Min Thompson has a problem.

Her best friend of basically forever, Taylor Lane thinks her boyfriend of umpteen years is dumping her. Only thing is, Min knows he’s not. So while Taylor wants to go out and do something stupid in retaliation, Min has to try and prevent her from doing something she’ll regret, all while trying to appear supportive.

A lifetime of being known as “the quiet one” never prepared her for this.

Faux Valentine has a solution.

Sheer luck lands Faux right in Taylor’s chosen venue for revenge. While he has no interest in the pissed off princess herself, he’s always had a thing for her best friend. The one who desperately needs his help. Now that he’s got his little mouse where he wants her, what is he willing to do to keep her there?

Nothing could have prepared him for her.

Warning: This book contains foul language, allusions to underage drinking, circumventing the legal drinking age, and sexual situations.

...I'm really starting to hate these with a never ending passion...

Born the only daughter of a pirate and a gypsy, Lola discovered the secret of time travel... and in doing so accidentally caused the destruction of the Roanoke Colony. When asked, her response was "Oops, my bad." She now maintains the flow of time with her hyper-intelligent Raptor side-kick (Fabian), a phone booth than can travel sideways through time, and a bracelet that transforms her into an ass-kicking costumed super hero in a yellow power suit. Writing dirty books is just a cover so no one gets too close and learns her secret.

Having met the author in September I was excited for her to ask me to read this novella !! I always enjoy meeting and reading new authors. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease and flow of the story. Knowing it would be quick since it was a novella there was still enough detail to allow a connection between myself and Min. I suffer anxiety and in the past it was social but thankfully that has since diminished. It is not easy living in this world with any kind of disorder labeled or not. Min may have her quirks and her slightly odd approach to social situations but it is wonderful seeing her come out of that shell with Faux and to also see her tell Taylor where to go !!

At the start we meet Min and her roommate Taylor , they also live with Min's twin Graham , who happens to be Taylor's boyfriend since childhood. They seem to have this quaint little circle and I enjoyed the banter and hilariousness of the friends. Min has a strange run in at the store while buying an embarrassing item and of course the repeat interactions with her coffee shop man that leave her wanting but feeling so out of his league. After Taylor blows something out of proportion they end up in Montreal , at a strip club , totally out of Min's comfort zone !! Oddly enough coffee shop man , Faux , and a few local friends end up there as well. When Min drinks she also loosens up and talks A LOT , as does Taylor !! This makes for a funny situation and a few insights to Min and Ian and also Faux and his feelings. Min and Faux have a wonderful night and things may finally be looking up for Min !!

I enjoyed Min and Faux's interactions and revelations , so sweet and innocent !! I was so glad that Min told Taylor off and shut her down. I am shocked at how snotty she actually is. If there was more to this I would definitely enjoy reading on !!

I am totally not the target demographic for this novel. Contemporary romance isn't my cup of tea at all. That's the only reason I've not given this book five stars.

The four stars are for almost one reason: Rayne has a fantastic writing style. It's filthy and funny and it always makes me smile. She could probably write a treatise on farming tools of the 1300s and it'd still be an enjoyable read. It's also a very honest style; nothing is held back, not for nothing, and that means every character feels very real, even the minor ones.

Were there flaws, yes. It was a little short for my tastes (but, having said that, it might be the standard length for this genre), and I think Min came off a little dense at times. I know she thinks no-one pays her a second thought, but she could surely pick up on the hundreds of clues? But it was handled quite well so, again, the writing comes to the rescue.

Basically, I think you should check it out. If I don't like the genre and I liked Min, you probably will too.

I was honoured to be thanked in Rayne's acknowledgments. Now, this book is steaaaamy. Pretty much a one sitting read. And I really enjoyed seeing Min's extreme social anxieties. I thought it was handled in a genuine manner that was totally organic to character. The surprising friendship with Ian was well done and I definitely wanted to rip Taylor's eyes out by the end.

This week I read this awesome novella by Lola Rayne - and it was awesome!! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'd read Lola Rayne before and loved her work, so I was excited. This book is completely different from the other book I read from her, but it was so perfect.

Fate was a fucking shady bitch.

So Min is this nineteen year old student. She lived with her twin brother, Graham, and her best friend, Taylor. Oh, and Taylor and Graham have been a couple forever, to add to any awkwardness that might happen there. But Min herself, she's a handful. Shy doesn't even begin to describe her. Merely bumping into her crush sends her from the coffee shop in tears. She beats herself up over social situations, and will literally lock herself in her room for days at a time. She's earned the nickname of Mouse (as in Minnie) because she is just so quiet. But lucky us, as the reader, we get a peek into her head - and in her head she's boisterous and funny and snarky, and just really someone awesome. And Min has this crush on a guy whose name is Faux. Faux Valentine. Hahaha, yep, what a name.

