How It Ends: Part 3 - The Transformation
”How It Ends Part 3 – The Transformation” finds the senior executive Eric in damage control mode with the Board of Directors. The profession review perform by Sidney resulted in a devastating evaluation, with the recommendation that the robotic physician program be shut down, a move that could cost Eric’s robotics company, DKI, untold amounts in revenue.
Sidney and Anita, meanwhile, are commissioned by DKI to re-evaluate the robotic physician Kilgore in the hope that a second evaluation will convince Sidney to change his mind. But this time, Kilgore is working in the emergency room of the hospital, and what Sidney witnesses there will shake him to his very core.
And what of the love-struck robot Gammons? Even as Eric sets in motion a ruthless plan to move his secretive cybernetics project forward, Gammons moves forward with his own plan—a plan to transform himself into a being Anita can love.
This is part three of the serial novel "How It Ends", the story of Anita, a young graduate student; Brian, the smarmy college professor whom Anita is dating; Sidney, a professorial colleague of Brian’s who reluctantly takes Anita on as a research assistant; Kilgore, a robotic doctor who provides the human characters fascinating insights as to how the “mind” of a robot really works; Eric, a cut-throat executive in the nation’s largest robotics firm who is not above getting his hands dirty to get what he wants; and Gammons, Eric's robot assistant who has a special circuit for feeling emotion like a human.
To immerse yourself in the lives of these characters is to be swept into the increasing speed of the story until, at last, their lives collide in a global apocalypse and you find out “How It Ends”.

An interesting sci-fi book by an indie author. Any sci-fi book which has a character reference Beowulf gets points from me! An intriguing meditation on what makes us human.
