Very Informative
A very useful synopsis of the event leading to the civil war and it's aftermath. The politics of the times as well as public opinion in the north and south was certainly pivotal. This is made abundantly clear in this exposition. Credit must also be given for the author's explanation of the conduct of the war by both of the combatants. This is required reading.

The author presented the material in a logical manner. He gave background info that helped the reader understand the thoughts of the time that lead up to the war. One of the better “ civil war” books that I have read

Well done for an overview. Does not drift into the trap of specifics or personalities that many "Short Histories" fall into. So it can be effectively short.
Lead in was good.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It is a good overview of the American Civil War. However I found it to be a bit dry.
