Dispatched to deal with gun-running supply ships based on Cuba and Puerto Rico, Rugged finds the whole area is about to erupt into open revolt, stirred up by Communist intrigue under the leadership of an insane fanatic.

Thrown into the fray, Sinclair and his men must prevent an execution that will start a rebellion.

But with a traitor in their midst, it is their most dangerous mission yet.

John Alan Wingate DSC was a successful novelist with some twenty-five books to his credit. Many of these had a naval theme. Frequently involving the submarine service, they gained much authenticity from Wingate’s personal wartime experiences

If you like action packed stories, then this is for you.
In many ways the "Sinclair " series has similarities to the "Gilmour" series by David Black, though in the Sinclair series our hero doesn't (at least so far) have the frequent romantic encounters that Harry Gilmour does.
The action in "Nuclear Captain" is fast paced & almost non- stop; & the conclusion is really good & for me was completely unexpected -Sorry no hints from me, you'll have to read it for yourself to see what I mean but suffice to say I loved it.
Rarely do I find a book that grips me so much & I can't wait to read book five!

What a leap.....

Suddenly we've leapt forward in time and into some truly unbelievable scenarios. I really enjoyed the first three books in the series and found them to be well written and "believable", but this chapter in the series really stretches the imagination. I plowed through and will move on to the next book but I really hope it gets back to a more realistic storyline.

An average read

I found this story line out of kilter time wise, but still it was a decent read. Some things seemed a little far fetched at times but then again fiction isn’t relegated to the confines of historical accuracy. I reduced several stars as I found the story line disjointed & a wee bit confusing in some spots. If it’s an action story the reader is wanting then his appetite should be well sated with this one.

Comp!eye nonsense

This had been a decent series but now we suddenly move forwards by decades to a time of trouble in the West Ind
ies. It's Comies deluding natives and the Rugged to the rescue. Might be the most stupid plot I have ever read with Jesus coming to an implausible rescue. Give it a miss.

This is the worst book in the Sinclair series. I’ll not be purchasing any more books from this author. The characters are unbelievable and wooden, and the plot is a totally unbelievable fantasy. It’s shocking to see such a fine writer sink so low. After reading this labyrinth of a fantasy tale it was a mercy to reach the end

Unfortunately I gave up on this after a few chapters, whilst the author jumped the timeline (from the previous book) forward 20 years, it appears he forgot to do the same to his characters which was off-putting and distracting preventing me from really getting into the book. It's a shame because my dad seemed to really enjoy this series and I was hoping to finish it.

This one lost me

I enjoy naval action and submarine stories, but this read like a pre teenager book. Serpent King and belt (unbelievable scenarios) taking over entire countries, sorry, not for me.

nuclear captain

I read the previous books in this series and found them believable. I didn’t find this quite the same. It reminded me of the Biggles stories I read as a boy and at 74 I have grown beyond that. A good adventure though.

Exciting

I liked the modern side of the series. The submarines and the battles. These men must have incredible mind control. Locked in a tube being nearly destroyed from below. Then at lAst captured.

Very confused

Not exactly a battle for naval supremacy. I think it is time I read something else.....a lot of repetition from previous volumes
