Archie Comics is an American comic book publisher headquartered in the Village of Mamaroneck, Town of Mamaroneck, New York, known for its many series featuring the fictional teenagers Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle and Jughead Jones. The characters were created by publisher/editor John L. Goldwater, written by Vic Bloom and drawn by Bob Montana. They were based in part on people met by Goldwater "in the Midwest" during his travels throughout the United States while looking for jobs and places to stay.

Archie's first appearance in Pep Comics #22 on December 22, 1941, was drawn by Montana and written by Vic Bloom. With the creation of Archie, publisher Goldwater hoped to appeal to fans of the Andy Hardy movies starring Mickey Rooney. Archie Comics is also the title of the company's longest-running publication, the first issue appearing with a cover date of Winter 1942. Starting with issue #114, the title was shortened to simply Archie.

This is a large collection of Archie comics. You get what you expect. There were no particular stand out stories in this collection. However, if you like beach stories, a lot of them are featured in this collection.

I love Archie comics, and I've loved them since I was a small child. I know they're more popular now thanks to Riverdale (which I ignore, because it is not like Archie comics at all), but my favourite pieces are from the fifties-to-seventies, and I love that there are so many different eras represented in this massive collection. These were all filled with summer fun, and charming stories. I adored this, and will be moving on the the next 1000 page volume in my collection in the coming months.

I am on such a huge comic book/graphic novel binge this year.

Anyway. This was fun as usual. Takes so much longer to finish than the usual Double Digests, and it was packed with stories. I just wish they didn't include those "From Archie's Vaults" stories. That old art style does not interest me.
