Quotes: 24. Anticipate the “Day Three” Phenomenon The average guest is filled with adrenaline for the first two days of his vacation. He’s up by 7 a.m., he’s had breakfast, and he’s chomping at the bit to get into the parks for opening time. By the third day, especially in summertime when Florida’s heat and humidity can be exhausting, you’ll be lucky to have your teeth brushed by 11 a.m. Bear that in mind when making any bookings in advance, opting for time slots of 11:30 a.m. and later starting on your third day. However, if you want to use Genie+, or hope to secure one of the “hard to get” Individual Lightning Lane attractions, get up early to make your selections, then head back to bed for another hour or two!

89. Don’t Miss the PhotoPass Service Studio Annual Passholders and guests using Memory Maker shouldn’t miss out on the most elaborate PhotoPass opportunity in all of Walt Disney World. When you’ve exhausted your options in the parks, head to Disney Springs for the PhotoPass Service Studio and its selection of backgrounds. Choose the background or “virtual backdrop” you love the most, add a prop if you’re so inclined, stand in front of the green screen, and snap! A photo worthy of this year’s holiday cards. The photos are added to your My Disney Experience account with the purchase of Memory Maker, but anyone can use the service without obligation and purchase photos individually. Be sure to ask for two or three backdrops.

248. Silence the Fireworks Still worried your kids aren’t ready for fireworks? If you’re staying at a Disney resort hotel, they can watch the fireworks in their pj’s on the in-room Disney On Demand channel.

382. Indulge in Giant Cookies Without the Wait Avoid the long queue for scrumptious baked goods at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs by visiting their original location at the East End Market. It’s located at 3201 Corrine Drive in Orlando, and you’ll find all the deliciousness of their massive specialty cookies there, with little or no wait.

My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟⛲️🎢🍕✨️

My thoughts: 🔖Page 32 of 254 Chapter 2 Disney For Less - This book has a lot of good tips, a few I did know.

These tips and hacks are impressive. Even when it came to the ones I knew, there was always additional information. The only tip I disagreed with was the one that implied: "Travel agents can also add discounts to existing reservations, which you can’t always do if you book on your own." #85 pg. 49 - Never heard of anyone having an issue, my cousin saved tons of money applying a new deal to her existing reservation and I haven't heard of anyone else having an issue, so I felt like this was the strategic misleading some TAs do to appear more valuable. Sorry. That was just one line out of one paragraph in a single tip out of 434 tips, so this book is gold. Unless I count the bonus tip on pg. 214 "It’s Tough to be a Bug! is utterly terrifying, and best avoided with kids under eight." Strongly disagree, it's the adults who freak out over the maggots, myself included; the 3-year-old & 7-year-old in our party wanted to repeat the show, but I agree with calculating your kids' scare factor. My friend's 4-year-old said The Tower of Terror was wack, but there are kids frightened by characters and mild rides that go up in the air. Anyway, there are tons of awesome tips here and hundreds of things I didn't think of and I've been reading Disney vacation books cover to cover for decades. This one is quick and to the point and would make an excellent reference guide, it's also available on audio.

Recommend to others: Yes! If you plan on visiting WDW read this book before you do anything.

Adams Media provided an early galley for review.

A trip to Disney can be a big undertaking, both in time and money. So, why not make the most of your vacation adventure by tapping into some tested tricks and tips?

This new edition takes into account a lot of recent changes (from the end of many iconic, beloved programs to updated attractions to price increases on everything from tickets to food and more). It will prepare the traveler for all of that. There is a lot of talk about using Genie+ and other Disney park related apps for better maximizing your experience.

The over 430 tips in this edition are broken up into nine chapters. Some will be useful for travelers with children, others can be skipped if they don't apply to your particular trip and party make-up. The maps of the parks in the back are simple but highly effective for knowing what's where and planning your attack before you walk through the gates.

As someone who has experienced the Florida parks at various stages in my life (twice as a child, twice as an adult - single and married, and then again a few times as a parent), many of these tips rang true to my own experiences. For that, I think others could glean useful information from this book.

