Rate this book
Six years after being thrown out of the world of Roa, Emi and Teddy return to avenge the friends they've lost to time. With two-thousand years having passed in the realm, Emi prepares to take charge of this new adventure all on her own. But her plans begin to come unraveled when a detour leads her to the now thriving kingdom of Nevolan. It is here that she learns of a plot to destroy the kingdom by an old foe of her parents.

Together with Teddy, Emi explores the kingdom until her use of magic gets her thrown in prison. But what seemed like an impossible obstacle to overcome quickly turns into a reunion she could only dream of. Emi's first big adventure comes to a close as she battles threats greater than any before, meets new friends to help her on this journey, and reunites with some old ones...

I had to take a moment to process everything that happened when I finished it. To me, this is the darkest book of all series, with a 16-year-old Emi going back to Roa to save her friends. It has a lot of explanations of the world they are in and a lot of revelations, some of them very surprising. As people reunite again, we have a lot of fights with magic spells that make us want more.

We see more of Arlo and Jindi, as well as some new characters that will change the whole plot of the story, showing that the good is not entirely good. This book is five stars, and I wish it had more pages because this story is fantastic!

An older (and darker) Emi finds her way back to Roa. Six years have passed since she’s been there, though 2,000 years have gone by in her absence.

Roa is much changed, the balance between life and death, darkness and light is upset. Darkness is starting to overcome all else, and it is up to Emi and her friends (and family) to once again save the day.

This novel is definitely much darker than the previous ones in the series. Emi has changed due to her age and experience, both in life and her magical abilities.

I greatly enjoyed all the magic that was shown in this novel. I also loved seeing favourite characters return, despite the long absence.

This was a wonderful novel full of adventure and conflict that left me wanting more.

I received this novel for free and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
