E.N.D.A.Y.S.: ENDAYS, Book 1
There are a billion realities out there, each protected by Jump Division, an interdimensional task force dedicated to preserving the stability of the grid.
However, not all agents are created equal. Some are just arseholes.
Marcus Hayes is one such arsehole. He's loud, brash, walks away from explosions in slow motion, and pretty much everyone hates him.
After yet another mission going awry due to him being a dick, he's stationed on a mundane world as punishment.

This review is on A Lovely Day To End The World (Book 1 of The Endays Series), by Lee Isserow. This is the first book I have read by this Sci-Fi author. This story is an end of world science fiction espionage thriller set in a multiuniverse with inter-dimensional travel.
First, you have to believe that multiple realities exist in the universe and that people can travel between dimensions or realities using the “Meta”, which is the “connective tissue that binds matter together”. Now that we have that out of the way, we can begin with the Jump Division.
The Jump Division is composed of an elite force of agents trying to keep the “dimensional grid” stable by travelling between alternate and parallel realities wherever threats arise. One of these agents is named Marcus Hayes. He is a complete “arsehole” who thinks he is the smartest, bravest, most skilled covert agent alive. Of course, he has a bad attitude, is egotistical, disobeys most orders, acts without thinking and can’t understand why everybody hates him. As the story opens, Marcus Hayes is standing before three trial judges demanding an explanation for his inexplicable actions during his last mission that did not turn out as expected.
Based on the tribunal judgment, Marcus Hayes is sent on a new mission where the world is not aware of the Meta or the science and technology that allows inter-dimensional travel. Marcus does not bother to learn the details of his new mission and plans to bumble through it as usual. Unfortunately for Hayes, he is about to encounter a truly end of world situation that prevents him from leaving and returning home before the world is about to be destroyed. Marcus truly believes he is the only agent that can save the world in spite of his ineptitude.
I give this book Five Stars because the story is entertaining, original and humorous. The plot is filled with mystery and suspense. The action is nonstop and full of pandemonium. The main character is so flawed and unlikeable that it’s hard to understand why the story is so interesting. The story and dialog are well written and easy to follow. The scientific and technical explanations are plausible and easy to understand. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what chaos Marcus creates and how he gets out of it.

Love Lee Isserow for his horror? Now you can love him just as much for his quirky humor! With a big over-the-top, mouthy charicature hero that you can laugh at and love to hate in a sci-fi future filled with phenomenal tech to satisfy all the junkies, comes a fanciful end of days tale steeped in thrills and mystery.
Marcus Hayes, our hero, in love with the idea of his own heroism! The man no one can stand, bane of his partner's existence. Enemy of his own Jump Division! Hayes body is pumped up on nanos, nearly as much machine as man, bumbling through life trying live the blurred image of his imagination.
Kali, Marcus controller, hidden in a box division of space, a voice of command, issuing directives that are too often ignored.
Judge Phillips, the man who holds Marcus Hayes fate and the fate of a poor undertech world in in his hands.
After one too many screw ups, Marcus is grounded on an underdeveloped, technologically speaking, planet, in London. There he finds himself in the midst of a plot to end this poor planet's existence. Unfortunately for eveyone, as usual, Marcus Hayes sees himself as everyone's hero, standing tall and poised in his mind.
Can Hayes save the doomed planet? Can the planet be saved from Hayes?
Filled with numerous interesting characters, some more fleeting than others, and many great adventures, this is one hilarious thrill ride you won't want to miss!

It was really good. I enjoyed it. Hayes wasn't likeable guy that was for sure. Even though he was the hero. He's very stubborn. I liked the whole jumping around and plus saving the world too

Kindle Unlimited or got on freebie day depending on which story/collection. Very odd writer, not a bad thing, unusual, and for someone such as me that read, a LOT {10-20 or more book, a DAY} that's saying something. See the list of books below? That's just not a be nice and list them all, that's the list of books am reading at this sitting, pretty sure that was all of them. If I missed any or it says not verified {because no matter how many hundreds have spent over the last 3 years, plus ku, never says verified on mine unless freebie day etc} the writer can feel free to send them to me lol {serious not serious but mostly serious}. The more I read of him, the more the southern 'bless his heart' kicks in, wondering just how many times and ways that poor boy was dropped on his head, how hard, and if on purpose. Interesting reading though...because of?

Loud mouthed, arrogant, complaining, self opinionated, gun happy, rude, and completely careless of anyone's opinion, Hayes is not the usual type of hero out to save the world. Yet this is what he is tasked with after he is sent to earth on a punishment mission (yes, he has apparently been an insufferable agent previously and nobody likes him) to Earth with long suffering partner, Callie. Why are they there? Well, it would help if he ever read his orders...
This is a well written, exciting science fiction thriller, often very funny and constantly surprising. Terrific dialogue, too, despite the constant 'f' word in almost every sentence uttered - but who can blame the poor people who have to endure Hayes, the man who never listens? This dialogue is excellently dramatised by the author, also the narrator, with distinctive and fitting voices for each character. His is also a very pleasant, rounded and honeyed reading voice but, initially, a downward intonation at the end of every text sentence other than speech, annoyed this listener, distracting from the story. But stick with it as this affectation dwindles and barely intrudes as the book progresses and action speeds up to near frantic pace.
A really fun, enjoyably unusual book, wholeheartedly recommended . I received my copy of E.N.D.A.Y.S. as a gift from the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. My thanks for that. Since this is book 1, I assume there will be more to follow and i very much look forward to hearing them and renewing acquaintance with the insufferable Hayes
