjoy it, and it was everything I hoped for and more. There are many places this story could go, and I cannot wait to find out where Nikki Jefford decided to take it.

This is one of the five novels in the limited time Fated bundle, and seriously for .99 how can you go wrong. All five of the books have many highly praising reviews, and you also get Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy which is a personal favorite. I look forward to diving into the other stories, and find new series like I just did with Aurora Sky.

I was only able to read three of the five books before posting my review! Flight and Darkness of Light are amazingly addicting and definitely 5 stars!!!!! Amaranth did not grab me like the other two and I would give it 3 stars. Individual reviews below. I plan to finish the last two books in the next month or so and will update my reviews as I do. So far I would definitely recommend this set of books only .99 cents and totally worth every penny!!

Amaranth: An enjoyable read but it took me a little while to get into the book and really understand what was going on. Not my favorite book I feel like every time something new was brought up it was only partially explained or not explained at all making it really hard to get into the flow of the book. I loved the idea of the plot but not the best execution. I really liked Gavin by Camille has a pretty annoying personality. 3 Stars. I do not plan on reading the rest of the series.

Darkness of Light: AHHH!! What a great book!! I have already downloaded the next two books in the series and cannot wait to keep reading!! The author keeps you guessing the whole time and leaves you with an ending I never could have guessed!! Very entertaining and I could not stop reading, I just wanted to know what would happen next and find out how Ember was different!! Ember and Levi together are a steamy hot combo, constantly making each others blood boil, which then got my blood boiling as well. I love the plot and the surprisingly dramatic, in a good way, cliff hanger. Great read!

Flight: Very addicting!! Loved that the plot was set in New Orleans I've always wanted to go there and it seems like the author new the town well. This was a new idea for a paranormal group of shifters that I have not read before. I read all three of the Crescent Chronicles book over the weekend I was so entertained. The main characters are great and the author makes them seem like people you could hang out with or go the the bars with. Allie seems like a very strong girl who knows what she wants and Levi also is a very strong willed character going after what he wants no matter the consequences. I love the connection Allie and Levi have, I really enjoyed reading about their relationship develop over the story and what happens at the end I never would have expected!!! I love Hailey one of my favorite characters, her and Allie become great friends and really bond because Allie knows she is a shifter. Very entertaining book, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy!!

Fated is an incredible collection of paranormal new adult novels.

Amaranth by Rachael Wade: Camille Hart meets Gavin Devereaux and is exposed to the world of vampires. This is an amazing story that kept me engrossed.

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter by Nikki Jefford: After a near-fatal car accident, the government transforms Aurora Sky into a vampire hunter. I have been wanting to try the Aurora Sky series for a while, and I am so glad that I finally read this book. I will definitely continue this series. It was well-written and entertaining.

Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown: Ember Brycin always knew she was different. She meets the mysterious Eli Dragen determined to figure out his secrets and how they relate to her. This is the one book in the collection that I already read and reviewed. You can check it out at: http://dianes-book.blogspot.com/2014/... I love this entire series and am anxiously awaiting reading book 4.

Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy: While working a summer job at her father’s hotel in New Orleans, Allie becomes involved with Levi, being exposed to a supernatural world she never knew about. I had not heard of this series, and I am so glad it was included in this assortment. I couldn’t put this story down. It was very original and intriguing.

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand: Whisper Grant has been struggling with the death of her parents. While wandering in the wood, she finds a dying boy and gets him to the hospital. He has amnesia and visions of the future. Whisper is a heartwarming story that was refreshing.

After reading this collection, I have definitely added these series to my wishlist. All five books are well-written and extraordinary.