Faux is dark and tattooed and pierced. He plays guitar and he looks the part of the bad boy. He is gorgeous. But even more than that, we discover he has a big thing for Min. And even when he comes out and says it, she is so disbelieving. It's truly endearing while still being a bit frustrating.

Well, like the blurb says. There's been some infidelity on the part of Graham. And as best friend to Taylor, it's Min's job to go out with her and live it up. This book takes place over a night, and the surprises are around every corner! I won't spoil those for you, but let me tell you, they left a ton of exclamation marks in my brain. The night is spent for the most part at a strip club, and drinks will be had. Lots of drinks. And I just want to mention, these young adults go to Canada for drinking, and I totally identified with this!! I'm not from New England at all, but here in Detroit, we are right across the river from Canada, and everyone knows that drinking starts legally at 19 there, rather than the 21 here. So you can bet your ass that every weekend the border is full of people looking to cross over and have some fun.

Faux and Min begin earlier as this pair of people who annoy each other, as it would seem. Kind of a love/hate thing. Only Min isn't exactly seeing the situation for what it is, so when the smoke clears and she sees exactly what Faux is saying to her, it's sublime. And let's talk heat - this book doesn't give overly graphic, but OMG. You can definitely get lost in the moment when these two start touching and kissing. They kiss and you know they are meant for each other, and that is exactly what I look for in a couple. I want to see the chemistry, and Lola Rayne definitely delivers in spades.

So if you want a quick read infused with sex, drama, intense situations, and general good times, you definitely need to pick this book up. It's fun and hot, and will definitely keep you turning the pages!

I am a little late getting this review done, and I really regret not reading the book sooner. I picked it up yesterday morning, and the book didn’t close until I reached the end.

Our main character, Min, is a little hard to explain. Racked with a severe case of social anxiety, she doesn’t handle public situations well. She doesn’t really handle them at all. She clams up and doesn’t talk. Yet, when she’s around her friends or when you’re reading internal dialog, she carries the author’s signature snark and humor. As the reader, you can see from the very beginning that the character has the potential to blossom into a really strong female lead. I cant want to get my hands on the next book to see how she progresses further in getting over her crippling fears to really take control of her life.

Our main male character, Faux, doesn’t really seem like a “main” character when we are first introduced to him, but when he really makes his big entrance in the story, I challenge any female reader not to fall madly in love with this man. He’s got the hot looks and the swagger to be able to win over even the frostiest of pearl-clutchers out there. The banter between Faux and Min is priceless. These two characters could not possibly be more different, and yet, they play perfectly off of each other.

As I mentioned, there is plenty of humor in this book. There are even some parts that were so funny, I had to stop reading for a few minutes because I was losing my shit laughing at my desk. If not for any other reason, you need to read this book simply for the description of a stripper’s dancing. I’m not going to blow it because you totally need to read it for yourself. Just trust me….fucking hilarious.

When I write my reviews, I try to list out anything I didn’t like about the book. I have been sitting here going over the Kindle copy to try and nail down anything I took issue with and I came up empty handed. The book is pure entertainment from the very first page. The love story is so sweet and yet unbelievably hot at the same time. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.

One thing I will caution is I feel this book starts to dip its toes into the erotic romance pool. It doesn’t take a headfirst dive into the erotic romance pool, but it’s definitely not far off from doing so. Listed as New Adult Contemporary Romance, I was pleasantly surprised by how HOT the book is. One scene in particular had me feeling a bit like a Peeping Tom, and there isn’t even full-on sex in it! Hot hot hot!

Overall, Min is an excellent, quick read. I am dying to know what happens in the next book! This is a series I will definitely be following.

This was a really fun story! I loved Min! She suffers from anxiety issues and that's something I can relate to.

Min's a twin, Graham not only lives with her but he is her best friends boyfriend and Taylor also lives with them.

Min, has always been the quiet one. She has a love for video games and she prefers that over going out and partying. When Taylor tells Min that Graham has broken up with her and she wants Min to go to a strip club with her, Min is hesitant but she gives in.

After arriving at the strip club, which is not even the same country, things start to happen that Min wasn't prepared for.

Faux Valentine wants Min. Nothing is more surprising to the 2 of them when they run into each other at the same strip club. Min has been drinking so she has started opening up a little more and asks Faux "didn't I just see you in Durham?" To which Faux replies, " Yeah, but after the girl I like ran away from me crying, my friends decided to kidnap me." Min is actually jealous over this statement, she has feelings for Faux, what she doesn't realize is that he also has feelings for her, and that girl who ran crying from him was her.

As the night progresses our 2 love birds start to get to know each other. Then of course one thing leads to another and they finally get on the same page with each other.

I really enjoyed this novella! It was sweet, innocent, romantic and just adorable.

I would love to see it go further. I would love to be able to follow this couple on their journey and see how things progress for them!

***I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review***