This is a loosely compiled set of tips that is informative but can be a bit overwhelming. The topics cover a wide variety - from planning to dining, airplane tips to honeymoon parties - back lack an overall structure that would make it less likely to need to take notes for your specific situation while you read the book. To be sure, there is a lot of great information in here, even for the Disney adult who goes several times a year.

The book is broken down by the follow chapters: introduction, you're going to Walt Disney World!, Disney for less, plans/trams/automobiles, practical matters, theme parks like a pro, attractions to the max, home away from home, eating around the world, Disney with kids, maps, index. In each of these chapters are tips, most in one paragraph with a large title. Of course, due to copyright issues I am sure, there are no photographs nor illustrations with the exception of a custom drawn map of the parks at the back.

For those first timers, they will definitely get a lot out of the book, though I imagine most of it will be incredibly confusing. There's no lead in to the topics and they are only loosely grouped by the chapter heading. So there is no hand holding here and this does not take the place of a more thorough planner such as the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World or the official Birnbaum's Guide to Walt Disney World. As an example, you'll find tips for pretravel throughout - one chapter has airline tips, another has what to pack, and another on things to buy in advance. So I see this more as a companion book to a planner.

Because the tips are solid, I do believe you will get your money back and save a lot of time and annoyance through using this book. So this is indeed worth the cost. While it is useful before you go I can also see this as an excellent item to read on a flight over to Orlando. There are so many little things at WDW that can really make a huge difference in your experience of the trip if you only knew about them. More importantly, there are a lot of money and time sink traps that can be deftly sidestepped with foreknowledge that this book offers.

So while there's no hand-holding here and you'll need to take notes while reading, you can save a lot of time scouring the internet for tips and instead read a book where they are all compiled in one place for you. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

This is an excellent guidebook of tricks and hacks that everyone planning a trip to Disney World should get! I am really impressed with how comprehensive this guide is, while still being absolutely comprehensible even to people with no Disney experience! Easy to read and extremely informative!

This book is broken up into clear chapters to make it simple to find the tips you need. There are some really valuable secrets and advice that I definitely think makes this guide worth it! Disney World is absolutely a trip you need a plan for in advance if you want to have the best time possible, and that planning will become so much easier if you have this book. It even includes maps of the parks, which I always love to have in front of me when it comes to planning.

If you've never been to Disney World there are some really helpful tips that will make sure you and your family get the most out of your trip! If you go in blind, I definitely think you'll miss out on a lot. There's no reason to spend more than you have to or to skip rides because of long wait times when you could have this book of hacks to makes sure that doesn't happen. The point of a trip to Disney World is to have a magical experience. I would recommend this book just to help make sure you know everything you need to in order to get that magical experience.

But even speaking as someone who has been to Disney World a few times already, there is a lot of information that I found really useful! For one thing, there are a lot of changes in Disney World that someone who went as recently as three years ago like myself might struggle to deal with properly such as Genie+ or Lightning Lanes. So don't think just because you went before you shouldn't pick up this book. It definitely has advice you and your family can use!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was an okay guide to Disney World. I think that it is really geared towards a new visitor more than someone who has been multiple times, even though it was pitched in a way that implied it had hacks for new and old visitors alike. There just wasn't a lot that was new to me and that I was surprised by. That's not to say that there weren't a few tidbits and things I had forgotten, but not enough to make me rush out and buy this to take along on a trip.

That being said, for someone who has never been to Disney World or any of the Parks, this would be a useful book to read through for sure. And if you have young children, even more so. There are a lot of tips and tricks to help make your visit more economical and overall just easier. From places to eat, to Genie+ tips, to how to be comfortable when there is inclement weather, the book definitely delivers. If I had something like this to read before we traveled there the first time, I would have definitely benefitted.

If you are new to the Disney experience, this is a great guide to get you started and to help you get the most out of your visit no matter your budget, and especially if you are going with younger kids and have to think about things like strollers, snacks, and change stations.

If you have been to Disney before or are a regular, you may want to pick this up to see if there are any tips you missed. I didn't think about buying an annual pass, for example, if I was going for more than 10 days. And I have been to Disney a few times in a single year so ....

The only thing I felt was missing were a few photos here and there for some of the items, but maybe that will come with publication.

