Infinite Fear - A Scared Series Novella

Spending his days drunk and his nights high, priding himself on his perfection of the one night stand, Jackson Jones has hit rock bottom. He is caught in a vicious cycle, spiraling downwards, at war with a formidable himself.

Life for Jackson wasn't always like this. At eighteen, he thought he had it a beautiful girlfriend who he loved, good friends, and even better grades that would help him get into any college he chose. But one event changed everything, and now his bright future has all but disappeared completely.

With some help from an old friend and a sexy, mysterious woman, will Jackson be able to find the closure he needs to move on from his past and reclaim his future? Can he shut his demons out, for good? Or will he remain stuck in a cycle of Infinite Fear?

Jacqueline Abrahams is the author alter ego for an ordinary mum to three children (two human and one canine). Born in South Africa, she now calls Sydney, Australia her home.

A collector all things books and bookish, she in an avid reader and has a tiny obsession with filling bookshelves. The Scared Series is her debut series.

Why do I read? Thats easy. There's no better form of escapism. There are places I go and people I visit in books for every varying mood and emotion I have. I wrote my debut novel because I wanted to tell someone else's story, more escapism. But the story told me in the end. I just manned the keyboard!

Infinite fear delves into Jackson’s world.. the truth about his past. The truth that sent Jackson spiralling to rock bottom, that made him detached with no care in the world. It’s raw, rash and racy - it’s all you need to fall in love with Jackson even more. Definitely recommend it, I am excited to read more of the Scared series.

“Infinite Fear” did not work for me, not even slightly.
Jackson Jones, a young man with a bright future, got his girlfriend pregnant.
She upped and left his life – he went into a tailspin of drink and random sex.
Several years later he gets his life back on track.
That's it!
As an introduction to a series it is a disaster - there is zero chance of me reading further.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and the first book in the Scared Series. The author Jacqueline Abrahams takes a different approach in writing this novella for the start of this series. And writes it in the lead male character Jackson's POV, instead of writing it in a female POV. Which was refreshing change for once in a story.

This book starts off kind of sad and I feel for Jackson, I really do. The author really brings out the emotions that Jackson is feeling in this book. It also showed that Jackson was not from the right side of the tracks and probably lived a life harder than most had.

There were a couple of downsides to this story though I kind of felt like I was missing some back story. I felt like that even though this was a novella and the author was trying to introduce us, and let us get to know Jackson's character. That there was just something missing a little bit. Like the story started jumping into another story, oh boy I'm not explaining that well enough. I mean obviously there's a lot to these character's backgrounds. Though throughout the story we did get some answers to some of the things in this story.

I would give this story 4 Out of 5 Stars just cause I like this series and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the New Adult genre.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this novella from Love Between the Sheets for my honest review.

Infinite Fear is the prequel to book one in the Scared series, and my first book by Jacqueline Abrahams. Note: due to brevity, I rate novellas on a 3-star rating unless otherwise noted.

Summary:
Jackson Jones has hit rock bottom in his young life. Once, he had a bright future: a beautiful girlfriend, the very best friends, and college potential. But in the blink of an eye, his world shattered and he can't piece himself back together. It's much easier drowning his sorrows in the bottom of a liquor bottle and the heat of any anonymous, willing female. Luckily, at least one of those good friends is still around, and with their help, and that of a sexy, mysterious woman, Jackson finds the clarity and courage to start putting himself back together. It won't be easy, but he needs closure as long as he can fight the fear he carries inside.

This was a fast-paced novella. We got to see Jackson broken and hopeless, helpless to move on from his past. Jackson was an intriguing character. He wanted to change, but wasn't sure how to make that come about. You couldn't help but feel for him. He had his heart shattered, and he was a man who felt incredibly deeply about those he loved. It was a great way to get a look into where Jackson comes from before we get his continued story in Scared Beautiful. I'm looking forward to getting answers to some of my questions in book one, but more, I'm looking forward to seeing Hackson whole and healed. <3

I received this novella for my honest review.

This novella is the story of Jackson, a young adult who spends his time drinking, sleeping with almost every woman he meets. he wasn`t like that before, he had a girlfriend, Shana that he loved. She gets pregnant and they decide to terminate the pregnancy but changes her mind and disappears leaving him destroyed. He spends his nights sleeping around and drinking. We also get intorduced to Jade, his lesbian best friend and who is trying to get Jackson to change his ways and live a life with purpose.

One night he goes to a strupclub to hear his friend Jade play and meets Nina and makes him see life in a different light.

It was a good story, well written. The characters were developped. I felt that Jackson was a great character, you understood why he became that way and also he realized that there was more to life than drinking and partying his life away.

This coming of age book was fun, sexy and also intriguing to make you want to learn more about Jackson and what his life will become in the next book of the series Scared of beautiful. What I liked about this book is that It can be read before of in between the other two books.

Great read for the romance lovers.

Rating: 3 stars

I read this novella understanding it's the prequel to Scared of Beautiful. We're along for the downhill ride of Jackson's past. And not an exhilarating downhill ride, it's more of a painful and grieving ride. Jackson is living a life to numb and forget, which he succeeds at in unhealthy ways. I'm glad that Jacqueline brought hope and goals to Jackson's life instead of keeping him stuck in an environment filled with painful memories. I recognize Jade as a faithful friend, but at times the dialogue between Jade and Jackson was choppy and uncomfortable. I don't know if this is purposeful as they had a brief "falling out" for in their friendship or if it was just an awkwardness to their dialogue. We got a good character build-up of Jackson within this novella and I'm rooting for him and his college endeavors. I'm also hopeful that we'll see some closure or get more of Shana in Scared of Beautiful in terms of her departure. Give this a try and find your next book crush!

I received a copy of the eBook from Goodreads Never too Old for Y. A. & N. A. Books Read for Review group in exchange for an honest review.

The prologue of the novella Infinite Fear immediately draws the reader into Jackson’s dark world. The author shows his pain and broken heart throughout the novella. The read is fast paced with a lot happening in a short period of time. The voices of each character are strong and distinct. Jackson’s character drives the story in every way. Jacqueline Abrahams has created an interesting and believable character in Jackson. The author makes the reader believe that Jackson is a unique individual with positive potential if given a chance.

Is Jackson damaged beyond repair? Is his fear infinite? Can he move on? The author has not finished his journey. The reader will want to read the sequel immediately.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I loved this. I think a lot of authors feel like if they’re going to write us a story from before that we need a whole new 300 pages of story. This was short and snappy and it gave us a nice look into Jacksons past – helping to set readers up for the next book and if they’ve already read it, give them more information about what they’ve just read.

Years fly by

Too many years go by in this book. Nothing really happens. Guy gets gf pregnant, she runs away. He spends next few years having one night stands, hooked up with wrong people. Finally gets his life together. He found out that the ex has a daughter and where she is but has done nothing about it.

A great novella to explain who Jackson is. A perfect companion to Scared of Beautiful (book 1 ) and Scared of Forever (book 2). You will experience Jackson and his pain and dark world he inhabits, ideal to read after Scared of Beautiful before starting Scared of Forever i feel myself
