OMG! I may have a complete anxiety breakdown waiting for this series to be complete! It is soooo addicting and great! This is book 3 in the series and it has kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. So let’s get down to business.
Book 2 left me broken hearted and crushed for both Luke and Angel. Angel is heartbroken. She thinks Cash took Luke off to the river and killed him. That was the last straw for her. Angel had always dreamed of a life away from her grandfather and the confines of the compound she was raised in. The death of Luke was all she needed to finally break free and run. Now she just has to figure out what to do with her new found freedom. Too bad others have other plans for her. (no spoilers but I was ready to scream!!)
Luke, on the other hand, is back to his world before all hell broke loose in his life. He was debriefed and all he can think about is bringing justice to the men that aided in taking Dex’s life and getting Angel away from the compound. Once he finds out that Angel is no longer there, he is determined to find her, no matter the costs. Lots of twists and turns later, I have no fingernails left on any of my fingers!
The end of the book is not a huge cliffhanger but there is a storm brewing. Literally and figuratively. Tess leaves us with thundering and lightening. I see your brilliant writing brain working there. And OMG my brain is freaking. There’s a section that blew my mind with possible deep seeded secrets and a HUGE scandal. It may be my imagination going into overload but oh the possibilities! I cannot wait for the next book. I am hooked. If you haven’t read this series, go 1-click and meet Luke and Angel. You won’t regret it!!!
Rain Shadow 3 starts up right where 2 ended and let me tell you, this part is even more intense than the first two and they were very intense. It starts out where Luke is able to get back to his place and his position in the DEA. After he is debriefed, he makes it his mission to reconnect with Angel-there is a problem with that, which leaves Luke madder than hell and anxious, and very very scared- and you will have to read this to find out what happens with Angel. This book is filled with so many twists and turns to the plot that Tess Oliver keeps you guessing and the plot is thickening even more if that is possible. There is a lot of angst of different types between all of the characters, and when loyalty is one of the issues, you just know that it is going to be really bad for those in question. Also is the fact that a lot of people think Luke(Reno) is dead and that leaves Angel hopeless and heart broken-and when some awful things happen, she just is more miserable and hopeless than before.
So now we have these questions to wonder about: Will Angel survive what happens to her? How will she handle life without her Luke-her knight in shining armor? What happens with the situation with Dreygon, will he ever be held accountable for everything he has done? And that he continues to do? what will happen to those that he thinks betrayed him? Will this book have a happy ending? And my own personal question-what happens to Angel's pets-her horse, her dogs, her Aunt's cat, lol well it's a legitimate question!
With all of these questions and oh so much more than I can mention, you can see how intense this series is! Between the angst of love, hate, death, insanity, and cruelty, being safe again, hoping for miracles, and a plot that thickens and is getting ready to explode-well lets just say this book will be on your mind long after you have finished it and I think it will probably be in the running for best new book of 2014-yes it is that good! With such a great cast of characters, such a great plot and the angst that chokes you up,all I can say is- read this book- it is going to leave you waiting for the next two parts to hurry along!
I rated this part as 5***** stars, and might I add that Tess Oliver has given me a massive book hangover,I can't wait for part four!! Thanks for such a great read, Tess Oliver! You have great books, but this book by far is your best book ever! Congratulations on being such a great author, and I know I will be reading your new books for a long time to come!
I was kindly given an ARC for an honest review so.......
Book 3 - Wow, Tess really pulled the stops out. Book 2 ends with Angel escaping the MC compound and Dreygon Sharpe's nasty ar*e clutches. She still thinks that Luke is dead, so emotionally she's not in a stella place.
However, happy readers Luke is very much alive.....yay you cry !! He is desperately trying to re-unite with Angel, bring the bad guy's responsible for Dex's death to justice and keep his miraculous resurrection on the low down - tall order ?, why yes it is.
