Fuyumi Ono (小野 不由美, Ono Fuyumi) is a Japanese novelist who is best known for writing the Twelve Kingdoms (十二国記, Juuni Kokuki) series, on which a popular anime is based. Her name after marriage is Fuyumi Uchida (内田不由美, Uchida Fuyumi), but she writes under her maiden name.

Ono was born in Nakatsu, Ōita, Kyūshū in 1960. She graduated from Ōtani University in Kyōto with a degree in Buddhist Studies, and in 1988 was employed by the publisher Kōdansha. Her debut story is titled Sleepless on Birthday Eve.

Ono is married to Naoyuki Uchida (内田直行, Uchida Naoyuki), a mystery novelist who writes under the pseudonym Yukito Ayatsuji (綾辻行人 , Ayatsuji Yukito).

Before she started work on Twelve Kingdoms, Fuyumi Ono wrote The Demonic Child (魔性の子), a horror novel about a boy from another world. She later worked certain events from this novel into the Twelve Kingdoms series. Short stories set in the various kingdoms include: Kasho, Toei, Shokan, Kizan and Jogetsu. In February, 2008, the first new Twelve Kingdoms short story, Hisho no Tori (丕緒の鳥) was published in Shinchosha's Yomyom magazine.

According to an interview at the Anime News Network, she is "currently rewriting a girls' horror series (she) wrote long ago."

上下兩集一起看完，一起寫好了
1.看到系列第二作覺得胎果怎麼在蓬萊都如此坎坷，原生家庭關係動力都很都不太好XD
2.看到泰麒10歲左右就要選主，很好奇其他外型看起來更大的麒麟們到底是出生後幾年才開門??
3.在這部裡面又更完善了一些系列設定，驍宗和蒿里以及本次配角都刻劃的蠻有魅力，也描寫了更多麒麟的事情。
4.看完這集對於蓬山到底怎麼保護麒麟感覺充滿問號，除了疏於注意讓泰麒被捕捉之外，如果李齋或驍宗是有心人士不就出事了
5.還蠻心疼泰麒在這部的過程裡面不斷的承受各種心理壓力，也很佩服這個小朋友(?)的適應能力。

談「麒麟如何選王」的《魔性之子》前傳，小野最喜歡的人物就是泰麒了吧，當主角的冊數比陽子還多（7:6）。

隱隱約約查覺到：同樣是中國風奇幻，二十多年後都出了續作，為什麼小野不由美的十二國會比田中芳樹的創龍傳受歡迎，很大一部分原因是小野比較會描寫人物的成長與變化，田中就是很快樂地塞一些自己想罵的時事進去……另外小野「陳述設定」的筆法也比田中平鋪直敘／夾敘夾議來得巧妙一些，如果同樣都是說教，至少小野的看起來比較不讓人難受。

A fun and easy read, set in a fantasy land of Twelve Kingdoms where the clothes and some of the culture resembles ancient China. This is actually a re-read, so I'm not bothering with the first half of the novel. I'm catching up on Taiki and Gyousou's stories in anticipation of the newest novel.

In this book the kirin (mythical unicorn-type creature) Taiki meets and chooses Gyousou as king of the kingdom of Tai. He deeply regrets his choice, however, fearing he chose the man for all the wrong reasons. If it wasn't the will of Heaven, will their people be punished?

Little, bitty Taiki finally finding some happiness makes my heart hurt because of what happened in his past and what I know is coming next.

泰麒のお話。
この世界に慣れていない泰麒に対して、景麒と最後に出てくる延麒のやさしさが好き。言葉自体は丁寧な口調だったりざっくりとした口調だったりしても、そこはかとない思いやりがあって思わずにっこりしながら読んでしまう。そして、泰麒。10歳にしては賢すぎるし、人間ができすぎてるでしょう。。わたしはもっと何も考えてない小学男子のようなおバカだったなぁ。

Livre très agréable à lire, très intéressant aussi car on en apprend encore un peu plus sur les 12 royaumes, mais.... je n'aime vraiment pas Taiki!
