Having survived the deadly virus that endangered her new community, Quin is devastated to learn that the same sickness threatens The Beck. With Adams and his Shadow Patrol in charge, Cam and her friends are in mortal danger.
The rebels know they're not strong enough to take on The Beck's government alone. The only way to succeed is to join forces with The Ridge. But their alliance is built on tenuous one wrong move could destroy their hopes forever.
As Quin steels herself for the final battle, a shocking revelation leaves her wondering what she is willing to sacrifice in the name of freedom.
Clare Littlemore is a young adult dystopian and sci-fi author who thrives on fictionally destroying the world with a cup of tea by her side. The tea will often be cold, because her characters have a way of grabbing hold of her and not letting go until the final page of their story is finished. They regularly have the same effect on her readers.
As well as being a writer, Clare is an avid reader. In other people's books and her own, she enjoys imagining how the world might look in a few decades and considering how ordinary characters might deal with the extraordinary situations the future throws at them. Clare lives in the North West of England with her husband and two children.
Now that two societies outside of the Beck exist, leaders from both decide that cooperation may get them farther than suspicions will.
Quin and others on the Crags, however, have only ever known life in the Beck, and the way the Ridge people live is alien to them: In family units, having and raising children, and openly showing emotions. But Quin is willing to keep an open mind, even when she discovers a secret about herself that nearly shatters her world.
And no one at the Crags has forgotten about Cameron, left back in the Beck, where life is becoming more dangerous than ever. Now the Beck has formed a plan to get rid of its least productive citizens in order to create a race of what they consider to be the perfect citizens. Add to that the illness ravaging the Beck, and there is no time left to waste; people must be rescued before they're lost forever.
Now it’s a race against time for people of the Crags and the Ridge to band together and bring war to the Beck and end their despotic rule once and for all.
This was a great conclusion to the four-book saga. I like how this book focused on bringing members of the Crags and the Ridge together to showcase their differences. The concept of family is new to Quin and others from the Beck, but it’s something they’re beginning to see the value of.
And everyone seems to be hooking up in couples except for Quin, whose love - Cameron - waits in danger back at the Beck. Cameron didn’t have a huge part in this book, which is really the only thing I wished were different.
Overall this is a great young adult dystopian series with some light romance. It kept my interest for four books!
This was an intense finale to the FLOW series that kept me hooked for 2 days straight! New characters are introduced, battles are won and lost, beloved characters go on through the fight of a life time, and not all of them make it out alive...
Clare did a beautiful job of creating this incredible universe that comes to life in your head as you devour each and every word of the story.
I cannot wait to see what she writes next! If you're curious about the previous 3 books, I've written reviews on my Instagram account: @sound.ofbooks
I finally read the fourth and final book in the Flow series and overall I found it a satisfying end to a strong and undervalued series by an author knows how to write a good story.
There was a lot I liked this book and the series in general; the writing is quite direct and uncomplicated, there are a lot of non-romantic relationships and the romantic relationships that do develop are understated. They were very well done.
The idea of the Beck is great and for the most part it was well developed. I did have some questions that never got answered and that bugged me a little. A few of the plot twists were a bit obvious or done before. I think my main problem was that I don’t read a lot of YA these days and I ended up feeling like I wanted a bit more depth from the story. That is my problem and not the book’s though.
If you are looking for a well written dystopian YA series, I would highly recommend this series. It is a good ride.
Wow, what can I say? I’ve enjoyed this whole series and am both happy and sad to have finished it.
This book was not a disappointment! It had all of the things that I loved about the previous books, including surprises, action, and heartbreaking loss along with a satisfying ending.
My two favorite things about this book were the surprising discovery in the beginning of the book (I won’t spoil it) and the unexpected way that the final battle took place.
My only complaint is that I wish there had been a little more Cam in this one, but that’s only because I have a crush on him lol
Great series overall and is definitely one of my favorites.