I really, really liked this book. If I am being honest I think its my favorite to date. The book begins with Angel trying to "make it in the world outside the compound" and having being kept on a short lease by her grandfather finds being the outside world quite a hardship. Down on money, friendship and reeling from the loss of Luke, Angel's like a poor lost soul. She's needs her big, hunky DEA agent a.k.a Luke to swoop in and steal her away from life's crap. Just sayin'....
The story has some cute characters "poodle mama" = Loved her !! and Tracy the waitress = erm I would love to see her and Seth get together. Just a comment Tess !!
Anyhow, there is a whole host of action, which I soooo will not give away as you need to read the book ;). But honestly, I was on the edge of my seat growling at certain d**khead characters who REALLY need to get their comeuppance. You know who you are !!!!!
There was a lot of action and the drama rating seriously increased in book 3. Jeyz again the cliffy ending had me sputtering for more. And I will sooooo be having more !!!
Angel still is an awesome leading lady, she is in this book a little more fragile. Still thoroughly cool though.
As for Luke......he's purrrrfect !!! enough said !!
I enjoyed reading about Seth, Gage and Jericho (although that poor baby had some crap to deal with in this book courtesy of Dreygon). Yep, ya'll need to read the series to find out more !!
I cannot wait for book 4 and I seriously hope Tess decides to do spin off's for Seth, Gage, Jericho and Cash....huba, huba !!
5 "Barringer Brother's" supa stars from me !!
Thanks for the opportunity Tess and well done on another knock out book x
In this sequel, it picks up straight from the previous one. Angel is walking the highway to escape the family and hitches a ride with a female truck driver. Luke is being debriefed by the DEA and his brothers. They all need to come to terms with Dex's death. Angel makes her way to a motel and hides out for a while, working out where best to run to. Unfortunately things just don't go her way. Gunner finds her and he is going to use her as a leverage to become President of the MC. Little does he know, Dreygon has something else planned. Luke is on the case, after securing the bikers who held him and Dex captive, he is now fully concentrating on finding his Angel. Will he "Slay the Dreygon?" (You know I had to go there!)
Things do heat up in this book, but knowing its book three out of five, not everything is wrapped up for us. But that is Ok because I am sure going to love heading into book four to see how it all pans out. I am really enjoying this series and super happy I can go from one book to the next without any delays. I love the way Tess can weave the mysteries into the story without them being too obvious and keeping it realistic and interesting. She truly is clever at her craft.
I received a copy for an honest review. Review for JoandIsaLoveBooks Blog.
As with the first two books in this series I loved this one! This book made me think that Gunner is even more of a douche than the first two books! Luke is the knight in shining armor and even though Angel is a smart, strong woman she has been so sheltered her whole life in the compound that you realize she has many vulnerabilities! I loved getting to know Luke's police family and his brothers, his brothers were great added characters to this series. I am not sure where this series is headed but I have a few inklings, I just hope that they can get Angel away from the motorcycle clubs for good so that she can live a worry free life and pursue her dreams in the medical field. I cannot wait for the next installment in the Rain Shadow series so I can see if they finally can take Dreygon down so that Angel and Luke can live in peace. Again great writing Tess!
I received an ARC for my honest review. I have to say that I love Tess Oliver's books. She draws you in with her characters and then leads you on an adventure as you follow Luke and Angel as they run from her grandfather and his biker gang. Every time I think I have an idea where the story is headed it changes directions. Will Luke be able to get Angel out of the compound? Will Angel make it on her own as she flees her grandfather? Will she ever find out Luke is alive? Will Luck ever find out Angel let the compound? You will find answers to those questions and end up with new ones. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens.
LOVED IT!!! This series keeps getting better and better. Now that Angel thinks that Luke (Reno) is dead, she knows she has to leave the compound. But life outside the compound is far from safe for her. When Luke finds out she is not longer there, he does everything in his power to get her back. There are lots of twists and turns in this series. I couldn't put this one down.
