To see the kapros is to see death. At least, that's what Gran says. But Tam doesn't fear the gigantic wild boars that roam the forest floor. High in the treetop village of Aviary, Tam has one to become a legendary Pathfinder and protect the village from the ravenous kapros. To become a Pathfinder, Tam must take a dangerous test that often ends in bloodshed. Forbidden from training with the others by her overprotective father, Tam must practice for the test behind his back. However, all the training in the world can't prepare her to learn the family's terrible secret, or to face the bloodthirsty beasts below.