Tough choices and dramatic events shape this final book in the Flow series. The mysterious origins of The Beck are never revealed, but The Crags and the Ridge, along with those who inhabit all of these places, interact in dramatic ways throughout the story. I highly recommend this story if you are looking for a deep dystopian societal examination from the YA perspective.
I have been waiting for the final book in this series with bated breath and it did not disappoint. What a fantastic series and amazing ending to Quin's story. Cannot recommend this strongly enough, love love loved this series, thank you Clare Littlemore for this wonderful journey!
This series was such a fun read! Dystopian can be a hit or miss genre but this series renewed my hope in it a little.
These books focus on a lot of important themes and they all got their fair share of page time and development. - Mother-Daughter Relationship: In "The Beck" mothers give birth to their children and are immediately separated. In this last installment especially there is a lot of focus on the trauma of mothers who are so cruelly ripped away from their children and the importance of these relationships. The love of a mother is so powerful and exploring the depths of that relationship added a lot to this story. - Family Relationships: Claire Littlemore did such a good job of making everything even more heartbreaking when Quin and others from The Beck did not even seem to understand the father being in the picture or the mother being able to keep her child. The excitement for a child and the love involved in the creation of a family was foreign to them. It really broke my heart but seeing them begin to understand such a relationship would be possible for them was one of my favorite parts of this book.
This final installment was satisfying and brought a good conclusion to this series! My only complaint (as a fan of romance) was that Cam wasn't involved very much. I would have loved to see more of him and Quin as a couple. I just love them.
Also shoutout to Thomas who I bitterly hated in the third book but I came to adore in this one. Character growth is really something.
Disclosure: I was given an ARC of the complete series by the author. This is my complete and honest review of the series.
I absolutely loved this series. The synopsis of the plot really intrigued me when I first saw this series. This book follows Quin and her life in "The Beck", a dystopian society. In each book, you follow Quin grow and find herself and what is important to her. I typically read a lot of romance books, but this book really caught my attention in other ways, which honestly is slightly unusual for me. While there is romance sprinkled throughout the series, it is more of a subplot than the main focus. To be completely honest, a lot of the time I will kinda zone out of series like this, but this book kept me completely interested until the very end. The plot is so well thought out and develops in a great way. I read each book in a day, as I never wanted to put it down because there was always some aspect of unknown hanging in the air. If I could have changed one thing about the series, it would just be the way it was ended in the epilogue. It was wrapped up well, but I wished for slightly more on the solution aspect and more exploration of Quin's romantic life afterward, but that is probably the romance enthusiast in me. Overall, I highly recommend this series. I guarantee that 99% of you will love it.
The Flow Series is a good series. You do not ever find out what caused the flood, I was hoping for some answers on how the flood came to be, how Governor Adams became Governor Adams and became the way he came to be. How he chose Superintendent Carter and Director Reed. How he had the scientist Montgomery became as brilliant as she was since this time period seemed so far into the future. She mentioned Adams knew she was gifted and she was, but how - since this generation of society seemed they were not given the education or knowledge. Author did well with the suspense at the end because I kept wanting to get to the part if Quin and Cam finally got to be together, and in the end they did, but I guess I was hoping for more such as reading on to hear they had a family. In the end after the battle, while they did suffer losses, it seemed it wasn't too many big losses of the main characters other than Quin's mother, Baker, Will and a few others. Could have been worse. I was also hoping to learn that there were more than three islands. Maybe one day the author will decide to continue the series. I was also happy to know Quin decided to do the job of traveling between all 3 islands because she was apart of all three, but decided to return to living on the Beck, despite all the memories, but chose to live there to make new and better memories.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. This is such a wonderful conclusion to this series. Can't wait to read what the author brings us next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
"The question didn't need a repose. As I watched, various Resistance citizens were emerging from the trees, raging forward, guns blazing. The circle of Shadow guards reacted more quickly now, crouching low and returning fire. The battle had begun."