Mixed feelings about this one. Here's what I liked. I like the author and I've really liked several of her books. I liked all the parts of this 3rd book of the series with Angel and especially found the scenes with Gunner interesting. The older brother, Gage, seems a little mysterious and am anxious to learn more about him. Which brings up something I've wondered. The series is the Barringer Brothers, but the focus of these are solely on Luke. Not sure if Seth and Gage will have their own series or if it's built into this one. this story did have less of a dark and gritty feel to it than the first two. Overall, this story felt much different now that they're away from the compound.
Here's what didn't work for me. CONTAINS SPOILERS.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. (and again, I really do like several of the author's books and am looking forward to the final two parts of this story!!)
Jaymee's Review ***ARC Provided by Tess Oliver for an Honest Review*** 4 Stars
Rain Shadow Book 3 is the third book out of five is the Barringer Brother series by Tess Oliver. All five books must be read in order to get the full story of Luke and Angel. This whole series will have you on the edge of your seat between the hot romance, the dangers of the motorcycle club and Angel's psychotic grandfather who is president of the MC there is never a dull moment. Book 3 picks up right where book two left off, I can't say too much without giving away spoilers so this review might be a little brief!
Each book is short but action packed and this one was no exception! Luke is as tough as ever and will stop at nothing to get back to the woman he loves only nothing is going according to plan. Poor Angel continuously goes from one bad situation to another in her quest to free herself and move on with her life. There were parts of this book that had me cursing my kindle on her behalf, she deserves a chance and not one damn thing ever seems to go her way. She is such a strong, caring, sweet character who keeps pushing forward even when she doesn't seem to have a chance. I love that about her, she will never give up no matter how bleak things seem. We get to see another side of Luke in this book, he is back home and at the DEA doing everything in his power to get justice for Dex and to find Angel. If its possible I love him even more now! We also get to know his brothers a little bit and they end up playing an important role in Luke and Angel's lives, I like them already, especially Seth! The author has an amazing ability when it comes to creating and writing her characters, they feel so real and I really hope we get to know Luke's brothers better over the next books.
This book had some killer twists and suspense, the talented Tess Oliver really knows how to keep a reader captivated and how to blow our minds! There were a few twists, especially concerning the grandfather that I NEVER saw coming. At one point I was sure it was all over for one of our characters but then again nothing is as it seems. I feel as though this novel was extra suspenseful because there is definitely something big coming, i could feel it especially at the end. Things seemed to quiet down but I'm sure that all hell is going to break loose in the next book. Tess has definitely gained a life long reader in me, I love this series so far and can't wait to see what happens!
Storyline: suspenseful! Female Character: Fighter, resilient Male Character: Strong, determined, loves fully Author's Writing Style: detailed, well developed Plot Twists: full of them! Laugh Factor: none Cry Factor: none Steam Factor: hot but not too many scenes Violence: some

Angel has escaped the compound and her controlling grandfather, the leader of the Bedlam MC. She was unprepared for life outside the walls of the club and still in a state of deep depression over Luke’s murder. She is hitchhiking a few miles from the compound and is picked up by a woman trucker. Angel feels safe with the woman and rides with her to a town that has a bus stop. She takes a room at a rundown motel and sinks into further depression. Finally pulling herself together she goes out to have breakfast at the local café when she is spotted by Gunner her grandfather’s ex-second in command.
Luke must save Angel! He had promised her that he would not leave without her and so now he knows he must get her away from her grandfather, whatever the cost. With the help of his department they capture the men that took him and his partner captive. Luke contacts the agent that was to pull Cash out of the compound and ask him to help Angel get out too. When the agent contacts him with the information that Angel ran away from the compound, Luke goes crazy. Where will she go? Who will protect her? Angel knows nothing about the outside world, she needs him! Will he find her in time? The answers are in the book! It is a must read!
Would I recommend this book: Yes! This book is unbelievable and is all about Luke and Angel finding each other in a world that is determined to keep them apart! This is a MUST read series that will have you wanting more!
Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Ms. Oliver is a fantastic writer that delivers a phenomenal book every time!