As a Disney specialist vacation planner and frequent visitor, I really, really know Walt Disney World. The author provided many tips that might have been useful for a first timer to know a while back — when those ideas were still true — but now they aren’t true or accurate, making much of the content unreliable.

The thing with Disney Parks and Resorts is that timelines, procedures, and rules are always changing—day to day and week to week. A reader who is unfamiliar with Walt Disney World and its constant state of change is unaware of this fact. Most people are not going to be invested in checking up on the Disney Company and their procedures daily to stay updated.

The existence of this book with wrong information solidifies the fact that a dated, printed guide will lead to a lot of disappointment. This book has a publish date of 2024 but some of the misinformation was not even true a year or two ago.

The way to know that everything will be taken care of on the correct dates and yes, even at the exact times of day, to make the plans that are important to you? Use an experienced authorized Disney vacation planner who frequently visits the parks to work on your behalf and guide you and your vacation plans. Certain things like booking dining or special experiences must be done to the minute at a certain time on a particular date to have the best chance of success.

A great Disney vacation planner will know all of this and when those dates and times are, plus dozens of other import pieces of information.

Are there some terrific tips in this book? There sure are! The problem is that the average person won’t know which tips those are, and which now-incorrect tips will ruin the plans you wanted.

I am a huge fan of Disney and have been to WDW several times. Most of the tips are valid and are helpful if you have never been to WDW or haven't been there in years. I found 1 tip in the whole book that I did not know and I am excited to try out the shopping app. Every time I have been at Disney and the store I was at didn't have the item, we would run around checking out the other stores hoping to find it. I did not know that I could download the app and search that way for in-stock items. I did skip all of Chapter 9 since I do not have nor plan to go to Disneyworld with children.

There were some tips that just did not make sense, like putting your mydisney screenshot as the lock screen or putting your name and phone number as the lock screen, that seems to be a big safety issue.

Also, not once did they mention to bring a portable charger OR to use the FuelRod portable chargers. Disney has the exchange kisoks in every park, so their tip of either turning your phone on and off, putting it in airplane mode (although that is effective) or just using one person's phone at a time and keeping the rest off, and then when one dies, turn the next one on would not make the most sense.

Overall, this book has some general, good tips but if you have been to Disney a few times or watch the disney youtube vloggers, this book would not be worth your money.

Walt Disney World Hacks, Second Edition came up as an available arc at a perfect time! With an upcoming family trip planned to Florida and Disney World I jumped at the opportunity to review in advance!

This was a great reference book with some really great tips. I loved how the author paid special attention to “newbie” hacks. I am not a newbie but can understand how overwhelming planning a special family trip can be.

There were loads of tips and tricks and easy to follow instructions on all things Disney. Whether you plan to stay on property or off, there is plenty to learn ahead of time.

I appreciated the detailed explanation on how to use the mobile app and tools to your advantage and especially liked the little known short cuts and advice for specific experiences.

While not necessary to have a great trip, this book really helps highlight and navigate some amazing experiences and tips that could enhance your trip. This is a 5 star for me and I’m excited to put most of this into practice for my upcoming trip!

Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I will preface my review by saying that if you’ve never been to Disney World (or haven’t been in 10+ years), there are some good tips mentioned in this book.

As someone who goes to Disney World a lot, I understand that it can be overwhelming. I would call myself a “Disney adult” and “Disney expert,” so I was very interested in this book when I received my ARC. However, it was not what I expected. While this is marketed as being hacks for Disney World, there were some points that it was just general travel tips or overall advice in general. There were also some inaccuracies (dining reservations can only be made 60 days in advance, not 180; Disney World is “the most magical place on earth” and Disneyland is “the happiest place on earth”).

I also think that books like this are a bit outdated. There are SO MANY Disney vloggers/influencers nowadays that are providing daily updates on what is going on at Disney World.
When someone asks me for Disney advice, I provide some personal tips and point them to my favorite vloggers/influencers.

Overall, I see what the authors were trying to do, but I don’t think it was executed in this best way.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I am a frequent Walt Disney World Resort Adult guest, and I looked forward to seeing the tips in this book.