One of my most anticipated books of 2020, Quell is the fourth and final book in the beloved Flow series by Clare Littlemore. I have loved this series from the beginning. The relationships, the regime, the love, the hardships, the sickening darkness and the battle that these characters have gone through. This a world unique to any other that I have read, and I have read a lot. In this epic and bittersweet conclusion we find our heroic Resistance citizens teaming up with members of The Ridge to ultimately fight for justice and take back the Beck from Adams, its corrupt leader.
I will miss this series so much, this last installment noth broke my heart and gave me hope. With spin offs being a thing in literature today I can only hope the Littlemore feels compelled one day to return the these characters and this world.
This series is truly brilliant! I loved every moment
This entire series has captivated my undivided attention since the first chapter of Flow. Clare Littlemore created a world so incredibly immersive that I can clearly see every single place in my mind. I am a super fickle reader and I honestly never thought I'd love a book series more than the Hunger Games, but I think the Flow series is safely sitting in my #1 spot for a long time. I yearn for more books in this series, not because it feels incomplete, but because I love these characters and this world so much. I had to pace myself reading Quell, and I still finished it in a single day.
Quell gets off to a calmer, kinder start than the previous books in the Flow series. We get to really see what life is like for the survivors of the beck and the reality of living on the ridge. It really helps you to bond and fall deeply in love with the characters before the action really starts. There will be times when you laugh, when you cry and when you are gripping the edge of your seat. I won't give too much away but you'll get to see both sides of human nature in just a few short chapters. It's an absolutely stunning end to a book series that has never really left me since I first picked it up. Clare Littlemore is definitely one to watch and if you haven't picked up this series yet, I can't encourage it enough. Make sure you don't have anything to do for a few days though as you won't be able to put it down.
"OH MY GOSH!!!! I just finished Quell, oh my gosh....I was taking on so many rides, ups and downs, so many emotions. I sat and smiled, screamed no, hollered yes, and cried!
This was the best ending to the series. So much though, so many emotions that flow through this book, flowing into you and overtaken you with each word you read. I couldn't help but feel so much for Quin and the battle that The Beck, The Ridge, and The Crag had to face not only each day of their lives, but to try to make all three a better place to live for everyone. "
Oh my Ms. Littlemore, what an amazing end to your series, thank you so much for this journey with your style of writings. Heck Yeah! Read this series!!!
Action - 5 Character definition Personality - 4 Appearance - 2.5 The characters were described in Flow and the following books as they were introduced. The descriptions and lack of reinforcement or added details as the series progressed made it hard for me to picture them in my head. Romance - 2 The scenes with Cam and Quin were too infrequent for me. The periods of separation were so long that I ended up using the search tool to find them. The scenes where they did interact were intense to the point where I would have given it a 4 for romance had there been more of them. This could have been helped by switching between Quin and Cam’s perspectives. As it was, the longing of Quin was nearly unbearable.
After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story.
Wow, what an amazing conclusion to the series! The stakes were already high at the end of book 3, with the sickness having travelled to the Beck and Cam taken ill. But as a series finale, this was epic! It was suspenseful, addicting in a way that will make you want to keep reading, with great characters, such unique settings and an amazing plot with such a dense conflict.
The ending itself did not disappoint either. The build up was really worth it, and the epilogue was really sweet.
Overall, this series was totally amazing, definitely a must read for dystopia fans.
A fantastic finale to a wonderful dystopian series!
As this is the final installment in the series, I was looking forward to the final battle and some of my favourite characters that had been left behind in the Beck.
Quell did not disappoint! I loved the action scenes and Quin's resolve. I also really liked the new characters that we met early on in the book, and the character development of old friends/enemies.
The stakes were high and the tension simmering beneath the surface kept me on pins and needles as I read.
If you love YA dystopian fiction, you'll love this series!