***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***
This is not a standalone. It is number 3 in the Barringer Brothers series. Must be read in sequence. When I started this book ,I felt like there hadn't been any time lapse. It immediately picked up where book 2 finished. That along with the timeframe of releases made reading and following along so much better. There wasn't a need to review the previous books and struggle to remember every detail. It was/is still fresh in memory. Excellent continuation of a 5 star storyline and characters. The drama and suspense - mystery and resolutions- life lessons and emotional impacts- acceptance and devastation - only a few of the themes held within. I was pulled into the plot by the amazing writing. I describe it as wash away. The reading was so smooth and fast. I jumped into the story and it just flowed around me. I was at a total loss for my immediate surroundings. Complete engrossment. Heart wrenching and soul attaching characters return from the previous books. I was also thrilled to meet a few new supportive and enhancing roles. I try not to do spoilers. So let me just say-- a sassy women trucker and a sweet protective waitress....... I can't say I am a fan of all those mean cruel -- my point being love and hate relationships for me as well. I did find myself talking out loud (usually to myself). I quarreled, laughed, cheered, bout fell out of my seat, yelled run, jump, hide, even oh no you didn't a few times, etc. I was all over the place. Just when I thought I had it figured out, let me just say I didn't. There's a twist and turn around every flip of a page. Definitely a journey of escape and survival you don't want to miss. I highly recommend reading this series. I can't wait for book 4. I have a feeling more surprises and thrills await. Treat yourself to these magnificent books. You won't be disappointed. Nothing here but love for TO!!!!!!!!! AndreaAH
Another fast paced adventure ride in this amazing new MC series from Tess Oliver. That's what I love most about this thrilling story; the danger and suspense and adventure. There were many times while reading it that I was holding my breath! Angel is drifting, scared and alone, and the worst part is that she believes Luke is dead. Her heart is completely shattered and she is bereft. Leaving all that she has ever known behind, without any real plan to survive is probably not the smartest thing she has ever done. She is fortunate to come across some amazing ladies on her short journey away from Dreygon and the compound, but her past catches up with her.
Luke is busy tying up loose ends, making sure the men that tortured him and Dex are behind bars. He is scrounging around to find Angel and make sure she is safe as well. When he finds out she left the compound and no one knows where she is, he almost goes crazy with worry. He is so in love with her, and the thought of never touching or seeing her again is something that he doesn't even want to entertain. With the help of his brother Seth and unlikely help from some MC brothers, he goes in search for his lost love.
With the addition of new characters, more development between Luke and his brothers Seth and Gage and the undying love between Luke and Angel, this third installment is a fantastic read! It's so easy to get lost in the world of the Dreygon and Luke and Angel, that it definitely leaves you wanting more. Tess is an amazing writer, bringing her characters to life seemingly effortlessly.
Reno "Luke Barringer" is more determined than ever to bring down the Bedlam MC, get the men who were responsible for his partner dying, and Saving Angle from Dreygon. But its not going to be easy. The third book in the Barringer series, is action and danger non stop. With Reno on the hunt for the club, and Angle, its a real page turner. Hoping every page you turn, that Angle & Reno will be reunited. Angle finally able to escape, makes a run for a better future. But she cant seem to get away from the club life. A rival gang, blackmail, and kidnapping takes Angle from one bad place to another. Sick, and hurt all angle wishes for is that Reno was there to save her. Luke with help from his brothers will stop at nothing to save her, even if it means getting even closer to the mess with the MC. But strong alpha Reno saves his girl, & gets the scum who took away his partner, but its not over. Far from it. Angle and him on gonna have to hide out. There's no way Dreygons going to let Angle go that easy. There's secrets, and danger around ever Corner. The only way Reno can protect angle is by taking her away. But will that keep her grandfather from finding her?? I need to know. With all the secrets and mystery surrounding Angle, the MC, and the past. I just know book four is gonna be as kick ass as the first three. Reno, sexy in a bulletproof vest, who can ride a motorcycle, with a habit for dirty talk, is quickly becoming a new favorite in my book boyfriend collection!