I'll address the nails on a chalkboard first. Please do not recommend doing Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in part for 'free' by being in the back of the park for starting time. This is not fair to cast members who have to flush non-paying members out of the park and to those who paid top dollar to be in that park during the party hours.

Some of the book was up to date with Tiana's Bayou Adventure (instead of Splash Mountain), but other parts were painfully out of date. The ADR (advanced dining reservation) has been at 60 days instead of 180 days for quite a while. Be Our Guest no longer offers ala carte options for lunch.

That said....there are many good and solid tips about park touring that would enhance many vacations. For general tips (Genie +, free ice waters in the parks, how to travel with a large group, etc....) are covered and valid advice about how to best maximize your experience in the Disney Parks.

Great book with lots of awesome tips and hacks for a successful trip to Walt Disney World!

A few bits of feedback:
I would've appreciated some tips about hotels and their proximity, the transport options from the hotels, and the early half an hour access if staying at the Disney hotels.

There was a section for Disney with kids, but around 40% (a guesstimate) of other tips and hacks in the book all related to having kids with you anyway. As someone who doesn't have children, but still wants some tips for Disney world, a lot of these weren't actually relevant.

This is definitely more so aimed at domestic travellers - As an overseas traveller, there were many references to internal programs, apps and travel that I found irrelevant.

Overall, a very well researched book, and visitors travelling to Walt Disney World will absolutely benefit from giving this a very thorough read.

This book is full of suggestions to plan your visit to Disney World. Some advice is general, and could be used for any vacation (take extra socks in case your socks get wet..) Other information is very specific to the parks in Orlando. The authors advise that planning begin 180 days in advance of your visit.

The Genie + program seems to have so many variables depending on the time, date, and season, it makes the description rather confusing. Much of the advice given is geared toward families with small children and can be valuable for parents who haven't visited previously. For those guests who haven't been to Disney before and are planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip, the book will be a valuable planning tool. Return visitors might find the book less useful.

A recommended purchase for first time visitors with small children

This is a great book for first timers or those who have not been to Walt Disney World in a while. There are a ton of great tips and tricks in the book but I did find some information dated, like the part about dining reservations. The book states you can make reservations 180 days out but that has changed t0 60 days.

Walt Disney World Hacks covers a lot of different topics but it doesn't feel overwhelming. The chapters are set up nicely and the information is organized. Some of the tips and tricks mentioned in this book were not in other guide books (think The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World) which is why I think this would be a great companion for those looking for more information.

Thank you Netgalley and Adams Media for this ARC.

Wow! This book has so much information that I will have to read it again. It's just a down and nitty gritty list of all the Hacks and how to use them. Strangely the only picture you will find is on the page for each section.
There are some great suggestions for beginners and pros alike.

It's broken up into the following sections:
1.You are going to Walt Disney World
2. Disney for less
3 Planes, Trams and Automobiles
4 Practical Matters
5. Theme Parks Like a Pro
6. Attractions to the Max
7. Home Away from Home
8. Eating around the world
9 Disney with kids
Also Maps of the parks for all of your planning needs.

This book is GREAT for a first time Disney World visitor. There is a lot of good information in here and it's laid out well! There is a lot of little tips that i'm not sure other people will think to mention to a first time visitor (example: making thank you cards ahead of time) and it would be helpful.
If you are a frequent Disney World visitor, this book may not be extremely useful for you.. but, if you are missing WDW and just love to read about it while planning a trip, I think this book is still enjoyable. Personally, I have read some of the tidbits that are directly interesting to my kids, out loud to them. They enjoy it and sometimes gives them ideas for our next trip.

I have been to Disney world 3 times in the last five years and the advice given in this book is up to date and useful for anyone who hasn't visited Disney World recently. There are fun Pro Tips as well as advice for beginners, like where the ride cameras are located.
Unlike traditional guide books this one reads like the best advice from friends, family, and message boards.
The only thing missing was some photos or graphics.

Out of date! Don’t trust that the information in this book will be accurate on your trip because it’s definitely not. I stopped reading after the first chapter because it kept talking about Genie+, which no longer exists, and making dining reservations 180 days before your trip, which you can’t do.