**I received a free review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review**
Quell (Flow #4) by Clare Littlemore is the final book of the Flow series that I was lucky to receive through bookfunnel as a complete collection. In this great book of a great series Quin, having survived a deadly virus is devastated to learn the same sickness threatens the Beck. With Adams in charge the friends she left behind in the Beck, including Cam, are in mortal danger. Joining forces with the ridge Quin steels herself for the final battle. Read this great book and the rest of the series to find out if they succeed. This book, and the boxset of the complete series, are available on Amazon
I love the characters and the world in this series and feel it was finished exactly as it should have been. I will admit I had a hard time getting into the book, but I find this is a pretty common issue for me. Once I got into it a bit, though, I couldn't stop reading.
I just wish there was a little more Cam steam. There was also another character issue that I thought was brilliantly written, and though it resolved in a way at the end, I wanted a more clear resolution/acceptance. I don't want to say more about it because I don't want to spoil anything.
Despite all of that, it's a fantastic book that I highly recommend!
This book was my favourite in the series! I loved it so much as the story line took off from the start, the best part was learning about The Ridge and it was amazing to see Quin interact with such people, this is what made me fall in love with the writing perspective as we really do live the story through Quin's eyes. The major plot twist in the book took me by surprise by ended up being my favourite part of the whole series as it's a game changer for everyone. Finally, the ending was so fast paced and i love a book that finishes in such dramatic way. Highly recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of dystopian fiction!
I was definitely intrigued enough by this series to read the whole thing. However, I would have liked more world building and explanations throughout of why things were the way they were. I also didn’t feel that strongly towards many of the characters as there were a lot of them and I couldn’t always remember who was who. Still, this was a good series and I enjoyed it. I think it’s perfect for a teenage reader who wouldn’t focus on the why behind things and would enjoy the story for what it is.
I waited eagerly to jump back into this series and without a hitch, I felt again my anger towards the dissenters in Quin's group. Another on-the-edge of my seat reading as they returned to the Beck to rescue those left behind in a madman's rule. I was so emotionally involved. Great job by the author for enthralling me into this world and with captivating characters that I both loved and hated. I would recommend this for all those that love a great dystopian read.
A great story to end the series. This is the 4th book and conclusion to Quin’s journey in the Flow series and it leaves you very satisfied. Lots of action, characters that you grow to love and some that you hate. A tale well developed and well told. Can’t wait for more books from Clare Littlemore.
Phew was a different read but worth it. The writing was outstanding. Oh Lord wanted to slap some characters upside the head lol. I loved each one of them. Well except the bad guys 😂😜. It's slow at first but after a few pages you are pulled into a great story. Thank you author for letting us be part of your world.
Although a satisfying conclusion to an enjoyable series, I felt a bit let down by the final book. Whereas all the other books were constant action, this was not until almost the end. Now I understand what had to occur and why but if the author exposed more of what was happening at The Beck, it would have been more exciting. All in all a very good series.
A great read, I'm hoping we might yet hear more about Quin and the other wonderfully developed citizens we read about through this entire series. Full of discoveries, adventure, and a lot of insight, this is a really great book to read-especially when one can read it like an analog for the real world.
I was nervous how this series would end, but I am happy to say that it ended nearly perfectly! I enjoyed the struggle of the final battle, the characters interactions, and the way everything was wrapped up in the end. Very good series! I will read any Clare Littlemore books I can get my hands on!
I loved this book. If you don’t read any more of my review just know that I loved this book. Quell is definitely the best one of the Flow series, an exciting, thrilling and heart warming conclusion to the story of Quin and the rest of the members of The Beck resistance. The characters are so lovable and relatable. The relationships between them are real and make you want to have a gang of friends that support you the way Quin’s friends support each other. The plot of the story was thorough and the writing makes you feel like you’re right there, fighting alongside the resistance. I’ve read several dystopian stories that have confusing endings, or wrap up too quickly. Quell is not one of them. The fight at The Beck was exciting, with just enough happiness, sadness and anxiety to keep you hanging on. I strongly recommend this series to anyone who loves stories!
Though I enjoyed the first books in this series, I absolutely loved this final novel. Littlemore reeled me and from page one and then moved though the story effortlessly, keeping me on the hook the entire time. I highly recommend the entire series.