After the cliffhanger ending of book two in the Barringer Brothers series I've been on the edge of my seat waiting to discover what happened next. Thank God Ms. Oliver is releasing the books in the series fairly soon so I didn't have to wait to get my next fix.
This time, Reno has been reunited with his brother's and developing a plan to rescue Evangeline away from her evil grandfather incarnate. Little does he know but she does what every school sufficient modern girl does, she rescues herself!
Now that Evangeline is on the run she must figure out a way to get out of the area before she is discovered. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen and she finds herself captured by one of her grandfather's men who has a secret plan of his own underway.
Meanwhile, Luke/Reno, discovers Evangeline is on the run and decides to go after her. He also gets a very unexpected visit from someone he never expected. One thing for sure, Reno is on a mission and he is not about to let anyone get in his way.
Besides the action, intense and hot love making scenes, I really enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters better. It certainly sets the stage for spin off series for the other brothers. Additionally, I found it amazing how each new installment just gets better and better. Make no mistake my friends this is a definite book to be read and savored.
I honestly don't know what else to say about this fast-paced sexy and stylish series that I haven't already waxed lyrical about. The myriad of characters both good and evil and those straddling that line are impressive and diverse. Luke and Angel each have an inner strength I could only dream of possessing, hidden depths and wit as well as aesthetically pleasing so what more could you want? Throw in more insight into Luke Barringer's equally impressive brothers and Rain Shadow just goes above and beyond your normal serialised novel.
Tess has a brilliant flair for writing good drama, action packed and creative. Add in the epic love story unfolding between our hero and heroine Luke and Angel as well as the suspense of how it will all end and Tess has managed a recipe for an addictive series. It's like anticipating your favourite show each release date and wanting to discuss in length with whomever will listen about what happened and who did what in the newest book. So if you haven't already picked up Rain Shadow 1 to begin this epic journey please do it I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Another five star instalment from Tess and though I am beyond excited for the next book out August 20th I realllly don't want it to end. Fantastic stuff.
Wow... Tess Oliver did it again! She writes just enough to leave you hooked & wanting more... I just can't get enough of this miniseries!
This book seemed like the calm before the storm... Lots of loose ends were taken care of. You can feel something is going to happen. Tess brought up something twice... & I think I know why Angle is so important to Dreygon.
This book was all about Luke! He was the star & hero of this book! He was on a mission to find Angel. He seemed a bit reckless... Showing himself... When he was supposed to be "dead". Not really caring.... He knew & just felt something bad had happen to Angel.
Up until now...Luke has only talked about his brothers. We got to see them towards the end of book 2. But... In this book. Gage & Seth shows us just how brothers are supposed to be. They helped Luke out and stayed with him. He needed his brothers.
Dreygon... That old man is crazy!! He's up to something and is becoming a bit of a loose cannon! He seems obsessed about keeping Angle with him in the compound.
For now.. Things seem settled... But, I can't wait to find out what book 4 has in store for us!!
The story continues as Luke is now free and searching for his Angel. He hears that she has run off but no one seems to know where as he fears for her life in the desert and her grandfather clutches.
Angel does not know that Luke is still alive and has no idea what or where she is going when an older women picks her up and drops her off at the nearest town. Trying to regain her bearings she ends up staying a few days too much as she is caught by Gunner who kidnaps her. Gunner thinks she will make good bait and that he will user her to get the presidency of the motorcycle club from her grandfather.
Luke hears about the kidnapping and searches for her hut to no avail. Angel’s grandfather Dreygon suddenly appears and tells him where she is being held. So Luke goes off to rescue her but before he leaves Dreygon and his men take Angel in a van and heads back to their compound.
Will Luke be able to rescue her once again and get back into the compound? Can they finally meet up and be together or will her grandfather be in the way?
I cannot wait to see what else these two must endure before they can be together as Tess Oliver keeps things moving.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review
First let me say that I am just recently started reading MC books. Most of them have been pretty dark with lots of smut, great smut though. When I heard that Tess was going to write a MC romance series I was all over it! She gives the perfect amount of back story, character development, plot twists, hot heros, sexy heroines and crazy family that you just cant put down.
I love Angel. She's strong, brave, humble, honest, direct and sexy. She is also not always tough so you can relateto her. Through this book her spirit and strength is tested and I rooted for her the whole way. If anyone deserves a happy ending its Angel.
Luke, Luke, Luke. Our hero of the story who IMO could have been stronger. He let Angel save him, or rather she forced her way into the problem. I hope to see that Luke becomes her savior now. I loved seeing his possessive side! The steamy scenes between Luke and Angel blossom from sweet and a little bit demanding to hot, in your face passion that you cant help but feel with them. I can not wait for the next installment!
****This review contains spoilers, but hopefully if you are reading this one then you have already read the first two anyway*******
Once again Tess Oliver sucks us into the Rain Shadow world. I feel like I am watching episodes of my new favorite tv show every time I start the next volume.
Excellent addition to the serial. Now we just have to wait and see what happens next!
This book raised more mysteries as to the Bedlam MC. We aren’t totally sure what is going on with Angel and her grandfather. I have a suspicion based on information that we get in this book, but we will have to wait to see if I am right or not.
(If you want to know now I think she is the Starlight baby).
I was excited that we got more interactions with Luke and his brothers. I already can’t wait for the brother’s books.
More of Jericho! I was really excited that he is coming along with Angel and Luke. I missed him! I am really hoping that he somehow gets his own HEA.
I don’t know what is going to happen now that they are in Montana with Gage. I am really hoping that they stay out there though because it seems like a good place for Angel. She would probably like it.
Book 3 takes off right from the end of book 2. I don't want to say too much about the plot as I don't want to give anything away and if you're thinking about reading this then you've likely read the first two. If not, then I would really suggest you start from book 1 (which at the time of writing is free).
This has the been best one for me so far and all in all I thought it was a great read. The action kicks in from the start and does not let up. This series and this book in particular delivered on action and suspense with a nice dose of romance. Yet again, Tess has written a cracking story and delivered great characters. This book was really fast paced and I'd finished it before I even knew it.
A little added bonus for me was that we get to see a little more from the Barringer brothers in this book and I can't wait for their stories in the future.
I really didn't want this book to end and that for me is a sign of a great story - thankfully Tess is releasing this serial fast and furious. I can't wait for the next instalment in September.
Wow! Another great addition to this series. Throughout the book i owas on the edge of my seat anticipating what was going to happen next. This installment has so much more action and plot than the first two. It starts where the last one has left off. Luke is alive, home, and plotting how to rescue Angel. She's decided to take life into her own hands and escape Dreygon.
I loved that through Angel's journey I could feel what she was feeling scared, worried, anxious, paranoid and lonely after leaving the compound. Will she ever be able to fins a safe place to live in peace with luke.
We get to see more of the Barringer brothers and I love them both. Gage the older brooding brother and seth the fun playboy twin! Can't wait to read more about them!
Oh man, the plot has thickened! This has left me excited and impatient for the next one. So many unanswered questions that keeps your mind guessing.
I was given an ARC from the author for an honest review. I was no way compensated for this and it is of my very own opinion.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Book 3 in the series picks up where book 2 left off. Luke has been reunited with his brothers and is back with the DEA while Angel is looking for a new start without her overbearing grandfather and the love of her life. Unfortunately, the MC life is not that easy to run from and Angel finds herself in quite a bit of trouble. Luke on the other hand is not only trying to avenge his former partner and friends' death by going after the gang members responsible, but he is also on a mission to find Angel and bring her to safety.
The twists, turns and suspense in this story had me quickly turning the pages to see what would happen next. Some of the situations seemed a little unrealistic but it was still entertaining and kept me interested. The love and connection between Luke and Angel was beautiful and I continued to enjoy their journey. Loved getting to know a little about the other Barringer Brothers as well and can't wait for the next book in the series.
